2.1 源于浴蘭節(jié)說 古人五月采摘蘭草盛行以蘭草湯沐浴、除毒之俗。《大戴禮記?夏小正》“五月……煮梅為豆實(shí)也蓄蘭為沐浴也。”屈原《九歌?云中君》“浴蘭湯兮沐芳華采衣兮若英。”南朝梁人宗懔《荊楚歲時(shí)記》云“五月五日謂之浴蘭節(jié)。”此俗流傳至唐宋時(shí)代又稱端午為浴蘭之月。

《大戴禮記》為漢文帝時(shí)禮學(xué)名家戴德選編的是研究上古社會(huì)的珍貴資料。如果此說成立端午節(jié)在先秦時(shí)代已出現(xiàn)迄今歷時(shí)二千余年可謂淵遠(yuǎn)流長(zhǎng)。[3] 2.2 “惡日”說

端午

漢代人認(rèn)為五月五日為惡月、惡日且有“不舉五月子”之俗即五月五日所生的嬰兒無論是男或是女都不能撫養(yǎng)成人。一旦撫養(yǎng)則男害父、女害母。甚至出現(xiàn)了“五月到官至免不遷”“五月蓋屋令人頭禿”等說法。這一習(xí)俗至遲從戰(zhàn)國開始流行迄至漢代盛行不衰。此俗在漢人王充的《論衡》、應(yīng)劭《風(fēng)俗通》以及《后漢書》中多有記載。

《史記·孟嘗君列傳》記歷史上有名的孟嘗君在五月五日出生。其父要其母不要生下他認(rèn)為“五月子者長(zhǎng)于戶齊將不利其父母。” 《風(fēng)俗通》佚文“俗說五月五日生子男害父女害母”。

《論衡》的作者王充也記述“諱舉正月、五月子以正月、五月子殺父與母不得舉也。”東晉大將王鎮(zhèn)惡五月初五生其祖父便給他取名為“鎮(zhèn)惡”。宋徽宗趙佶五月初五生從小寄養(yǎng)在宮外。可見古代以五月初五為惡日是普遍現(xiàn)象。可見從先秦以后此日均為不吉之日。這樣在此日插菖蒲、艾葉以驅(qū)鬼薰蒼術(shù)、白芷和喝雄黃酒以避疫就是順理成章的事。并且人們還避“端五”忌諱稱之為“端午”。

2.3 追念歷史人物說 紀(jì)念屈原 屈原 傳說端午節(jié)是為了紀(jì)念戰(zhàn)國時(shí)代楚國詩人屈原,他在五月初五這天投汨羅江自盡殉國。屈平字原通常稱為屈原又自云名正則號(hào)靈均漢族戰(zhàn)國末期楚國丹陽今湖北秭歸人楚武王熊通之子屈瑕的后代。屈原雖忠事楚懷王,卻屢遭排擠。懷王死后又因頃襄王聽信讒言而被流放最終投汨羅江而死。此說最早出自南朝梁代吳均《續(xù)齊諧記》和南朝宗懔《荊楚歲時(shí)記》。據(jù)說屈原投汨羅江后當(dāng)?shù)匕傩章動(dòng)嶑R上劃船撈救一直行至洞庭湖始終不見屈原的尸體。

伍子胥 春秋時(shí)吳國忠臣伍子胥含冤而死之后化為濤神世人哀而祭之故有端午節(jié)。這則傳說在江浙一帶流傳很廣。伍子胥名員楚國人父兄均為楚王所殺后來子胥投奔吳國帶吳伐楚五戰(zhàn)五勝攻破楚都郢城。當(dāng)時(shí)楚平王已死子胥掘墓鞭尸三百以報(bào)殺父兄之仇。吳王闔閭死后其孫夫差繼位吳軍士氣高昂百戰(zhàn)百勝越國大敗越王勾踐請(qǐng)和夫差許之。伍子胥建議應(yīng)徹底消滅越國夫差不聽吳國太守受越國賄賂讒言陷害子胥夫差信之賜子胥寶劍子胥以此死。子胥本為忠良視死如歸在死前對(duì)鄰舍人說“我死后將我眼睛挖出懸掛在吳都之東門上以看越國軍隊(duì)入城滅吳”便自刎而死夫差聞言大怒令取子胥之尸體裝在皮革里于五月五日投入大江因此相傳端午節(jié)亦為紀(jì)念伍子胥之日。

紀(jì)念孝女曹娥 此說出自東漢《曹娥碑》。曹娥是東漢上虞人父親溺于江中數(shù)日不見尸體當(dāng)時(shí)孝女曹娥年僅十四歲晝夜沿江號(hào)哭。過了十七天在五月五日投江五日后抱出父尸。

2.4 祭祀龍圖騰說

圖騰 龍 這種說法來自聞一多的《端午考》和《端午的歷史教育》。他認(rèn)為五月初五是古代吳越地區(qū)

“龍”的部落舉行圖騰祭祀的日子。其主要理由是 一端午節(jié)兩個(gè)最主要的活動(dòng)吃粽子和競(jìng)渡都與龍相關(guān)。粽子投入水里常被蛟龍所竊而競(jìng)渡則用的是龍舟。

二競(jìng)渡與古代吳越地方的關(guān)系尤深況且吳越百姓還有斷發(fā)紋身“以像龍子”的習(xí)俗。

三古代五月初五日有用“五彩絲系臂”的民間風(fēng)俗這應(yīng)當(dāng)是“像龍子”的紋身習(xí)俗的遺跡。

2.5 源于夏至說

夏至

首倡夏至說者為黃石先生年他在《端午禮俗史》香港秦興書局年出版一書中提出端午節(jié)如涓涓之水發(fā)源于遠(yuǎn)古時(shí)代三代匯為川流秦漢擴(kuò)為河唐宋納百川而成湖海。

端午節(jié)源于夏至說聞世后學(xué)者吞吐百家從更廣泛的視野去研究。年劉德謙先生在《端午始源又一說》《文史知識(shí)》年期中認(rèn)為端午來自夏、商、周時(shí)期的夏至且提出端午節(jié)中“斗百草”、“采雜藥”等與屈原無關(guān)。年月在韓國首爾舉辦的國際學(xué)術(shù)會(huì)上中國社科院民族學(xué)人類學(xué)研究所研究員何星亮先生再度完善了夏至說又提出端午節(jié)即夏至令人耳目一新。[3] 劉德謙在《“端午”始源又一說》和《中國傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日趣談》中提出三個(gè)主要理由(一)權(quán)威性的歲時(shí)著作《荊楚歲時(shí)記》并未提到五月初五日要吃粽子的節(jié)日風(fēng)俗卻把吃粽子寫在夏至節(jié)中。至于競(jìng)渡隋代杜臺(tái)卿所作的《玉燭寶典》把它劃入夏至日的娛樂活動(dòng)可見不一定就是為了打撈投江的偉大詩人屈原。(二)端午節(jié)風(fēng)俗中的一些內(nèi)容如“踏百草”、“斗百草”、“采雜藥”等實(shí)際上與屈原無關(guān)。

