中學英語教學的目的之一在與培養學生使用英語進行交際的能力,也就是說英語的聽、說、讀、寫能力。傳統的應試教學模式,重讀、寫能力訓練,輕聽、說能力的培養,留下了英語教育中的“聾啞”后遺癥。如何提高學生聽力水平,給我們從事基礎英語教育的同仁們留下了深思。
一、“聽”在教學中的地位
“聽”是人們交際活動的基本的形式。弗里斯說:“學生學會說英語的前提首先是聽?!眮喞锷酱笠舱f過,“掌握一種語言,首先是聽懂,聽懂的比重占有90%,能聽懂才覺得舒服,聽不懂就覺得不自在。”由此可見,聽在英語諸多的交際功能中占主導地位。
在當今社會中,隨著各種媒體的廣泛使用,聽的素質變的日益重要了,但目前中學英語教學中仍存在重閱讀,輕聽說的現象,學生聽力培養和提高往往被忽視。在完成了六年英語學習的高中畢業生中,英語筆試能力卓而不凡的不乏其人,但每當聽別人說英語卻是一頭霧水,糊里糊涂。為改變這種狀況我們必須加大聽力訓練,因而注重并加強聽力教學方法的探索與研究,是提高中學英語聽力水平的關鍵所在。
二、聽力訓練的一般方法
1、用英語組織教學,使英語聽力經?;?/p>
課堂是實施英語聽力訓練的主陣地,要為學生創造一個良好的語言環境,就必須用英語組織教學。例如:在一篇課文的Dialogue教學中,向學生出示一副畫著漂亮自行車的圖片,然后對學生說:look at this picture , what can you see ?(I can see a bike).通過這樣的情景教學,即使學生不看書,也能容易聽懂對話內容,從而增加了學生在課內接受聽力訓練的機會。
用英語組織課堂教學是對學生進行聽力訓練最基本、最簡便、最實效的形式,在用英語組織課堂教學的過程中,應注意以下幾點:(1)培養學生聽英語的濃厚興趣,增強他們提高聽力的信心。烏申斯基曾說過:“沒有任何興趣,被迫進行的學習會扼殺學生掌握知識的愿望?!币虼?培養學生對“聽”的興趣,是進行聽力訓練的前提。
(2)努力提高自身業務素質,盡可能做到用流利得體的英語組織課堂教學。教師的言辭,學生都會效仿,甚至于教師的發音、語調以及表達方式,學生也有可能模仿得很真。因此,英語教師必須加強業務修養,用流利、標準的課堂英語口語組織教學。
2、合理設計聽力訓練方式,使聽力訓練規范化
中學英語聽力訓練方式很多,主要包括聽音辯音、聽說對話、聽寫、聽力理解等。
(1)辯音訓練要隨時隨地進行。
(2)聽說對話訓練要抓平時。
聽是理解信息,說是表達和傳遞信息,聽是說的基礎,說是聽的提高。因此,中學英語訓練的第一步是如何讓學生開口說英語,要重在他們用英語自由表達的習慣,要抓平時,抓養成。
(3)聽寫訓練要抓反復
聽寫是最樸實、最簡便的聽力訓練方式,也是提高聽力水平必不可少的一環。它是一種限時性強,輸入量大,需要高度集中一個人的注意力并充分調動一個人所有語言知識的腦力勞動過程。聽寫作為一種固定的日常練習,使學生養成良好的聽寫習慣,當然聽寫有一種循序漸進的過程,可以從單調詞組開始,逐步過渡到段落及至全文。
(4)理解訓練要抓突出。
聽力理解包括對句子和文章的基本事實的認定及文章相關內容間邏輯關系的推斷,是聽力的高級表現形式,必須要常抓不懈。尤其在聽力過程中,抓重點、抓突出,爭取做到學生對聽力有足夠的重視。
3、遵守聽力規律,使聽力訓練科學化
英語聽力是一個“細活”,需要付出一定時間才能提高。但是教師在教學過程中,需要掌握規律,對癥下藥。
(1)明確目的。
在做聽力練習之前,特別是聽力材料是短文時,必須讓學生明白他們要做什么,讓學生了解語言材料的背景,然后瀏覽題干部分及答案,讓他們感到心中有數。
(2)掌握技巧。
在訓練聽力時對學生進行聽法指導是十分必要的。首先要消除畏懼心理、增強自信,然后要告誡學生不因為一兩個單詞沒聽懂而患得患失,要抓住關鍵詞,抓主要線索,抓整體。還要讓學生在進行聽力測試時盡量記錄下材料的基本事實。
