巧用繞口令教學英語音標
“萬丈高樓平地起”,是說地基對于建筑物的重要性,而構筑英語殿堂的基石則是英語音標,學英語的目的就是為了說英語,用英語。一方面,有些人盡管筆試成績 不錯,但卻羞于啟齒說英語,或者說出的英語令人難以聽懂。究其原因,是英語音標沒掌握。另一方面,大多數英語單詞的拼寫和單詞的音標都遵循讀音規則,因 此,只要掌握了讀音規則,并不斷總結單詞拼寫與其音標之間的聯系,就能做到看見單詞就能讀出來,能說出來的單詞就會寫??傊?,掌握好語音,不僅對于練就一 口標準的英語口語很關鍵,而且對于記憶英語單詞也有很大幫助。
那么,如何讀準音標呢?
傳統的方法是依照教材練口形,根據錄音模仿發音。單純這樣的練習,一則單調乏味,二則缺乏對比,學習效果較差,很多人往往半途而廢。傳統教學中把容易混淆 的音標分組,進行對比練習,雖有效果,但因無相應的語言環境,也顯得枯燥,難以把握。筆者在多年的英語教學工作中,把含有某個音標或某幾個音標的多個單詞 編成繞口令,教給學生。教學實踐中,學生們覺得既生動有趣,又新穎獨特,記憶深刻。枯燥的發音練習頓時生動活潑,音標的讀音在不知不覺中得到強化,教學效 果明顯提高?,F將繞口令教學法的要點介紹如下:
一、發揮繞口令的強化練習作用
編一個繞口令,讓個別難以發準的音標多次出習在一個或幾個句子中,朗讀時反復檢查自己的口型使口腔習慣于該音的準確位置。若再次碰到此音,口腔便很快滑到 該音的準確位置。此謂單音強化練習如有人常把He smiles讀成He smells,就是沒有掌握[ai]的正確讀音。不妨采用如下繞口令對[ai]的音進行強化訓練:
I like to ride my light white bike,and fly a white light kite with my wife.(我喜歡在晚上月光下沿河邊和我量子邊騎著那白色的輕型車邊放白色的輕風箏。)
二、發揮繞口令的對比作用
繞口令的突出優點是進行對比練習。把兩個豉多個相近的音素放在一起,讓學生在朗讀時進行比較,提高發音器官的適應性。特別是在長元音和短元音的訓練中能使 學生有效的區分長音和短音,效果突出。例如,很多人認為[i]是長元音[i:]的短讀。實際上,雖然[i]和[i:]都是舌前部抬高,但[i]的發聲通道 要比[i:]大得多。用下面的繞口令進行對比訓練。

三、發揮繞口令的識別作用
在準確掌握每個音素的基礎上,把一些易混淆的音素放進具體的語言環境中,讓口腔等發音器官識別 每一個音素。繞口令則能夠很好地滿足這一要求,充分鍛煉各個發音器官的靈活性。如教學實踐中,象這些元音,學生往往 感到難以掌握,筆者就讓他們練湊下面的繞口令,從慢到快,循序漸進,效果頗佳。

中國古代的第五大發明
1982 年 5 月、心理學家查德·林博士在英國著名的科學雜志《自然》上發表文章,在世界上引起強烈轟動,他對英、美、法、西德、日本五國兒童智商進行了測查發現,歐美四國的兒童智商平均為 100,而日本兒童平均智商為 111,原因是日本兒童學習了漢字。日本的石井勛教授在其《幼兒智力開發法》一書中告訴我們:他多次反復測試的結果是,日本的孩子小時候如果不學漢字,他的智商也和歐美兒童一樣是 100。但是學習了漢字,情況就不同了:如果從 5 歲開始學起,到入學前一年,智商能達到 110 ;要是從 4 歲開始學起,學兩年,智商能達 120 ;若從 3 歲開始學習三年,智商能達到 125 一 130。為什么識字能促進智力發展?因為每個漢字都是音、形、義有機聯系的符號刺激物,嬰幼兒學習漢字有利于右腦開發,而右腦的開發對兒童智力的發展具有決定性意義。在幼兒時期進行學習會促進大腦皮層的發育,培養出腦細胞質量高、頭腦聰明的人來。
漢字是最古老而最具有生命力的文字,中國仰韶文化時期就有了圖形文字,到殷商時代轉化成甲骨文,以后一直伴隨著中華文化的發展,強有力地推動著文明的進程。漢字對于繼承中華文化,維護國家統一以及引進外來文明,促進國際交流都作出了不朽的歷史貢獻。