(三)《歲時(shí)風(fēng)物華紀(jì)麗》對(duì)端午節(jié)的第一個(gè)解釋是“日葉正陽時(shí)當(dāng)中即端午節(jié)正是夏季之中故端午節(jié)又可稱為天中節(jié)。由此端午節(jié)的最早起源當(dāng)系夏至。而眾多說法中以紀(jì)念屈原說影響最為廣泛。由于屈原的人格藝超群人們也愿意把這一紀(jì)念日歸之于他。

2.6 端午十說

蔡邕 一說認(rèn)為端午節(jié)是龍的節(jié)日。聞一多先生《端午考》考證端午節(jié)是古代吳越民間舉行圖騰祭的節(jié)日認(rèn)為端午節(jié)實(shí)際上是一個(gè)龍的節(jié)日。

二說認(rèn)為端午節(jié)是紀(jì)念楚國愛國詩人屈原逝世。據(jù)《續(xù)齊諧記》記述屈原在五月初五投汨羅江而死楚人哀之每逢此日以竹筒盛米投江祭之。

三說是據(jù)《禮記》載端午源于周代的蓄蘭沐浴。

四說認(rèn)為據(jù)東漢時(shí)期蔡邕《琴操》中載端午節(jié)系為紀(jì)念先賢介子推。

五說認(rèn)為宋代高承《事物紀(jì)源》刊文端午源于春秋時(shí)期越王勾踐于是日操練水軍。

六說認(rèn)為梁宗懔《荊州歲時(shí)記》轉(zhuǎn)述端午是為迎“濤神”伍子胥。《后漢書》中也寫道浙江虞巫上祝曹盱五月初五在曹娥江上婆娑起舞迎接伍子胥。后來江浙一帶百姓每逢端午逆流而上舉行各種儀式以悼念伍子胥。

七說認(rèn)為在《道書》中載有五月初五是為祭祀先祖日。

八說是據(jù)《會(huì)稽典錄》一書記載端午是為紀(jì)念尋父投江而死的曹娥。

九說認(rèn)為端午起源于夏、商、周時(shí)期的夏至節(jié)。其時(shí)仲夏之日萬物方盛夏至日陰氣蔭生恐物不懋故在五月初五以五色印為門戶飾以懲惡氣。

十說是民間有一傳說認(rèn)為端午源于湖北沔陽沙湖曾有四位豪杰專門劫富濟(jì)貧后遭當(dāng)?shù)毓俦灰u圍困而于五月初五投江而亡。當(dāng)?shù)孛癖娙f分悲哀將這一天定為端午節(jié)以示悼念。[4] 3 端午習(xí)俗 3.1 龍舟競(jìng)渡

端午節(jié) 龍舟一詞,最早見于先秦古書《穆天子傳》卷五:“天子乘鳥舟、龍舟浮于大沼。”預(yù)《九歌·湘君》中“駕飛龍今北征,邅吾道兮洞庭”,“石瀨淺淺,飛龍兮翩翩”,學(xué)者們也認(rèn)為“飛龍”即龍舟。《湘君》即描寫湘人馭駕龍舟,將玉佩沉入江中(與拋蹤子入江相仿)悼念某位歷史人物之詩。這即與“魂舟”暗合,與楚國《人物御龍帛畫》之像暗合,可互為印證。

《荊楚歲時(shí)記》載:“五月五日,謂之浴蘭節(jié)。…… 是日,競(jìng)渡,競(jìng)采雜藥。”此后,歷代詩賦、筆記、志書 等記載競(jìng)渡就數(shù)不勝數(shù)了。

龍舟,與普通船只不太相同,大小不一,橈手人數(shù)不一。如廣州黃埔、郊區(qū)一帶龍船,長(zhǎng)33 米,路上有 100 人,橈手約 80 人。南寧龍舟長(zhǎng) 20 多米,每船約五六十人。湖南汨羅縣龍舟則長(zhǎng) 16—22 米,撓手 24—48 人。福建福州龍舟長(zhǎng) 18 米,撓手 32 人。龍船一般是狹長(zhǎng)、細(xì)窄,船頭飾龍頭,船尾飾龍尾。龍頭的顏色有紅、黑、灰等色,均與龍燈之頭相似,姿態(tài)不一。一般以木雕成,加以彩繪(也有用紙?jiān)⒓喸模}埼捕嘤谜镜瘢峡眺[甲。除龍頭龍尾外,龍舟上還有鑼鼓、旗幟或船體繪畫等裝飾。如廣東順德龍舟上飾以龍牌、龍頭龍尾旗、帥旗,上繡對(duì)聯(lián)、花草等,還有繡滿龍風(fēng)、八仙等圖案的羅傘。一般龍舟沒有這么多的裝飾,多飾以各色三角旗、掛彩等。古代龍舟也很華麗,如畫龍舟競(jìng)渡的《龍池競(jìng)渡圖卷》(元人王振鵬所繪),圖中龍舟的龍頭高昂,碩大有神,雕鏤精美,龍尾高卷,龍身還有數(shù)層重檐樓閣。如果是寫實(shí)的,則可證古代龍船之精麗了。又如《點(diǎn)石齋畫報(bào)·追蹤屈子》繪蕪湖龍船,也是龍頭高昂,上有層樓。有的地區(qū)龍舟還存有古風(fēng),很精麗。

龍舟 龍船競(jìng)渡前,先要請(qǐng)龍、祭神。如廣東龍舟,在端午前要從水下起出,祭過在南海神廟中的南海神后,安上龍頭、龍尾,再準(zhǔn)備競(jìng)渡。并且買一對(duì)紙制小公雞置龍船上,認(rèn)為可保佑船平安(隱隱可與古代鳥舟相對(duì)應(yīng))。閩、臺(tái)則往媽祖廟祭拜。有的直接在河邊祭龍頭,殺雞滴血于龍頭之上,如四川、貴州等個(gè)別地區(qū)。

而湖南汨羅縣,競(jìng)渡前必先往屈子祠朝廟,將龍頭供在詞中神翁祭拜,披紅布于龍頭上,再安龍頭于船上競(jìng)渡,既拜龍神,又紀(jì)念屈原。而在湖北的屈原家鄉(xiāng)秭歸,也有祭拜屈原的儀式流傳。祭屈原之俗,在《隋書·地理志》中有記載:“其迅楫齊馳,棹歌亂響,喧振水陸,觀者如云。”唐劉禹錫《競(jìng)渡曲》自注:“競(jìng)渡始于武陵,及今舉楫而相和之,其音咸呼云:‘何在’,斯沼屈之義。”可見兩湖地區(qū),祭屈原與賽龍舟是緊密相關(guān)的。可能屈原(及曹娥、伍子胥等)逝去后,當(dāng)?shù)厝嗣褚苍曛鬯推潇`魂歸葬,故有此俗。

