一、重點單詞
1.make的意思是“做、制造、制作”時,常用的句型是:(1)make sth.(to do sth.)意為“制造某物”。例如:She can make kites.她會制作風箏。(2)make sb.sth./ make sth.for sb.意為“為某人制作某物”。例如:
His mother made him a beautiful coat./ His mother made a beautiful coat for him.【辨析】be made of/ be made from/ be made in/ be made into(1)be made of表示“由?制成”, 一般指能夠看出原材料,或發生的是物理變化。例如: This table cloth is made of paper.這張桌布是由紙做的。
This salad is made of apples and strawberries.這種沙拉是由蘋果和草莓做的。
(2)be made from也表示“由?制成”,但一般指看不出原材料,或發生的是化學變化。例如: Bread is made from corn.面包是小麥做的。

(2)see強調“看”的結果,著重的是look這個動作的結果,意思是“看到”,see是及物動詞,后面能直接跟賓語。如:

【辨析】else / other(1)else可作形容詞或副詞,作形容詞時,常放在疑問代詞、不定代詞之后作后置定語;作副詞時也要后置。如: What else did you do?你還做了些什么? She has nothing else to say.她沒有別的什么可說了。
(2)other作形容詞時,用于修飾名詞或某些代詞,但必須前置。如: Where are the other comrades?其他的同志在哪里? I want some other books.我還要另外一些書。(3)else后可帶-‘s, other不能。
Who else’s bike can this be?這還可能是其他什么人的自行車呢? nobody沒有人 【辨析】somebody/ anybody/nobody 一般說來,somebody用于定句,anybody用于否定句、疑問句和條件狀語從句。例如 Somebody came to see you when you were out.你出來時有人來見你。Does anybody live on this island? 有人在這島上住嗎? I didn't see anybody there.我在那兒誰也沒看見。

3.alone 是一個表語形容詞,意為“單獨的;獨自的”;它還常用于名詞、代詞之后,表示“只有;唯有”。Do you feel alone when your parents are out? 父母不在家時,你感覺到孤獨嗎? 用作副詞時,意為“單獨地;獨自地(=all by oneself)”。例如: He likes living alone.他喜歡獨自地生活 【辨析】
alone既可以用作形容詞,也可以用作副詞,意為“單獨的(地);獨自的(地)”。用作形容詞時,習慣上只能用作表語,強調沒有其他人在場。

hope和wish 在漢語中都有“希望”的意思,但其含義和用法有所不同。主要區別如下:(1)wish可以用來表示不可實現的愿望;hope只能用來表示可能實現的愿望。例如: I wish I were 20 years younger.我但愿自己能年輕二十歲。I hope you’ll be better soon.我希望你能很快好起來。I wish the weather wasn’t so cold.但愿天氣不這麼冷。I hope he will come, too.我希望他也能來。

【辨析】beat / win(1)beat vt.后接的賓語一般為人或相當于人的名詞,“打敗??” “贏了??”;也經常用于被動語態。如:

7.spend的主語必須是人,常用于以下結構:

(2)spend time /money(in)doing sth.花費時間(金錢)做某事。例:They spent two years(in)building this bridge.造這座橋花了他們兩年時間。

when和while 都表示主從句的動作或狀態同時發生,但二者意義不盡相同。1.when引導的從句可表示時間點,也可表示時間段,從句的位于動詞既可以是延續性動詞,也可以是非
延續性動詞;while引導的從句通常表示時間段,從句中宜用延續性動詞作謂語。They arrived while we were watching TV.2.含有when引導的時間狀語的主從復合句,如果主句用過去進行時,從句應該用一般過去式,表示一個
動作正在進行的時候另一個動作發生,強調后一動作發生的突然性。We were watching TV when suddenly the lights went off.3.當主從句的動作都是延續的或同時發生,主從句都用過去進行時的時候,從句多用while引導。
They were reading while we were writing.4.如果表示從句的動作在主句的動作“之前”或“之后”發生時,多用when,不用while。
此外,when還含有“at the moment “的意思,此時引導的句子不能放在句首,也不能用while來替換 用所給詞的適當形式填空:
