As a bridge between different languages and cultures, interpretation has become a principal part in our language study.From the course of interpretation, I’ve learned some fundamental interpreting skills we require to be a competent interpreter.They are summed up as followings:

First, considering the extraordinary flexibility of interpretation, before performing interpreting work we have to make good preparations, including linguistic preparations and psychological preparations.As for linguistic preparations, in the first place, we should be equipped with good hearing, speaking, writing and reading abilities.We should have a good command of a large quantity of vocabulary of the language.In addition, we should accumulate abundant knowledge and information about different kinds of fields, such as politics, science, business, laws, history and so on.Moreover, to be quite familiar with the two languages’ characteristics, similarities and differences is necessary.In relation to psychological preparations, staying confident and relaxed plays an important role in interpreting work.Such mental qualities are crucial especially when we encounter some emergent situations in which we are faced with unacquaintance with the topic and the obscurity of the speaker’s words, which occur constantly in real life.And in this perspective, psychological preparations are effective supplements of linguistic preparations.Second, we’re supposed to be familiar with the general process of the interpretation, which will guide our actions from beginning to end.We should focus on four aspects: listening, memorizing, processing, and delivering.Listening is an input and the first important part.So we should listen and sometimes should see carefully.We should remember the information using the top-down memory method and then try their best to translate what the speaker has said.After translating, delivering, output, is last part of the interpreting.We should speak out loudly, properly and clearly.Third, regarding the specific interpreting tactics, how to take notes proficiently is no doubt the key to good interpretation.Most of us are unable to do interpreting work well without taking notes because our short-term memory is not capable enough.Whoever has some interpreting experiences must have thought about the skills of notes taking.In the course of interpretation, teachers remind us that we should note down the main points instead of the original sentences, and some abbreviations of the words and special marks are used frequently.All in all, the course of interpretation allows us to grasp the basic interpreting strategies in not only the preparations but also the process of interpretation.However, interpreting is by no means an easy job and only by putting those strategies into practice can we really enhance our interpreting abilities.Just as the saying goes, practice makes perfect, practice is the best way to improve our interpretation.Apart from accomplishing the interpreting tasks in school, we can take part in different kinds of social activities that involve interpretation.Furthermore, we can utilize the Internet to provide ourselves with ample interpreting opportunities.For instance, we can watchvideos of simultaneous interpretation of News Conference Live and play the role of interpreters.Certainly we can learn a lot from the real interpreters who have high-level interpreting abilities and appropriate manner as well.Anyway, we should initiatively practise our interpreting skills both in and out of school, and always keep in mind that interpreting is an endless work and we still have a long way to go.

商務英語口譯課程建設項目總結

商務英語口譯課程2005年被列為上海市教委重點建設課程，2006年被評為上海市精品課程，這是長期以來外貿學院領導對本課程的支持及任課教師的努力的結果。此次課程建設于2005年9月立項，歷經一年的建設，取得了階段性成果，總結如下：

一、本課程在專業培養目標中的定位與課程目標

上海對外貿易學院于1989年起開設“英語口譯”課，至今已有17年歷史。該課程長期以來一直是商務英語專業學生的專業核心課。它是一門集英漢語言應用能力、商務知識和口譯技能于一體的綜合能力課程。學生在掌握了一定語言知識和技能的基礎上，通過強化記憶能力、學習記錄技巧和演講技能，不斷提高商務英語口譯的能力。本課程的主要任務是增強學生語言實際應用能力，提高本專業學生在商務領域口譯的能力。學生在完成本課程學習后，能夠改進口譯記錄方法、擴大商務方面的詞匯量和知識面、提高口譯表達的流利程度，并能夠勝任一般商務領域的口譯工作。

從1989年到2003年上半年，授課對象為商務英語專業和旅游管理專業的四年級學生，每周2學時，為期一學年。每屆約有60至100名學生。教學方式比較傳統，教師在課堂上除講授口譯的技巧外，還要求學生進行操練，并作講評。授課在語言實驗室進行，采用錄音、電視、錄像、VCD等教學設施開展課堂教學，每個教學班級的規模在20至30人左右。

2001年上海對外貿易學院開始把重心轉向松江大學城，隨著招生規模的擴大，英語口譯課的授課對象從2004年起大幅度增加，除原來的商務英語和旅游管理專業本科外，課程還覆蓋了英語（翻譯方向）專業本科，中英合作英語（商務英語）大專，英語（外貿英語方向）、涉外文秘（英語方向）的學生。同時，本課程除了作為課堂內教學外，還被國際商務外語學院列為本院學生的實踐課程之一。由此，學生人數從原來的每屆幾十人上升到了2006年約653人次，周課時總數也從原來的每周4-8學時增加目前的50學時。

