《商務英語函電》精品課程自查報告
《商務英語函電》是國際商務專業、電子商務專業、商務英語專業的一門核心專業課程。課程教學內容以國際貿易流程為主線構建,涵蓋建立業務關系、詢價、報盤、還盤、訂貨、支付、包裝、裝運、保險、索賠等磋商環節,主要教授信函的行文結構、外貿專業詞匯及語言文體等特點,讓學生系統地學習、掌握外貿英文函電寫作及處理技能。一年多來,課程組全體教師以建設具有特色和一流教學水平的課程為已任,精心研究和制定了精品課程建設規劃,課程組負責人認真履行職責、課程組教師齊心協力,嚴格按規劃逐一進行實施,使精品課程在教學隊伍、教學內容、教學條件、教學方法與手段等各方面都有了較明顯的改善和提高,初步建成了一支具有較強師資隊伍、教學內容新穎、教學方法靈活、教學手段先進、教學效果良好、具有一定示范作用的課程。
課程建設的情況
包括課程建設規劃、師資隊伍建設、教學計劃、教學改革與研究等;
1.《商務英語函電》課程建設指導思想、目標
學院制定了一系列專門的規章制度對課程建設進行管理與監督。通過提供資金支持、政策傾斜等措施提高教師進行課程建設的積極性。
該課程的建設一是體現理論聯系實際的教育思想,強調理論在實踐中的應用,增強學生對通過函電進行外貿業務活動的感性認識;二是體現通過實踐活動促進學生對知識的消化,加深對理論的理解;三是體現實踐活動有利于對學生發現問題、分析問題、解決問題能力的培養的原則,實踐性教學對學生知識能力的內化起促進作用,從而促使學生知識能力素質的協調發展;四是依據國際貿易流程設計實訓項目,突出實訓項目的仿真性與可操作性;五是強調學生創新能力與創新精神的培養,綜合實訓與設計性實訓占有一定比例。
2、《商務英語函電》課程的主要特色
①課程內容不斷更新,體現實用,夠用的原則。
書面交流的內容很廣泛,我們圍繞專業培養目標、畢業生就業崗位能力要求,由課程建設小組集體討論,整合課程內容,調整課程結構。打破教材條條框框。②創設問題情境,進行模擬教學。
在課堂教學中,學生從一開始就分成不同的小組。每個小組要創建自己的機構(公司),在小組之間尋求各自的業務伙伴,直至最后的業務成交。隨著課程任務的推進,學生也完成了一系列信函交流任務,熟悉了整個業務交往流程。
③突出學生實踐能力培養,教學內容貼近崗位實際需求。每學期組織學生進行整個業務環節實際操作,根據交易的實際情況撰寫不同內容的信函,體現了“邊學邊用,學用結合”的教學思想;在分配的技能實踐學習中,重點對目前國際商務活動中較多使用的信函和較常碰到的問題為切入點,以“問題”為教學出發點,體現了“實用為主,夠用為度”的教學理念;
另外,實習期間讓學生在公司不同部門進行各個業務環節的崗上實踐,體現了“以服務為宗旨,以就業為導向”的教育思想。
二、在2007年度開展本課程建設的主要措施及成效
1.本課程的教學大綱、教學課件、授課計劃、習題、教學案例、參考文獻等內容已在學校網站上開通,2.繼續完善各項上網材料, 在授課過程中,針對教學內容和重點難點問題,及時對該課程的電子課件內容進行修改、補充、完善,以求內容更加充實,力爭達到最好的教學效果 3.學校出資,用于本精品課程的設計開發。
4.來自教學督導及學生的評價:通過對學習該課程學生問卷調查和學生教學質量座談會調查,督導和學生對課堂教學的反映為:教師教學認真、嚴謹,講課熟練,并能突出重點、注 1 意學生興趣和素質教育;課件條理性、邏輯性強,思路清晰,并穿插大量動畫和視頻,使理論與實踐相結合。督導和學生對本課程教學的總體評價為“優良”。
5.實踐性教學的開展,使教學內容更加生動形象、系統,更具有吸引力、直觀性和科學性,有效地激發了學生的學習興趣,充分發揮了學生的主觀能動性。在實訓過程中學生將所學的英文函電、國際貿易實務、商務談判等課程的理論知識運用到具體的業務函件處理之中,將專業知識融會貫通,在較短的時間內全面、系統地掌握外貿英文函電規范撰寫技術及進出口業務主要操作技能,畢業生因實際操作動手能力強,交際溝通技能過硬,很快便能適應外貿工作,成為工作單位業務骨干。
三、今后幾年課程建設遠景規劃
1.不斷更新多媒體教學課件,力求使用更加方便,重點更加突出,形式更加新穎。
