會展英語專業術語及其翻譯

[摘要]商業會展翻譯在會展中充當著調和者的作用，而會展英語是會展中應用最為廣泛并且獨具特色的一種語言，對于促進會展發展有著重要的作用。本文分析了會展英語專業術語的特點，研究了會展英語應用時的問題，從而提出了一定的翻譯策略。

會展英語雖然區別于普通英語，但是又源于普通英語，是普通英語和會展領域知識相結合后而產生的，因此會展英語不僅具有普通英語的特征，還具有自身的獨特性。會展英語有很多和其他英語所不同的詞匯和專業術語，因此，在翻譯會展英語的過程中，必須熟練掌握翻譯的技巧還有相關的會展專業知識。英語詞匯本身就具有含義范圍廣、詞義依賴性大、獨立性小和內容豐富等特點，因此當英語詞匯處于孤立的狀態時，往往無法表達出自身所具有的意義。因此要想充分理解詞語在使用時的具體詞義，就需要和上下文想聯系，或是參考其他的詞語搭配及組合關系，才能從中提取出具體的義釋，會展英語也不例外，研究會展英語的專業術語及其翻譯有著重要的意義和價值。

一、會展英語的特點

（一）概念

會展英語是近年來新興的一門語言學科，其中的理論大多數來自于國外，只有部分研究結合了我國的國情，因此就造成了會展英語的概念發生偏誤的現象，目前會展英語主要分為三個流派。第一個是歐派，這一流派一般將會展稱為

C&E

（convention&exposition）

或是

M&E（meeting&exposition），也就是會議和展覽，即會展；第二個是美派，在北美地區中，美國是會展的理論主要集中地，而他們將會展總結為MICE，其中M是公司會議（meeting）的意思，I是獎勵旅游（incentive tourism）的意思，C是協會和社團組織所組織的會議（convention），而E則表示的是展覽會（exhibition or exposition）的意思；第三個是綜合派，隨著近年來全球經濟的不斷發展以及貿易越來越自由化，因此這個派別對于會展美派的概念進行了一定的補充，將MICE轉變成為了MICEE，其中多出來的一個E表示的是節事活動（e―vent）的意思，因為隨著節事活動在會展中的作用越來越大，因此在會展英語中的地位也逐漸提高。

（二）專業術語

隨著會展業的不斷發展和壯大，目前急需一批會展專業的人才，然而因為我國的會展業起步較晚，發展較為薄弱，會展專業人才較為匱乏，人才的素質也普遍偏低，尤其是英語人才在會展業的發展中起到了重要的作用，因此使得整個會展業的發展受到了嚴重的阻礙。會展英語的應用不僅涉及到了閱讀、口頭和筆試等表達能力方面，有著大量的專業術語和詞匯，如Booth有著展臺、售貨棚、展覽攤位的意思，Booth contractor則有著展臺搭建公司的意思；又如Convention site inspection有著會議場地考察的意思，而Con―vention registration則有著會議代表簽到的意思；還如Exhibi―tion planning有著展前聯絡的意思，而Exhibition manual則是參展商手冊的意思。會展英語往往會因為功能和表達習慣的不同，需要使用不同的英語詞匯才能表發出來，如會議，就會因為會議的類型差異，而有著convention（年會）、conference（專業會）、seminar（研討會）和forum（論壇）等不同的形式。

（三）涉及范圍

目前，會展業的發展前景越來越廣闊，不僅成為了第二產業的重要組成部分和經濟增長點，還涉及到了紡織、建材、食品和科技等多樣化的行業，而會展英語是商家們得以溝通的重要途徑。如“I would suggest you make a reservationwith your credit card now otherwise we can’t guarantee yourbooth.”這一句可以翻譯為為了確保您的展位使用，我建議您使用信用卡進行預定；又如“The contract contains basicallyall we have agreed upon during our negotiation.We agree to in―sert a clause giving you a ten day grace period.But when thegrace period expires，the contract is annulled.”?@一句可以翻譯為我們談判中達成的協議這個合同上基本都有了。我們可以加上你的10天寬限期條款。但是當期限到時還未執行合同，這個合約就終止。這兩個例子是有關展位預訂和合同簽訂的內容，從中就能夠清楚地看出，會展英語中所涉及到的范圍極為廣闊。

（四）語言運用

與其他的英語領域相比，會展英語更加注重語言的實際應用，會展中的工作人員常常會為了和客商進行交流而使用英語對話，對話內容往往都是一些有關產品、技術和服務類的話題。如“Canton Fair is actually described as the oneof the biggest event±0r Foreign buyers and Chinese suppliers oftextiles&garment.”中國供貨商和國外買家進行紡織服裝貿易的最大會展之一就是廣交會；又如“We can’t agree withthe adjustment or amendations to the contract as your side al―Yeady signed the letter of intent at your booth.”因為你的展位已經簽訂了合作意向書，因此我們不同意對合同進行變更。在會展英語中，語言必須婉轉而得體，才能夠為雙方的交流和溝通提供良好額社會基礎，從而扮演協調雙方的角色，創造出良好的會展交流環境，進而達成自身的交易目標。

