Unit 8 When is your birthday?

一、教材分析

整個單元以談論“生日”為主線，將12個月份的名稱、序數詞的學習融入到一系列的小任務中，學生通過詢問對方的生日來完成一個最終的目標，即學會應用日期的表達方法。其中Section A 主要以When is your birthday?為線索，重點呈現日期的表達，包括12個月份的名稱及序數詞的學習。第二部分擴展到When is Nick's birthday? 繼續學習與鞏固日期的表達法，最后以“The Birthday Game”結束。所以A部分的教學設計以循序漸進的教學方法，兼顧了聽、說、讀、寫各種能力的培養，但重點放在聽和說上。Section B是在已有的基礎上拓展和延伸。如：When is the school trip? 同時從聽說訓練轉向讀寫能力的培養上。Self check是課后的自我檢測，首先是對本單元所學字匯的檢測，其次是文化知識的拓展，了解一些國內外名人的生日等。

二、教學目標

1、語言知識目標

a、掌握十二個月份的名稱、序數詞1到31的表達法、單詞date, happy, age, old, birthday, party, trip, art, festival, Chinese, music, year，了解speech, contest, how, old, basketball, game, volleyball, game, school day, year old及八個人名。b、熟練掌握并應用下列句型：

When is your birthday? My birthday is … / It’s …

When is Vera’s birthday? Vera’s birthday is … / It’s … 及擴展句型 How old are you? I am thirteen.2、能力目標

能用所學到的語言知識與實際生活結合起來，使學習過程生活化。

3、情感目標

培養學生積極主動的學習心理狀態，調動學習內驅力，通過兩人對話、小組活動、查詢一些名人的生日等一系列活動，培養學生的交際能力和學習主動性。

三、教學思路

1． 以問句When is your birthday?為線索引出單詞12個月份、序數詞（first ~thirty-first）的學習。

2． 通過pairwork、groupwork、writing等形式使學生熟練運用關于“日期”的問答。

T: There are 12 months in a year.They are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December.（逐個教學后，然后聽、跟讀 ,直到學生能流利地朗讀。）

生日除了講月外，還要有具體的幾號，我們已經學過基數詞one, two, three 到thirty-one。那么我們是否就用這些基數詞呢？No.我們還有把這些數詞稍微改變一下。然后引出序數詞的學習，教學日期的表達法。a.復習from one to thirty-one。

b.教學序數詞，再教學生幾句基數詞變序數詞的幾句口訣，以便學生記憶。基變序，有規律，第一、二、三單獨記。-th 從四加起，八去t來九去e。遇到ve, f替，-ty變為tie, 后跟-th莫遲疑。若想表示幾十幾，只變個位就可以。c.Listen and repeat 2a（Section A）d.Do some practice about the date e.Practice（每組派一個同學到黑板上寫出四個你喜歡的日期，然后讓另外小組的成員用英語說出你寫的日期，每個同學說一個，如果錯了，就讓同一組的同學糾正，看看哪一組同學能一次就說正確，那么就是獲勝者。）f.Ask and answer : When is your birthday? Teaching postscript: 1.這節課的詞匯容量比較大，12個月份的單詞也比較難記，對于基礎較薄弱的學生來說全部掌握有一定困難，但是假如他們記住了自己出身的月份，家人出身的月份及好朋友出身的月份，那么對于他們來說目的也就達到了。

2.我把1-31序數詞的學習也放在這節課里，因為基數詞1-31剛在前一個單元學過，所以對學生來說困難不會很大。

3.對學生來說在一節課內要把月、日流利的說正確可能回有一定的困難，主要是學生會經常把“日”的表達用基數詞。）

Teaching postscript: 1.這是這個單元的最后一課時，從前面所學的When is your birthday? 到這堂課要問到的When is the school trip ? 對學生來說接受起來是不難的。

2.至于3b里的這個對話Do you have ?? Yes, I do.No, I don’t.在Unit5已經學過，但有些學生會不是很熟練，通過對話也可以得到一次復習。

3.課后寫一寫自己或家人的一些情況，目的是把學的東西落實到筆頭，應用到實際生活，估計學生在書寫中還會出現一些書寫上的錯誤，如日期的書寫等。

【語法要點歸納】以單詞讀音為準，a用在發音的_______音前面，an用在發音的_______音前面。Explanation

一、this是指示代詞，意為“這；這個”，指近處或距說話人近的人或事物。that意為“那；那個”，指遠處或距說話人遠的人或事物。例如： This is a ruler.That is a key.二、in English意為“用英語”，其中in是介詞，表示“用語言、聲音、方式等”。如： in Chinese用漢語in Japanese用日語 What’s this in Chinese?這個用漢語怎么說？

三、冠詞a與an的用法

冠詞a和an是一種虛詞，只用在單數可數名詞前，表示“一”的意思。a用在以輔音音素開頭的單詞之前，an用在以元音音素開頭的單詞之前。這里的元音音素和輔音音素是指讀音，而不是指字母。如： a pen/pen/一支鋼筆/p/為輔音音素 an apple/?'?pl/一個蘋果/?/為元音音素

