二、為了意義上的需要

英譯漢有時有必要增加合適的動詞、形容詞或副詞，使譯文意思明確，例如：

(1)When I came to I was in the water，swimming automatically，though I was about two thirds drowned.當我清醒過來時，發覺自己在水里，雖然浸得半死，卻本能地浮著。(增補動詞)(原文雖然沒有“發覺”，但譯者根據上下文增補了它，使譯文意思更加明確、表達通順。)

(2)He doubtlessly expected hugs，tablefuls of food，tears，laughter，and conversation followed by more conversation，then hugs and more hugs all over again，without end.毫無疑問，他以為會有熱烈的擁抱，滿桌的食物，激動的淚水，歡樂的笑聲，一段接一段的談話，一次又一次的擁抱，沒完沒了。(譯文中增加了三個相應的形容詞，形象地描繪出他想象中的歡樂場景，使意思更加明確，表達更加生動。)

(3)In the evening，after the banquets，the concerts and the table tennis exhibitions，he would work on the drafting of the final communique.晚上在參加宴會、出席音樂會、觀看乒乓球表演之后，他還得起草最后公報。

(4)These soon told her，… how easy it was and how little it interfered with life's affairs to go and see one's grave.這些人不久便告訴她…去看自己親人的墳墓是多么容易，幾乎一點兒也不妨礙日常生活。

(5)The sky is clear blue now the sun has flung diamonds down on meadow and bank and wood.此時已是萬里藍天，太陽把顆顆光彩奪目的鉆石灑向草原，灑向河岸，灑向樹林。

有時為了意思明確還必須增加合適的名詞或是重復同一名詞，例如：

(1)These early cars were slow，clumsy，and inefficient.這些早期的汽車速度緩慢，行動笨拙，效率不高。(譯文中在形容詞前分別加上了三個名詞，既使譯文意思明確，又使它形成四字詞組，勻稱整齊。)中公考研 http://www.tmdps.cn

2018考研英語翻譯技巧之：省略法

省略是指原文中有些詞在譯文中不譯出來，因為其在譯文中是不言而喻的。換言之，省略是刪去一些可有可無的，或者有了反嫌累贅或違背譯文語言習慣的詞。但省略并不是把原文的某些思想內容刪去。

(1)冠詞的省略

經典例題: Because the body’s defense system is damaged，the patient has little ability to fight off many other diseases.參考譯文: 由于人體的免疫系統遭到破壞，病人幾乎沒有什么能力來抵抗許許多多其他疾病的侵襲。

經典例題: Any substance is made up of atoms whether it is a solid，a liquid，or a gas.參考譯文 任何物質，無論它是固體、液體或氣體，都是由原子構成的。

(2)代詞的省略

經典例題: The desert animals can hide themselves from the heat during the daytime.參考譯文: 沙漠中的獸類能躲避白天的炎熱天氣。

經典例題: We all took it for granted that he would attend the meeting，but in the end he never turned up.參考譯文: 我們都想當然地以為他會來開會，但直到最后他也沒有露面。

經典例題: We live and learn.參考譯文: 活到老，學到老。

(3)連詞的省略

經典例題: Like charges repel each other while opposite charges attract.參考譯文 同性電荷相斥，異性電荷相吸。經典例題: He looked gloomy and troubled.參考譯文: 他看上去有些憂愁不安。

經典例題: If winter comes，can spring be far behind? 參考譯文: 冬天來了，春天還會遠嗎?

(4)介詞的省略

經典例題: The density of air varies directly as pressure，with temperature being constant.參考譯文 溫度不變，空氣的密度和壓力成正比。經典例題: Smoking is prohibited in public places.參考譯文: 公共場所不許吸煙。

經典例題: A body in motion remains in motion unless acted on by an external force.參考譯文 如果沒有外力的作用，運動的物體仍然保持運動狀態。

(5)同位語前置名詞的省略

經典例題: Behaviorists，in contrast，say that differences in scores are due to the fact that blacks are often deprived of many of the educational and other environmental advantages that whites enjoy.分析:在同位句中，the fact就是指that所引導的blacks are often deprived of?that whites enjoy.在翻譯成漢語時，就可以省略the fact，以免顯得累贅。

參考譯文: 相反，行為主義者認為，成績的差異是由于黑人往往被剝奪了白人在教育及其他環境方面所享有的許多有利條件。(1990年真題)

(6)同義詞或近義詞的省略

經典例題: Technology is the application of scientific method and knowledge to industry to satisfy our material needs and wants.分析: 例句原文中的needs and wants是近義詞，在英語中常一起出現，但從中文的角度來看，表達的是同一個意思。所以譯文可以簡潔一些。

參考譯文: 技術就是在工業上應用科學方法和科學知識以滿足我們物質上的需求。

經典例題: Insulators in reality conduct electricity but，nevertheless，their resistance is very high.分析: but，nevertheless是近義詞，在文中都表示“但是”。

參考譯文: 絕緣體實際上也導電，但其電阻很高。

第五篇：顏色詞翻譯參考

red letter day：指的是“紀念日”或“喜慶的日子”。

see red: 怒不可遏（red-blooded males: 精力充沛的人, 活躍的人

white elephant 白象，累贅物；white hope人們寄予厚望者

white lie沒有惡意的謊言。

black money：黑錢

A.red（紅色）

無論是在英語國家還是在中國，紅色往往與慶祝活動或喜慶日子有關。因為日歷中，這些日子常用紅色字體。因此，red letter day：指的是“紀念日”或“喜慶的日子”。

紅色還指“負債”或“虧損”，因為人們總是用紅筆登記負數。于是就有了這些詞組：red figure：赤字

red ink：赤字

in the red：虧損

red-ink entry：赤字分錄

red balance：赤字差額

除此之外，還有如

red cent：一分錢；red gold：純金；red tip on stock market：指股票市場的最新情報漢語中常用的帶“紅”字的詞語，翻譯成英語，可不一定用“red”。例如：

紅糖：brown sugar

紅茶：black tea

紅榜：honour roll

紅豆：love pea

紅運：good luck

紅利：dividend

紅事：wedding

red wine： 紅酒

red ruin： 火災

red battle： 血戰

red sky： 彩霞

B.black（黑色）

在英語中經常有“不好的”、“壞的”、“邪惡的”這種意味。例如：

black money：黑錢（指來源不正當而且沒有向政府報稅的錢）

black market：黑市交易或黑市（意為暗中進行政府禁止買賣的商品或外匯的交易，或指進行違法的投機市場）；由此派生出black market price：黑市價格

另外，英語中，和紅色墨水是記帳時的意思相反，黑色還可表示盈利。例如：black figure / in the black：盈利、賺錢、順差

又如

black figure nation：國際收支順差國

interest in the black：應收利息

C.blue（藍色）

在英語中通常表示不快樂、憂郁的情緒。如：

in a blue mood：情緒低沉

還常用來表示社會地位高、有權勢或出身貴族或王族。如

He is a real blue blood.（他是真正的貴族。）

blue-eyed boys：受到管理當局寵愛和特別照顧的職工

a blue moon：千載難逢的機會

經濟詞匯中blue表示許多不同意思。如：