2.進一步加強實踐性教學環節,突出學生動手能力的培養。進一步利用國際商務實訓室及校外的實訓基地,讓學生在真實的業務環境中完成商務函電的寫作,培養學生的處理實際問題的能力。
3.在教材建設,爭取根據需要自編教材。
4.進一步加強師資隊伍建設和教學管理,完善師資梯隊,建設合 理的學歷結構、年齡結構、學緣結構的師資梯隊,提高課程組教師的創新能力和業務水平;促進教學思想、教學觀念和教學方法的改革,使教學質量不斷提高。

本課程建設的必要性和可行性
根據我校《04-10年發展規劃》,學校的辦學定位為“以本科教育和培養應用型人才為主的、國際化的、辦學特色鮮明的社會主義商科類大學”。這一辦學定位,秉承了我校40多年發展進程中逐步形成的“以人才市場需求為導向、以教學和科研為中心、以增強辦學特色為抓手、以學生成才為本位”的辦學理念。所謂培養人才,就是要把我們的學生培養成“能適應貨物貿易、服務貿易、知識貿易不同領域需要的各類國際商務專業人才”。
根據這一辦學定位,進出口英語函電的具體任務是:傳授在國際貿易以及與國際貿易相關的銀行、運輸、保險等國際間商務活動中進行書面溝通的寫作閱讀技巧,應對策略,以及語言、文化、商業層面的有關知識。同時,由于進出口函電是記錄進出口業務的全過程的重要文書,因此,本課程在傳授以進出口業務為主的國際商務的主要交際語言的專業——商務英語專業——所設置的課程中占有主導地位,是商務英語專業的核心課程之一。
自我校于1960年成立之日起,即設有外貿英語函電課程,至今已有40多年歷史。至“文革”結束前,對該課程的改革,基本上局限于在教材上革除一些中文譯文中過于陳舊迂腐的詞語,而在英文的詞語方面,未作大的修改,教材的內容以信函和電報為主。文革結束后,尤其隨著我國改革開放深入和科學技術的進步,本課程的內容增加了“三來一補”、討論創建中外合資企業的內容,而函電的形式增加了電傳信息的撰寫等內容。1997年,本課程被立項為 2 市教委重點建設課程。在該次建設中,教改的重點是根據隨著改革開放我國對外貿易方式的變革,以及電腦技術進步帶來電子郵件在外貿函電中的應用,精簡原教材中與實際業務操作不符的單元,將電報、電傳的教學內容與E-mail的撰寫合并為“電子信函”一個單元向學生作簡略的介紹;同時,增加了“其他付款方式”一單元,以使教材更符合實際業務情況;根據我國即將加入世貿組織的新形式,新教材的范例信函收列了與提供服務的跨國企業進行付款、保險、運輸等事宜磋商、及商討購買軟件等知識產權的信件。
在具體的語言教學內容上,新教材根據張春鉷老師提出的“有指導的交際法”guided communicative approach的教學思路,根據中國學生學英語、特別是寫作時易犯的典型錯誤,專門設計了一套練習,培養學生用規范的英語進行寫作的技能。可以說,該教材在全書的設計策劃、教學法指導思想、練習模式、文字內容、乃至版式等都體現了進出口英語函電教學的新理念,也是我校進出口函電課程的教學改革的一次重大實踐。
1999年本課程的教師承擔了上海市教委的“世界銀行資助的上海市普通高等學校課程建設項目”,編寫了與新教材配套的《參考答案及簡析》、《參考譯文》、《題庫》。
2001年,部分教師在研究了語用學的理論后,根據Grice的“合作原理”和Leech的“禮貌原理”,對教材中范例信函與其他部分的一些語句進行了一系列的修改,使信函的語言順應英語國家提倡的“plain English”的寫作原則。(同年,教材的“修訂本”面世)。
綜上所述,我們認為完全有必要也有可能將我校的進出口函電課程打造成一門校級的精品課程。
第一階段(05年下半年至06年上半年)課程建設的施行情況
本課程建設項目自05年下半年起至06年上半年止,整個建設期限為三年。根據本項目立項申報書在計劃進度及階段目標所承諾的,我們應該完成如下任務: 1.修訂《英語進出口函電課程教學大綱》 2.修訂《英語進出口函電課程教學方案》 3.編寫《英語進出口函電課程標準教案》 4.制作教材中11個單元的PPT課件
5.撰寫兩篇與本課程建設或教學研究有關的論文