二、會展英語翻譯問題

（一）會展宣傳問題

會展宣傳時的翻譯問題主要有三點，其一是城市名稱的排列問題，在漢語中地名的排列通常都是有大到小，而且其中包含了許多地名，其中第一的通常都是國家。而在會展名的翻譯中，常常會出現不同的地名和國民，這就造成了位置的混亂問題。例如中國?加拿大合作研討洽談會往往會翻譯為Canada China&Cooperation Symposium，將加拿大放在了中國的前面，不符合展名的翻譯原則。其二是對于會展的定文問題，會展中活動橫標的語言是其中最具特色的標簽，一般橫標中的詞匯都使用conference會議、exhibition展會和show展示會等名詞，然而應為并沒有進行性質的定位，因此在翻譯的過程中常常會出現展名前后不一致等現象，不僅會讓客戶產生疑惑，還不利于企業的對外發展。其三是展會的信息不明顯問題，在很多展會翻譯中，對于參展企業的產品和商標等內容并沒有正確的翻譯，使得產品的信息展現得并不完整，甚至客戶根本無法了解商標和名稱中所包含的深刻意義，影響了產品信息的出口。

（二）企業宣傳問題

而在會展中的企業宣傳問題可以分為兩方面來談，一方面是企業簡介的翻譯問題，企業簡介是企業對外宣傳的核心，然而因為中西方的文化和語言表達方式存在的差異性，企業簡介的翻譯也會產生較大的誤差，如在涉及到“龍”的翻譯中，龍在我國的精神十分美好，是宣傳的重點，然而在西方文化中，龍通常是dragon惡龍和怪獸的意思，常常會讓顧客望而卻步。另一方面是企業標語的翻譯問題，企業標語是企業的口號，翻譯的好壞將直接決定著企業的銷售，在翻譯的過程中最為明顯的一個問題就是常常會出現漢氏英語，即翻譯常常只是生硬的套譯了漢語的意思，讓客戶產生較大的疑惑，從而影響企業的銷售。如“小中見大，博覽天下”，翻譯為“Feel the heavy weight of the small；understandthe essence of SME”，完全是生搬硬套，讓人摸不著頭腦，而且標語非常的長，人們根本記不住，因此起不到標語的口號宣傳作用。

三、翻譯原則

（一）忠實原則

忠實即指不僅僅需要遵循句子結構的一致性，譯文的意思也不能夠脫離原文，尤其是近視性的現象絕對不能夠在會展英語中出現。因為會展英語所要求的是意思和信息要對等，如廣告的翻譯，在廣告中，最為重要的就是賣點，它能夠讓消費者產生購買的欲望，然而要是譯文無法提供充足的信息量，消費者的購買欲望就會消逝。在國內的會展英語廣告中，采用的通常是“四字”結構，即形式新穎：Up todate style以及造型美觀：Beautiful/Handsome appearance等；還有運用心理聯想等方式采用的使用意翻譯方式，如輕松柔軟：Soft and Light和交貨及時：Timely delivery guaranteed，適當的增加一些詞匯；還可以利用修辭等手段，如利用比喻手法：柔軟迷人，色澤悅目Soft enchanting，smiling color以及利用擬人手法：美人鮮花，傾訴衷腸Flowers By Beauty speakfrom the heart（擬人）等。

（二）準確原則

準確即指翻譯出的文本應當清楚的表達出要表達的意思，并能夠出現語法和邏輯等方面的錯誤，在結構方面則不強求一致性。因為會展英語和貿易、合同及投資等方面有著密切的關系，因此不能夠隨意地進行翻譯，而準確性是翻譯中的最為重要的核心原則，無論是信函還是合同等方面的翻譯都應當充分遵循準確的原則。其中信函是參展企業相互交流的重要媒介之一，不僅僅能夠建立和維持雙方的友誼，還有利于公司美好形象的塑造，而信函的翻譯不僅要求格式的規范，在內容和語言方面也需要做到簡練而準確。在翻譯信函的過程中，一定要注重禮貌語的運用，如Dearsir/Dear madam以及Sincerely yours/Yours truly等，而且需要注意的是，在翻譯信函時，語言的運用必須簡潔明了，讓對方能夠迅速的了解信函的?熱蕁?

（三）統一原則

統一即指在翻譯的過程中，針對概念、定義和專業術語應當做到上下統一，不能夠出現任何的改變。然而隨著新詞匯的不斷增加，翻譯也出現了巨大的麻煩，如WW―WorldWide Web有著萬維網、國際網、環球網以及世界咨詢網等意思，而Volve也有著沃爾沃、伏爾沃以及伏爾伏等不同的翻譯版本，而這些不同意的翻譯方式，就使得在翻譯的過程中，需要花費較大的精力去了解和掌握各個版本問的關系，才能夠保證譯文的統一性。因此可以從兩方面入手來保持統一性，其一可以借鑒有關權威報紙的翻譯方式；其二可以對一些商標、商業習語以及商品名稱進行標準的統一化，不同的商標有著不同的翻譯方式，而使用最為廣泛的方法就是音譯法，在使用商業習語的時候如果無法找到合適的詞語，則可以利用相關詞語進行翻譯，而商品名稱則可以利用專業的詞典工具，尋找詞典中被認可的商品名稱。

四、結論
