習語是人們在語言發展過程中，經過長期的社會實踐提煉出來的短語或者短句，是語言的精華。從廣義上講，漢語習語包括成語、諺語、俗語、歇后語等。具體特點表現在：

1、習語本身是修辭手段的集中體現，如諧音等來增加美感，如“嘴上沒毛，辦事不牢”，“吃得苦，耐得煩；不怕死，霸得蠻”；英語中的“by hook or by crook”, as red as a rose。

2、習語是語言中獨立、不規則而固定的因素。如“露出馬腳”不能說成“露出豬腳”，“雪中送炭”不能說成“雪中送煤”。基于上述特點，翻譯過程中必須注意：

1、盡量保存原文的民族特色和風格，在可能的情況下以直譯為主。

近讀報紙，對國內名片盒請柬的議論頗多，遇事想起客居巴黎時常常見到法國人手中的名片和請柬，隨筆記下來，似乎不無借鑒之處。

在巴黎，名目繁多的酒會、冷餐會是廣交朋友的好機會。在這種場合陌生人相識，如果是亞洲人，他們往往開口之前先畢恭畢敬地用雙手把自己的名片呈遞給對方，這好像是不可缺少的禮節。然而，法國人一般都不大主動東送名片，雙方見面寒暄幾句，甚至海闊天空地聊一番，也就各自走開了。只有當雙方談話投機，希望繼續交往時，才會主動掏出名片。二話不說先遞名片反倒有些勉強。

法國人的名片講究樸素大方，印制精美。但很少有鑲金邊的，閃光多色的或帶香味的，名片上的字體纖細秀麗，本人的名字也不過分突出，整張紙片上空白很大，毫無擁擠不堪的感覺。

在人際關系問題上我們不要太浪漫主義。人是很有趣的，往往在接觸一個人時首先看到的都是他或她的優點。這一點頗像是在餐館里用餐的經驗。開始吃頭盤或冷蝶的時候，印象很好。吃頭兩個主菜時，也是贊不絕口。愈吃愈趨于冷靜，吃完了這頓宴席，缺點就都找出來了。于是轉喜為怒，轉贊美為責備挑剔，轉首肯為搖頭。這是因為，開始吃的時候你正處于饑餓狀態，而餓了吃糠甜如蜜，飽了吃蜜也不甜。第二，你初到一個餐館，開始舉筷時有新鮮感，新蓋的茅房三天香，這也可以叫陌生化效應吧。

2005年 一個人的生命究竟有多大意義，這有什么標準可以衡量嗎？提出一個絕對的標準當然很困難；但是，大體上看一個人對待生命的態度是否嚴肅認真，看他對待工作、生活的態度如何，也就不難對這個人的存在意義做出適當的估計了。

古來一切有成就的人，都很嚴肅地對待自己的生命。當他活著一天，總要盡量多工作、多學習，不肯虛度年華，不讓時間白白地浪費掉。我國歷代的勞動人民以及大政治家、大思想家等等都莫不如此。

2006年

中華民族自古以來從不把人看做高于一切，在哲學文藝方面的表現都反映出人在自然界中與萬物占著一個比例較為恰當的地位，而非絕對統治萬物的主宰。因此，我們的苦悶，基本上比西方人為少為小；因為苦悶的強弱原是隨欲望與野心的大小而轉移的。農業社會的人比工業社會的人享受差得多，因此欲望也小得多。況中國古代素來以不滯于物，不為物役為主要的人生哲學。并非我們沒有守財奴，但比起莫里哀與巴爾扎克筆下的守財奴與野心家來，就小巫見大巫了。中國名族多數是性情中正和平、淡泊、樸實，比西方人容易滿足。

2007年

暮色中，河灣里落滿云霞，與天際的顏色混合在一起，分不清哪是流云哪是水灣。也就在這一幅絢爛的圖畫旁邊，在河灣之畔，一群羊正在低頭覓食。他們幾乎沒有一個顧得上抬起頭來，看一眼這美麗的黃昏。也許它們要抓緊時間，在即將回家的最后一刻再次咀嚼。這是黃河灘上的一幕。牧羊人不見了，他不知在何處歇息。只有這些生靈自由自在地享受著這個黃昏。這兒水草肥美，讓它們長得肥滾滾的。如果走近了，你會發現它們潔白的牙齒，以及那豐富而單純的表情。

