Thank you。Thank you all。………。

Very proud of you group。

Thank you my friends。Thank you。Thank you so very much for being here。

And I love you all,too。

Last night I congratulated Donald Trump and offer to work with him on behalf of our country。

I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans。

This is not the outcome we wanted or worked so hard for。

And I am sorry that we did not win this election for the values we share and the visions we hold for our country。

But I feel,I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built together, this vast, diverse, creative, unruly, energized campaign。

You represent the best of America and being your candidate has been one of the greatest honor of my life。

I know how disappointed you feel because I feel it too。

And so do tens of millions of Americans who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort。

This is painful and it will be for a longtime。

But I want you to remember this。

Our campaign was never about one person or even one election。

It was about the country we love and about building an America that’s hopeful, inclusive and big hearted。

We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought。

But I still believe in America and I always will。

And if you do,then we must accept this result and then look to the future。

Donald Trump is going to be our president。We owe him an open mind and a chance to lead。

Our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power。

And we don’t just respect that。We cherish it。

It also enshrines other things – the rule of law,the principle that we are all equal in rights and dignity, freedom of worship and expression。

We respect and cherish these values too。And we must defend them。

And let me add,our constitutional democracy demands our participation。Not just every 4 years but all the time。

So let’s do all we can to keep advancing the courses and values we all hold dear, making our economy work for everyone, not just those at the top, protecting our country and protecting our planet and breaking all the barriers that hold any American back from achieving their dreams。

We spent a year and a half bringing together billions of people from every corner of our country to say with onevoice that we believe that the American dream is big enough for everyone, for people of all races and religions, for men and women, for immigrants, for LGBT people and people with disabilities, for everyone。

So now,our responsibility as citizens is to keep doing our part to build that better, stronger, fairer America we seek。

And I know you will。

I am so grateful to stand with all of you。

I wanna thank Tim Kaine and Ann Holton for being our partners on this journey。

It has been a joy to get to know them better and it gives me great hope and comfort to know that Tim will remain on the front lines of our democracy representing Virginia as a Senator。

To Barack and Michelle Obama, our country owes you an enormous debt of gratitude。

We thank you for your graceful, determined leadership that has meant so much for so many Americans and people across the world。

And to Bill and Chelsea,Mark,Charlotte,Aiden, our brothers and our entire family,my love for you is more than I can ever express。

You crisscrossed this country on our behalf and lifted me up when I needed it most even 4-month-old Aiden who traveled with his mom。

I will always be grateful to the creative, talented, dedicated men and women at our headquarters in Brooklyn and across our country。

You poured your hearts into this campaign。For some of you who are veterans it’s a campaign after you had done other campaigns。Some of you,it was your first campaign。

I want each of you to know that you are the best campaign anybody could ever expected or wanted。

And to the millions of volunteers, community leaders, activists and union organizers who knocked down doors, talked to neighbors, posted on facebook, even in secret private facebook sites,I want everybody to come out from behind that and make sure your voices are heard going forward。

For everyone that sent in contributions as small as 5 dollars that kept us going, thank you, thank you from all of us。

And to the young people in particular,I hope you will hear this。

I have,as Tim said, spent my entire adult life fighting for what I believe in。

I had successes and I had setbacks, sometimes really painful ones。

Many of you are at the beginning of your professional, public and political careers。

You will have successes and setbacks too。

This loss hurts。But please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it。

It is。It is worth it。

And so we need you to keep up these fights now and the rest of your life。

And to all the women, and especially the young women, who put their faith in this campaign and in me,I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion。

Now,I know that we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but someday someone will and hopefully sooner than we might think right now。

And to all the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you’re valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams。

Finally, finally,I am so grateful for our country and for all it has given to me。

I count my blessings every single day that I am an American。

And I still believe as deeply as I ever have that if we stand together and work together with respect for our differences, strength in our convictions and love for this nation our best days are still ahead of us。

Because, you know,I believe we are stronger together and we will go forward together。

And you should never, ever regret fighting for that。

You know, scripture tells us,let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart。

So my friends, let us have faith in each other, let us not grow weary and lose heart, for there are more seasons to come and there is more work to do。

I am incredibly honored and grateful to have had this chance to represent all of you in this consequential election。

May God bless you and may God bless the United States of America。

Thank you so much.Thank you all.