(3)精心選擇聽力材料。聽力材料的適當選擇是直接影響學生的“聽”的積極性和聽力效果的。教師應選擇由易到難,由淺到深的系列材料,可以先從辯音入手,然后逐步過渡到短句、長句、段落及篇章結構,再應結合新教材的特點,選擇語言規范,交際性強又十分按英美文化和習俗的語言材料。
(4)引導學生用英語思維,使聽力訓練個性化。
學生在聽英語的過程中,習慣于將聽到的一切都翻譯成漢語,人為的增強了聽力理解過程中的英譯漢,然后再到漢譯英的環節,從而跟不上速度,提不高效率,指導學生用英語思維,減少心譯過程,使學生把聽到的或自己表達的英語與客觀事物建立直接關系,是培養學生良好的聽力習慣,提高學生聽力效果的主要一環,同時要教育學生不要把一切都翻譯成母語。
三、中學生英語聽力遇到的困難
1、語言上的困難 所聽的材料中出現新詞,新句型和新語法現象,或者由于連續、弱讀、失去爆破、重音移動等而使詞句發生變化,這些都會引起聽的困難,克服這種困難最初可通過分析性聽力練習來解決。
2、內容上的困難
學生聽英語時,由于不熟悉英美人的生活習慣、文化特色、興趣愛好等,常會感到所聽材料顯無具體的新詞名著,但卻不能聽懂內容。所以聽力練習配合一定的情景,并在教學中注意介紹文化背景。
3、心理上的困難
中學生聽英語的潛在困難屬于心理障礙,總感到被動、無把握,因此過分緊張。這樣,本來可以聽懂的也聽不懂了。不要過分注意每個音,每個詞,每個句,每一細節。聽的時候的注意要集中到內容上而不是語言上,大意上而不是細節上,正在聽的而不是已聽過的。
總之,學生的聽力訓練要以簡單、明顯、確切為原則,使學生集中注意力于聽,同時對于一些專門用來檢查聽力理解的做法還要進行一定的練習,使學生的理解與反應同步進行。參考書目: 《中學英語教學法》 主編: 胡春洞 高等教育出版

——淺說英語單詞教學中的“先學后教”
【摘 要】本文借助英語單詞教學針對“先學后教”的教學理論就其“可行性”和“必要性”進行了闡述,并用實際教學例子圍繞“?先學?學什么”、“?先學?如何學”、“?后教?怎么教”三個方面對“先學后教”的方法和手段進行了論證,結論為:運用“先學后教”的教學模式進行單詞教學,是真正實現學生從死記硬背的“奴隸”轉變成輕松高效的“將軍”的有效途徑,是學生在課堂上“翻身作主”的有效辦法!

英語的聽、說、讀、寫都離不開單詞,單詞教學在小學英語教學中有著極其重要的地位。長期以來,小學英語單詞教學大多還沒有走出“死記硬背”的圈子,有沒有能夠徹底改變這種單調、效率低下的教學方法呢?答案是肯定的。我認為“先學后教”應該是最好的選擇。
“先學后教”模式具有超前性與針對性、獨立性與參與性、異步性與開放性的特點,每堂課教師都不要先講,而是先讓學生自學?!跋葘W后教”中的“先學”不是盲目地學,而是在教師指導下自學,學生帶著教師布置的任務和既定的目標自學,學生的自學成為一堂課的起點,是這種教學模式的最大特色和亮點。
一、“先學后教”的可行性和必要性
“先學后教”的教學模式最早是由江蘇省泰興市洋思中學提出來的,是對傳統的“先教后學、課后作業”教學模式的顛覆性改革。
小學英語的單詞教學能不能適應這一教學方法呢?不少教師都質疑過。我曾經在小學高年級和中年級的英語教學中以單詞教學為突破口采用“先學后教”方法,通過對合格率、鞏固率、優秀率等數據的前后比較分析,運用“先學后教”的方式效果非常明顯,我確信,小學英語單詞教學運用這種方法是可行的。聽了市教育局英語教研室鄧寧霞老師的一堂成功的示范課,給了我很多啟示,更加證明了這一點。
余文森教授在《有效教學十講》中說:“當學生處于相對獨立和基本獨立的學習階段,具有一定的獨立學習能力的時候,必須?先學后教?”。余教授還說,不論學生處于什么樣的學習階段,也不論學生是怎樣的依靠老師,每個學生都具有相當強的獨立學習的能力,這種學習能力是與生俱來的?,F在高年級學生已有了一定的英語基礎,中年級學生也有一定的生活基礎,因此,在單詞教學中,采用“先學后教”模式是是一定可行的。
