奧巴馬訪華引用的古詩文如何

翻譯？

奧巴馬到中國來了。他訪華會引用哪句中國古詩文？昨天中午就有了答案：奧巴馬在上海的Town Hall演講中引用了一句Chinese proverb：Consider the past you shall know the future，顯然這是《論語》中的名句―溫故而知新‖。

美國多位總統(tǒng)都曾引用過的中國古詩文。那么這些古詩文又該如何

翻譯呢？

1972年2月21日，在周恩來總理參加的晚宴上，美國前總統(tǒng)尼克松在祝酒辭中引用了毛澤東主席的詩詞：

Chairman has written: So many deeds cry out to be done, and always urgently;the world rolls on, time presses.Ten thousand years are too long;seize the day, seize the hour！

中方翻譯冀朝鑄胸有成竹地翻譯出：―多少事，從來急；天地轉(zhuǎn)，光陰迫。一萬年太久，只爭朝夕！‖(《滿江紅·和郭沫若同志》)尼克松接著借題發(fā)揮：This is the hour.This is the day for our two people(現(xiàn)在就是我們兩國人民只爭朝夕的時(shí)候了)，贏得了滿堂彩。

卡特總統(tǒng)在卸任后，于1981年8月24日到北京訪問。當(dāng)時(shí)北京正值盛夏，卡特一下飛機(jī)便在―中國通‖ 的指導(dǎo)下念了兩句中國古詩：―今世褦襶子，觸熱到人家‖。當(dāng)時(shí)沒有互聯(lián)網(wǎng)，碰上這種難題只能打電話給文學(xué)研究所詢問這兩句―唐詩‖的出處。結(jié)果已經(jīng)是下午，所里沒有幾個(gè)人，也幫不上外交部的忙。無奈之中，電話轉(zhuǎn)到文學(xué)所主辦的《文學(xué)遺產(chǎn)》編輯部，當(dāng)時(shí)在場的編輯王學(xué)泰先生很有學(xué)問，感覺不太像唐詩，翻開《全漢三國晉南北朝詩》，很快找到此詩是晉人程曉所作《嘲熱客》：―平生三伏時(shí)，道路無行車。閉門避暑臥，出入不相過。今世褦襶子，觸熱到人家。主人聞客來，顰蹙奈此何。搖扇髀中疾，流汗正滂沱。傳戒諸高明，熱行宜見訶‖。答案揭曉，外交部人士讀了全詩拍案叫絕，尤其是―主人聞客來，顰蹙奈此何‖這兩句，很符合卡特的身份，已經(jīng)不擔(dān)任總統(tǒng)了，還來麻煩主人，很不好意思啊。

演員出身的里根總統(tǒng)上臺以后的第四年來到北京，在國家主席舉行的歡迎晚宴上，里根在祝酒辭中說：Many centuries ago, Wang Po, a famous Chinese poet-philosopher, wrote, “Although we reside in far corners of the world, having a good friend is akin to having a good neighbor.”(在許多世紀(jì)之前，一位名叫王勃的中國哲學(xué)家和詩人寫過：―海內(nèi)存知己、天涯若比鄰‖)。美國國務(wù)院的中國通又為里根在第二天中國總理晚宴上的祝酒辭中加了一句加大互信力度的話：… let us be of the same mind.And as a saying from “The Book of Changes” goes, “If two people are of the same mind, their sharpness can cut through metal.”(讓我們同心同德，正如《易經(jīng)》中所說的那樣―二人同心，其利斷金‖。)順便說一句，在22年后法國總統(tǒng)希拉克訪華，在北大演講時(shí)也引用了 ―二人同心，其利斷金‖，卻說是孔夫子的格言，證明法國的中國通比美國的中國通差了好幾個(gè)檔次。

老布什總統(tǒng)1989年春訪華，在歡迎晚宴上兩度展示他作為前任駐華聯(lián)絡(luò)處主任的功底。在祝酒辭的一開始，老布什就說：There's a Chinese proverb that says: “One generation plants a tree;the next sits in its shade.”(有句中國諺語這樣說：前人栽樹，后人乘涼)，由此稱贊中國人正在栽種改革之樹，而且這一代人已經(jīng)開始收獲果實(shí)。隨后，老布什提到他和芭芭拉在中國旅行的難忘經(jīng)歷，特別是杜甫的老家四川。老布什提到乘船經(jīng)過三峽的經(jīng)歷時(shí)說：… where we relished the history of the Three Kingdoms and could almost hear the poet Li Bo's description of “the monkeys who screamed from the two sides without stopping.”(我們想起了三國故事，幾乎聽到了詩人李白―兩岸猿聲啼不住‖的描述)。