Well, this isn't exactly the party I'd planned, but I sure like the company.(APPLAUSE)

I want to start today by saying how grateful I am to all of you--to everyone who poured your hearts and your hopes into this campaign, who drove for miles and lined the streets waving homemade signs, who scrimped and saved to raise money, who knocked on doors and made calls, who talked and sometimes argued with your friends and neighbors,(APPLAUSE)who e-mailed and contributed online, who invested so much in our common enterprise. To the moms and dads who came to our events, who lifted their little girls and little boys on their shoulders and whispered in their ears, “See, you can be anything you want to be.”(APPLAUSE)

To the young people, like 13-year-old Ann Riddle from Mayfield, Ohio, who had been saving for two years to go to Disney World, and decided to use her savings instead to travel to Pennsylvania with her mom and volunteer there as well.To the veterans and the childhood friends, to New Yorkers and Arkansans who traveled across the country, telling anyone who would listen why you supported me.

To all those women in their 80s and their 90s, born before women could vote, who cast their votes for our campaign.I've told you before about Florence Steen of South Dakota, who was 88 years old, and insisted that her daughter bring an absentee ballot to her hospice bedside. Her daughter and a friend put an American flag behind her bed and helped her fill out the ballot. She passed away soon after, and under state law, her ballot didn't count. But her daughter later told a reporter, “My dad's an ornery old cowboy, and he didn't like it when he heard mom's vote wouldn't be counted.I don't think he had voted in 20 years. But he voted in place of my mom.”(APPLAUSE)感謝那些在女性可以有選舉權之前出生的八、九十歲并在競選活動中投票的女士們。 ‖

To all those who voted for me, and to whom I pledged my utmost, my commitment to you and to the progress we seek, is unyielding. You have inspired and touched me with the stories of the joys and sorrows that make up the fabric of our lives, and you have humbled me with your commitment to our country.

Eighteen million of you from all walks of life--women and men, young and old, Latino and Asian, African-American and Caucasian, rich, poor and middle-class, gay and straight--you have stood strong with me.And I will continue to stand strong with you, every time, every place and every way that I can.The dreams we share are worth fighting for.2

Remember--we fought for the single mom with a young daughter, juggling work and school, who told me, “I'm doing it all to better myself for her.” We fought for the woman who grabbed my hand, and asked me, “What are you going to do to make sure I have health care?” and began to cry, because even though she works three jobs, she can't afford insurance.

We fought for the young man in the Marine Corps T-shirt who waited months for medical care and said, “Take care of my buddies over there--and then, will you please help take care of me?”(APPLAUSE)We fought for all those who've lost jobs and health care, who can't afford gas or groceries or college, who have felt invisible to their president these last seven years.

I entered this race because I have an old-fashioned conviction: that public service is about helping people solve their problems and live their dreams.I've had every opportunity and blessing in my own life--and I want the same for all Americans.Until that day comes, you will always find me on the front lines of democracy--fighting for the future.(APPLAUSE)The way to continue our fight now--to accomplish the goals for which we stand--is to take our energy, our passion, our strength and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama the next president of the United States.(APPLAUSE)

Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run.I endorse him, and throw my full support behind him.(APPLAUSE)And I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me.(APPLAUSE)

I have served in the Senate with him for four years.I have been in this campaign with him for 16 months.I have stood on the stage and gone toe-to-toe with him in 22 debates.I have had a front row seat to his candidacy, and I have seen his strength and determination, his grace and his grit.

In his own life, Barack Obama has lived the American Dream. As a community organizer, in the state senate, as a United States senator--he has dedicated himself to ensuring the dream is realized. And in this campaign, he has inspired so many to become involved in the democratic process and invested in our common future.