目前小學英語教學改革就是要把“以教師為中心”的教學模式轉變為“以學生為中心”的教學模式,“先學后教”模式體現了新課程所提倡的讓學生自主學習、探究學習的原則,與教改方向是完全一致的。從這點出發,運用“先學后教”方式進行英語單詞教學也是完全必要的,因為:(1)“先學后教”能提高學生的學習興趣和激發學生的學習動力。(2)“先學后教”有助于學生養成獨立思考、自主學習的習慣。
(3)“先學后教”更能增強教師教學的針對性。“針對性”避免了教學的盲目性和面面俱到。正是這種有針對性的教學,才達到“教師少教,學生多學”的理想效果。
(4)“先學后教”有利于提高學習效果和教學效率。“先學后教”提高了學生的參與熱情,增強了學生的自信心,縮小了優生和后進生之間的差距,在根本上提高了教學效率,為學生的未來發展打下了堅實的基礎。
二、英語單詞教學如何進行“先學后教” 那么在英語單詞教學中如何運用“先學后教”,讓學生學得輕松、教師教得高效呢?我認為主要解決以下三個問題:一是明確“先學”學什么,二是明確“先學”如何學,三是明確“后教”怎么教。
(一)明確“先學”學什么
“先學”與傳統的“預習”不同,“先學”并不是學生漫無目的地學,而是在教師指導下進行的有明確目標和明確內容的學習。主要學習以下三方面內容:
1、學習簡單易學的內容。
簡單的、學生通過自學能學會的內容會讓學生產生學習的欲望和興趣,太難的內容會讓學生產生畏懼心理,不利于自學習慣的培養。
2、復習與本課單詞有關聯的知識。
例如PEP教材六年級下冊Unit2 A Let?s learn中的單詞是有關疾病的,have a headache, have a cold,have a toothache等,針對新課單詞,我布置學生復習相關的單詞:頭、眼睛、耳朵、腿、口、牙齒、手、手臂、腳、鼻子、寒冷的、炎熱的、涼爽的、暖和的。
3、學習與舊知識有聯系的新知識。
與舊知有密切聯系的新知,學生學起來覺得輕松,會產生成就感。如:五年級下冊Unit 4 的單詞,reading a book,cooking dinner,doing the dishes,cleaning the room, 都是在舊單詞基礎上演變過來的。
教師可以根據教學內容、學生實際以及學生的思維特點,將“先學”內容編寫在《自學指南》里,指導學生“先學”?!蹲詫W指南》要有針對性、趣味性、可行性、可檢性,要能夠促進學生養成良好的自主自覺“先學”的習慣。
以PEP教材六年級下冊Unit2 What?s the matter? A Let?s learn為例,我讓學生在課前借助磁帶、光盤和課本里的中文翻譯來學習單詞。在《自學指南》中明確告訴學生學什么,如何學,即告訴學生聽P16 A Let?s learn錄音三次,并跟讀三次,在課本上寫出其中文意思,并復習與此相關的舊單詞。具體做法:自學指南在上新課的前一天分發給學生,布置學生按要求完成,強調完成自學指南比完成課后作業更重要。
(二)明確“先學”如何學
在課堂上,為了使學生真正投入到“先學”之中,達到學生易學、樂學的目的,方法大致如下:
1、遷移學習法:從舊知識中引出新知識,使新舊知識貫通、相互遷移。
如:ear-hear-near, pen-ten-hen, all-tall-ball-small 等等。這種以舊引新的方式,應該成為我們英語教學中單詞“先學”的突破口。
2、對比學習法:把新授單詞與舊單詞進行對比,比較其音、形、義。
例如:教四年級下冊《Unit6 A At a farm》A.Let's learn時,在每個新單詞的下面對應寫出與其有關系的舊單詞,讓學生先劃出新舊單詞的共同地方,然后小組討論,大膽嘗試讀出新單詞。sheep cow hen horse goat lamb(she)(how)(pen)(for)(boat)(lamp)利用將新舊單詞配對的方法,引導學生自己朗讀、體驗、思考、揣摩找出兩者之間的聯系,從而推斷出新單詞的發音,進一步引導學生了解字母組合在單詞中的發音規律。這種利用學生已有的知識結構去學習新單詞的方法,既能使知識結構不斷層,又能讓學生學習信心倍增。