龍舟競(jìng)渡 又如浙江地區(qū),是以龍舟競(jìng)渡紀(jì)念曹娥。《后漢書·列女傳》中載,曹娥是投江死去的,民間則傳說她下江尋找父尸。浙江地區(qū)多祭祀之,《點(diǎn)石齋畫報(bào)·虔祀曹娥》即描繪會(huì)稽地區(qū)人民祭祀曹娥之景象。

《清嘉錄》中記吳地(江蘇一帶)競(jìng)渡,是源于紀(jì)念伍子胥,蘇州因此有端午祭伍子胥之舊習(xí),并于水上舉行競(jìng)渡以示紀(jì)念。另外還有廣西的紀(jì)念馬援、福州的紀(jì)念閻王王審知等儀式。

各種祭祀、紀(jì)念之儀式,無非是點(diǎn)香燭,燒紙錢,供以雞、米、肉、供果、粽子等。如今這些含有迷信色彩朗儀式已很少見,但在過去,人們祭祀龍神廟時(shí)氣氛很嚴(yán)肅,多祈求農(nóng)業(yè)豐收、風(fēng)調(diào)雨順、去邪祟、攘災(zāi)異、事事如意,也保佑劃船平安。用人們的話說,“圖個(gè)吉利”,表達(dá)人們內(nèi)心良好的愿望。

在正式競(jìng)渡開始時(shí),氣氛十分熱烈。唐代詩人張建封《競(jìng)渡歌》:“……兩岸羅衣?lián)浔窍悖y釵照日如霜刃。鼓聲三下紅旗開;兩龍躍出浮水來。棹影斡波飛萬劍,鼓聲劈浪鳴千雷。鼓聲漸急標(biāo)將近,兩龍望標(biāo)且如瞬。坡上人呼霹雷驚,竿頭彩掛虹霓暈。前船搶水已得標(biāo),后

船失勢(shì)空揮撓。……”這些詩句淋漓盡致地寫出了龍舟競(jìng)渡的壯景。婦女們平時(shí)是不出門的,如今也爭(zhēng)著來看龍船,銀釵耀日;鼓聲、紅旗指揮下的龍舟飛馳而來,掉如飛劍,鼓聲如雷;終點(diǎn)插著錦綺彩竿,作為標(biāo)志。龍舟向著標(biāo)飛快地馳近……近代的龍舟比賽也大抵相同,不過規(guī)程稍嚴(yán)格一些。近年來,國內(nèi)外都出現(xiàn)了國際龍舟比賽,吸引了各國健兒。

龍舟競(jìng)渡 除了比賽速度外,劃龍舟還有其他一些活動(dòng)。比如龍舟游鄉(xiāng),是在龍舟競(jìng)渡時(shí)劃著龍舟到附近熟悉的村莊游玩、集會(huì)。有時(shí)龍舟還有各種花樣的劃法,具有表演的含義。如廣州的龍舟,挽手用槳葉插入水中,再往上挑,使水花飛濺;船頭船尾的人則有節(jié)奏地頓足壓船,使龍舟起伏如游龍戲水一般。浙江余杭縣龍舟,有的是讓人把龍尾踩低,使龍頭高翹,船頭的急浪便從龍嘴中噴吐出來,如龍吞云吐雨一般。

也有的是游船式競(jìng)渡。如《淮南子·本經(jīng)訓(xùn)》“龍舟鷁首,浮吹以娛”,是劃著龍船、搖船在水上奏樂、游玩。在《夢(mèng)粱錄》中記載南宋杭州“龍舟六只,戲于湖中”。湖上有龍舟,只是畫舫游船的一部分。

唐、宋、元、明、情各代帝皇,均有臨水邊觀看龍舟的娛樂,也屬于游戲之類。《舊唐書》中記穆宗、敬宗,均有“觀競(jìng)渡”之事。《東京夢(mèng)華錄》卷七,記北宋皇帝于臨水殿看金明池內(nèi)龍舟競(jìng)渡之俗。其中有彩船、樂船、小船、畫艙、小龍船,虎頭船等供觀賞、奏樂,還有長(zhǎng)之四十丈的大龍船。除大龍船外,其他船列隊(duì)布陣,爭(zhēng)標(biāo)競(jìng)渡,作為娛樂。宋張擇端《金明池奪標(biāo)圖》即描繪此景。又明代皇帝,在中南海紫光閣觀龍舟,看御射監(jiān)勇士跑馬射箭。清代則在圓明園的福海舉行競(jìng)渡,乾隆、嘉慶帝等均往觀看。

龍舟競(jìng)渡 又有夜龍舟。在浙江武進(jìn),過去有夜龍舟,在四面掛起小燈以競(jìng)渡。四川五通橋從 1982 年起出現(xiàn)了夜龍舟,在舟上裝電燈,配焰火,漂浮河燈,輝煌奪目。浙江少數(shù)地方還于水上設(shè)堆堆浮焰,讓張燈結(jié)彩的龍舟從焰中穿過。

又有旱龍舟,是在陸地上進(jìn)行的模擬龍船比賽的活動(dòng)。如《南昌府志》載:“五月五日為旱龍舟,令數(shù)下人異(y6,共同拾東西)之,傳葩代鼓,填溢通衢,士女施錢祈福,競(jìng)以爆竹辟除不祥。”浙江武義縣,過去也有旱地推端午船之俗,也認(rèn)為可除邪祟。另廣東的佛山、東莞、信宜都有旱地劃龍舟之俗,實(shí)際上是一種舞蹈,但日期不一定在端午。佛山秋季秋色時(shí)的旱地龍舟最為壯觀。

又如《徽州府志》載:“五月五日,迎神船逐疫,船用竹為之,襲畫狀似鰍,以十二人為神,載而游緒市。”另有把小型旱龍船給小兒做玩具的。

龍舟 在劃龍船時(shí),又多有唱歌助興的龍般歌流傳。如湖北秭歸劃龍船時(shí),有完整的唱腔,詞曲根據(jù)當(dāng)?shù)孛窀枧c號(hào)子融匯而成,唱歌聲雄渾壯美,扣人心弦,即“舉揖而相和之”之遺風(fēng)。又如廣東南雄縣的龍船歌,是在四月龍船下水后唱到端午時(shí)止,表現(xiàn)內(nèi)容十分廣泛。流傳于廣西北部桂林、臨桂等地的龍船歌,在競(jìng)渡時(shí)由眾橈手合唱,有人領(lǐng)呼,表現(xiàn)內(nèi)容也多與龍舟、端午節(jié)俗有關(guān),歌聲宏遠(yuǎn)動(dòng)人。《廣西民間音樂選集》中收有臨桂縣 4 龍船歌》組曲,如號(hào)子般的節(jié)奏鮮明、熱烈,唱起來必定十分動(dòng)人。