Now, when I started this race, I intended to win back the White House, and make sure we have a president who puts our country back on the path to peace, prosperity and progress. And that's exactly what we're going to do by ensuring that Barack Obama walks through the doors of the Oval Office on Jan.20, 2009.(APPLAUSE)當我開始競選時,我的目的就只有一個,那就是贏回白宮,保證我們中走出一名總統,把我們的國家帶回到和平,繁榮和發展的軌道上來。

I understand that we all know this has been a tough fight. The Democratic Party is a family, and it's now time to restore the ties that bind us together and to come together around the ideals we share, the values we cherish and the country we love.

We may have started on separate journeys--but today, our paths have merged. And we are all heading toward the same destination, united and more ready than ever to win in November and to turn our country around, because so much is at stake.

We all want an economy that sustains the American Dream, the opportunity to work hard and have that work rewarded;to save for college, a home, and retirement;to afford that gas and those groceries and still have a little left over at the end of the month. An economy that lifts all of our people and ensures that our prosperity is

broadly distributed and shared.

We all want a health care system that is universal, high-quality and affordable,(APPLAUSE)so that parents no longer have to choose between care for themselves or their children or be stuck in dead-end jobs simply to keep their insurance. This isn't just an issue for me, it is a passion and a cause, and it is a fight I will continue until every single American is insured--no exceptions, no excuses。(APPLAUSE)

We all want an America defined by deep and meaningful equality--from civil rights to labor rights,(APPLAUSE)from women's rights to gay rights, from ending discrimination to promoting unionization to providing help for the most important job there is: caring for our families.

We all want to restore America's standing in the world, to end the war in Iraq and once again lead by the power of our values(APPLAUSE), and to join with our allies to confront our shared challenges, from poverty and genocide to terrorism and global warming.

You know, I've been involved in politics and public life in one way or another for four decades.(APPLAUSE)During those 40 years, our country has voted 10 times for president.Democrats won only three of those times. And the man who won two of those elections is with us today.(APPLAUSE)

We made tremendous progress during the 90s under a Democratic president, with a flourishing economy, and our leadership for peace and security respected around the world.Just think how much more progress we could have made over the past 40 years if we had a Democratic president.Think about the lost opportunities of these past seven years--on the environment and the economy, on health care and civil rights, on education, foreign policy and the Supreme Court.Imagine how far we could've come, how much we could've achieved, if we had just had a Democrat in the White House.90年代,在民主黨的總統的領導下我們取得了極大的進步。

We cannot let this moment slip away.We have come too far and accomplished too much.

Now, the journey ahead will not be easy. Some will say we can't do it.That it's too hard. That we're just not up to the task. But for as long as America has existed, it has been the American way to reject “can't-do” claims, and to choose instead to stretch the boundaries of the possible through hard work, determination and a pioneering spirit.

It is this belief, this optimism, that Senator Obama and I share, and that has inspired so many millions of our supporters to make their voices heard.

So today, I am standing with Senator Obama to say: Yes we can.(APPLAUSE)

Together, we will work. We'll have to work hard to get universal health care. But on the day we live in an America where no child, no man and no woman is without health insurance, we will live in a stronger America. That's why we need to help elect Barack Obama our president.(APPLAUSE)

We'll have to work hard to get back to fiscal responsibility and a strong middle class. But on the day we live in an America whose middle class is thriving and growing again, where all Americans, no matter where they live or where their ancestors came from, can earn a decent living, we will live in a stronger America, and that is why we must elect Barack Obama our president.(APPLAUSE)

We'll have to work hard to foster the innovation that makes us energy-independent and lift the threat of global warming from our children's future. But on the day we live in an America fueled by renewable energy, we will live in a stronger America. That's why we have to help elect Barack Obama our president.(APPLAUSE)

We'll have to work hard to bring our troops home from Iraq, and get them the support they've earned by their service. But on the day we live in an America that's as loyal to our troops as they have been to us,we will live in astronger America and that is why we must help elect Barack Obama our President.(APPLAUSE)

This election is aturning point election and it is critical that we all understand what our choice really is.Will we go forward together or will we stall and slip backwards.Think how much progress we have already made.

When we first started, people everywhere asked the same questions:Could awoman really serve as Commander-in-Chief?Well,I think we answered that one.(APPLAUSE)

And could an African American really be our President?Senator Obama has answered that one.(APPLAUSE)Together Senator Obama and Iachieved milestones essential to our progress as anation, part of our perpetual duty to form amore perfect union.

