中國的文學

中文原文：

與舞蹈和音樂相伴的歌謠跟口頭流傳的神話，遠在文字出現之前就已大量產生。中國的文學正是發端于此。不過歌謠本是人們在生活中隨興而發的東西，上古時代也沒有保存和記載它們的手段，因之也就很快湮滅，不留痕跡。我們只能從一些古籍書中推斷它們的存在。古書中記載了一些據稱年代非常久遠的歌謠，但是大多出于后人的偽托，能夠斷定朝代的歌謠要到《詩經》里才能看見。從這點來看，古代神話對中國文學的影響更為顯著。參考譯文：

Long before the emergence of the written word, ballads, accompanied by music and dance,and myths, passed around by word of mouth, were widely popular.Chinese literature finds its origins in these traditions.However, ballads were what people improvised out of daily life, and due to lack of means to record and preserve them in ancient times, they quickly disappeared without leaving much of a trace.Today, we can only deduce their existence from ancient books, which recorded some time-honored ballads, though most of these are belived to be derivatives of later generations.Ballads in the Book of Songs are the earliest writings that can be dated.From this point of view, ancient mythology obviously has had a great influence on Chinese literature.

籠子里的老虎總是羨慕外面老虎的自由，外面的老虎卻羨慕籠子里的老虎安逸。一日，一只老虎對另一只老虎說：“咱們換一換?！绷硪恢焕匣⑼饬?。

于是籠子里的老虎走進了大自然，野地里的老虎走進了籠子。但不久，兩只老虎都死了。一只是饑餓而死，一只是憂郁而死。

許多時候，人們往往對自己的幸福熟視無睹，而覺得別人的幸福很耀眼，卻想不到別人的幸福也許對自己不合適。

The secret of being a saint

Once upon a time there lived in a country a do-gooder.The king was very appreciative of his deeds and decided to honour him as a saint by a decree.On the saint's eightieth birthday, the king was invited to his birthday celerbration.He brought with him a painter so as to do a picture of the kindly saint as a paragon for his countrymen.When the feast is over all the guests were asked to have a look at the picture.To their great surprise, when the picture was shown, what they saw was not a kind but a ruthless and cruel look.The king was very angry at seeing this and ordered his men to beat the painter.Upon hearing the noise, the saint rushed to the scene to have a look at the picture.After viewing it, the saint knelt down and said, “your majesty, the person in the picture is none other than me.” Why?“ said the king, dumbfounded.”This has been the very person whom I have never wanted to be."

In this world, there are no naturally born saints;only those who can do self-criticism and sel-examination, can become saints.參考譯文：

用完晚餐之后，眾多的嘉賓前來觀賞這幅慈愛的畫。肖像畫家將這幅畫像拿出來的時候，所有人大吃一驚。因為畫里的人根本沒有慈善的面貌，反而充滿暴戾，粗野，邪惡的氣息。國王一看，生氣地要人把畫家拖出去鞭打。

這時，圣者聽到驚呼聲，跑了過來，他看到這幅畫后，跪倒在地：“國王，這畫里的人，才是真實的我啊。”國王驚詫地問：“為什么?”圣者道：“這就是我一生掙扎著，不想去做的那個人啊。”

在這世上，沒有天生的圣者，惟有能時時刻刻自我反省，自我檢視的人，才能成為圣者。

萬事萬物由方方面面組成，而那個“男女都一樣”的口號，只是向女人提出要求，卻沒有相同的口號要求男人和女人做得一樣：一樣耐心持久地撫育孩子一樣任勞任怨地操持家務;一樣盡心盡責地侍奉老人。仔細想想，“男女都一樣”的口號曾鼓勵著許多婦女竭力地建樹了和男人一樣的豐功偉績，同時，女人卻依然要做那些和男人不一樣的事。其實，所謂“一樣”的口號，使女人在做著女人的同時再做男人;其實，所謂“一樣”的口號，讓女人們又給自己加重了一挑擔子;其實，女人和男人在根本上還是不一樣的。

All things under heaven and earth are made up of different parts, but the slogan “women are as good as men” makes demands on women without making a corresponding demand on men to be “just as good as women”：to raise children just as patiently, to do household chores just as uncomplainingly, to care for the old just as dutifully.Come to think of it, the slogan "women are as good as men” has spurred women on to achievements to challenge men’s.But at the same time，women must still do what men do not stoop to.The fact is, “women are as good as men” means that women after doing what women do, must take up another burden.Let's face it, basically women are not as the same as men.