1998年克林頓總統(tǒng)克服了拉鏈門的心理陰影訪問中國，直奔文化古城西安。在仿古迎賓入城儀式上克林頓的講話也帶有厚重的歷史感：

Let us give new meaning to the words written in the ancient Book of Rites, what you call the Li Shi: When the great way is followed, all under heaven will be equal(讓我們給《禮記》這本歷史古書的文字賦予新的意義：當(dāng)大家走偉大的道路時(shí)，世界所有的人都將是平等的)。

克林頓所說的―當(dāng)大家走偉大的道路時(shí)，世界所有的人都將是平等的‖是《禮記》的《禮運(yùn)》篇第一句話―大道之行也，天下為公‖。兩天后，在北京的國宴上，克林頓在祝酒辭中宣稱―我們在以不同的方式堅(jiān)決維護(hù)著孟子的思想‖，他所引述的孟子語錄是這樣一句話： A good citizen in one community will befriend the other citizens of the community;good citizens of the world will befriend of the other citizens of the world(―一鄉(xiāng)之善士斯友一鄉(xiāng)之善士，天下之善士斯友天下之善士‖)。孟子這段話出自《孟子·萬章下》，也就是說，偉大的美國人民和美國領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人很愿意和偉大的中國人民和中國領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人交朋友。這樣的話從美國總統(tǒng)口中說出來，當(dāng)然讓中國人十分受用。

小布什文采不高，口齒不清，但是也咬文嚼字地引用過中國古詩詞。2005年11月在訪問中國之前，他在日本京都發(fā)表了關(guān)于民主與自由的重頭演講。在演講的最后，他說Thousands of years before Thomas Jefferson or Abraham Lincoln, a Chinese poet wrote that, “the people should be cherished, the people are the root of a country；the root firm, the country is tranquil.”(在托馬斯·杰斐遜或亞伯拉罕·林肯誕生的幾千年前，就有一位中國詩人寫道：―人民應(yīng)該被珍視，人民是國家的根基。根基牢固，國家就安寧)。這句話出自《尚書·夏書》中的―五子之歌‖，原文是―民可近，不可下。民惟邦本，本固邦寧‖。

可見，美國歷屆總統(tǒng)在訪華期間引用中國古詩文已經(jīng)成了不成文的慣例。其實(shí)奧巴馬在訪華之前已經(jīng)引用過，在不久前舉行的首輪中美戰(zhàn)略與經(jīng)濟(jì)對話開幕式上，美國總統(tǒng)奧巴馬在致辭中引用了孟子語錄。奧巴馬這段講話的英語原文是：“Thousands of years ago, the great philosopher Mencius said：'A trail through the

mountains, if used, becomes a path in a short time, but, if unused, becomes blocked by grass in an equally short time.’”(山徑之蹊間，介然用之而成路；為間不用，則茅塞之矣。今茅塞子之心矣 —《孟子·盡心下》)。

除詩文外，肯尼迪在1959年4月競選總統(tǒng)期間，還在一次演講中提到了一個(gè)中文詞匯給他的啟示：

今天在翻譯課的公選課堂上, 講英語長句的翻譯時(shí)，將紫色的這個(gè)句子作為例子討論。這是2009年TEM8 英譯漢的考題，是歷年來最難的一次，而這個(gè)句子尤其難。

我的譯文：但是，不容樂觀的是除了一批令人尊敬的人士，盡管這一群體的人數(shù)正與日俱增，大部分的世界領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人仍然沒有真正意識到這一危機(jī)的嚴(yán)重性。我們?nèi)匀豢梢杂们鸺獱柵u那些忽略了阿道夫希特勒威脅的歐洲諸政要的話來形容這些人：（采用了分譯法，忠實(shí)，流暢。斷句斷得好，語言樸素，主要陳述情況，感情內(nèi)捻。）學(xué)生的課堂譯文：

第五篇：古文

1.酒以成禮

鐘毓兄弟小時(shí)，值父晝寢，因共偷服藥酒。其父時(shí)覺，且托寐以觀之。毓拜而后飲，會飲而不拜。既而問毓何以拜，毓曰：“酒以成禮，不敢不拜。”又問會何以不拜，會曰：“偷本非禮，所以不拜。”

2.常羊?qū)W射

常羊?qū)W射于屠龍子朱。屠龍子朱曰：“若欲聞射道乎？楚王田于云夢，使虞人起禽而射之，禽發(fā)，鹿出于王左，麋交于王右。王引弓欲射，有鵠拂王旃而過，翼若垂云。王注矢于弓，不知其所射。養(yǎng)叔進(jìn)曰：?臣之射也，置一葉于百步之外而射之，十發(fā)而十中。如使置十葉焉，則中不中非臣所能必矣。?”