Now,on a personal note– when I was asked what it means to be awoman running for President,I always gave the same answer:that I was proud to be running as a woman but I was running because I thought I'd be the best President(APPLAUSE)

.But I am a woman, and like millions of women,I know there are still barriers and biases out there, often unconscious.I want to build an America that respects and embraces the potential of every last one of us.(APPLAUSE)

I ran as a daughter who benefited from opportunities my mother never dreamed of.I ran as a mother who worries about my daughter's future and a mother who wants to lead all children to brighter tomorrows.

To build that future I see,we must make sure that women

and men alike understand the struggles of their grandmothers and mothers, and that women enjoy equal opportunities, equal pay,and equal respect.(APPLAUSE)要實現這樣的未來,我們必須要確保每一個人——無論男女——都了解他們的祖母和母親們曾經的奮斗,并明白婦女享有平等的機會、公平的報酬和同等的尊重。Let us resolve and work toward achieving some very simple propositions:There are no acceptable limits and there are no acceptable prejudices in the twenty-first century.(APPLAUSE)

You can be so proud that, from now on,it will be unremarkable for a woman to win primary state victories, unremarkable to have a woman in aclose race to be our nominee, unremarkable to think that a woman can be the President of the United States. And that is truly remarkable.(APPLAUSE)

To those who are disappointed that we couldn't go all the way– especially the young people who put so much into this campaign-it would break my heart if,in falling short of my goal,I in any way discouraged any of you from pursuing yours.

Always aim high, work hard, and care deeply about what you believe in.When you stumble, keep faith. When you're knocked down, get right back up.And never listen to anyone who says you can't or shouldn't go on.(APPLAUSE)

As we gather here today in this historic magnificent building, the 50th woman to leave this Earth is orbiting over head.If we can blast 50 wo men into space,we will someday launch a woman into the White House.(APPLAUSE)

Although we weren't able to shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling this time, thanks to you,it's got about 18 million cracks in it.(APPLAUSE)And the light is shining through like never before, filling us all with the hope and the sure knowledge that the path will be alittle easier next time.

That has always been the history of progress in America.Think of the suffragists who gathered at Seneca Falls in 1848 and those who kept fighting until women could cast their votes. Think of the abolitionists who struggled and died to see the end of slavery.Think of the civil rights heroes and foot-soldiers who marched protested and risked their lives to bring about the end to segregation and Jim Crow.(APPLAUSE)

Because of them,I grew up taking for granted that women could vote.Because of them,my daughter grew up taking for granted that children of all colors could go to school together.

Because of them,Barack Obama and Icould wage ahard fought campaign for the Demo cratic nomination.Because of them, and because of you, children today will grow up taking for granted that an African American or awoman can yes, become President of the United States.(APPLAUSE)

When that day arrives and awoman takes the oath of office as our President,we will all stand taller, proud of the values of our nation, proud that every little girl can dream and that her dreams can come true in America. And all of you will know that because of your passion and hard work you helped pave the way for that day.So I want to say to my supporters, when you hear people saying– or think to yourself–“if only”or“what if,”I say,“please don't go there.” Every moment wasted looking back keeps us from moving forward.(APPLAUSE)

Life is too short, time is too precious, and the stakes are too high to dwell on what might have been.We have to work together for what still can be.And that is why Iwill work my heart out to make sure that Senator Obama is our next President. And I hope and pray that all of you will join me in that effort.(APPLAUSE)我希望并祈禱你們全都能加入我,以貢獻你們的全部力量。

To my supporters and colleagues in Congress,to the governors and mayors, elected officials who stood with me,in good times and in bad, thank you for your strength and leadership.

To my friends in our labor unions who stood strong every step of the way– I thank you and pledge my support to you.

To my friends, from every stage of my life– your love and on going commitments sustain me every single day.