另外,還應(yīng)說一下女龍船。在過去,許多地方的龍舟競(jìng)渡均不許婦女參加,認(rèn)為婦女接觸龍舟很不吉利。如今各地都出現(xiàn)了女子龍舟隊(duì),英姿諷爽的女人們奮勇爭(zhēng)光,爭(zhēng)奪第一,絲毫不弱于須眉男兒。

3.2 鳳舟

鳳舟競(jìng)渡 與春節(jié)有舞龍也有舞鳳一樣,端午有龍舟也有鳳舟。鳳舟的來源如上述,是源于遠(yuǎn)古的烏舟、鷁舟。古代宮廷中有鳳阿(如《天府廣記》中記明代宮廷便有),民間有鳳船競(jìng)渡。《粵囊》載:“龍舟以吊大夫,鳳船以奉天后,皆與五日為勝會(huì)。庚午之夏,番禺石橋村入聚萬金,制鳳船,長(zhǎng)十丈,闊丈三,首尾高舉,兩舷重翼為舒斂,背負(fù)殿宇,以奉天后,游各水鄉(xiāng)。”1964 年后香港又出現(xiàn)了風(fēng)艇賽。這種風(fēng)艇艇身稍短,可坐 16 名隊(duì)員,飾有鳳頭、鳳尾,由女隊(duì)員競(jìng)渡。的確是一種很好的比賽形式,合龍鳳呈樣之意。

有的地方還有龍鳳船。《順德縣志》載:“大良之龍鳳船妙極華麗。”但今已不見了。湖南汨羅縣的龍舟,前裝龍頭,后置鳳尾,鳳尾是用包有紅紙的竹篾成扇形插于船尾,如矩尾一般,也可稱為龍鳳船。龍鳳船,似乎是龍船與鳥船相融合后留下的痕跡。

3.3 拴五色絲線 應(yīng)劭的《風(fēng)俗通》則記載:“五月五,日以五彩絲系臂,名長(zhǎng)命縷,一名續(xù)命縷,一命辟兵繒,一名五色縷,一名朱索,辟兵及鬼,命人不病瘟”。五彩絲不是五彩繽紛的花色絲線,而是確定了的紅、黃、藍(lán)、白、黑五種顏色的絲線合并成的縷索。

中國古代崇拜五色,以五色為吉祥色。因而,節(jié)日清晨,各家大人起床后第一件大事便是在孩子手腕、腳腕、脖子上拴五色線。系線時(shí),禁忌兒童開口說話。五色線不可任意折斷或丟棄,只能在夏季一場(chǎng)大雨或第一次洗澡時(shí),拋到河里。據(jù)說,戴五色線的兒童可以避開蛇蝎類毒蟲的傷害;扔到河里,意味著讓河水將瘟疫、疾病沖走,兒童由此可以保安康。

3.4 掛荷包

荷包 陳示靚的《歲時(shí)廣記》引《歲時(shí)雜記》提及一種“端五以赤白彩造如囊,以彩線貫之,搐使如花形。”以及另一種“蚌粉鈴”:“端五日以蚌粉納帛中,綴之以綿,若數(shù)珠。令小兒帶之以吸汗也”。這些隨身攜帶的袋囊,內(nèi)容物幾經(jīng)變化,從吸汗的蚌粉、驅(qū)邪的靈符、銅錢,辟蟲的雄黃粉,發(fā)展成裝有香料的香囊,制作也日趨精致,成為端午節(jié)特有的民間藝品。

3.5 懸艾葉、菖蒲、蒜頭

端午節(jié) 艾、菖蒲和蒜被稱為“端午三友”。南北朝時(shí),端午又稱為“沐蘭節(jié)”,荊楚一帶有采艾的習(xí)俗。采艾要在雞未鳴以前就出發(fā),挑選最具人形的艾草帶回去掛在門上,有的還將艾草扎成虎形,再粘貼艾葉於其上。艾與菖蒲中含有芳香油,它們和蒜一樣都有殺菌作用。端午期間,時(shí)近夏至,正是寒氣暑氣交互轉(zhuǎn)換之時(shí),從飲食到穿衣、行動(dòng)都得注意。寶山縣有諺語道:“未吃端午粽,寒衣不可送;吃了端午粽,還要凍三凍。”古時(shí),人們?nèi)狈茖W(xué)觀念,誤以為疾病皆由鬼邪作崇所至,于是,端午節(jié)這天,人們以菖蒲作寶劍,以艾作鞭子,以蒜頭作錘子,又稱為“三種武器”,認(rèn)為可以退蛇、蟲、病菌,斬除妖魔。

江南地區(qū),有的習(xí)俗是在端午節(jié)飲菖蒲酒,則其藥用效能就更為直接。通常是在節(jié)前,便把菖蒲切碎,伴上雄黃,浸入酒中,節(jié)日便可飲用。

3.6 寫符念咒 除了用艾、菖蒲和蒜這“端午三友”驅(qū)鬼外,還有一種重要的驅(qū)鬼方法,是在室內(nèi)掛避邪驅(qū)鬼的符咒。掛驅(qū)鬼符還有一些嚴(yán)格的儀式。如有的要求必須在端午日出或正午時(shí)書寫,書寫材料用生朱,硯內(nèi)、書寫人口中必須放上硝石等。較為通行的符咒有:“五月五日天中節(jié),赤口白舌盡消滅”之類。上海人過去在端午節(jié)懸掛鐘馗像于門口,正是這種辟邪風(fēng)俗的繼續(xù)與演變。另外,類似于此的祛鬼禳魔的習(xí)俗,還有在兒童額上點(diǎn)雄黃酒。節(jié)日一早,婦女們便將兒童耳上夾艾蒿,頭上戴菖蒲,然后用雄黃酒在額上寫一個(gè)“王”字。據(jù)說,這樣可使百鬼畏懼,保命長(zhǎng)生。

3.7 射柳

端午節(jié) “與南方的賽龍舟不同,最具北方特色的是射箭和打馬球”。

我國北方各民族從來沒有端午節(jié)競(jìng)渡習(xí)俗,更不知道南國漢族還有一位愛國大詩人屈原。但是,在遼、金、清各朝歷史上都有端午節(jié)契丹族、女真族和以后的八旗將士馳馬射柳、打馬球的競(jìng)技遺俗。

北方人民的端午節(jié)慶游戲——射柳。據(jù)說,這項(xiàng)競(jìng)技活動(dòng)在遼時(shí)便已出現(xiàn),一直延續(xù)至清末。

馳馬射柳在端午節(jié)清晨舉行,先將柳樹干中上部削去青皮一段,使之露白,作為靶心。然后參賽者依次馳馬拈弓射削白處。射斷柳干后馳馬接斷柳在手者為優(yōu)勝。《金史·禮志》:“金因遼俗,重五日插柳去地約數(shù)寸,削其皮而白之。先以一人馳馬前導(dǎo),后馳馬以無羽橫簇箭射之。既斷柳,又以手接而弛去者為上。斷而不能接去者次之。每射必發(fā)鼓以助其氣。”至明代,是把鳥雀貯于葫蘆中射之。這種節(jié)日競(jìng)技相沿成習(xí),直至清末。

