My Impression of “Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde”

There is a devil lives in our hearts.Sometimes our happiness stems from others' misfortune.This makes us feel shamed.Every now and then I wonder whether there is a method that can remove the devil from our hearts.In this way, the evil part of me won't feel shamed, meanwhile, the good part of me won't get happiness from others' misfortune.After reading this novella entitled “Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde”, I think it's better to shut down this bad idea.This novella is written by the famous Scottish author, Robert Louis Stevenson.It is about a London lawyer named John Gabriel Utterson who investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr.Henry Jekyll and the evil Edward Hyde.Dr.Henry Jekyll was a scientist who was always considered as a serious, hard-working doctor.Behind this character, however, he was an active, fun-loving young man-about-town.He had spent most of his life trying to remove the devil from his heart which was not fitting for a man of his stature.After much thought, he finally decided to create a drug that could give each side of his character it's own separate face and body.Then, he bravely drank the drug and successfully transformed himself into the smaller, younger, cruel, remorseless, evil Edward Hyde.Dr.Jekyll enjoyed his secret very much--but not for ever after.As time went by, Mr.Hyde grew in power.After taking the drug repetitively, Dr.Jekyll no longer needed to use the drug to relief his devil.Eventually, Mr.Hyde grew so strong that Dr.Jekyll had to rely on the drug to remain himself.He first injured a child in street, then beat Sir Danvers to death for no reason.Realizing he would soon become Hyde forever, Dr.Jekyll left behind a confession and commit suicide.Generally speaking, every man has two sides to his character.Just like Dr.Jekyll was a serious, hard-working doctor which concealed a irresponsible man who pleasured around underneath.Dr.Jekyll had noticed it quiet well, but he should have known that a normal people could not be two people live uncomfortably together in the same body.It sounds more like “dual personalities”.Feeling complacent about his creation, Dr.Jekyll didn't notice that he was trapped.Before the experiment, Dr.Jekyll was just a double-dealer.And after it, he became a person with dual personalities.Each personality wanted to control the body.Unfortunately, good didn't prevail over evil.Dr.Jekyll grew weak while Mr.Hyde grew powerful.Actually, the two sides of a person have well defined power and responsibility, mutual coordination and restraint.They know the appropriate time and situation to behave themselves.You can be serious at work with a character likes Dr.Jekyll and have your private life as crazy as you want.This is nothing to be ashamed of, but Dr.Jekyll didn't realize it at that time.During the one-month internship, I have noticed that there are a great numbers of teachers wear a double face.They treat students strictly, meanwhile, they are quite friendly with their collogues and parents of students.This makes their life much easier.Everyone plays different roles in different situations.We needn't to shame about it.The double-dealers can always gain advantage from both sides and live well.When Dr.Jekyll took the drug and devided into two person, this tragedy is waiting to happen.The two person are quite simply.Dr.Jekyll shared no effort to do good and Mr.Hyde committed all manner of evil.Through the death of Dr.Jekyll/Mr.Hyde, the author tried to expound his point: If you can't rein in your devil, you would be punished at last.In the unknown corner of people's deepest heart, good coexists with evil.In the story of deers and wolves, people simply thought that deers could live better without wolves.As a matter of fact, deers could not live without wolves.They maintained an appropriate balance in the forest.But for the chasing of wolves, deers couldn't be strong and healthy.Similarly, when separated, the good side of Dr.Jekyll became weaker and weaker.Instead, the evil side of him became stronger and stronger without the restraint of the good side.But the evil side, Mr.Hyde couldn't live without Dr.Jekyll, because they shared a body.So when Dr.Jekyll committed suicide, Mr.Hyde dead,too.It is too late for Dr.Jekyll to realize that having two characters is nothing to be ashamed of.But I learned a lot from this novella.There is a “Jekyll” and a “Hyde” in everybody.I will face up to my desires and try to strengthen heart for good to defeat the devil.Nothing is difficult in the world for one who sets his mind to do it.

This novel mainly describe a famous and intelligent physician who turns into a evil man after taking a drug , intended to separate evil from good in a personality.Dr.Jekyll is the main character of this novel.he is known as an acknowledgeable and respectable man in London.Lots of people thought that Dr.Jekyll is nearly a perfect man for what he dose good deeds and cures the pain of his patient.He owned the good fame for what good deeds he has done.But in his inner heart he always feels tired of what role he has acted as.He wants to change himself ,so he does something evil to set free himself.he dreams to do evil things to make himself feel comfortable.To be another man is the crazy dream for Jekyll.so he mixes some drugs and powder together to make new drugs.After taking this new medicine he becomes an ugly, small and deformed man named Mr.Hyde.Being an evil man, he can does some evil things, where as Hyde was still young and energetic.so he begins his life of evil.During this time, Hyde was looked on as a blackmailer even a murder.he could not get rid of the police who are searing for him

