（1）基本用法

1.一般過去時通常用來表示過去發生的動作或存在的狀況。如：

---Where were you last week? 上周你在哪兒？

---I was at my uncle's home in the countryside.（上周）我在鄉下的叔叔家。

2.有些情況，發生時間沒有明確標明，但實際上是過去發生的，應用過去時態；另外，在談到已故去的人時，也多用過去時。如：

He bought a cat, and now they are good friends.他買了一只貓，現在他們是好朋友了。

Lu Xun was a great writer.魯迅是一位偉大的作家。

（2）時間狀語

與一般過去時連用的時間狀語有：yesterday（昨天）, last night（昨晚）, last week（上個星期）, four days ago（四天前）, in 2002（在2002年）, just now（剛才）, the day before yesterday（前天）等。如：

He went to the park yesterday.她昨天去了花園。

I was ten years old in 2001.我2001年才10歲。

（3）動詞的過去式

在一般過去時態中會涉及到動詞的過去式，大家要掌握規則動詞的過去式的變化規則。其基本的變化規則如下：

① 一般情況下，在動詞原形后直接ed。如：play –played , look –looked。

② 以e結尾的動詞在其后加d。如：like –liked, use –used。

③ 與輔音字母加y結尾的動詞，把y變成i 再加ed。如：carry – carried, marry-married。

④ 以重讀閉音節（或r音節）結尾，末尾只有一個輔音字母時，雙寫這個輔音字母，再加ed。如： stop –stopped, prefer –preferred。

④ 表示已故的人所做的事情或情況。如：

2）動詞過去式后的ed到底發什么音？

規則動詞過去式后的“ed”讀音時不一樣的。那么，有什么不一樣呢？有這么幾句口訣：“清讀清，濁讀濁，元音結尾還讀濁，/t/、/d/之后讀/id/。”怎么樣，理解嗎？聽我娓娓道來：“清讀清”，是指動詞以清輔音結尾，那么加的“ed”讀作清輔音/t/，如asked /a:skt/，missed /mist/ 等；動詞以濁輔音或元音結尾，那么加的“ed”讀作濁輔音/d/，如cleaned /kli;nd/，lived /livd/，played /pleid/ 等；動詞以 /t/ 或 /d /結尾，那么加的“ed”讀作濁輔音/id/，如started /sta:tid/，studied /sta:did/ 等。

一、概念：表示在過去某個時間里所發生的動作或存在的狀態。常和明確的過去時間狀語連用。如：yesterday，yesterday morning/ evening，the day before yesterday（前天），last night/week/ month/year，just now（剛才），two days ago，a week ago，in 1990等。如：I went to bed at eleven last night.昨晚我11：00睡覺。

二、行為動詞一般過去時變化規則

三、句式變化

(1)Be動詞在一般過去時中的變化（表狀態）

① am，is過去式為was，was的否定形式wasn’t（= was not）② are過去式為were，were的否定形式weren’t（= were not）

③ 帶有was或were的句子，其否定、疑問的變化和is, am, are一樣，即否定句在was或were后加not，一般疑問句把was或were調到句首。即：1.肯定句：主語+ was/ were+ 表語 例子：I was late yesterday.昨天我遲到了。2.否定句：主語+ was/ were + not + 表語 例子：We were not late yesterday.3.一般疑問句：Was/ Were+ 主語 + 表語 例子：Were you ill yesterday? 你昨天病了嗎？ 肯定回答：Yes, I was.是的，我病了。否定回答：No，I wasn’t.不，我沒病。

一、定義：一般過去時主要表示過去某時發生的動作或情況。

三、一般過去式的時間標志：過去的時間狀語
