后海是13世紀元大都規劃設計的基本項目之一，什剎海周邊從元代起就是大都城繁華商業區，它在當時是漕運的終點，被稱為“北京古海港”，那時沿岸處處是酒樓歌臺、商肆作坊。后海是一片有水而能觀山，垂柳拂岸的閑散之地，岸上的民居與居民，周邊的王府和名人故居更為它鋪陳著京味和歷史的無窮韻味。人們來這里只為了在這里依然能夠聽到秋日里清脆的蟲鳴，依然能看見老北京四合院建筑群的縮影，依然能咀嚼那早已遠去的皇家遺韻。后海是老北京久負盛名的消暑、游玩場所。藏匿在胡同中的小吃，隨處散發著爆肚、鹵煮、灌腸的味道，流竄著誘人的豆汁酸。

今天是3月10日星期六，一個天氣晴朗的下午。得知郭柯新要到后海游胡同，我也順便跟著郭柯新一家去游玩。

到了后海，我們先參觀了宋慶齡故居。隨后，我們坐上了三輪車，這種三輪車是由黃包車演變而來的，向我們本次夢幻之旅的目的地——四合院行進了。

啊，終于到了!七級臺階，四個菱形門簪，依稀可見昔日的輝煌;微窄卻古老的百年大門，給人一種威嚴、莊重的氣派。我們慢慢登上七級臺階，小心翼翼地跨過門坎，按捺不住興奮的心情，想探個門內的究竟。

門內的情景并沒有我想象的那樣森嚴。只見一個老北京四合院傳統的“影壁”展現在我們的眼前：一堵雪白的墻壁，外面有木制的圍框，兩旁掛著一串串小葫蘆，兩個紅彤彤的中國結一下子就讓墻壁鮮亮了起來。墻壁上帖著一個大大的“福”字，好象要把福請進家里。“福”字前擺著一口大缸，里面種著象征“闔家團圓”的荷花;而大缸前則種著花花草草，給原本就美麗的“影壁”平添了一種獨特的姿色。

繞過影壁，走過游廊，我們看見了老北京四合院的內院了。它沒有華麗的外表，也沒有被刻意裝飾過，它由東、西、南、北屋圍成。首先映入眼簾的是一間正屋。這時我注意到，正房的房頂比別的房頂高，后來我才得知因為這是老輩人的住房。想著想著，我們不知怎么就見到了同學劉琛，這可真是巧?！皠㈣?.....”郭柯新首先就來了個“熱烈擁抱”?？晌覅s一直在納悶兒：明明是劉琛先迎接我們的，她是怎么知道我們會來呢?帶著滿腹的疑惑，我進了正房。

進了正房，迎面是一臺八仙桌、太師椅，一切都那么傳統。整個人好象都安靜了下來。這家的主人王老師給我們講解四合院。聽她介紹，我的謎題也將一一解開。原來，這間房是輩份最高的“太爺”住的，為了顯示輩份高低，所以屋頂高。而劉琛為什么能看到我們則是因為這間屋子地面就高。古時，為了不讓別人看到院里的隱私，所以才修高。這樣，屋內的人能看見院內，但院內的人卻看不到屋內的情景。這時，劉琛發現八仙桌上有一些奇怪的圖案。王老師解釋說：“這是滿族傳統的圖案，意思是家才是最美好的、幸福的港灣?！痹瓉硎沁@樣!這東西還真讓人捉摸不透呢......咦?還有一間臥室?！翱梢赃M去嗎?”我悄悄問劉琛。“可以。你看這床......”我走進屋，只見床梁上雕刻著葫蘆的圖案，這又是為什么呢?原來，葫蘆是一種傳統花紋，與“福祿”諧音。顧名思義，也就是保佑一生福祿雙至嘍。哎，四合院里的規矩還真是多呢!
