想不想出去吃呢?

有次我問老美出去吃東西怎么說, 他回答說一般出去吃飯, 他們只說 go to eat , go out eating 或是 eat out 而不會說 go to dinner, go for lunch, 也就是不需特地說中餐或是晚餐.所以后來老美問我剛?cè)ツ牧? 我應(yīng)該要說 I just went out eating, 而不會說 I just went to dinner.如果要強(qiáng)調(diào)是去吃午餐或晚餐的話, 一般就直接說 lunch 或是 dinner.例如人家問你, “Where did you go?” 你就可以答說 “l(fā)unch.”

那里有一家 Deli(餐廳), 你喜不喜歡呢?

美國的餐廳可分很多種, Restaurant 是一般的通稱, 另外常用到的有 Deli : 供應(yīng)三明治, 沙拉這種現(xiàn)成的, 不需再經(jīng)過烹調(diào)的餐廳, 例如 SUBWAY 就可以算是 Deli.另外還有 Grill 也隨處可見, 翻譯成烤肉餐廳, 多半是提供牛排, 漢堡熱食類的食物.Deli 這個字是 delicatessen 的簡寫, 可是現(xiàn)今在美國一般只會聽到 deli 而很少聽到 delicatessen 了!

3.What do you like to drink?

想要喝什么?

美國餐廳的習(xí)慣, 吃飯時都會點(diǎn)一大杯飲料, 所以侍者一定會先問你 What do you like to drink.也有人會這么說, Can I get you something to drink?.一般餐廳都會提供的有 Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Iced Tea, 以及 Lemonade 等.如果什么都不要, 就說 Just water.值得注意的是, 在一般的速食店提到 drink 都是指 soft drink 而言.但是一般人說到 have a drink 時, 他們多半指的是 alcoholic, 也就是含酒精的飲料.所以如果有人問你, “Come on, have a drink with us.” 他絕不是要你跟他們一起喝可樂的意思, 而是要你跟他們一起喝酒啦!

4.Are you ready to order or just a minute?

你們準(zhǔn)備好了嗎? 還是要再等一會?

通常飲料上桌之后, 大伙都還要花點(diǎn)時間研究一下菜單, 如果侍者看你們大概都差不多了, 他就會過來問你們, Are you ready to order or just a minute?

如果是已經(jīng)準(zhǔn)備好要點(diǎn)餐了, 就直接跟她說你想吃什么, 如果大家還要再研究研究, 則可以跟侍者說

Just a minute.或是 Wait a few more minutes.請他等一下, 他會說 OK.I'll be back.(好, 那我等下再來.)

5.Do you want to separate check?

你們要不要分開付帳?

比如說二對夫妻出去吃飯, 大家想各自付自己的, 則你們可以主動跟侍者說We want to separate check.有時他們也會主動問你, Do you want to separate check? 或是Do you want separate checks? 這樣的話帳單就會有二張.但有些餐廳 separate check 會多收服務(wù)費(fèi), 最好先問清楚.如果是要一起付, 則簡單地說, together 或是 one check 就可以了.//////// 如何用英語點(diǎn)菜？

點(diǎn)菜有兩種方式，一是a la carte（隨意點(diǎn)菜），一是tabled' hote或fixed price meal（份飯，套餐），后一種有幾道固定的菜肴和飲料，價格也是固定的。它的優(yōu)點(diǎn)就是方便快捷，點(diǎn)菜時只需指著菜單說： Please give me this one.（請給我來這個。）

We want two number eights, please.（我們要四份第八套餐。）在點(diǎn)菜之前，一般先要份菜單： May I have a menu, please?（我可以看菜單嗎？）

如果不急于點(diǎn)菜，可以在服務(wù)生問到： Can I take your order now?（你現(xiàn)在叫點(diǎn)什么嗎？）回答：

在西餐廳就餐，菜單一般由三類不同的菜別組成。the first course或者starters是指第一道菜，往往是湯、一小碟色拉或其它小吃。第二道菜是主菜，fish and chips是魚和炸土豆條，它同―roast beef and york shir pudding——牛肉布丁‖、―shepherd spie——牧羊人的餡餅‖一樣，都是典型的英國傳統(tǒng)菜肴。最后一道是甜食——或冷或熱，但都是甜的。西方飲食習(xí)慣是先吃咸的，后吃甜的。西餐菜單名目繁多，有時不易讀懂。遇到這種情況，可以請服務(wù)員解釋一下。
