9月7日，93歲的黃裳老人在上海瑞金醫院安詳地去世。

深受周氏兄弟影響的一代散文大家、藏書家黃裳，可謂集名士風流和斗士精神于一身。他生于“五四”運動爆發三個月后，成長于中國現代文學最為繁榮的上世紀二三十年代，上世紀四十年代登上文壇，“反右”和“文革”中遭受迫害，晚年如老樹絢爛開花。

黃裳登上文壇與兩位作家有關，一是柯靈，二是巴金。

上世紀三十年代末，還是一個中學生的時候，熟讀新文學的黃裳就開始試著投稿，最初的習作就發表在《文匯報》副刊“世紀風”上，而“世紀風”的編者就是柯靈。1942年，又應柯靈的約稿，寫了幾篇《江上雜記》。尤其是柯靈和唐弢創辦的《周報》，發表了黃裳的一組有影響力的通訊報道，這成為他進入新聞業的“投名狀”。1945年下半年，也是在柯靈的介紹下，黃裳進入《文匯報》報社工作。

柯靈激發了黃裳最初的寫作熱情，而真正將黃裳推上文壇的，還是巴金。沒有巴金的提攜，黃裳不會走上文學道路。黃裳說，“他將我所寫的旅行記事散文介紹到《旅行雜志》，得到了重慶的第一筆稿費”，“他商量著把我發表過的散文收集起來，出版了我人生第一本書。”這本書就是《錦帆集》。從這時起，年長黃裳15歲的巴金成為影響黃裳最深的朋友，他們的友誼持續了半個多世紀。

在黃裳的女兒容潔眼里，父親很有理想，也很執著，這輩子一直很辛勤地工作，“他對我說，寫作是一件良心事，一個作家，最重要的是把自己的心‘挖’出來。一解放，他就寫了一篇報道讓很多人不高興，但他從不改，他就是這樣的人。” 在1957年的“反右斗爭”中，黃裳因為一篇題為《解凍》的報道受到毛澤東的親自批判，并被打成了“右派”。“文革”時被下放到印刷廠當搬運工，那是他的朋友鄭重經常見到他： “我看到黃裳穿著工人服，數百公斤重的卷筒紙，在他手下反轉調向滾動，操作自如。他身體敦壯厚實，有時雙手卡腰立在那里，就像一座鐘，毫無猥瑣卑屈的樣子，每當看到他這個樣子，心中也感嘆著：真是一個人物！”

黃裳把這段時間稱為“好日子”，因為不久他就被下放到了干校。在干校一年左右的時間里，黃裳感到實實在在地上了認真的一課，他在那里不斷被批斗，飽受凌辱，這讓他看透了那形形色色人物的心。但他也對自己在“文革”中的行為進行了深刻的反思。“我覺得痛苦的是在一段時期里沒有能嚴肅認真地面對生活，失去了做一個正直公民的勇氣??十年**，也應該有我一份責任。如果沒有大量的精神境界像我一樣的群眾，那場大**是不會順順當當地發展到那樣規模的。”