目前上述任務完成了前四項。在該階段中,我們做了以下兩項工作: 1.完成標準考題五套共10份的命題(目標為30套)2.完成教學錄像8個單元共29講
以下,我們圍繞上述工作的開展情況,對本課程建設的階段性工作作一匯報。
已完成的既定任務
在這一階段中,我們重點解決的教學問題是統一教學思想。該項任務涉及到修訂教學大綱和方案,編寫教案,制作課件等工作。因而,在此一并匯報。我們的具體的做法是利用先進的電腦技術,改進傳統的教學方法和手段,深化教學內容。
如上所述,本課程歷來的教學改革基本上是教材內容的改革。教材是教學內容的載體、是教學理念的體現。確實,通過歷次的改革和改進,我們目前使用的教材因其具有“針對性強,突出對學生在商務環境中英語應用能力的訓練”和“語言規范、純正”等特點,在國內同類的教材中具有相當高的地位。但是,如何運用教材來施教卻是由教員頭腦中的教學理念所決定的。
商務英語教學界對商務英語是姓“商”還是姓“英”一直存在著激烈的爭論,至今似乎尚無定論。而這一情況反映在我們的教學隊伍中,進出口英語函電課程究竟是純粹傳授語言寫作技能還是用英語傳授進出口業務知識,人們也是智者見智、仁者見仁,各執其詞,甚至更有人認為目前人們以電子郵件進行日常業務溝通,進出口函電課程沒有什么可講授的,教學量和課時可大大縮減,以至不必作為一門獨立的課程而存在。因此,雖然運用同一本教材,由于人們對本課程的教學的詮釋不一,于是在具體施教中,就出現“八仙過海、各顯神通”,教學重點甚至具體的教學內容差異較大的現象。
作為本課程的負責人,作為一名熱愛本課程的教學工作的教師、本人將以自己通過商務實踐和教學實踐親身體驗到本課程所教學的內容在國際商務工作中的重要性,來對上述的見解作具體分析和回答,在此不作贅述。
對于由上述情況而產生的問題,本人認為完全可以通過先進的電腦技術,制作課程軟件,運用課堂的多媒體設備來解決的。(至于如何使問題得以解決,本人也將在有關論文中作詳細闡述。)因此,在本精品課程建設立項的申報書中,我們在第一年的建設階段中,把根據教材內容制作相應的課件作為一項主要任務來抓。
我們的具體做法是: 策劃:
在修改本課程的教學大綱、教學方案時將在課堂教學中運用多媒體課件的因素考慮進去。根據由此修改的大綱和方案編制教案,在教案中將課件的運用以文字的形式制定下來。
根據教材中的教學項目:單元入門、信函范例、答疑解難、術語擴展、詞語應用、句型菜單、寫作講義等設計相應的課件內容。動作:
由團隊各位教師自愿選擇單元,按要求承擔課件制作的任務。
課程負責人收集各自制作的單元,按照大綱、方案、教案的有關要求,審閱、修改、統一課件的內容。
在05-06學年第二學期開課的班級中試用課件,征求學生意見,相應改進內容。
將如此修改過的課件發給團隊成員,在本學期的教學中大面積使用,以進一步聽取意見,收集反饋信息,以作進一步的修改。
如果把上述的努力作為投入的話,那么使用課件改進我們教學手段的產出是: 教學效率提高:
課堂授課中的要點、思考題、詞語的辨析、術語的釋義、詞句的搭配、句型的變換、乃至學生作業的分析都在課前做成PPT課件,省卻了傳統課堂教學中的大量板書時間,提高了單位課時的授課效率。授課信息量增大:
授課效率提高,使教師在同樣的單位課時內,向學生講授的內容比在傳統的課堂教學條件下更加豐富、更加詳細。授課思路的清晰度提高:
由于備課時將授課內容嚴格按講課順序制作在PPT上,所以教師的講課思路相當清晰,避免了傳統教學中可能出現“開無軌電車”的現象。活躍課堂的教學氣氛:
教學效率提高也使教師與學生能在課堂教學中有更多的時間進行互動,提問和討論,學生比以前學得更加主動。教師講課更有激情:
板書為點擊鼠標所替代,教師在課堂內的勞動強度大大降低,課堂的環境更加環保,教師有更好的心緒認真講課。
因此,雖然在備課和制作課件上化了大量的時間,但是通過05-06學年第二學期的教學,總的感覺是總的“產出”大于總的“投入”。
本學期,函電課程在英語專業和國際貿易專業的學生中大面積鋪開。如上所述,課件開始進入第二輪使用的階段。目前,教學手段改革所帶來的優點已得到部分教師的肯定。可以相信,嚴格按照本課程的教學大綱和教學方案的要求,堅持在課堂中運用包含豐富、詳盡的教學內容的課件,我們會逐漸對本課程教學內容深化的看法趨向統一,在教學思路上能夠達成共識。
