Dear Hanna,

Recently I have noticed that you have been smoking heavily, which is becoming a serious problem. As long as you are in, our bedroom is filled with that terrible smell. The ashtray always overflows with cigarette butts.

Your are ruining your health, destroying brain cells which can never be replaced, not to mention the damage to your lungs and windpipes. Smoking, especially heavy smoking, correlates highly with lung cancer. It is possible that you'll be caught up with it. I'm not scaring you. Besides, smoking is also harmful to the health of our roommates and the friendship among us. The roommates avoid being in the bedroom for fear of being polluted. As a result, the brotherhood among roommates is gradually fading.

If I were you, I would try to get rid of the bad habit. It is not difficult to break away from it if you are really determined to quit. Remember 'Where there is a will, there is a way'. I will always be there to help, if you need.

英文信件格式

英語(yǔ)書(shū)信結(jié)構(gòu)一般有以下幾個(gè)部分組成:

1)信封(envelope)。英語(yǔ)的信封和中文的一樣，有三部分組成，即發(fā)信人地址、收信人地址和郵票。只不過(guò)英語(yǔ)信封的格式除了郵票所貼的位置(信封的右上角)和中文的一樣外，英語(yǔ)信封上要寫(xiě)的發(fā)信人和收信人的地址和中文的大不一樣。發(fā)信人的地址應(yīng)寫(xiě)在信封的左上角，收信人的.地址應(yīng)寫(xiě)在信封偏中右偏下處，如下:

2)信頭 (heading)，即寫(xiě)發(fā)信人的地址和日期(右上角)。

3)信內(nèi)姓名地址 (inside address)，即寫(xiě)收信人的姓名和地址(左上角)。

4) 稱呼 (salutation)，即寫(xiě)對(duì)收信人的尊稱(一般用Dear Mr. … ,; Dear Madam Helen,; Dear Miss…,; Dear John,; Dear Professor Smith,等)。稱呼直接寫(xiě)在收信人地址的正下方，中間空一至二行。稱呼后面的標(biāo)點(diǎn)一般只能用逗號(hào)。以上信頭、信內(nèi)姓名和地址三部分的結(jié)構(gòu)如下:

注:如果是相當(dāng)熟悉和隨便的朋友之間，因?yàn)楸舜硕贾缹?duì)方的地址，故信頭和信內(nèi)的地址常常省略。

5)正文 (body)，即信件內(nèi)的主要內(nèi)容。正文第一句句子一般和稱呼之間空一至二行。

6)信尾客套語(yǔ) (complimentary close)，即寫(xiě)信人在信的右(或左)下角，寫(xiě)上表示自己對(duì)收信人一種禮貌客氣的謙稱。一般有Sincerely,; Sincerely yours,; Yours sincerely,; Friendlyyours,; Truly yours,; Yours truly,; Cordially yours,; Yours cordially,等。

7)信尾簽名 (signature)，即親筆簽上寫(xiě)信人自己的姓名。如果是用打字機(jī)或電腦寫(xiě)的信，在寫(xiě)信人簽名的上方，同樣應(yīng)該打上寫(xiě)信人的姓名。

除以上七個(gè)部分外，有時(shí)一些英語(yǔ)書(shū)信還包括:(1)附件 (Enclosure)，以Enc. 表示，如“附有*8證明”應(yīng)寫(xiě)為Enc…Certificate;(2)再啟 (Postscript)，以P.S. 表示;(3)抄送件(Carbon Copy to…)，以c.c. 表示，說(shuō)明一式多份抄送其他有關(guān)人員。這些都是次要的補(bǔ)充部分。