四、What’s this in English?這個用英語怎么說？

句型What’s this in English?意為“這個用英語怎么說？”用來詢問某物，回答時要用“Itis/It’sa(n)+名詞”，其中it用來指代this或that。what’s=what is,意為“是什么”。英語中用來提問的特殊疑問句總是放在句子的開頭，這一點與漢語不同，同學們要特別注意英語的語序。例如： —What’s this in English? 這個用英語怎么說？ —It’s a jacket.它是一件夾克衫。

—What’s that in English? 那個用英語怎么說？ —It’s an egg.那是一只雞蛋。

五、【辨析】字母/音標/音素

英語字母就如同我們漢語中的筆畫一樣，是拼寫單詞的組成元素。音素是英語語音的最小單位。

把音素記錄下來的符號叫音標，通常寫在//或[]里。【口訣】

冠詞a, an兩種帽，單數名詞常需要； 輔音單數a提前，元音單數an優先。

Step 2: Words reading

Ask them to turn to the page of words and read the new words after me.At the same time we will learn some expression of the new words and make sure they will get the simple idea of the words we are going to learn.鑒于學生的實際情況，單詞的學習并不能直接交給學生自己。大部分學生的自學能力較差。所以在課前先帶領學生消除發音障礙，增強他們在操練對話時的自信。也便于他們在新課內容當中熟悉生詞的意思。Step 3: Presentation

Step 1: Lead-in

First I will do some gesture to show some animals.The students try to guess what the animal is.After several ones I will write down some animals in Chinese on the paper and ask one of the students to do the gesture.以猜動物的方式讓學生參與到課堂當中，雖然最開始部分單詞無法用英語表達，但是會加入貓，狗之類的動物來降低難度。通過這個富有有趣味性的環節來引導即將接觸的新詞，讓學生產生對這節課新內容的探索欲望。Step 2: Words reading

Ask them to turn to the page of words and read the new words after me.At the same time we will learn some expression of the new words and make sure they will get the simple idea of the words we are going to learn.古老的方式不一定是呆板且死氣沉沉，可以用分組比賽練發音的方式來使跟讀單詞這一枯燥的過程變的豐富起來。鑒于學生的實際情況，單詞的學習并不能直接交給學生自己。大部分學生的自學能力較差。所以在課前先帶領學生消除發音障礙，增強他們在操練對話時的自信。也便于他們在新課內容當中熟悉生詞的意思。

Step 3: Presentation

Since we already learn the new words for a while, this time I will give them three minutes to finish the exercises in 1a.After that, I will point to the picture and tell them which one is my favorite and why.老師的角色扮演和語句操練，加上神情的詮釋，能讓學生更好地理解所聽到的句子的意思。比如，描述小動物的可愛和食肉動物的恐怖，以夸張的表情來表達自己不喜歡或者喜歡某種動物的原因。單詞熟悉之后先以口述的方式讓他們對即將接觸到的句子有所熟悉。加入favorite的用法，便于他們理解句子意思。并對because句型有進一步的復習。Step 4: Listening

Ask them to scan the exercise and predict what they will listen to.Then I will play the tape.The students listen to the tape and finish the listening exercise.Play the tape for twice to make sure they understand the meaning of the material.為了改善啞巴英語的狀況。口語和聽力是我們必須重點抓的環節。在聽力材料簡單的情況下可簡單要求學生在聽懂意思的同時把句子用自己的話語復述出來，若是難度比較大則一遍一遍精聽，確保他們理解內容并做到有所吸收。英語學習當中聽力訓練時必不可少的，重復放兩遍確保他們理解聽力材料。Step 5: Practice and pair work.Write the new words and key sentences on the board.Panda---Why do you like pandas? Because they are cute.Cute pandas Giraffe---Why do you like giraffes? Because they are beautiful.Beautiful giraffes Then ask some students to practice the dialogues.老師帶讀對話的同時讓學生糾正發音和語調。講述完畢之后，首先讓學生用書面的形式自己改寫并編制新的對話，提問時注意學生的情緒，要鼓勵他們勇敢開口，但不能強制逼迫害羞的學生，讓他們每次進步一些。對于成就較優秀的同學也要注意在表揚的同時指正他的不足，避免其盲目驕傲。通過句子的講述與操練，讓學生懂得這個特殊疑問句所表達的意思以及它的用法。特殊疑問詞為首，再加上一般疑問句，組成特殊疑問句。注意特殊疑問句的回答并不包含YES 和NO要按照實際情況來回答。另外此處講解，形容詞的表語和定語地位。Step 6: Sum up and Homework

This class we learnt some words about animals and how to express the reason why we like them or not.But there are still many other words about animals.Please try your best to find more.Ask them to find more words which can describe the animals.想要充分發揮學生自主學習的作用，老師就得利用好自己的指導作用，給學生指出可行的方向，提供稍微的輔助，讓他們完成一些力所能及的學習任務，不但可以更好地充實所學內容，還能讓他們培養獨立學習的良好習慣。所以，適當的課外作業是必須要有的。
