Nowadays, with the rapid development of science and technology, e-book, which is short for electronic book, is more and more popular among teenagers.Obviously, it is more convenient and various to read by e-book than to read books in the library. However, some people still go to the library when they need to read books or find some information. My cousin, who is a student in senior three, always go to the library to do homework or review what she has learn for preparing her college entrance exam. She says that she can focus on her study in library and also can search something helpful for her study. Some of my classmates go to the library in college to read books when they are free. They usually find books which they are interesting in and then enjoy the reading in the whole afternoon. And some friends always borrow some books which they need in their major because they can’t understand the knowledge in their lessons. Why is the library still necessary for people? In my opinions, the answer is obvious. The library can provide a quiet surrounding for people, which make them concentrate on their reading. Moreover, the library has some precious books, journals and videos for free, which they can’t search in the Internet or by the e-books.Therefore, the library can still exist.
Topic: Will E-books Replace Traditional Books?
The idea that E-books will replace traditional books is mistaken.Such is a universal assumption that old things such as traditional books should be cleared out to make way for the new, say E-books, which are products of rapidly developing information technology. But actually, traditional books, which are seemingly faced with a big challenge from advanced digital devices, are absolutely indispensable for creating civilization and recording history.Even with the advent of E-books, traditional books are still a treasure house of learning. There is no denying that thanks to the internet and electronic equipment, information is not only accessible, but intuitive and fun as well.On most occasions, we either read newspapers and magazines on E-books to get latest financial statistics, economic policies and market information used to make business decisions, or be absorbed in fictions, killing time. When people sincerely attempt to learn something, they invariably refer to traditionally printed books, which systematically record the achievements of human civilization, including philosophy, theology, literature and science.Traditional books spread knowledge while E-books provide information, and traditional books will never lose their value as knowledge will never be worthless. The reading habits also save traditional books.A great many people, especially the young, always go into raptures at the mere mention of new technology, yet few of them are able to quickly adjust to the change. Most people including myself, who are fond of reading, enjoy smelling the books, feeling the paper and hearing the sound of turning the pages.Nothing can be compared with a bright afternoon when the pages are turned along with breeze blowing, when the pastoral life in the fiction reflects in mind as the light of the setting sun glints on the trees. All such peace can hardly be associated with electronic screens.Reading traditional books is not a sense of nostalgia, but a
symbol of gentle pace of living. It is really hard to change people’s deep-rooted habit of reading books. As long as there still exists somebody who love knowledge and who enjoy quietness, traditional books will never be cleared out as wastes.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Do Libraries Become Useless at the Age of Information? You should write at least 120 words according to the outline given below in Chinese:
There has been a heated discussion about libraries at the age of information among people. Some people, especially the younger generation, challenge the value of conventional libraries. When they need any information in their studies or work, they can turn to their computers for help. For this reason, they do not need to go to a library for borrowing or returning one or two books. While others, including most old people as well as scholars, value libraries. They love libraries because they can enjoy peace and quietness in an isolated spiritual world. And they also have access to rare academic works needed for their studies in the libraries. In my view, conventional libraries are still available though there is still much room for improving. At the Age of Information, as long as knowledge is respected and cherished, libraries won’t extinct from our lives. On the other hand, libraries should not refuse the latest information technology, which will enable them to regain those young readers.