未完成的既定任務
在項目申報書中,本人計劃在05年下半年項目啟動時,就統一本教學隊伍的教學思路,撰寫一篇有關論文;在06年上半年,在按照新修訂的教學大綱、計劃、和教案的有關要求下,對運用新的教學手段進行授課的有關體會再撰寫一篇論文。由于本人對課程建設的艱巨性認識不足,也由于本人缺乏對教學理論的學習和研究,并且也不能否認在此期間在學校的其他工作中投入了一部分精力(例如應本二級學院領導推薦,受市教育考試院委托,承擔由我校成人教育學院主考的“高等教育自學考試商務英語專業(獨立本科段)《進出口英語函電》課程和《WTO基礎知識》課程”的設計工作,而后一課程是一門在我校本科教學計劃中尚未設置的全新課程;國際商務應用文翻譯課程建設;以及科研處的團隊培育項目[有關WTO文獻翻譯,與本課程建設項目幾乎沒有關系]等),因此該兩項目標未能按期實現。本人負全部責任。
完成的未定任務
1.完成標準考題六套共12份的命題(目標為30套)
在全校大張旗鼓開展的“迎評”工作的推動下,我們提前啟動了按計劃于第三階段(07年下半年至08年上半年)進行的試題編制工作。
命題30套共60份試卷的計劃基本上是按照五年試題不重復的要求制定的。平均每學年6套12份,每學期3套6份:英語專業本科或學期總課時為72課時的教學對象2套4份;英語大專或學期總課時為36課時的教學對象1套2份(根據每個學期具體開設的課程的班級 5 的課時及有關情況,套數和份數作相應調整)。
試卷在現今階段基本上是對課程教學情況進行考核的工具,命題是否達到標準有關教學考核的尺度是否標準,因此乃是整個教學工作中相當重要的一項工作。
對標準試卷的要求我們參照上海教育考試院的命題有關規定,其中包括:
試卷的覆蓋面。試卷要覆蓋到教材的每一單元和重點節。一般要覆蓋到知識點的80%。試卷的題量。每份試卷以小題計,應為50道左右。試題的難度。按易、中等偏易、中等偏難、難分為四個檔次,相應分數比例基本為20:30:30:20。選擇題比例。每份試卷中選擇題所占的分數比例在30%—40%左右;非選擇題為60%—70%左右。
題型。不少于4種,不多于8種。重復率:同一套兩份試卷題目不重復,不同學期同一類考試對象的試卷的題目重復率不超過15%,且同類題型中不得超過3%。
2.完成教學錄像8個單元共29講
在校教務處及技術部門的關心和支持下,我們已完成部分單元的授課錄像。由于05-06學年第二學期英語專業中只開設大專學生的函電課,按教學計劃,他們周課時為2節,授課至教材的第八單元止,因此未能進行全教材的教學錄像。
由于該輪授課是主講教師首次運用多媒體課件,且其人視覺形象也不盡如人意,加之大專學生客觀上英語水準一般,所以錄像工作未達到預期效果。希望以后能從中青年骨干教師中遴選合適人員主講,再配以學習氣氛良好的英語本科班級聽講,制作出更精美的教學錄像登錄網上。
教師隊伍建設
由于所授課程的性質的要求,本課程教學團隊人員的平均年齡為45歲,可能冠本校的教學隊伍之首。其中絕大多數人員的教齡在15年以上,相當一部分有在涉外商務機構或企業從事外貿工作的經驗。
本教學團隊更須本著終生學習的精神,不斷學習專業理論,學習新的教學手段。在當前的課程建設中,大家邊學習邊工作,完成了課件的制作任務。不少教師已在課堂教學中使用新課件,逐步適應新的教學方法,形成新的教學理念。
二級學院領導非常關心本教學團隊的建設,在今年暑假赴美教學組團中,也有本團隊的教師參加。在本院推行的導師帶教制下,學院領導從新進青年教師中遴選出業務素質高,有敬業精神的優秀教師充實我們的隊伍。通過積極參與課程建設、互相聽課、虛心學習,現在該教師已挑起重擔,獨當一面在給英語專業的學生上課,取得了較好的評價。
項目管理
本建設項目嚴格按照我校頒布的《學科、專業和課程建設管理辦法》實行目標管理,由項目負責人將整體項目進行分解,具體落實到每個成員,并督促承擔任務的教師的進度及檢查完 6 成質量。
希望有關領導能將教師的年度考核與其參加項目及完成任務的質量情況掛鉤,以督促有建設項目的教研室、教研組的成員主動、積極地投入項目建設。