everywhere.So he was forced to be Jekyll again.For he takes much medicine, he always changes himself between Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde.Finally ,his strong desire to do evil things controls himself mostly.he can change himself to be Hyde naturally and unconsciously, which makes him suffered too much.some times he nearly becomes evil Hyde when he talked with friend Utterson and his mails there was a time when two-ness of men.he wished deeply to separate these two men of good and evil inside him.Utterson is a good friend of Mr.Jekyll, he is curious about what he heard from Richard.So he spends lots of time in collect information about Jekyll and Hyde.this is a long time for him.After both Jekyll and Lanyon died, Utterson read the two letters written by Jekyll and Lanyon.Finally Utterson knows well about the complex things of his two friends.he knows the evil things Jekyll have done and the true feelings of Jekyll.He knows the surprising thing that Lanyon have saw.The secret and complicated things become bright for Utterson.however;he could do nothing but keep up the good fame for his good friend.After reading this novel, I feel very shock about what Jekyll have done and though.He has good fame and good social position

First, we should correct the idea that we can kill off the evil side.Instead, we should acknowledge it, and then make the good side power by developing good habits step by step.We are educated citizens living in this beautiful planet.We are the hope in the future.We know what is right and what is wrong, and we have the obligations to regulate our behavior in accordance with the code of ethics.When we are doing things, we should consider whether it is morally right.Make this consideration a habit.Second, pay more attention to self-cultivation and adjusting attitude at any time in any place.In the course of human events, we have experienced the dark days of hard-working, when people work the whole day and the whole night like a crow without a short time of rest.Such a horrible life has gone forever.Third, release bad emotions as soon as possible.Unhealthy emotions can not be avoided, but we can release it through some healthy ways, such as running, playing sports, talking with others and so on.The more depression we hide, the more split personalities we tend to have.It is just the stimulation of the depression that causes many people totally become evil.Last but not least, don’t emphasize too much on the gain and loss of personal interests.In this colorful world, there exist various kinds of personal interests, especially pecuniary interest.I really learn a lot from the book “Dr Jekyll and Mr.Hyde”.It is a warning for us to review our behavior.The future is bright, but road is tortuous.In order to grow healthily, we’d better drop the bad behavior and bad attitude.Every thing can be settled, only if we have the determination.

《化身博士》是十九世紀(jì)英國(guó)著名小說(shuō)家羅伯特·路易斯·史蒂文森筆下的一部經(jīng)典恐怖小說(shuō)。寫于1886年，英文名為《The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde》，直譯為“杰基爾博士和海德先生的奇異故事”。杰基爾博士和海德先生就是這部小說(shuō)的主人公，這是一個(gè)關(guān)于人格分裂的可怕故事。

《化身博士》是一部中篇小說(shuō)，篇幅不長(zhǎng)兩天就可以讀完，但是其情節(jié)非常緊湊并曲折離奇。雖然主要采用第三人稱的寫法，但是卻很像第一人稱，讀者會(huì)很自然地把自已置于厄特森的位置。作者采用這樣寫法可能是為了強(qiáng)調(diào)厄特森并不是小說(shuō)的主人公，而是整個(gè)懸疑事件的揭露者，還使整個(gè)故事充滿傳奇色彩。

