CRV—“城市多功能休閑車”，這應該是目前對CRV的準確定義。說到復雜路面的行駛，就必須要明白CRV的四輪驅動。CRV的四輪驅動全稱是雙泵式實（適）時四輪驅動系統(tǒng)（英文：Dual Pump System REAL TIME 4WD）,1995年由本田獨創(chuàng)的黏性耦合實（適）時四輪驅動（Viscous Coupling RealTime 4WD）發(fā)展而來。準確說來CRV的四輪驅動不是傳統(tǒng)意義上硬派越野車的四輪驅動系統(tǒng)，他是一輛在復雜路面比一般轎車具有更高通過性和安全性的轎車，是一輛ON ROAD車，而決不是一輛OFF ROAD越野車。所以在CRV的身上甚至沒有4WD這個標志。就連CRV的懸掛系統(tǒng)和前輪驅動模式也決定CRV不是一輛越野車。

CUV——CUV是英文Car-Based Utility Vehicle的縮寫，是以轎車底盤為設計平臺，融轎車、MPV和SUV特性為一體的多用途車，也被稱為Crossover。CUV最初于20世紀末起源日本，之后在北美、西歐等地區(qū)流行，開始成為崇尚既有轎車駕駛感受和操控性，又有多用途運動車的功能，喜歡SUV的粗獷外觀，同時也注重燃油經濟性與兼顧良好的通過性的這類汽車用戶的最佳選擇。
