美國駐香港總領館的中文微博網站，經常會有一些中英文翻譯技巧的討論，十分受網友歡迎，互動很熱烈。對我們這些生活在美國的人來說，也有不少啟發。以我自己為例，每天與人打交道，說的最多、聽到的最多的就是“謝謝”以及“不謝”、“不必客氣”等日常用語。英語說“謝謝”很簡單，相信即使不懂英語的人也知道，就是“Thank you”，如果說得再客氣一點，就是“Thank you very much”（非常感謝）。在美國，也有許多人不說“Thank you”，而說“Thanks”，客氣一點的說“Many thanks”或“Thanks a lot”，即非常感謝。記得我們過去學英語，教科書上是不教“Thanks”、“Many thanks”這些比較口語化的詞匯的，因此我剛到美國的時候，聽到人們說“Thanks”，總覺得不習慣，直到今天，心里還覺得“Thanks”不及“Thank you”正規。

名詞所有格的形式和用法
（1）名詞所有格一般是詞尾加′s構成，如：the boy’s bag；our teacher’s room等。如果原詞已經有復數詞尾-s，則僅僅加一個（′）即可，如boys′ school等。詞尾無s的復數名詞則仍要加′s，如：men’s clothes等。
（2）表示無生命東西的名詞的所有格不可用詞尾加（′s）或（′），而是用of 屬格，如：the windowof the room等。但在表示時間、距離以及其他習慣用語中，則需用（′s）或（′）表示所有格，如：ten minutes′ walk等。