小說(shuō)的主題是雙重人格，人性中的善與惡。人格的詞義是指人所具有的與他人相區(qū)別的獨(dú)特而穩(wěn)定的思維方式和行為風(fēng)格，杰基爾與海德就具有兩種完全不同的思維方式和行為風(fēng)格，一個(gè)代表善，一個(gè)代表惡。一般人格分裂這種病的原因是受到驚嚇和巨大的心理打擊，可是在杰基爾身上卻不是這樣，他是完全自愿的，雙重人格對(duì)他來(lái)說(shuō)不是病，而是他的理想。這種不好的理想才是病。小說(shuō)的主題集中體現(xiàn)在博士的懺悔錄里，他年輕時(shí)發(fā)現(xiàn)了人性的兩面性：“外面的人把我看成一本正經(jīng)、勤奮工作的博士，但在這安靜的性格下，卻是活潑、愛(ài)玩的交際場(chǎng)里的老手。”并且對(duì)此不感到羞愧，“那該有多奇妙，”我想，“如果我能分離開(kāi)兩種性格，給愛(ài)玩的這一邊以充分的自由。這樣，他就可以自己出去，玩?zhèn)€痛快，而把嚴(yán)肅認(rèn)真、勤奮上進(jìn)的杰基爾博士留下來(lái)，繼續(xù)做對(duì)他至關(guān)重要、拯救生靈的工作。”這種看似美好的想法，卻是罪惡的根源，他不知道怎樣才能“玩?zhèn)€痛快”而不變成惡魔。后來(lái)他花費(fèi)多年的時(shí)間研究變身藥，想實(shí)現(xiàn)這種“美夢(mèng)”，蘭寧應(yīng)該這個(gè)時(shí)候與他在科學(xué)上有分歧。后來(lái)他成功了，他變成了海德，他欣喜若狂，他也懂得要及時(shí)變回醫(yī)生去“拯救生靈”。可是到最后惡的一面逐漸占上風(fēng)，即使不吃藥也會(huì)變成海德，而很難變回去，于是他由可控的“人格分裂”變成了不可控的。完全成了兩個(gè)人，彼此不知道對(duì)方干了什么事，比多重人格癥更可怕，因?yàn)樽兊臅r(shí)候連外貌也變了。于是海德更加為非作歹，杰基爾的良心更加痛苦。而且“我想普爾已經(jīng)告訴你我找藥找遍了倫敦，但卻毫無(wú)結(jié)果，我這才明白第一批貨是不純的，正是我和藥劑師都還不認(rèn)識(shí)的那種雜質(zhì)使我的藥成功了。這么說(shuō)來(lái)，我配的藥便是偶然的發(fā)現(xiàn)，不可能重復(fù)的。”于是博士絕望了，選擇了自殺。圍繞著主題談一下愛(ài)與正義。小說(shuō)沒(méi)有講愛(ài)情的內(nèi)容，但是也體現(xiàn)出了愛(ài)的內(nèi)涵。杰基爾不懂什么是愛(ài)，什么是正義。他認(rèn)為幫助別人是對(duì)別人的愛(ài)和正義，而對(duì)自己不是，對(duì)自己是痛苦。要想愛(ài)自己，撫慰自己，必須讓他人付出，讓他人感到痛苦。這種惡念在年輕時(shí)就出現(xiàn)在博士的腦海里，他受夠了幫助他人時(shí)的付出，他想要“實(shí)質(zhì)”的回報(bào)，他對(duì)人心的善惡虛偽感到可恥，他克服不了欲望對(duì)善良的進(jìn)攻。這就是他根本上想變身的原因，他想要更“純粹”的自我。

懺悔方面，杰基爾博士最后寫了長(zhǎng)篇的懺悔書，對(duì)自己犯下的錯(cuò)誤做了深深的懺悔。懺悔意味著對(duì)責(zé)任的擔(dān)當(dāng)，改過(guò)，對(duì)未來(lái)的希望。可是博士再也沒(méi)有機(jī)會(huì)了，他沒(méi)有藥了，“繼續(xù)懺悔也沒(méi)有用了。最終，災(zāi)難還是到了，終于給我的懲罰畫上了句號(hào)。”懺悔是為了祈求寬恕，讀者讀到最后應(yīng)該會(huì)寬恕他，可是真正的寬恕必須來(lái)自受害者，受害者會(huì)寬恕他嗎？假如博士還有藥，變回來(lái)后，他能經(jīng)受住欲望不變回去嗎？博士經(jīng)常徘徊于善惡之間，但最后總是海德勝利，這還是很讓人擔(dān)心的。所以說(shuō)，他真的懺悔了嗎？他因?yàn)樽儾换厝ザ鴳曰冢怯兴幍脑捤€會(huì)寫嗎？而且杰基爾還對(duì)海德有憐憫之心，“只是海德自己怕死，所以才沒(méi)有殺了我。他對(duì)生命渴望極了，他明白要是殺了我，他自己也就死了。我心里不禁對(duì)他多少有點(diǎn)憐憫。”對(duì)犯罪寬恕，那么自己就不會(huì)得到別人的寬恕。而且他將罪責(zé)推向了海德，不能正視自己的錯(cuò)誤，完全把海德當(dāng)做另一個(gè)人，沒(méi)有在上段分析的根本原因上懺悔自己的錯(cuò)誤，他懺悔沒(méi)有新的視角和價(jià)值立場(chǎng)。他在對(duì)海德犯的錯(cuò)而懺悔，雖然令人感動(dòng)，卻不是在為真正的完整的自己懺悔。這樣看來(lái)，他就不值得寬恕了嗎？這也是不對(duì)的。人們說(shuō)可憐之人必有可恨之處，其實(shí)不如說(shuō)可恨之人必有可憐之處，況且寬恕也不是以對(duì)方的懺悔為前提。寬恕也會(huì)成為懺悔的原因。所以人們不能明確指出杰基爾博士是否懺悔，他能否真正懺悔還得看別人對(duì)他的看法和作為。在小說(shuō)中博士的朋友也是很少的，所以他一直固執(zhí)己見(jiàn)。

