許多小伙伴們往往會有這么一個共同特點，就是喜歡把“Oh My God”、“Oh Shit”、“What the F”等美劇中經常出現的高頻口語掛在嘴邊，其實在這些詞背后有著不少深層的文化隱喻，它們可不是張口就能用的。有很多時候當你為了顯示自己滔滔不絕的口語時，實際上可能已經在老外眼里被打上“不禮貌”甚至“傻×”的標簽了。。

Oh my God！——能不說就別說

大家會說英語了，難免時不時的來一句Oh my God，尤其是碰上什么讓我們驚訝、驚喜的事情時。比如說，一年前我離開家時門口正在修路，一年后我回去，居然看到同樣的人還在那里修路，我會情不自禁的自言自語：Oh my God！So slow！

自言自語還好，如果是對老外說那就要小心了，不是因為老外不喜歡我們說他慢，而是一部分老外不喜歡我們把他們信仰的God和那些完全不相干的事情聯系起來，而且對他直呼其名。

在英語世界，很多老外是不相信上帝的，而且，許多老外看不慣那些相信上帝的人。因此，一些不相信上帝的老外會把Oh my God掛在嘴邊，從而對上帝和相信他的人一并諷刺。

很多身在英語直接的中國人也不相信上帝，但是我想我應該配合那些信上帝的人捍衛其權利，所謂信仰自由。這就得從少用、慎用Oh my God做起。

不過少用、慎用的尺度很難把握，因為有時很難知悉周圍老外誰信上帝，誰不信上帝，誰半信不信，所以，要避免冒犯別人，對Oh my God最好是能避免。順便避用Oh my Jesus和Oh my Christ，因為都和上帝有關。

戒了Oh my God后，我們可以用Oh my Gosh和Oh my goodness作為替代，這樣既能表達我們的意思，又避免了對上帝及其信仰者的冒犯。

我之所以改口，是因為我說出Excuse me，mister！的一瞬間，就感覺自己說的是Excuse me，Mr。。！聽起來仿佛我知道那位先生的姓名，只是一時記不起來，奮力想說出但是還是沒說出的感覺。我想這也許是Mr不能單獨使用，不能單獨用來稱呼別人的原因。

我想重點說一下這個sir。這個詞很簡單，簡單到在香港找個不知道阿sir的人都難。我在讀初中的時候就知道Excuse me，sir！了。幾十年過去了，還在這里鉆牛角尖，實在是另有隱情。

在我的記憶中，我說Excuse me，sir！的效果大多數不理想。說不理想，是因為我隱約感到老外看我的眼神有點異樣，我嚴重懷疑那眼光中藏著一絲輕蔑。說來你可能不信，偏偏是我忘帶sir，只沖他們大喊一聲Excuse me！的時候，反而覺得能使他們立刻止步并殷勤的問我：Can I help you？

至此，我對sir的效果已經抱有懷疑態度。有兩個老外，使我的懷疑有了突破。這兩人的身份均是推銷員，談話中sir不絕口，不顧及我臉上尷尬的表情。

這讓我想起我在路上大喊：Excuse me，sir！的時候，對方會不冷不淡的原因是因為他們把我當推銷員了？

說道sir，我們自然回想到Yes sir！在真實的會話情景中，這句話也已經很少用了。老外現在用這句話時多帶有諷刺、調侃、開玩笑之意。比如：五歲的小男孩不讓爸爸看書了，爸爸會說Yes sir！，然后報之一笑。

不過，在很多情況下，比如商業、服務業及其他較為正式的場合，除非對方另有建議，通常還是要用正式稱呼的。

懂YES和NO，會說YES和NO，是在英語學習中一個不小的進步。

我曾經一度聽不懂YES和NO。說聽不懂，當然不是渾然不知，而是指一時聽不懂，沒有及時反映過來YES和NO所知的到底是肯定還是否定。在和老外說話是，也常常在該說YES的時候說NO，在該說NO的時候說YES。