2008年

都市寸土千金，地價炒的越來越高，今后將更高。擁有一個小小花園的希望，對尋常之輩不啻是一種奢望，一種夢想。

我想，其實誰都有一個小小花園，這便是我們的內心世界。人的智力需要開發，人的內心世界也是需要開發的。人和動物的區別，除了眾所周知的諸多方面，恐怕還在于人有內心世界。心不過是人的一個重要的臟器，而內心世界是一種景觀，它是由外部世界不斷地作用于內心漸漸形成的。每個人都無比關注自己及至親至愛之人心臟的健損，以至于稍有微疾便惶惶不可終日。但并非每個人都關注自己及至親至愛之人的內心世界的陰晴。

2009年

我想不起來哪一個熟人沒有手機。今天沒有手機的人是奇怪的，這種人才需要解釋。我們的所有社會關系都儲存在手機的電話本里，可以隨時調出使用。古代只有巫師才有這種法寶。

手機刷新了人與人的關系。會議室門口通常貼著一條通告：請與會者關閉手機。可是會議室里的手機鈴聲依然響成一片。我們都是普通人，并沒有多少重要的事情。盡管如此，我們也不會輕易關掉手機。打開手機象征我們與這個世界的聯系。手機反映出我們的“社交饑渴癥”。最為常見的是，一個人走著走著突然停下來，眼睛盯著手機屏幕發短信。他不在乎停在馬路中央還是廁所旁邊。

為什么對手機來電和短信這么在乎？因為我們迫切渴望與社會保持聯系。2010年

朋友關系的存續是以相互尊重為前提的，容不得半點強求、干涉和控制。朋友之間，情趣相投、脾氣對則合；反之，則離、則絕。朋友之間再熟悉、再親密，也不能隨便過頭、不恭不敬。不然，默契和平衡將被打破，友好關系將不復存在。每個人都希望擁有自己的私密空間，朋友之間過于隨便，就容易侵入這片禁區，從而引起沖突，造成隔閡。待友不敬，或許只是一件小事，卻可能已埋下了破壞性的種子。維持朋友親密關系的最好辦法是往來有節，互不干涉。

2011年

現代社會無論價值觀的持有還是生活方式的選擇都充滿了矛盾。而最讓現代人感到尷尬的是，面對重重矛盾，許多時候你卻別無選擇。匆忙與休閑室截然不同的兩種生活方式。但在現實生活中，人們卻在這兩種生活方式間頻繁穿梭，有時也說不清自己到底是“休閑著”還是“匆忙著”。譬如說，當我們正在旅游勝地享受假期，卻忽然接到老板的電話，告訴我們客戶或工作方面除了麻煩——現代便捷先進工具在此刻顯示出了它猙獰、陰郁的面容——搞得人一下子興趣全無，接下來的休閑職能徒有其表，因為心里已是火燒火燎了。

2012年

泊珍到偏遠的小鎮的育幼院把省在那里養到易碎的孩子接回來。但泊珍看他第一眼，仿似一聲雷劈頭而來。令她暈頭漲腦，這一歲的孩子臉型長得如此熟悉，她心里的第一道聲音是，不能帶回去！

痛苦糾聚心中，眉心發燙發熱，胸口郁悶難展，胃里一股氣沖喉而上。院長說，這孩子發育遲緩時，她更是心頭無緒。她在孩子所待的房里來回踱步，這房里還有其他小孩。整個房間里只有一扇窗，窗外樹影婆娑。就讓孩子留下來吧，這里有善心的神父和修女，這里將來會擴充為有醫療作用的看護中心，這是留住孩子最好的地方。這孩子是她的秘密，她將秘密留在這數目掩映的建筑里。