由于對學生人數的增加早有預期，從2002年5月起，口譯課教師開始考慮通過運用多媒體教學手段授課。在上海市教委和上海對外貿易學院的雙重支持下，我們于2002年9月成立口譯項目小組并著手開發《商務英語口譯階梯訓練》多媒體教學軟件，2003年9月軟件在兩個班級試用，2004年3月軟件正式大規模應用。迄今為止，課程受益面已包括2001、2002、2003級商務英語專業本科、大專和旅游管理專業本科約1400名學生，以及2003級英語（翻譯方向）的60名學生。作為實踐課程，已對中英合作（商務英語大專）的92名學生在2005-2006學年第二學期開設。到2006年9月項目小組已完成了《商務英語口譯階梯訓練》多媒體教學軟件的版本升級和內容擴充，目前已用于教學。

隨著招生規模的擴大，新的專業方向相繼出現，考慮到不同專業的側重點應有所不同，英語口譯課在為不同專業開設時，內容也作了相應的調整。為英語（商務英語方向）專業的學生開設的英語口譯課改名為商務英語口譯，這既符合外貿學院本身學科體系的要求，又能較好地體現外貿學院的特色。

二、課程的重點、難點

（一）重點：培養學生結合各種不同的情景和場合，根據實際的需要，自如地進行得體的口頭翻譯的能力。

（二）難點：（1）對學習者而言，口譯技巧必須結合中、英文語言知識、語言運用能力和其他方面的豐富的知識儲備才能被充分消化吸收，發揮應有的作用。它是學習者語言能力和知識素養的綜合反映，對學習者的素質要求很高；（2）由于學時的限制，理論學習和實踐訓練往往成為教學中需要取舍的最大難題。

三、教學方法與教學手段的改進

為解決本課程教學過程中遇到的難題，口譯項目小組成員群策群力，對口義的教學方法和手段作了重大調整。

（一）教學方法

（1）教師講解：運用課堂精講，傳授詞匯、句型、語言運用技巧和口譯思維方式。本課程延續一年，每周兩課時。教師在第一學期的前六周，以講授口譯理論、口譯技巧和記錄技巧為主。

（2）師生互動：對上一節課內容的復習、每個口譯專題涉及的主要詞匯預習，就某一主題進行現場模擬口譯等，如安排學生演習記者招待會，參觀訪問等。

（3）學生練習：包括記錄練習和口譯練習。通常每次課請學生用透明膠片做示范，演示口譯記錄，并對記錄的內容作解釋，教師通過對學生所作的示范進行講評，幫助學生提高記錄水平。學生還會在講臺前作口譯練習，一個學生做示范后，其他學生作講評，講評的內容涉及口譯內容的準確程度、所犯的錯誤、改進的方法，同時學生講評還包括溝通效果是否良好，是否和其他同學保持目光接觸、是否流利、是否有多余的小動作等。

（4）模擬口譯：主要是運用口譯軟件，通過人機對話進行。教學中充分利用自主開發設計的電腦軟件創造盡可能多的機會讓學生進行模擬訓練，增加實踐經驗。在經過六周時間的基本口譯技巧訓練后，從第七周開始，每次課第一節課采用教師講解、演示、學生上臺操練等方式，第二節課學生按照教學計劃的規定，以人機對話模擬口譯練習為主。練習按專題分類，內容由淺入深，涉及發展問題，商務談判，禮儀祝辭，外交事務，經濟貿易，金融保險，環境保護，基礎建設，教育文化，法律人權，企業管理，體育與健康，科學技術，旅游餐飲，參觀訪問，世界貿易組織，世博會共17個主題，難易程度依次為單句（包括短句、長句）、段落（包括短段、中段和長短）、模擬和記者招待會。

（5）一對一輔導：通過教師在學生上機過程中的輔導，有針對性地解決學生的具體問題，提高教學效率和改進教學效果；老師做一對一輔導，針對每個學生，肯定他們的長處，指出存在的問題。

（二）教學手段

教學在本院信息樓進行。上課的輔助設備包括已經安裝了口譯軟件的電腦和透明膠片投影。運用透明膠片的主要目的是為了向學生演示口譯記錄，因為有些記錄的符號用電腦顯示反而顯得不真實、不自然，而用手寫方式，更能體現記錄的真面目。

