本禮貌。英文的說法就是：May I use the bathroom？

bathroom這個字是指私人地方的衛生間。公眾地方的衛生間是restroom。比如你在一些公眾場所，如商

場、戲院，想問別人衛生間在哪時，應該問：Can you direct me to the restroom？

bathroom除了可以說為restroom之外，也可以叫toilet或者washroom。在英國的道路交匯處通常設有洗手間，他們的叫法是：public convenience或者叫toliet。在美國的一些公眾衛生間，他們叫comfort station。

原來衛生間都有這么大的學問，難怪國際會議也要公開討論這個問題。

到了中午的時候，同事出去吃午飯。如果你也想跟他一起去，就可以問他們：May I join you？

反過來說，如果你自己去吃午飯，想叫你的同事一起去，可以問他們：I'm going out to lunch.Would you like

to join me？在現實生活中，我們很喜歡結伴同行，以下就是一個非常好的例子。

想問別人是否能一起去，除了用：May I join you？之外還有一句就是：Would you mind if I join you？男士

們應該記住這一句，因為這一句是一個借口可以幫助你接近你心儀的女孩。

我看過一個巧克力廣告，男孩為了哄女朋友開心，偷偷買了一盒巧克力，然后去她家送給她，女孩看到后

感動的流淚。

現實生活中我們不會這么做，我們去別人家之前必然先打個電話給對方，問對方是否同意。如果你想問別人，是否能去對方所在的地方見他時，英文說法是：Can I come and see you？如果你想馬上就去見他時，可以問：Can I come and see you now？

大家要注意一點，當我們說要去別人家玩的時候，我們是用come不是用go,因為如果用go這個字就是錯

了，比如說我想去你家玩，英文說法是：I come and see you。

當我們需要別人的幫助，我們只要有禮貌的提出來，相信對方有能力的都會幫助你。

如果想問別人能否幫個忙。英文說法是：May I ask a favor of you？這是一個比較有禮貌的說法，另一個說法是：Would you do me a favor？又或者是：Would youmind helping me？如果是熟悉的朋友，可以說

得簡單一些，例如：Will you do me a favor？又或者：Do me a favor，will you？

當你覺得很煩惱，很需要他人的幫助時，也可以說：I need your help very badly。如果別人幫了你個大忙

后，你可以跟對方說：You're my lifesaver。意思就是你是我的救命恩人。

當別人跟我們說了一些事，讓我們很難相信時，我們可以跟對方說你一定是開玩笑的。英文說法是：You

must be kidding！kid這個字原來意思是小孩，但在這個句子里的意思是開玩笑。

簡單的說法是：You kidding！或者是：No kidding！我們也可以用joking這個字來代替，整個句子就會變

成：You must be joking！或者再簡單的說法是：It's incredible?；蛘呤牵篒t's unbelievable。

如果別人不相信你說的話時，你可以說：No,I'm serious。意思是：不是，我是認真的。特別是男士們要好好記住這句話，因為當你向你女朋友求婚時，女朋友可能會對你說：You must be kidding！而你可以很認

真的對她說：No,I'm serious。

當一個人遇到不開心的事或者不幸的事時，令他悶悶不樂或者很傷心難過，在這個時候他最需要的是一些

安慰的話。

一些很簡單的安慰話語會對他們產生巨大的作用，如英文的說法是：I know how you feel。我知道你的感受。如果對方是比較熟悉的朋友，你可以說：I feel for you。接著你也可以對他說：If there is anything I can

do for you,please let me know。如果有什么我能幫忙，不妨告訴我。

難怪主人公這么不開心，她不見了狗。當聽到別人不開心的事，或者是些不幸的事時，我們可以說：I'm sorry

to hear that。很抱歉聽到這樣的消息?；蛘呖梢哉f：That's too bad。真的太不走運了。如果在后面再加一

句：I know how you feel。會給對方一個很大的安慰。

當別人向我們提出邀請，例如請我聽音樂會，我們都會欣然接受。英文說法就是：Thank you.I'd like to.意

思是很感謝你，我很樂意。

I'd like to之后其實是省略了內容，原來的意思應該是Thank you.I'd like to go to the concert。很感謝你，我很樂意去這個音樂會。其實還有別的說法，簡單些的說法是：Thank you.I would.或者是：Yes,I would.或者是：Yes,withpleasure.在剛才的短劇中，主人公接受朋友的邀請出席他們的晚會，他說Thank you.I'd like to very much.她為了加強語氣所以在I'd like to后加上very much這兩個字。除了用Thank you.I'd like to.之外也可以對別人說With