漢字在世界文字叢林中獨樹一幟,具有特殊的地位和優越性:
(一)它是最節省的詞構文字。漢字像魔塊,有神奇般的組詞能力,往往一個字能構建出許多個意義單位(詞)。如一個“白”字就組成了“白天”、“白癡”、“白蘭地”、“白木耳”、“白馬過隙”、“白璧無瑕”共100多個詞條。這樣,漢語常用的四萬個詞匯只需要三千個漢字構建即可,就能拼寫出絢麗多姿,氣象萬千,海洋般深邃,天宇般廣闊的文章來,而人們識字的任務卻很有限。
(二)它是最富有聯想的智慧文字。漢字表義能力特別強,它像一幅圖畫,(像形文字,形意文字,意音文字,和大量的偏旁表義),看慣了這些字,目擊的瞬間就能萌發聯想,甚至產生情感,使人的認識迅速發生變化。例如看“風”、“瘋”、“峰”、“豐”、“封”等字,一看就能理解其意義并產生想象它所表現的情境,而拼音文字的“feng”,目擊它時人毫無感覺,只有讀了前后文以后才懂得它的意義,思維就慢了一拍。
(三)它是世上獨有的雙腦文字。人們都知道語言邏輯思維開發左腦,而形象情感生活開發右腦功能,漢字組成的視覺語言,具備了雙重功能,既促進概念邏輯思維的發展,而文字圖形又促進右腦的想象和情緒活動。所以因左腦外傷得了“失語癥”的病人,不能聽和說,卻仍能看懂漢字寫成的文章,可見漢字對左右腦的開發具有同樣重要的作用。
(四)漢字是最優秀的藝術文字。因為漢字是一幅幅的圖畫,當然書寫時容易美化,所以世界上的文字唯有漢字的書寫能發展為一門“書法藝術”??磿ù髱焸兊哪珜?,有的高遠飄逸,有的莊嚴凝重,有的蒼勁有力,有的娟秀美麗,表現出種種神韻氣質,這是世界上任何其它文字都難以表達的藝術美。
此外,漢字還特具簡短明確的優點。它的音節少,最適合未來聲控計算機使用。又隨著中國經濟飛速發展,國際地位蒸蒸日上,加之我國進入WTO以后,隨著國際交流的日益頻繁,四海賓朋紛至沓來,漢字必將成為世界通用文字之一。當今世界各國漢字、漢語熱的興起,有力地證明了這一大趨勢已經到來。
漢字真是中華民族的瑰寶,它是完全可與中國古代發明火藥,造紙術、指南針、印刷術相媲美的中國“第五大發明”,所不同的是這“第五大發明”不僅古代功勛顯赫,而今日和未來的中國與世界,將是它更加發揮威力的時代!
二、識字閱讀點燃智慧
中國人民自古以來重視識字閱讀,在人才成長中把它放在與豐富生活感受同等重要的地位。所謂成才者需要“行萬里路”,“讀萬卷書”的教導流傳至今就是證明。上個世紀前人們把“上學”往往說成“讀書”也說明閱讀在學習中無可比擬的地位。
我把識字閱讀稱之謂“騰飛的一翼”。騰飛必須有雙翼,其中一翼是 豐富的生活感受,擴大視野,動手動腦,處理人際關系,經受各種歷煉??人的直接經驗才可能認識世界和自己,它又是領會書本知識,認識萬物的基礎。但騰飛還必須有另一翼,那就是識字和閱讀,因為世界的廣闊性、多樣性、復雜性和不斷發展著的萬事萬物,人決不可能事事直接經歷,必須依賴大量閱讀來充實自己。識字閱讀這一翼對于人才的萌生和飛躍同樣不可有半點兒或缺,它甚至是文化人和愚昧人重要的分水嶺。
關于直接經驗的重要性和教育途徑我在《假期重于學期》一書中有詳盡的闡述,這里只簡要地介紹識字閱讀對于兒童成長的重要意義和作用:
第一,孩子的識字閱讀能極大地發展智力。它極利于從小培養孩子的注意力、觀察力、記憶力、思維力、想象力等等。當孩子被識字教學的趣味活動所吸引,與字寶寶交了朋友,又能瑯瑯上口地讀兒歌,韻語、古詩、童話時,那種專注令人感動,那種觀察漢字細微的差別也令人陶醉。至于思維和想象力的發展他們甚至能無師自通地說出為什么“江”“河”“湖”“海”都有三點水,“晴”“睛”“情”“請”看看偏旁就知道有什么不同意義等。到孩子進入閱讀以后思維和想象的發展就更快了,直接把作者(許多是名家)的思維流,吸收而變為自己的思維流,甚至因大量閱讀逐漸爬上了巨人的肩膀。