3.次非殺蛟

荊有次非者，得寶劍于干遂。還反涉江，至于中流，有兩蛟夾 繞其船。次非謂舟人曰：“子嘗見兩蛟繞船能活者乎？”船人曰：“未 之見也。”次非攘臂祛衣，拔寶劍曰：“此江中之腐肉朽骨也！棄劍以全 己，余奚愛焉！”于是赴江刺蛟，殺之而復(fù)上船。舟中之人皆得活。

5.高陽應(yīng)造屋

高陽應(yīng)將為室家，匠對曰：“未可也，木尚生，加涂其上，必將撓。以生為室，今雖善，后將必?cái)　！备哧枒?yīng)曰：“緣子之言，則室不敗也——木益枯則勁，涂益干則輕，以益勁任益輕則不敗。”匠人無辭而對，受令而為之。室之始成也善，其后果敗。

6.竭澤而漁

竭澤而漁，豈不獲得，而明年無魚；焚藪而田，豈不獲得，而明年無獸。詐偽之道，雖今偷可，后將無復(fù)，非長術(shù)也。

7.功名

水泉深則魚鱉歸之，樹木盛則飛鳥歸之，庶草茂則禽獸歸之，人主賢則豪杰歸之。故圣王不務(wù)歸之者，而務(wù)其所以歸。強(qiáng)令之笑不樂；強(qiáng)令之哭不悲；強(qiáng)令之為道也，可以成小，而不可以成大。

8.目貴明

目貴明,耳貴聰,心貴智。以天下之目視,則無不見也。以天下之耳聽,則無不聞也。以天下之心慮者,則無不知。輻輳并進(jìn),則明不可塞。

9.自知之明

自知者不怨人，知命者不怨天。怨人者窮，怨天者無志。失之己，反之人，豈不迂乎哉？……故君子道其常，而小人道其怪。

10.對牛彈琴

公明儀為牛彈清角之操，伏食如故。非牛不聞，不合其耳矣。轉(zhuǎn)為蚊虻之聲，孤犢之鳴，即掉尾奮耳，蹀躞而聽。

11.稼穡艱難

古人欲知稼穡艱難，斯蓋貴谷務(wù)本之道也。夫食為民天，民非食不生矣。三日不粒，父子不能相存。耕種之，薅鋤之，刈獲之，載積之，打拂之，簸揚(yáng)之，凡幾涉手而入倉廩，安可輕農(nóng)事而貴末業(yè)哉？

12.積財(cái)千萬，不如薄伎在身

諺曰：積財(cái)千萬，不如薄伎在身。伎之易習(xí)而可貴者，無過讀書也。世人不問愚智，皆欲識人之多，見事之廣，而不肯讀書，是猶求飽而懶營饌，欲曖而惰裁衣也。

13.孫泰軼事

孫泰，山陽人也，少師皇甫穎，操守頗有古賢之風(fēng)。泰妻即姨妹也。先是姨老矣，以二子為托，曰：“其長損一目，汝可娶其女弟。”姨卒，泰娶其姊。或詰之，泰曰：“其人有廢疾，非泰不可適。”眾皆伏泰之義。嘗于市遇鐵燈臺，市之，而命洗刷，卻銀也，泰亟往還之。

14.蔡磷堅(jiān)還亡友財(cái)

蔡磷，字勉旃，吳縣人。重諾責(zé)，敦風(fēng)義。有友某以千金寄之，不立券。亡何，其人亡。蔡召其子至，歸之。愕然不受，曰：“嘻！無此事也，安有寄千金而無券者？且父未嘗語我也。”蔡笑曰：“券在心，不在紙。而翁知我，故不語郎君。”卒輦而致之。

15.王恭從會稽還

王恭從會稽還，王大看之。見其坐六尺簟，因語恭：“卿東來，故應(yīng)有此物，可以一領(lǐng)及我。”恭無言。大去后，既舉所坐者送之。既無余席，便坐薦上。后大聞之，甚驚，曰：“吾本謂卿多，故求耳。” 對曰：“丈人不悉恭，恭作人無長物。”

16.錢太守?cái)帙Z

萬歷中，錢若賡守臨江，多異政。有鄉(xiāng)人持鵝入市，寄店中后他往，.還索鵝，店主賴之，云：“群鵝，我鵝耳。”鄉(xiāng)人訟于郡。公令人取店中鵝。計(jì)四只，各以一紙，給筆硯，分四處，令其供狀。人無不驚訝。已退食，,使人問鵝供狀否？答曰：“未。”少頃出，下堂視之，曰：“狀已供矣。”因指一鵝曰：“此鄉(xiāng)人鵝。”蓋鄉(xiāng)人鵝食野草，糞色清；店鵝食谷栗，糞色黃。店主伏罪。