pleasure.意思都是一樣的。

當別人想請你去一個晚會或者活動時，但因為沒時間或者其它原因無法出席，你可以對別人說：Thank you

for asking me.中文意思是很感謝你的邀請。

如果雙方的電話中對話時，可以對對方說：Thank you for calling.以下短劇中，主人公拒絕了別人的邀請，大家一起看看為什么。

考試當然比晚會重要，難怪主人公拒絕對方的邀請不去晚會，如果想說一些話打圓場，也可以說：Well,thank you for asking me andway and please ask me again.意思是無論如何，很感謝你的邀請，希望你再次邀請

我。

記住了，下次異性約會你，而你又不想去時，你就可以對他說：Thank you for asking me.chapter.9

我們平時吃飯的時候，可能不太講究Table Manner。就是餐桌禮儀。

如果跟外國人一起吃飯時，可就不行了。因為對他們來說，Table Manner是非常重要的，例如吃飯的時候，你想拿桌面上比較遠的東西時千萬不要趴在桌子上自己伸手去拿，你可以叫別人幫忙遞給你，例如你想拿

鹽時，你可以說：Please pass the salt。

或者有禮貌的說法是：Would you pass the salt,please?或者是：Would you mind passing the salt?

Would you pass the salt？如果將salt這個字變成salad，意思就會變成是否能將沙拉遞給你？其實這個句

式應用范圍很廣，如果換上不同的字就會變不同的意思。

中國人交朋友之道都是講求你來我往，有時我們一起到餐廳吃飯，可能大家為了爭著付帳而糾纏了很久，直到一方放棄了，可能就會說：如果你堅持的，那我就不客氣了。英文也有這樣的說法，就是：If you insist。

主人公要請客人吃飯，客人對主人公說：If you insist。

有一點要注意的是，If you insist這句話只適用于別人邀請你的時候，千萬不要在別人有求于你時用。否則

意思就不一樣了。

放飛機這三個字我想不用說大家也知道是什么意思了，意思就是約了某人在某個時間某個地點見面，而你

沒有到場。

其實這樣是很沒有禮貌的，如果你真的沒時間去不了，可以先行通知對方。英文說法是：I'm afraid I won't

be able to come.意思是：對不起，我無法按時到達。

剛才的電話中Fiona說：I'm afraid I won't be able to come.她是用come而不是用go，是因為她想告訴對方：對不起，我不能來了。如果大家約在一起去某個地方時，她就可以說I'm afraid I won't be able to go.對不起，我不能跟你一起去了。

在之前的節目中跟大家說過，如果我們不能赴約，英文的說法是：I'm afraid I won't be able to come.如果

大家認為這句話不夠好。

想說得再好一些，例如說下次再約吧。英文說法是：Let's make it some other time.或者說：I'll take a rain check on it.rain check這個字意思是雨天換票證，當一些表演或者比賽因為下雨的關系要延遲，主辦方會

發給你證件讓你下次再去看，其實意思都是下次再一起去吧。

Let's make it some other time，通常男孩吃檸檬的時候都會聽到女孩說Let's make it some other time，下

次有機會吧。

當你心煩的時候，一些朋友可能一片好意過來開解你，但你可能會覺得更煩，在這時你雖然明白別人對你的好意，但是你想選擇自己一個人冷靜一下，這時可以說請你不要理我，英文是：Please leave me alone.除了Please leave me alone之外也可以說Would you leave me alone？說這句話的時候要特別注意語氣，如果will字加重了語氣就會變成真羅嗦，請你不要煩我。

所以另一種說法是：Please give me some space.就是請給我一些空間。

chapter.14

現在有很多地方都嚴禁吸煙，如果你想抽煙，而身邊又有人的時候，你應該先征求其他人同意，否則會令

別人不高興。

當你問別人是否介意你抽煙時，可以問：May I smoke？或者是：Do you mind if I smoke？意思是你是否介意我抽煙？如果別人這樣問你，而你又不介意，無所謂，你可以回答：No,not at all。意思就是我不介意。

英美等國的人不能在用餐的時候抽煙，因為這樣做對他們來說是很沒有禮貌的，所以下次如果有外國人請

你吃飯的時候，你想抽煙就應該先征求對方的同意，否則別人會覺得你很沒有禮貌。
