【語法用法】
reflect可作及物動詞或不及物動詞,作不及物動詞時,后面常跟介詞on/upon/over。

4.distinguish—be able to notice or recognize the difference between
e.g.Speeches distinguish human beings from animals.人類和動物的區(qū)別在于人會說話。
She distinguished herself by her coolness and bravery.她因頭腦冷靜、敢作敢為而為人稱道。
The twins were so much alike that it was impossible to distinguish one from the other.這對孿生子像得使人無法分辨。
He distinguished himself by his courage.他因英勇而揚名。
5.insight—deep understanding;the ability to see into the true nature of sth.e.g.In this new book he hits off the American temperament with amazing insight.在這本新書里,他對美國人性格的描寫表現(xiàn)出驚人的洞察力。

7.predict—say in advance what will happen
e.g.I can predict something with great accuracy.我能很準確地預(yù)測某事。
The zodiac is used in astrology to predict the future.十二宮圖用于占星術(shù)中預(yù)測未來。
It is virtually impossible to predict the future accurately.精確預(yù)言未來的事實際上是辦不到的。
The fortune-teller predicted that I would marry a doctor.算命先生預(yù)言我會同一位醫(yī)生結(jié)婚。
The economists predicted an increase in the rate of inflation.經(jīng)濟學(xué)家預(yù)言通貨膨脹率將會增長。
【語法用法】
predict意為“預(yù)言”,“預(yù)告”,指將來有可能發(fā)生但是現(xiàn)在尚未發(fā)生的事情,因此謂語時態(tài)要遲一步于主語時態(tài)。
錯句舉例與錯句分析:
錯句: Biologists are predicting that they have been able to alter genes and control heredity.訂正: Biologist are predicting that they will be able to alter genes and control heredity.翻譯: 生物學(xué)家預(yù)言他們有能力改變基因,控制遺傳特征。
分析: 賓語從句中謂語動詞時態(tài)要遲一步于主語的時態(tài)。
8.context--n.上下文, 環(huán)境, 背景
e.g.The determination of the meaning of a word is often difficult without a context.脫離上下文來確定一個詞的含義常常是困難的。
It is usually easier to pick out the meaning of a phrase in a given context.在特定的上下文中理解一個短語的含意往往要更容易些。