3.8 打馬球

端午節(jié) 明皇擊鞠圖。擊鞠亦即打馬球,也是北方端午節(jié)的主要經(jīng)濟(jì)娛樂活動(dòng)之一。相傳,唐玄宗李隆基便是這項(xiàng)運(yùn)動(dòng)的愛好者。

打馬球,也是端午之戲之一。馬球,是騎在馬上,持棍打球,古稱擊鞠。三國曹植《名都篇》中有“連翩擊鞠壤”之句。唐代長(zhǎng)安,有寬大的球場(chǎng),玄宗、敬宗等皇帝均喜馬球。章懷太子墓中《馬球圖》,畫出了唐代馬球的興盛:畫上,二十多匹駿馬飛馳,馬尾扎結(jié)起來,打球者頭戴幞巾,足登長(zhǎng)靴,手持球杖逐球相擊。《析津志》記遼國把打馬球作為節(jié)日的傳統(tǒng)風(fēng)俗,于端午、重九擊球。《金史·禮志》也記金人于端午擊球。宋代有“打球樂”舞隊(duì)。至明代,馬球仍流行。《續(xù)文獻(xiàn)通考·樂考》記載明成祖曾數(shù)次往東苑擊球、射柳。明《宣宗行樂圖》長(zhǎng)卷中繪有宣宗賞馬球之場(chǎng)面。當(dāng)時(shí)的官員王直寫的端午日觀打球的詩:“玉勒千金馬,雕文七寶球。鞚飛驚電掣,伏奮覺星流。炎頁過成三捷,歡傳第一籌。慶云隨逸足,繚繞殿東頭。”北京白云觀前也有群眾騎馬擊球之典。清代天壇一帶也還有馬球運(yùn)動(dòng),直至清中葉之后,馬球才消失了。近西安市又出現(xiàn)了仿古馬球運(yùn)動(dòng),使這一古老的體育運(yùn)動(dòng)在絕跡多年后重又出現(xiàn)在中華大地上。

3.9 采藥 這是最古老的端午節(jié)俗之一。《夏小正》載:“此日蓄藥,以蠲除毒氣。”《歲時(shí)廣記》卷二十二“采雜藥”引《荊楚歲時(shí)記》佚文:“五月五日,競(jìng)采雜藥,可治百病。”后魏《齊民要術(shù)?雜記》中,有五月捉蛤蟆的記載,亦是制藥用。后來有不少地區(qū)均有端午捉蛤蟆之俗,如江蘇于端午日收蛤蟆,刺取其沫,制作中藥蟾酥;杭州人還給小孩子吃蛤蟆,說是可以消火清涼、夏無瘡癤。還有在五日于蛤蟆口中塞墨錠,懸掛起來晾干,即成蛤蟆錠,涂于膿瘡上可使消散。這種捉蛤蟆制藥之俗,源于漢代“蟾蜍辟兵”之傳說。又如湖北監(jiān)利于端午“采百草”,亦采藥草之俗。采藥是因端午前后草藥莖葉成熟,藥性好,才于此日形成此俗。

3.10 沐蘭湯

沐蘭湯 端午日洗浴蘭湯是《大戴禮》記載的古俗。當(dāng)時(shí)的蘭不是現(xiàn)在的蘭花,而是菊科的佩蘭,有香氣,可煎水沐浴。《九歌?云中君》亦有“浴蘭湯會(huì)沭芳”之句。《荊楚歲時(shí)記》:“五 月五日,謂之浴蘭節(jié)。”《五雜俎》記明代人因?yàn)椤疤m湯不可得,則以午時(shí)取五色草拂而浴之”。后來一般是煎蒲、艾等香草洗澡。在廣東,則用艾、蒲、鳳仙、白玉蘭等花草;在湖南、廣西等地,則用柏葉、大風(fēng)根、艾、蒲、桃葉等煮成藥水洗浴。不論男女老幼,全家都洗,此

俗至今尚存,據(jù)說可治皮膚病、去邪氣。

3.11 采茶、制涼茶 北方一些地區(qū),喜于端午采嫩樹葉、野菜葉蒸晾,制成茶葉。廣東潮州一帶,人們?nèi)ソ纪馍揭安刹菟帲緵霾韬取_@對(duì)健康也有好處。

3.12 “驅(qū)除”五毒

端午節(jié) 民間認(rèn)為五月是五毒(蝎、蛇、蜈蚣、壁虎、蟾蜍)出沒之時(shí),民間要用各種方法以預(yù)防五毒之害。一般在屋中貼五毒圖,以紅紙印畫五種毒物,再用五根針刺于五毒之上,即認(rèn)為毒物被刺死,再不能橫行了。這是一種辟邪巫術(shù)遺俗。民間又在衣飾上繡制五毒,在餅上綴五毒圖案,均含驅(qū)除之意。

3.13 “倒災(zāi)葫蘆” 端午也以桃印為門飾。桃是民俗中驅(qū)鬼之物,源于神荼、郁壘之神話,以桃刻印,亦為祛攘之意。《續(xù)漢書?禮儀志》:“朱索、五色桃印為門戶飾,以止惡氣。”后世的昧符、吉祥葫蘆即源于此。

《夢(mèng)粱錄》卷三:“士官等家以生朱于午時(shí)書‘五月五日天中節(jié),赤口白舌盡消滅’之句”,這是宋代之俗。《燕京歲時(shí)記》又記:“端陽日用彩紙剪成各樣葫蘆,倒粘于門闌上,以泄毒氣。”這是清代之俗。有的還在紙葫蘆上垂絲穗、飄帶等,更為好看,或在葫蘆中剪出五毒形狀,掛貼于門,亦表示將五毒之氣泄盡之意,你為“倒災(zāi)葫蘆”。

至今民間仍有懸鏡于門以避邪之俗。在唐代,專于五月五日午時(shí)于揚(yáng)州揚(yáng)子江心鑄銅鏡,以進(jìn)貢皇帝,稱為“天子鏡”,這也是辟邪之意(見《唐國史補(bǔ)》)。所以后世多于門前掛鏡驅(qū)邪。

