Nowadays, with the dramatic change in the job hunting market, college graduates are faced with fierce competition.Therefore, being self-employed is an alternative to getting a job.When it comes whether graduates should be encouraged to be their own bosses, there are two types of opinions that merit discussion.Many people believe graduates choosing self-employment as their goal because it gives them the flexibility to set their own schedule.In addition, graduates have opportunities to apply what they’ve learned at college into business, for example, professional knowledge, abilities to communicate, organize, and assess risk.Furthermore, they may get to know their merits and drawbacks, especially the experience from their failure.In contrast, the other group of people doesn’t consider it wise for graduates to try their luck in business when they’ve just stepped out of colleges.Admittedly, self-employment may accelerate employment rate to a certain extent, but their success rate is fairly low.To run a business with only passion and impulse is far more inadequate, chances are that graduates will have to pay a heavy price.What they need involves overall quality, special training and financial support.Graduates employment has always been the focus of families and the society.From my perspective, graduates should be encouraged to start their own business.It is, however, closely related to the current macroeconomic climate, the development trend and the talent demand in certain fields and the graduates’ specialty advantage and overall quality.In order to inspire graduates qualified for self-employment, sound self-employment policies for graduates should be implemented by the government.What’s more, colleges should reform curriculum system and open certain courses of employment guidance to provide graduates with information and technical assistance.
