There was a law in the city of Athens which gave to its citizens the power of forcing their daughters to marry whomever they pleased.For if a daughter refused to marry the man her father had chosen to be her husband, the father might by thus law cause her to be put to death.Egeus and Hermia上場

Egeus: Hermia, you have to marry Demetrious, the best guy in the city.荷米亞，你必須嫁給狄米崔斯，這城中最好的年輕人。

Hermia: I’m sorry, Dad!I can’t be his wife.I don’t love him.I’ve fell in love with Lysander.爸爸，抱歉。我不能成為他的妻子。我不愛他。我已經(jīng)愛上了萊賽德。

Egeus: Lysander? Is he better than Demetrious? No!

萊賽德？他會(huì)比狄米崔斯好嗎？不！

Hermia: Oh!Dad!Demettrious had ever said that he love my friend, Helena, and she, a sweet lady also love him deeply.喔！爸爸，狄米崔斯曾說過，他愛我的朋友—海倫娜，而這一個(gè)甜美女孩也深愛狄米崔斯。Egeus: No matter what you say, I’ve decided to let you marry to Demetrious.I stick to do this!

放心吧，他再也不會(huì)看見我的臉了，明晚萊賽德和我將要逃離此地，我們相約在森林里見面，請(qǐng)你為我們祈禱，并且不要告訴其他人，再見。

Helena: I will go tell Demetrious of fair Hermia’s flight, and then he’ll pursue her.I just want to have his sight again.(下)

我要去告訴狄米崔斯,美麗的荷米亞將要離開，然后他將會(huì)去追尋她，而我只是想再看見他的容貌。

第二幕(森林中)

口白：Tonight, the moon is so beautiful.The wood was a favorite meeting-place of those little fairies.The king is always thinking, but what is he thinking of? The atmosphere is a little strange

這個(gè)樹林是精靈最喜歡的聚會(huì)地點(diǎn)，可是仙王和仙后此時(shí)發(fā)生了嚴(yán)重的爭吵。

Oberon: I’ll meet by moonlight, proud Titania.真不巧又在月光下遇見你，傲慢的泰妲妮亞。

Titania: What jealous Oberon!You are as lovely as before.Why dou’t you become a little handsome?Your head is just a pig head.Your stomach is like a big melon.下

Oberon: Well, go your way.Before the morning dawns, I will make you suffer for this injury.Come here, my gentle Puck.好，你走吧，在黎明之前，我一定要為這侮辱懲罰你。我的好派克，過來。

Puck: I’m here, my lord.我在這兒，我的主人。

Oberon: Fetch me the juice of that little purple flower, laid on the eyelids of those who sleep, will make them, when they awake, love madly the first thing they see crazily.替我把花拿來，一旦將那紫色小花的汁液滴在睡眠者的眼皮上，當(dāng)他們醒來時(shí)，便會(huì)瘋狂的愛上所看到的第一件東西。

第三幕(森林的另一處)

Lysander: Fair love, you faint with wandering in the wood;if you think it good, and tarry for the comfort of the day.好人，你在樹林中跋涉著，累得快要昏倒了，要是你同意，讓我們休息一下吧。Hermia: Be it so, Lysander.Good night, sweet lover.就照你的意思吧，萊賽德。晚安，愛人。

Lysander: I wish sleep give you all his rest!

愿睡眠給你充分的休養(yǎng)。

Hermia: I will share with you.我愿與你分享。

兩人同睡，Puck上

Puck: Ah!Who is here? This is he, the cruel youth.And she is the lady.Pretty soul!She durst not lie near this lack-love.Churl, I’ll drop the love-juice in your eyes.Hey!It’s so funny!(下)

啊，誰在這兒？這是那殘酷的年輕人，而她就是那個(gè)女孩。美麗的人兒，她竟然不敢睡近這沒心肝的惡漢。壞東西，我將在你的眼精滴進(jìn)愛情的花液。嘿，真有趣。

Helena: I am out of breath in the fond chase!The more my prayer, the less is my grace.Who is lying on the ground? Oh!He is Lysander!Is he dead or asleep? Good sir, if you are alive, awake.這癡心的追趕使我累得喘不過氣來，我愈是祈求，卻愈惹他討厭。是誰躺在地上?喔，是萊賽德，他是死了還是睡著了?好先生，如果你還活著，就醒醒吧。

Lysander: What a pretty beauty!Helena, I would through fire for your sweet sake.多漂亮的美女，海倫娜，我愿為你赴湯蹈火。

Helena: Do not say so, Lysander.Don’t you love Hermia?

別這麼說，萊賽德。你不愛荷米亞嗎？

Lysander: I don’t love her at all.For me, she is just a black raven, and you are a white dove.我一點(diǎn)也不愛她，對(duì)我而言，她只是只烏鴉，而你是只白鴿。

第四幕

Oberon:Demetrious and Lysander are gone to seek a place to fight in.Puck, this is your carelessness;or did you do it purposely?

Oberon: You heard, I command you to fill the night with a thick fog, and let they shall not be able to find each other.And when they are asleep, drop the juice of this other flower into Lysander’s eyes.你聽著：我命令你使黑夜中充滿濃霧好讓他們找不到對(duì)方。當(dāng)他們睡著時(shí)，就解除萊賽

德的魔法。

Puck: I know, I know

我懂，我懂。

Oberon: Go about this quickly, Puck.and all things shall be peace.(兩人同下)

派克，趕快去辦這件事！一切事情都將和平解決。

第五幕(森林中四人熟睡著)

口白：These people, at no great distance from each other, sleeping on a grass-plot.Puck: Look!How careful I am!I’ll release the magic.When you are awake, everyone will find true love.This is really a happy ending!(下)

看！我是多麼的小心！我要解除魔法。當(dāng)你們醒來時(shí)，每個(gè)人將找到真愛。這真是快樂結(jié)局！

大家都醒來

Wolf：（從樹后出來，邊走邊說）I am very hungry now.(做找尋的樣子)Where is Grandma’ s house?(高興地對(duì)觀眾說)Aha , it’s here.(敲門)Bang, Bang, Bang．

Grandma：

Wolf：（裝出Little Red Riding Hood的聲音，一邊得意地?fù)u動(dòng)尾巴，一邊說）It’s me.Little Red Riding Hood.Grandma：

(邊說邊起床)Come in, come in.Wolf：(得意洋洋地走到床邊)Grandma , I’ll eat you.Grandma：（驚慌失措地抓緊衣服，瞪著眼睛，邊叫迫從床上滾到地上）

灰狼把外婆吞到了肚子里。

Wolf：(裝扮成Grandma的聲音)Who is it？

Wolf：Come in，Come in.Little Red Riding Hood：(蹦跳著進(jìn)來，把籃子放在桌紫，走到床前一看，跳回幾步)Oh!What are big ears!

Wolf：I can listen to your sweet voice.Little Red Riding Hood：Wow!What a big eyes!

Wolf：I can see you pretty face.Little Red Riding Hood：Oh!What a big hand.Wolf：I can hug you.Little Red Riding Hood：（跪在床前，拉起Wolf的手，邊摸邊說）Look!What a big hands?