3.14 斗草之戲

端午節(jié) 漢以前不見斗草之戲。(《歷代社會(huì)通俗事物考?尚秉和》)起源無考,普遍認(rèn)為與中醫(yī)藥學(xué)的產(chǎn)生有關(guān)。遠(yuǎn)古先民艱苦求存,生活單調(diào),暇余以斗蟲、斗草、斗獸等為戲自娛,及至傳說的“神農(nóng)嘗百草”形成中醫(yī)藥學(xué)后,每年端午節(jié)群出郊外采藥,插艾門上,以解溽暑毒疫,衍成定俗;收獲之余,往往舉行比賽,以對(duì)仗形式互報(bào)花名、草名,多者為贏,兼具植物知識(shí)、文學(xué)知識(shí)之妙趣;兒童則以葉柄相勾,捏住相拽,斷者為輸,再換一葉相斗。白居易《觀兒戲》詩云:“弄塵或斗草,盡日樂嬉嬉。” 《物原》云:“始于漢武”。據(jù)梁朝人宗懔在《荊楚歲時(shí)記》中云:”五月五日,四民并踏百草,又有斗草之戲。“《年華記麗》:“端午結(jié)廬蓄藥,斗百草,纏五絲。” 南北朝時(shí)稱“踏百草”,唐代稱“斗草”或“斗百草”。《劉賓客嘉話》云:”唐中宗朝,安樂公主五日斗百草.“宋代擴(kuò)展至平日隨時(shí)可斗。歷代文人作品中對(duì)此多有描述。

北京故宮博物院藏《群嬰斗草圖》,其玩法大抵如下:比賽雙方先各自采摘具有一定韌性的草,(樓蘭案:多為車前草,車前草多年生草本植物,多生路邊、溝 旁、田埂等處。無莖,具多數(shù)細(xì)長(zhǎng)之須根;葉自根際叢出,薄紙質(zhì),具五條主葉脈,全緣或波狀,或有疏鈍齒,長(zhǎng)達(dá) 15—30 厘米;具綠白色疏生花,花冠四裂,雄蕊四枚;果實(shí)成熟后會(huì)如蓋子般掀開,釋出四至六顆棕黑色種子,其長(zhǎng)長(zhǎng)的花軸,用來斗草的好材料。)然后相互交叉成“十”字狀并各自用勁拉扯,以不斷者為勝。

這種以人的拉力和草的受拉力的強(qiáng)弱來決定輸贏的斗草,被稱為“武斗”。王建《宮詞》,吟詠斗草游戲的情狀:“水中芹葉土中花,拾得還將避眾家,總待別人般數(shù)盡,袖中拈出郁金芽”斗草除有“武斗”外,還有“文斗”。所謂“

群嬰斗草圖 文斗”,就是對(duì)花草名,《紅樓夢(mèng)》第六十二回中:“寶玉生日那天,眾姐妹們忙忙碌碌安席飲酒做詩。各屋的丫頭也隨主子取樂,薛蟠的妾香菱和幾個(gè)丫頭各采了些花草,斗草取樂。這個(gè)說,我有觀音柳;那個(gè)說我又羅漢松。突然豆官說,我有姐妹花,這下把大家難住了,香菱說,我有夫妻穗。豆官見香菱答上了不服氣地說:“從來沒有什么夫妻穗!”香菱爭(zhēng)辯道:“一枝一個(gè)花叫‘蘭’,一枝幾個(gè)花叫‘穗’。上下結(jié)花為‘兄弟穗’,并頭結(jié)花叫‘夫妻穗’,我這個(gè)是并頭結(jié)花,怎么不叫‘夫妻穗’呢?”豆官一時(shí)被問住,便笑著說:“依你說,一大一小叫:‘老子兒子穗’,若兩朵花背著開可叫‘仇人穗’了。薛蟠剛外出半年,你心里想他,把花兒草兒拉扯成夫妻穗了,真不害臊!”說得香菱滿面通紅,笑著跑過來擰豆官的嘴,于是兩個(gè)人扭滾在地上。眾丫鬟嬉戲打鬧,非常開心。這時(shí),寶玉也采了些草來湊熱鬧。

3.15 躲端午

端午節(jié) 躲端午是端午節(jié)習(xí)俗,指接新嫁或已嫁之女回家度節(jié)。簡(jiǎn)稱“躲午”,亦稱“躲端五”。俗以五月、五月五日為惡月、惡日,諸事多需避忌,因有接女歸家躲端午之俗。此俗宋代似已形成,陸游《豐歲》詩有“羊腔酒擔(dān)爭(zhēng)迎婦,遣鼓龍船共賽神”之句。《嘉靖隆慶志》亦記云:“已嫁之女召還過節(jié)”。又,《灤州志》:“女之新嫁者,于是月俱迎以歸,謂之‘躲端午’”。

3.16 端午雨 端午雨,時(shí)民間歲時(shí)占驗(yàn)習(xí)俗。俗信端午節(jié)下雨,不吉;反之則吉。此種俗信在宋代即已存在。陳元靚《歲時(shí)廣記》引《提要錄》云:“五月五日哨,人曝藥,歲無災(zāi)。雨則鬼曝藥,人多病。此閩中諺語。”又許月卿《次韻蜀人李施州芾端午》自注云:“臨川人謂端午日雨,鬼旺人災(zāi)。清趙懷玉詩自注亦引有“端陽無雨是豐年”的諺語。

3.17 立蛋

立蛋 所謂的“立蛋”及“浮水針”是指端午節(jié)當(dāng)天正午十二點(diǎn)時(shí),因是陽剛正氣匯集之極,所以俗信平日不易豎立的雞蛋在此時(shí)便可直豎在地上,同理也可證于繡花針亦可浮在水面上。

事實(shí)上,若以科學(xué)原理印證可知:因端午節(jié)當(dāng)天太陽照射在北半球,正午時(shí)分太陽引力與地球引力互相拉扯,使得立在地上的蛋很容易就能達(dá)到平衡站起來,所以立蛋便成為端午節(jié)孩童最佳的嬉戲項(xiàng)目之一。

3.18 跳鐘馗 跳鐘馗、鬧鐘馗:自晉代以來跳鐘馗、鬧鐘馗,賜福鎮(zhèn)宅就是端午節(jié)和春節(jié)的重要內(nèi)容。2.懸掛鐘馗畫。最早的鐘馗畫,據(jù)說出自畫圣吳道子之手。據(jù)北宋沈括《夢(mèng)溪補(bǔ)筆談》記載:唐明皇患疾近一月,忽夢(mèng)二鬼。小鬼竊得皇上玉笛及楊貴妃之紫香囊奔逃,大鬼乃捉小鬼刳其目,然后擘而啖之。大鬼道:“臣為鐘馗,即武舉不捷之士也,誓與陛下除天下之妖孽。”唐明皇醒后,即病愈,便召畫工吳道子,囑其按夢(mèng)中情景畫鐘馗捉鬼圖,道子揮筆即成,明皇見后,竟與所夢(mèng)一模一樣,驚嘆不已。后來,鐘馗畫漸漸走入民間,繪制鐘馗畫大都作于五月端午節(jié)這一天,或者端午節(jié)的前后幾天。到了清代,江南蘇、浙一帶的居民大都在農(nóng)歷五月于大門或堂中掛鐘馗圖一月,以期驅(qū)邪除害、祛兇引福。傳統(tǒng)食俗 最早出現(xiàn)的端午時(shí)食,應(yīng)屬西漢的“梟羹”。《史記》“武帝本紀(jì)”注引如淳言:“漢使東郡送梟,五月五日為梟羹以賜百官。以惡鳥,故食之”。大約因?yàn)闂n不易捕捉,所以吃梟羹的習(xí)俗并沒有持續(xù)下來。但端午的主角-粽子,在稍晚的東漢就已出現(xiàn)。一直要到晉朝,粽子才成為端午的應(yīng)節(jié)食品。《風(fēng)土記》:“五月五日,與夏至同,……先此二節(jié)一日,又以菰葉裹