To my family– especially Bill and Chelsea and my mother, you mean the world to me and I thank you for all you have done.(APPLAUSE)

And to my extraordinary staff, volunteers and supporters, thank you for working those long, hard hours(APPLAUSE).Thank you for dropping everything– leaving work or school– traveling to places you'd never been, sometimes for months on end.And thanks to your families as well because your sacrifice was theirs too.All of you were there for me every step of the way Being human,we are imperfect. That's why we need each other. To catch each other when we falter. To encourage each other when we lose heart. Some may lead;others may follow;but none of us can go it alone.

The changes we're working for are changes that we can only accomplish together.Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are rights that belong to each of us as individuals. But our lives, our freedom, our happiness, are best enjoyed, best protected, and best advanced when we do work together.

That is what we will do now as we join forces with Senator Obama and his campaign. We will make history together as we write the next chapter in America's story. We will stand united for the values we hold dear, for the vision of progress we share, and for the country we love. There is nothing more American than that.

And looking out at you today,I have never felt so blessed. The challenges that I have faced in this campaign are nothing compared to those that millions of Americans face every day in their own lives.

So today,I'm going to count my blessings and keep on going.I'm going to keep doing what Iwas doing long before the cameras ever showed up and what I'll be doing long after they're gone:Working to give every American the same opportunities I had,and working to ensure that every child has the chance to grow up and achieve his or her God-given potential. I will do it with aheart filled with gratitude, with adeep and abiding love for our country– and with nothing but optimism and confidence for the days ahead. This is now our time to do all that we can to make sure that in this election we add another Democratic president to that very small list of the last 40 years and that we take back our country and once again move with progress and commitment to the future.Thank you all and God bless you and God bless America.

Thank you.Thank you.Thank you, so much.Thank you, all.Thank you very, very much.Well, this isn't exactly the party I'd planned, but I sure like the company. And I want to start today by saying how grateful I am to all of you,to everyone who poured your hearts and your hopes into this campaign, who drove for miles and lined the streets waving homemade signs, who scrimped and saved to raise money, who knocked on doors and made calls, who talked, sometimes argued with your friends and neighbors, who e-mailed and contributed online, who invested so much in our common enterprise,to the moms and dads who came to our events, who lifted their little girls and little boys on their shoulders and whispered in their ears,“See, you can be anything you want to be.”

To the young people like-a 13-year-old Anne Riddell from Mayfield, Ohio, who had been saving for two years to go to Disney World and decided to use her savings instead to travel to Pennsylvania with her mom and volunteer there, as well.To the veterans, to the childhood friends, to New Yorkers and Arkansans-who traveled across the country, telling anyone who would listen why you supported me.And to all of those women in their 80s and their 90s-born before women could vote, who cast their votes for our campaign.I've told you before about Florence Stein of South Dakota who was 88 years old and insisted that her daughter bring an absentee ballot to her hospice bedside. Her daughter and a friend put an American flag behind her bed and helped her fill out the ballot. She passed away soon after and, under state law, her ballot didn't count, but her daughter later told a reporter,“My dad's an ornery, old cowboy, and he didn't like it when he heard mom's vote wouldn't be counted.I don't think he had voted in 20 years, but he voted in place of my mom.”

So to all those who voted for me and to whom I pledged my utmost, my commitment to you and to the progress we seek is unyielding. You have inspired and touched me with the stories of the joys and sorrows that make up the fabric of our lives. And you have humbled me with your commitment to our country.Eighteen million of you, from all walks of life

-women and men, young and old, Latino and Asian, African-American and Caucasian rich, poor, and middle-class, gay and straight, you have stood with me.And I will continue to stand strong with you every time, every place, in every way that I can.The dreams we share are worth fighting for.Remember, we fought for the single mom with the young daughter, juggling work and school, who told me, “Im doing it all to better myself for her.”

We fought for the woman who grabbed my hand and asked me, “What are you going to do to make sure I have health care?” and began to cry, because even though she works three jobs, she can't afford insurance.

We fought for the young man in the Marine Corps T-shirt who waited months for medical care and said,“Take care of my buddies over there, and then will you please take care of me?”

