Word Order in a Subordinate Clause 從句的順序

在寫英語復合句時,除了需要注意照應主句與從句的時態、人稱、連接詞語 等等之外,還應特別致意從句部分的語序。

英語從句經常用疑問詞引導,如what, who等,但與疑問詞引導的簡單問句不同。從句不使用疑問句語序,而使用陳述句語序,即按主語在前、謂語在后的順序排列。還應注意,因為從句不使用疑問倒裝結構,所以一般現在時和一般過去時不再用do, does, did等助動詞幫助構成從句結構。

1.常用來引導從句的疑問詞有what, when ,where, who, whether, how等,這些疑問詞一般仍保留原有的疑問含義。

She wanted to know when my brother had visited Paris.她想知道我哥哥什么時候游覽過巴黎。

Could you please tell me where we are going.你能告訴我我們到哪里去嗎?

How he plays the trick is a secret.他怎么變這個戲法是個秘密。

2.Whether可以引導主語從句,if 不能引導主語從句,但是兩者都能引導賓語從 句。引導賓語從句時,兩者都表示“是否”的意思,只是if 后面不能加or not。1)主語從句