黏米,雜以粟,以淳濃灰汁煮之令熟。”同時(shí)又有另一種端午節(jié)食,稱為“龜”也只在晉朝曇花一現(xiàn),隨即銷聲匿跡。只有《風(fēng)土記》中稱為“角黍”的粽子,因?yàn)楦綍?huì)在屈原的傳說上,千百年來,成為最受人歡迎的端午節(jié)食。

4.1 吃粽子

粽子 “粽子香,香廚房。艾葉香,香滿堂。桃枝插在大門上,出門一望麥兒黃。這兒端陽,那兒端陽,處處都端陽。” 這是舊時(shí)流行甚廣的一首描寫過端午節(jié)的民謠。總體上說,各地人民過端午節(jié)的習(xí)俗大同小異,而端午節(jié)吃粽子,古往今來,中國各地都一樣。如今的粽子更是多種多樣,璀璨紛呈。現(xiàn)今各地的粽子,一般都用箬殼包糯米,但內(nèi)含的花色則根據(jù)各地特產(chǎn)和風(fēng)俗而定,著名的有桂圓粽、肉粽、水晶粽、蓮蓉粽、蜜餞粽、板栗粽、辣粽、酸菜粽、火腿粽、咸蛋粽等等。

中國少數(shù)民族的粽子 瑤族:瑤族做粽子用糯米配臘肉條、綠豆,包“枕頭粽”,形似枕頭,每個(gè)約 250 克。也有在糯米中加紅糖、花生等制成素餡涼粽子。[5] 廣西派:碩大的“枕頭粽” 畬族:畬族粽子,民間稱牯角。用箬葉將糯米包成四角。再用龍草捆扎,十個(gè)一串,有的人家還要在包粽子時(shí)加菜、肉、紅棗等做餡。煮粽常用灰堿水,粽子煮好后,色黃氣香,可存放半月。

傣族:傣族過端午也吃粽子,還要過“粽子節(jié)”。據(jù)說“粽子節(jié)”是為了紀(jì)念一對(duì)因婚姻遭父母反對(duì)而殉情的青年男女。在這一天,凡未婚的傣家小伙子都要拿粽子包,與姑娘們相會(huì)在大龍?zhí)兜拿⒐麡湎拢信畤扇Γ媚锍鹎楦瑁』镒哟等~子伴奏。然后小伙子把粽包送給中意的姑娘。

毛南族:毛南族也過端午節(jié),但節(jié)日的意義與漢族不同,民間稱為“藥節(jié)”。過藥節(jié)時(shí),習(xí)慣采艾葉、菖蒲、黃姜等草藥熬水飲汁,或用這些草藥作餡包粽食用。民間認(rèn)為端午吃這種包餡粽粑可以解毒去病。

4.2 飲雄黃酒

雄黃酒 端午飲雄黃酒的習(xí)俗,從前在長(zhǎng)江流域地區(qū)極為盛行。古語曾說 “飲了雄黃酒,病魔都遠(yuǎn)走”。雄黃是一種礦物質(zhì),俗稱“雞冠石”,其主要成分是硫化砷,并含有汞,有毒。一般飲用的雄黃酒,只是在白酒或自釀的黃酒里加入微量雄黃而成,無純飲的。雄黃酒有殺菌驅(qū)蟲解五毒的功效,中醫(yī)還用來治皮膚病。在沒有碘酒之類消毒劑的古代,用雄黃泡酒,可以祛毒解癢。未到喝酒年齡的小孩子,大人則給他們的額頭、耳鼻、手足心等處涂抹上雄黃酒,意在消毒防病,蟲豸不叮。

4.3 吃五黃 江浙一帶有端午節(jié)吃“五黃”的習(xí)俗。五黃指黃瓜、黃鱔、黃魚、咸鴨蛋黃、雄黃酒。此外浙北端午節(jié)還吃豆腐。

4.4 吃十二紅 高郵等地有吃“十二紅”的習(xí)俗。十二紅指油爆蝦、炒紅莧菜、咸鴨蛋黃、朱砂豆腐等。

4.5 吃茶蛋 江西南昌地區(qū),端午節(jié)要煮茶蛋和鹽水蛋吃。蛋有雞蛋、鴨蛋、鵝蛋。蛋殼涂上紅色,用五顏六色的網(wǎng)袋裝著,掛在小孩子的脖子上,意為祝福孩子逢兇化吉,平安無事。

4.6 吃大蒜蛋

大蒜蛋 河南、浙江等省農(nóng)村每逢端午節(jié)這天,家里的主婦起得特別早,將事先準(zhǔn)備好的大蒜和雞蛋放在一起煮,供一家人早餐食用。有的地方,還在煮大蒜和雞蛋時(shí)放幾片艾葉。早餐食大蒜、雞蛋、烙油饃,這種食法據(jù)說可避“五毒”,有益健康。

4.7 吃打糕 端午節(jié)是吉林省延邊朝鮮族人民隆重的節(jié)日。這一天最有代表性的食品是清香的打糕。打糕,就是將艾蒿與糯米飯,放置于獨(dú)木鑿成的大木槽里,用長(zhǎng)柄木棰打制而成的米糕。這種食品很有民族特色,又可增添節(jié)日的氣氛。

4.8 吃煎堆 福建晉江地區(qū),端午節(jié)家家戶戶還要吃“煎堆”,就是用面粉、米粉或番薯粉和其他配料調(diào)成濃糊狀煎成。相傳古時(shí)閩南一帶在端午節(jié)之前是雨季,陰雨連綿不止,民間說天公穿了洞,要“補(bǔ)天”。端午節(jié)吃了“煎堆”后雨便止了,人們說把天補(bǔ)好了。這種食俗由此而來。端午佩飾 5.1 健人

端午 健人 舊時(shí)江浙一帶端五時(shí)婦女的一種飾物。一般用金銀絲或銅絲金箔做成,形狀為小人騎虎,亦有另加鐘、鈴、纓及蒜、粽子等的。插在婦女發(fā)髻,也用以饋送。《清嘉錄》云:“(五月五日)市人以金銀絲制為繁纓、鐘、鈴諸狀,騎人于虎,極精細(xì),綴小釵,貫為串,或有用銅絲金箔者,供婦女插鬢。又互相獻(xiàn)賚,名曰健人。”健人一說與艾人同意,只是以帛易艾,吳曼云《江鄉(xiāng)節(jié)物詞?小序》云:“杭俗,健人即艾人,而易之以帛,作駱虎狀,婦人皆戴之,”似此則當(dāng)有驅(qū)邪辟疫之作用;一說即古時(shí)的步搖,純?yōu)閶D女裝飾品(蔡云《吳獻(xiàn)》注)。