We fought for all those who've lost jobs and health care, who can't afford gas or groceries or college, who have felt invisible to their president these last seven years.I entered this race because I have an old-fashioned conviction that public service is about helping people solve their problems and live their dreams.I've had every opportunity and blessing in my own life, and I want the same for all Americans. And until that day comes, you'll always find me on the front lines of democracy, fighting for the future. The way-the way to continue our fight now, to accomplish the goals for which we stand is to take our energy, our passion, our strength, and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama, the next president of the United States.

Today, as I suspend my campaign,I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run.I endorse him and throw my full support behind him.And I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me.I have served in the Senate with him for four years.I have been in this campaign with him for 16 months.I have stood on the stage and gone toe-to-toe with him in 22 debates.I've had a front-row seat to his candidacy, and I have seen his strength and determination, his grace and his grit.In his own life, Barack Obama has lived the American dream, as a community organizer. In the State Senate, as a United States senator, he has dedicated himself to ensuring the dream is realized. And in this campaign, he has inspired so many to become involved in the democratic process and invested in our common future. Now, when I started this race,I intended to win back the White House and make sure we have a president who puts our country back on the path to peace, prosperity and progress. And that's exactly what we're going to, by ensuring that Barack Obama walks through the doors of the Oval Office on January 20, 2009.

Thank you all.Thank you so much. You know, it’s hard to believe that it has been eight years since I first came to this convention to talk with you about why I thought my husband should be president.

Remember how I told you about his character and convictions, his decency and his grace, the traits that we’ve seen every day that he’s served our country in the White House?

I also told you about our daughters, how they are the heart of our hearts, the center of our world. And during our time in the White House, we’ve had the joy of watching them grow from bubbly little girls into poised young women, a journey that started soon after we arrived in Washington.

可千萬別把心頭肉翻譯成flesh on my heart哦。

Have the joy of doing sth.

When they set off for their first day at their new school, I will never forget that winter morning as I watched our girls, just 7 and 10 years old, pile into those black SUVs with all those big men with guns. And I saw their little faces pressed up against the window, and the only thing I could think was, what have we done?

Set off for sth.的意思是“開始著手做某事”,也可以說set off for doing sth.比如:He sets off for building his own house.

See, because at that moment I realized that our time in the White House would form the foundation for who they would become and how well we managed this experience could truly make or break them.

Make sb. 不過make sb. You are my childhood idol.You made me.(你是我的童年偶像,是你成就了我。) I am a monster.But it’s you who made me.(我是個怪物。

That is what Barack and I think about every day as we try to guide and protect our girls through the challenges of this unusual life in the spotlight, how we urge them to ignore those who question their father’s citizenship or faith. How we insist that the hateful language they hear from public figures on TV does not represent the true spirit of this country. How we explain that when someone is cruel or acts like a bully, you don’t stoop to their level. No, our motto is, when they go low, we go high.

With every word we utter, with every action we take, we know our kids are watching us.We as parents are their most important role models. And let me tell you, Barack and I take that same approach to our jobs as president and first lady because we know that our words and actions matter, not just to our girls, but the children across this country, kids who tell us I saw you on TV, I wrote a report on you for school.Kids like the little black boy who looked up at my husband, his eyes wide with hope and he wondered, is my hair like yours?

Matter在這里的用法和it doesn’t matter里是一樣的,表示“舉足輕重”,意思基本等同于make a difference。

表達“全國”可以用across the country、all over the country、throughout the country. And make no mistake about it, this November when we go to the polls that is what we’re deciding, not Democrat or Republican, not left or right. No, in this election and every election is about who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives.

Shape your future.

And I am here tonight because in this election there is only one person who I trust with that responsibility, only one person who I believe is truly qualified to be president of the United States, and that is our friend Hillary Clinton.

Trust sb.with sth. I trust you with what you do.(我信任你的專業能力)。 I’ll trust you with my money.(我會將我的錢托付給你)。

Be qualified to do sth.

That’s right.See, I trust Hillary to lead this country because I’ve seen her lifelong devotion to our nation’s children, not just her own daughter, who she has raised to perfection, but every child who needs a champion, kids who take the long way to school to avoid the gangs, kids who wonder how they’ll ever afford college, kids whose parents don’t speak a word of English, but dream of a better life, kids who look to us to determine who and what they can be.

