中美建交27年來，在中美雙方的共同努力下，兩國經貿合作迅猛增長。按中方統計，2005年雙邊貿易達到2,116億美元，是建交時的86倍。目前美國是中國第二大貿易伙伴，中國是美國第三大貿易伙伴。//中國加入世貿組織以來的5年，是美對華出口增長最快的5年。2001至2005年，兩國貿易額年均增長27.4%，美對華出口年均增長21.5％，2005年美對華出口額比2001年增長118％，是美對全球出口增幅的4.9倍，遠高于美對其他所有主要出口市場的增長率，// 中國由2001年美第九大出口市場躍升為2005年的第四大出口市場，成為帶動美出口增長的主要因素。/ 今年前10個月，美對華出口額接近500億美元，超過去年全年的出口額，增幅達24%。如能保持這一增長勢頭，2007年中國有可能躍升為美國第三大出口市場。// 在雙邊貿易快速增長的同時，雙向投資得到快速發展。美國是中國最大的外資來源地之一。截至2006年10月底，美在華累計投資設立企業51,352家，實際對華投入資金超過529億美元。// 目前，中國已成為美國企業海外利潤的主要來源地之一，2005年美在華投資企業實現利潤總額約97億美元。與此同時，美企業通過投資不斷擴大在中國市場的占有份額，2005年在中國國內市場的銷售額達770億美元。//近年來，中國政府采取積極措施，推進有實力的中國企業到海外投資，截至2005年底，中國企業海外累計投資額約670億美元，2005當年達70億美元。// 與此同時，中國對美投資快速增長，截至2006年10月底，中國企業在美直接投資近30億美元。目前，美國已成為中國企業“走出去”拓展海外業務的重要目的地之一。// 海爾、華為、中遠、中石油、聯想等不少中國知名企業在美取得良好業績的同時，為解決當地就業、促進美國經濟與社會發展作出了積極貢獻。// 當然，也要看到，作為一個發展中國家，中國企業進行海外投資還缺乏經驗。希望中國的企業家們充分學習和借鑒包括美國在內的眾多跨國公司海外投資的成功經驗，加強對外合作，在開拓國際業務方面取得新的進展。// 最后，再次感謝俄州及克里夫蘭市對代表團給予的熱情歡迎和周到的安排。感謝中美企業家的積極參與。祝中美貿易投資合作研討會圓滿成功！謝謝大家！//（中華人民共和國商務部副部長馬秀紅在中美貿易投資合作研討會上的講話節選，2006年12月）

我們的報價是以成本和合理的利潤為依據，不是漫天要價。

B: To my knowledge, many factories have been established to produce machine tools.We only ask that your prices be comparable with others.That’s reasonable, isn’t it? A: 但你們應該意識到我們工廠有多年生產機床產品的經驗,所以我們的產品質量是優質的。

如果你們的購買量足夠大，我們愿意降價2％。
