例：我們從收音機中聽到三萬二千五百 這個數字相對較短、較簡單，不需要把中文中的“萬”劃成豎線也可以，所以：首先 寫下聽到的數字3│2500

同學非常熟悉中文里面的“個、百、千、萬、十萬、百萬、千萬、億、十億、百億….”。每一級的單位都有，非常齊全。而在英語中同學掰指數來： hundred, thousand, million, billion, trillion。總覺得和中文配不起來，因此同學碰到“萬、十萬、千萬、億”要特別注意，要反復操練這幾個數字，這幾個數字在中譯英時尤為重要。

1萬= ten thousand

10萬= one hundred thousand

1000萬= ten million

1億= one hundred million 在這里要補充說明的是考生可能聽到的中文數字非常簡單，例如：十三億，這么短的數字，同學記錄的時候只需寫13億。在念的時候，由于英語中沒有 “億”這個單位，只有“十億”這個單位，同學只需從右邊往左小數點移一位即可，13變成1.3，在1.3后面的單位是billion。不妨看這幾個例子：945億 即94.5 billion36億 即3.6 billion 但是一旦碰到“5億”又該怎么辦呢？如果按照上述以小數點的辦法，不就成了0.5 billion嗎？英語中沒有“億”這個單位，我們只能退到下面的單位：million。“億”轉換成“million”之間需要多加兩個零。所以5億就表達成500 million。