四、本課程的主要特色與創新

通過建設，本課程實現了課堂教學“一對多”向“一對多”和“一對一”并存的順利過渡，既保留了傳統課堂教學模式的優勢，又突破了原有課堂教學的時

空限制。我們自主開發了《商務英語口譯階梯訓練》多媒體教學軟件，該軟件內容豐富、新穎，并為不斷地更新提供了技術條件。從設計理念來說，軟件采用開放式的架構，可以隨時增加素材，保證軟件建設的可持續性，這正反映了口譯課的適時性。軟件的使用增強了學生學習的自主性和靈活性，拓展了學生的學習范圍。學生經過一年學習，口譯能力有明顯提高。

本課程的考試采用人機對話的方式。考試中，學生做模擬口譯，包括英譯漢和漢譯英兩大部分。幾十個學生可同時在一個機房進行考試，同一份考卷題目隨機打亂，避免鄰座的學生同時聽到同樣的聲音。學生用耳機從電腦里聽到英文或中文原語，口譯成相應的目標語，學生在聽的過程中可以記錄。學生的聲音通過教室內的服務器傳輸到教師的手提電腦中，教師通過聽學生的錄音打分，學生的聲音和評閱結果最終刻錄光盤保存。教師聽完學生的錄音后，除了全班講評外，還做“一對一”的講評，當面肯定每個學生的成績，同時指出可以改進的地方。《商務英語口譯階梯訓練軟件》的測試部分為教師提供了出題和閱卷的簡易的操作平臺，簡化了教師批改試卷的流程，且更具科學性。學生測試的實際情況都可以用光盤保存下來，除成為評分依據外，還是非常珍貴的口譯教學的研究材料，便于教師進行整理后利用于教學科研之中。

本課程與國內外同類課程相比，無論從理念還是從授課方式來看都相當先進，尤其是軟件的應用，在國內外都處于領先地位。

五、學校的支持

上海對外貿易學院十分重視精品課程的建設，在經費、教學設施、技術和團隊建設方面都給予了必要的支持。主要包括：

（1）經費支持

自從2002年我們把自主開發《商務英語口譯階梯訓練》軟件的想法向學校的領導作了匯報以后，便得到了領導的高度重視和支持，2003年至2005年相繼投入25 萬元支持我們開發軟件。商務英語口譯課被列為校級精品課程后，為了進一步支持和完善課程的建設，本校于2005年投入課程建設經費5萬元，主要用于與教材開發和編寫、學術交流、多媒體課件制作、試題庫建設等。此外，本課程作為實踐教學的一部分，需要對軟件進行升級，同時我們還開發了《同聲傳譯軟件》，學校把它作為教育高地建設的一部分，于2005年投入24.5萬元的建設經費。學校在經費上強有力的支持為我們做軟件開發提供了重要的財力保障。

（2）教學設施支持

商務英語口譯課的授課需要使用學院語言信息中心的計算機房，用電腦做模擬口譯，學校為此專門在語言信息樓的330臺電腦上安裝了我們自主開發的軟件，保證每次上課時學生都能上機做口譯練習，為本課程建設目標的實現提供了有利的條件和保障。

（3）技術支持

在技術方面，學校的教學技術支持部門給予了大力配合，不僅為我們使用實驗室提供方便，還為我們制作了教學錄像。更令我們感動的是，每年全國召開兩會期間，技術支持部門都會把國家領導人的記者招待會實況錄下來，并制作成光盤，為我們及時提供最新的素材。

（4）團隊建設

如前所述，商務英語口譯課對教師的要求比較高，學校十分關心對口譯教師的培養，2005年本課程教學小組的建設被學校列為團隊建設項目，并給與經費

上的支持，鼓勵有興趣的老師聽課，參加口譯實踐和研討會，極大地激發了教師的積極性。

總之，商務英語口譯課程經過一年的建設，已經取得一些成績。我們預期在三年建設期內，課程的授課內容可以全部上網。目前已上網的內容包括（1）課程信息：課程簡介，英語口譯（I）（II）教學方案；（2）職員信息:所有任課教師信息；（3）課程文檔：英語口譯（I）（II）教學計劃，英語口譯（I）(II)演示文稿；（4）教學錄像：共3講。

今后，我們還將進一步加強師資隊伍建設，對有興趣有潛力的青年教師進行同聲傳譯訓練，以提高教師自身的口譯水平。