17.博學(xué)之，審問之

博學(xué)之，審問之，慎思之，明辨之，篤行之。有弗學(xué)，學(xué)之弗能弗措也；有弗問，問之弗知弗措也；有弗思，思之弗得弗措也；有弗辨，辨之弗明弗措也；有弗行，行之弗篤弗措也。

18.殺身成仁 在陳絕糧，從者病，莫能興。子路慍見曰：“君子亦有窮乎？”子曰：“君子固窮，小人窮斯濫矣。”子曰：“志士仁人，無求生以害人，有殺身以成仁。”

20.陸游家訓(xùn)

后生才銳者，最易壞事。若有之，父兄當(dāng)以為憂，不可以為喜也。切須常加簡束，令熟讀經(jīng)學(xué)，訓(xùn)以寬厚恭謹(jǐn)，勿令與浮薄相處，自此十許年，志趣自成。不然，其可慮之事，蓋非一端。吾此言，后人之藥石也，各須謹(jǐn)之，毋貽后悔。

21.病痞

余病痞且悸，謁醫(yī)視之，曰：“惟伏神為宜。”明日，買諸市，烹而餌之，病加甚。召醫(yī)而尤其故，醫(yī)求觀其滓，曰：“吁！盡老芋也，彼鬻（yù）藥者欺子而獲售。子之懵也，而反尤于余，不以過乎？”余戍然慚，愾然憂，推是類也以往，則世之以芋自售而病乎人者眾矣，又誰辨焉！

22.司馬光勤學(xué)

司馬光，宋哲宗時(shí)宰相，嘗主編《資治通鑒》，為一時(shí)之名臣。其幼時(shí)患記憶不若人，眾兄弟既成誦而游息矣，獨(dú)閉門不出，俟能諷誦乃已。自言：“用力多者收功遠(yuǎn)，乃終身不忘也。”及長，遍覽古籍，博聞強(qiáng)志，曰：“書不可不成誦。或馬上，或中夜不寢時(shí)，詠其文，思其義，所得多矣。”

23.昔有長者子

昔有長者子，入海取沉水。積有年載，方得一車，持來歸家。詣市賣之，以其貴故，卒無買者。經(jīng)歷多日，不能得售。心生疲厭，以為苦惱。見人賣炭，時(shí)得速售。便生念言：不如燒之作炭，可得速售。即燒為炭，詣市賣之，不得半車炭之價(jià)直。世間愚人亦復(fù)如是。

24.岳飛二三事

飛至孝，母留河北，遣人求訪，迎歸。母有痼疾，藥餌必親。母卒，水漿不入口者三日。家無姬侍。吳玠素服飛，愿與交歡，飾名姝遺之。飛曰：“主上宵旰, 豈大將安樂時(shí)？”卻不受，玠益敬服。少豪飲，帝戒之曰：“卿異時(shí)到河朔，乃可飲。”遂絕不飲。帝初為飛營第，飛辭曰：“敵未滅,何以家為？”或問天下何時(shí) 太平，飛曰：“文臣不愛錢，武臣不惜死，天下太平矣.。”

25.和尚敬茶

靈隱寺僧某，以茶得名，鐺臼皆精。然所蓄茶有數(shù)等，恒視客之貴賤以為烹獻(xiàn)；其最上者，非貴客及知味者，不一奉也。一日，有貴官至，僧伏謁甚恭，出佳茶，手自烹進(jìn)，冀得稱譽(yù)。貴官默然。僧惑甚，又以最上一等烹而進(jìn)之。飲已將盡，并無贊語。僧急不能待，鞠躬曰：“茶何如？”貴官執(zhí)盞一拱曰：“甚熱。”

26.造酒忘米

一人問造酒之法于酒家。酒家曰：“一斗米，一兩曲，加二斗水，相參和，釀七日，便成酒。”其人善忘，歸而用水二斗，曲一兩，相參和，七日而嘗之，猶水也，乃往誚酒家，謂不傳與真法。酒家曰：“爾第不循我法耳。”其人曰：“我循爾法，用二斗水，一兩曲。”酒家曰：“可有米乎？”其人俯首思曰：“是我忘記下米！”

噫！并酒之本而忘之，欲求酒，及于不得酒，而反怒怨教之者之非也。世之學(xué)者，忘本逐末，而學(xué)不成，何異于是！