3、分解學習法:這主要是根據單詞結構上的特點來分解單詞,學習其發音和意義,在學習較長單詞時可采用這種方法。如,在教五年級下冊《Unit6 A field trip》A.Let's learn時,讓學生小組合作,嘗試讀出單詞的發音,并說出你的朗讀方法。
catching butterflies experiment watching insects(cat but fly)(expensive)(watch)(in, set)學生在讀自己猜測出來的新單詞的讀音時,要允許學生讀錯,提倡學生大膽開口嘗試,引導他們推敲出單詞的正確發音。
4、競賽學習法:也就是在單詞學習中,采用如單詞接龍等方式,分組進行比賽,哪組說的單詞多,哪組就獲勝。這種學習方法用在復習課中特別有效。
如,在教六年級下冊Unit1形容詞的比較級時,我讓學生比賽說形容詞,看誰說出的形容詞最多。然后讓學生將所說出的形容詞改為比較級,讓他們自己歸納、總結出比較級的構成規則。在實行“先學后教”時,學習方法固然重要,學習方式也不能忽視,尤其要重視小組合作學習和學習小組的建設。學習小組中的成員最好是好、中、差生搭配,按座位就近編排。小組成員之間的合作是需要經常進行培訓的,小組編排好了就不要隨意調換。正如英語教育專家李靜純老師所說,學習小組就好比鳥兒搭建了一個窩,窩沒了就會影響小鳥的歌唱。
(三)明確“后教”怎么教
如果說課堂前的“先學”是要明確目標和任務,那么課堂中的“后教”則是需要“以學定教”了?!跋葘W后教”的“教”不是單純指講授的意思,應該是“點撥”的意思,是學生充分自學后,利用討論、質疑、交流等方式解決自學過程中暴露的問題,通過“兵教兵”方式和教師的“四兩撥千斤”的“點撥”,促進學生間的相互合作、相互幫助,加強教師與學生的互動。
針對以上分析,既然原因已經存在,且在短時間內無法改變現狀,那么老師確實需要好好思考,采取切實可行的方法及措施,較好地引導孩子有效地完成活動手冊。我認為可以從以下幾個方面入手:
1、抓住課堂時間,盡量面批。
教師任務重,不能布置大量的作業,否則會不能及時批改,但是二年級的孩子每周有四節英語課,因此老師可以盡量在課堂上練習書寫,這樣也方便老師進行面批,及時給孩子進行指導。
2、巧設練習,增加趣味性。
設計形式新穎的書寫練習(如搭配、改錯、替換等),會對學生產生很大的吸引力,就是最簡單的抄寫字母也要變換著方式,如按元音歸類抄、按大小寫字母分類抄。教師把“少而精”的練習奉獻給學生,學生自然不會產生畏懼的情緒和泛味的感覺。
3、滲透做題的“秘密武器”。
“秘密武器”即做題技巧,任何題型都存在一定的做題技巧,這樣說雖然顯得太“應試”,但是我們的孩子不可避免地都要接受卷面考試,因而滲透做題技巧是必要的,將這些技巧“秘密”化,更加能引起孩子的興趣,更加能引發孩子去思考。
如第四模塊活動一,聽音選詞填空,孩子們一開始聽就亂了“怎么辦啊,老師,寫不完,好快??!”我神秘地告訴他們“我有秘密武器!”孩子們興趣一下子來了,很認真地聽我的方法,于是比較順利地完成練習。以后每次遇到聽音寫詞,我就會問,你用了秘密武器嗎?遇到別的題,如看圖選詞填空,我也會引導孩子思考“這么多的單詞可以選,你有什么秘密武器嗎?”于是許多孩子逐漸在思考中潛移默化地掌握了做題技巧。
以上是我關于有效完成活動手冊的一些思考,教無定法,學也無定法,只要我們多思考,引導孩子多思考,很多枯燥的事情會變得有趣一些,希望孩子們在老師的引導下,能充滿興趣地有效地完成活動手冊,同時能將這些運用到別的學習當中,開心地、快樂地學習。