每個(gè)人的人心都有善惡兩面，杰基爾博士的想法是正確的。可是他想要分開(kāi)善惡，給善與惡分別賦予一個(gè)身體，這是錯(cuò)誤的。他想要純粹地活著，要么很善，要么很惡，要么交替著善與惡，絕不能同時(shí)存在。為了讓別人看得起自己，只是善良是很累的，要是表現(xiàn)出一點(diǎn)“惡”的舉動(dòng)，別人就會(huì)看不起自己，這種矛盾只可以創(chuàng)造一個(gè)海德先生來(lái)解決。他不知道人心就是善惡的結(jié)合體，不然就不是人心，他不知道善良的心會(huì)被邪惡的心所折磨，邪惡的心會(huì)受到善良的心制約，人不可能“純粹”地活著，就像上帝和惡魔從來(lái)不會(huì)出現(xiàn)一樣。

杰基爾靠轉(zhuǎn)移惡來(lái)?yè)Q得別人的尊敬是不可行的，他那么在意別人的看法，卻不知道別人其實(shí)也有惡，也許比他還惡，活的更累。有一點(diǎn)惡并不全部是惡，看待事物不能太絕對(duì)，犯一點(diǎn)錯(cuò)誤別人是可以理解的。

對(duì)立即互補(bǔ)。不能絕對(duì)地看待事物，善惡都有存在的價(jià)值。如果全世界只有善良，那是非常可怕的，現(xiàn)在世界就是一個(gè)逐漸由惡轉(zhuǎn)向善的進(jìn)化的過(guò)程，而進(jìn)化的終點(diǎn)就是滅亡，世界末日就是世界再也不能消除邪惡，不能提升的那一天，幸福全都在這漫漫的過(guò)程之中。而人也是這樣，我們不求成為圣人，要是能成為圣人必須要以世界上出現(xiàn)一個(gè)魔鬼為代價(jià)那我們更不愿意。我們只有以圣人為榜樣，慢慢地一點(diǎn)一點(diǎn)地做善事，堅(jiān)守自己不做壞事的信念，克服不當(dāng)?shù)挠斫鈩e人的難處和錯(cuò)誤，懂得幫助別人就是愛(ài)自己。那樣我們才能活得輕松，活得很幸福。

Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde This novel was written by Robert Louis Stevenson.He was born on November thirteenth, 1850 and died on December third 1894.He was a famous Scottish novelist, poet, essayist and travel writer and he has great influence on English literature.This novel mainly describe a famous and intelligent physician who turns into a evil man after taking a drug , intended to separate evil from good in a personality.Dr.Jekyll is the main character of this novel.he is known as an acknowledgeable and respectable man in London.Lots of people thought that Dr.Jekyll is nearly a perfect man for what he dose good deeds and cures the pain of his patient.He owned the good fame for what good deeds he has done.But in his inner heart he always feels tired of what role he has acted as.He wants to change himself ,so he does something evil to set free himself.he dreams to do evil things to make himself feel comfortable.To be another man is the crazy dream for Jekyll.so he mixes some drugs and powder together to make new drugs.After taking this new medicine he becomes an ugly, small and deformed man named Mr.Hyde.Being an evil man, he can does some evil things, where as Hyde was still young and energetic.so he begins his life of evil.During this time, Hyde was looked on as a blackmailer even a murder.he could not get rid of the police who are searing for him everywhere.So he was forced to be Jekyll again.For he takes much medicine, he always changes himself between Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde.Finally ,his strong desire to do evil things controls himself mostly.he can change himself to be Hyde naturally and unconsciously, which makes him suffered too much.some times he nearly becomes evil Hyde when he talked with friend Utterson and his mails there was a time when two-ness of men.he wished deeply to separate these two men of good and evil inside him.Utterson is a good friend of Mr.Jekyll, he is curious about what he heard from Richard.So he spends lots of time in collect information about Jekyll and Hyde.this is a long time for him.After both Jekyll and Lanyon died, Utterson read the two letters written by Jekyll and Lanyon.Finally Utterson knows well about the complex things of his two friends.he knows the evil things Jekyll have done and the true feelings of Jekyll.He knows the surprising thing that Lanyon have saw.The secret and complicated things become bright for Utterson.however;he could do nothing but keep up the good fame for his good friend.After reading this novel, I feel very shock about what Jekyll have done and though.He has good fame and good social position so he should cherish what he have owned but do some evil things.In our lives ,we should remember who we are and what we can do or not.In this way, we can always be ourselves and live a happy life.We can keep our good fame forever.