Ever

Look to sb.to do sth.

You see, Hillary has spent decades doing the relentless, thankless work to actually make a difference in their lives, advocating for kids with disabilities as a young lawyer, fighting for children’s health care as first lady, and for quality child care in the Senate.

And when she didn’t win the nomination eight years ago, she didn’t get angry or disillusioned.Hillary did not pack up and go home, because as a true public servant Hillary knows that this is so much bigger than her own desires and disappointments. So she proudly stepped up to serve our country once again as secretary of state, traveling the globe to keep our kids safe.

And look, there were plenty of moments when Hillary could have decided that this work was too hard, that the price of public service was too high, that she was tired of being picked apart for how she looks or how she talks or even how she laughs. But here’s the thing. What I admire most about Hillary is that she never buckles under pressure. She never takes the easy way out.And Hillary Clinton has never quit on anything in her life.

Take the easy way out的意思是“選擇更容易而非正確的道路”。

And when I think about the kind of president that I want for my girls and all our children, that’s what I want.

I want someone with the proven strength to persevere, someone who knows this job and takes it seriously, someone who understands that the issues a president faces are not black and white and cannot be boiled down to 140 characters.

Take something seriously

Be boiled down to表示“可以總結為”,也可以用主動形式:it boils down to。

Because when you have the nuclear codes at your fingertips and the military in your command, you can’t make snap decisions. You can’t have a thin skin or a tendency to lash out.You need to be steady and measured and well-informed.

Thin skin

I want a president with a record of public service, someone whose life’s work shows our children that we don’t chase fame and fortune for ourselves, we fight to give everyone a chance to succeed.

And we give back even when we’re struggling ourselves because we know that there is always someone worse off.And there but for the grace of God go I.就算當我們苦苦掙扎的時候,也要回報這個社會,因為總有人的生活比你還艱難。

I want a president who will teach our children that everyone in this country matters, a president who truly believes in the vision that our Founders put forth all those years ago that we are all created equal, each a beloved part of the great American story.

Put forth a vision,

And when crisis hits, we don’t turn against each other. No, we listen to each other, we lean on each other, because we are always stronger together.

And I am here tonight because I know that that is the kind of president that Hillary Clinton will be.And that’s why in this election I’m with her.

You see, Hillary understands that the president is about one thing and one thing only, it’s about leaving something better for our kids. That’s how we’ve always moved this country forward, by all of us coming together on behalf of our children, folks who volunteer to coach that team, to teach that Sunday school class, because they know it takes a village.

Heroes of every color and creed who wear the uniform and risk their lives to keep passing down those blessings of liberty, police officers and the protesters in Dallas who all desperately want to keep our children safe.People who lined up in Orlando to donate blood because it could have been their son, their daughter in that club.

Leaders like Tim Kaine who show our kids what decency and devotion look like.Leaders like Hillary Clinton who has the guts and the grace to keep coming back and putting those cracks in that highest and hardest glass ceiling until she finally breaks through, lifting all of us along with her.

Glass ceiling,

That is the story of this country, the story that has brought me to this stage tonight, the story of generations of people who felt the lash of bondage, the shame of servitude, the sting of segregation, but who kept on striving and hoping and doing what needed to be done so that today I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves. And I watch my daughters, two beautiful, intelligent, black young women playing with their dogs on the White House lawn.

And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all our sons and daughters now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States.

So, look, so don’t let anyone ever tell you that this country isn’t great, that somehow we need to make it great again.Because this right now is the greatest country on earth!

And as my daughters prepare to set out into the world, I want a leader who is worthy of that truth, a leader who is worthy of my girls’ promise and all our kids’ promise, a leader who will be guided every day by the love and hope and impossibly big dreams that we all have for our children.

So in this election, we cannot sit back and hope that everything works out for the best.We cannot afford to be tired or frustrated or cynical. No, hear me.Between now and November, we need to do what we did eight years ago and four years ago.

We need to knock on every door, we need to get out every vote, we need to pour every last ounce of our passion and our strength and our love for this country into electing Hillary Clinton as president of the United States of America!

So let’s get to work.Thank you all and God bless.