5.2 豆娘

豆娘 端午 舊時(shí)端五節(jié)婦女的頭飾。多見于江南。一些地區(qū)亦稱作健人。此物一說源于古代的步搖,一說即艾人的別樣形式。《清嘉錄》引《唐宋遺紀(jì)》云:“江誰南北,五日釵頭彩勝之制,備極奇巧。凡以繒銷翦制艾葉,或攢繡仙、佛、合、烏、蟲、魚、百獸之形,八寶群花之類。縐紗蜘蛛,綺榖鳳麟,繭虎絨陀,排草蜥蜴,又螳蜘蟬蝎,又葫蘆瓜果,色色逼真。加以幡幢寶蓋,繡球繁纓,鐘鈴百狀,或貫以串,名曰豆娘,不可勝紀(jì)。” 5.3 艾虎

端午節(jié) 舊時(shí)端午節(jié)驅(qū)邪辟祟之物,也作裝飾品。我國古代視虎為神獸,俗以為可以鎮(zhèn)祟辟邪、保佑安寧。《風(fēng)俗通》云:“虎者陽物,百獸之長(zhǎng)也。能噬食鬼魅,……亦辟惡”。故民間多取虎為辟邪之用,其中尤以端午節(jié)的艾虎為最具特色。艾虎或以艾編剪而成,或剪彩為虎,粘以艾葉,佩戴于發(fā)際身畔。端午節(jié)飾戴艾虎的風(fēng)習(xí)已經(jīng)有千年以上的歷史。宋陳元規(guī)《歲時(shí)廣記》引《歲時(shí)雜記》:“端午以艾為虎形,至有如黑豆大者,或剪彩為小虎,粘艾葉以戴之。王沂公《端午帖子》詩:‘釵頭艾虎辟群邪,曉駕祥云七寶車’。”又清富察敦崇《燕京歲時(shí)記》:“每至端陽,閨閣中之巧者,用綾羅制成小虎及粽子……以彩線穿之,懸于釵頭,或系于小兒之背,古詩云:‘玉燕釵頭艾虎輕’,即此意也。”除佩飾艾虎以外,端午節(jié)還有用雄黃為小兒在額頭畫“王”的風(fēng)習(xí),其意也在于借虎辟邪。

5.4 畫額

時(shí)端午節(jié)以雄黃涂抹小兒額頭的習(xí)俗,云可驅(qū)避毒蟲。典型的方 畫額 法是用雄黃酒在小兒額頭畫“王”字,一借雄黃以驅(qū)毒,二借猛虎(“王”似虎的額紋,又虎為獸中之王,因以代虎)以鎮(zhèn)邪。清富察敦祟《燕京歲時(shí)記》:“每至端陽,自初一日起,取雄黃合酒灑之,用涂小兒領(lǐng)及鼻耳間,以避毒物。”除在額頭、鼻耳涂抹外,亦可涂抹他處,用意一致。山西《河曲縣志》云:“端午,飲雄黃酒,用涂小兒額及兩手、足心,……謂可卻病延年。” 5.5 長(zhǎng)命縷

端午節(jié) 時(shí)端午節(jié)厭勝佩飾。亦稱續(xù)命縷、續(xù)命絲、延年縷、長(zhǎng)壽線,別稱’百索、’辟兵紹、五彩縷等,名稱不一,形制、功用大體相同。其俗在端午節(jié)以五色絲結(jié)而成索,或懸于門首,或戴小兒項(xiàng)頸,或系小兒手臂,或掛于床帳、搖籃等處,俗謂可避災(zāi)除病、保佑安康、益壽延年。此類節(jié)物的形制大體有五:簡(jiǎn)單的以五色絲線合股成繩,系于臂膀;在五彩繩上綴飾金錫飾物,掛于項(xiàng)頸;五彩繩折成方勝,飾于胸前;五彩繩結(jié)為人像戴之;以五彩絲線繡繪日月星辰烏獸等物,敬獻(xiàn)尊長(zhǎng)。此俗始于漢代。東漢應(yīng)劭《風(fēng)俗通?佚文》:“午日,以五彩絲系臂,避鬼及兵,令人不病瘟,一名長(zhǎng)命縷,一名辟兵紹”。以后相沿成習(xí),直至近、現(xiàn)代。清富察敦祟《燕京歲時(shí)記》記當(dāng)時(shí)風(fēng)俗:“每至端陽,閨閣中之巧者,用續(xù)羅制成小虎及粽子、壺盧、櫻桃、桑葚之類,以彩線穿之,懸于釵頭,或系于小兒之背。”其中唐宋時(shí),更有宮廷賜大臣此種節(jié)物之事。史載唐代宗興元元年端節(jié),宮廷曾賜百索一軸。又《宋史?禮志十五》:“前一日,以金縷延壽帶、彩絲續(xù)命縷分賜百官。節(jié)日戴以入。” 5.6 戴香包

端午節(jié) 香包又叫香袋、香囊;荷包等,有用五色絲線纏成的,有用碎布縫成的,內(nèi)裝香料(用中草藥白芷、川芎、芩草、排草、山奈、甘松、高本行制成),佩在胸前,香氣撲鼻。

陳示靚的《歲時(shí)廣記》引《歲時(shí)雜記》提及一種“端五以赤白彩造如囊,以彩線貫之,搐使如花形。”以及另一種“蚌粉鈴”:“端五日以蚌粉納帛中,綴之以綿,若數(shù)珠。令小兒帶之以吸汗也”。這些隨身攜帶的袋囊,內(nèi)容物幾經(jīng)變化,從吸汗的蚌粉、驅(qū)邪的靈符、銅錢,辟蟲的雄黃粉,發(fā)展成裝有香料的香囊,制作也日趨精致,成為端午節(jié)特有的民間藝品。

戴香包頗有講究。老年人為了防病健身,一般喜歡戴梅花、菊花、桃子、蘋果、荷花、娃娃騎魚、娃娃抱公雞、雙蓮并蒂等形狀的,象征著鳥語花香,萬事如意,夫妻恩愛,家庭和睦。小孩喜歡的是飛禽走獸類的,如虎、豹子;猴子上竽、斗雞趕免等。青年人戴香包最講究,如果是熱戀中的情人,那多情的姑娘很早就要精心制作一二枚別致的香包,趕有節(jié)前送給自己的情郎。小伙子戴著心上人送給的香包,自然要引起周圍男女的評(píng)論,直夸小伙的對(duì)象心靈手巧。