第三,孩子識字閱讀極大地豐富知識。漢字是知識的載體,每一個漢字都有它的來歷,都有豐富的知識含義,至于漢字紀錄的大千文章更是展現在讀者面前的知識江河和海洋,讓孩子從小嬉戲于知識大海的灘頭一角,拾取一些美麗的貝殼,對于他們將來橫渡大洋去探寶,肯定有極強的誘惑力。數十萬年來人類探索到的全部知識,能保存下來的極大部分都在書本—“視覺語言”庫里,孩子喜愛閱讀就能從小一點一點地接近它,選擇它,吸收它。
第三,孩子識字閱讀培養良好習慣、性格和從小愛書的美德。大量的優秀兒童讀物,不僅優美有趣,更是孩子精神的佳肴。書中描繪著世界的奇妙,人間的美好和情愛,還有各種勤勞與懶惰,勇敢與怯懦,誠實與謊言,創新與保守,真善美與假惡丑的矛盾斗爭??通過閱讀這些生動故事、童話、詩歌、散文當然是最自然的精神陶冶的最有效的思想品德教育,真是“隨風潛入夜,潤物細無聲”。而且孩子從小愛書,就終生好學,一生與好書為伴,這也是高素質人才最重要的基本素質和美德。
第四、孩子識字閱讀,從小培養了自學思考能力。在人的一生中,自學思考和創新能力是最重要的能力,而創新基于自學和思考。自學和思考又基于視覺語言(包括視覺語言發展為不出聲的內部語言)——閱讀能力。
社會上高素質、高品位的人實際上都是自學成才者,例如同樣是大學畢業生,善于自學思考鉆研者,博覽群書,主動探索而出類拔萃。而只會聽講做筆記、背結論者畢業后連就業也困難。所以從小培養孩子讀書思考,提出問題,分析問題,研究解決問題的能力,才是最最重要的。、孩子識字閱讀的重要性,正與大教育家蘇霍姆林斯基所說的:積三十年之經驗,我確信兒童的智慧取決于閱讀。
三、“視覺語言”與“聽覺語言”同步相似發展
語言是人用來思維和交流思想的工具。它是作為人最基本的素質條件之一。人的語言有多種形式,有聽覺語言(聽話說話),視覺語言(識字閱讀和作文),觸覺語言(盲文)和手勢語言(啞語),正常孩子務必從小學會聽覺語言和視覺語言。
人們都認為聽覺語言最易學,不學也會;視覺語言最難學,學也不會??這是個天大的誤解。聽覺語言非常難,成年人窮其后半生數十年,也難以說好一門外語說,標準一口方言就是例證。但是嬰幼兒不怕難,他出生以后天天聽人說話,不知不覺地模仿和領悟,一二年便學到任何一種外語和方言,學得惟妙惟肖,天衣無縫,精妙逼真,并且毫無負擔和壓力。
這種聽覺語言的自然教育是世界上最成功的早期教育法,在這種自然教育法的幫助下,可以說嬰幼兒個個都是“神童”。如果人類讓嬰幼兒的視覺語言與聽覺語言同步相似地發展,那么每一個孩子也能像學會說話、走路、認物、聽音樂一樣,不知不覺識字脫盲,三四歲學會閱讀,五六歲博覽群書,并且終生愛書,學會自學和思考。這一理論是《0歲方案》的重大發現之一,20多年來已培養出千萬個小讀者,建樹了我國識字教學的最新里程碑。
發展視覺語言的方法,與現實的中小學識字閱讀教學有根本的區別: 一是性質不同:早期發展視覺語言是人的基本的素質培養,就像人必須會認物走路、說話一樣;而中小學生識字閱讀作為系統文化知識的傳授。
二是進度不同:早期發展嬰幼兒視覺語言重在培養興趣和習慣,沒有進度要求。有了良好的識字閱讀興趣,三四歲定能脫盲閱讀,就像1歲半的孩子定會走路一樣。而中小學的識字教學是有嚴密的進度指標要求的。
三是質量要求不同:早期發展視覺語言,任孩子理解多少是多少,記住多少是多少,哪怕只會指認而讀不出音也算識字。而中小學生識字,是要求認識字形,讀準字音,理解字義,學會書寫甚至默寫,要求“四會同步”。
四是方法不同:早期視語的發展是講究生活游戲中不知不覺耳濡目染,像學會聽話說話那樣不露痕跡的教學法;而中小學生識字一概是課堂教學,教師講學生聽,做作業、考試。
具體地說早期視覺語言發展的方法有四大類:
1、環境濡染教學法;
2、生活參與教學法;
3、游戲活動教學法;
4、趣味閱讀教學法;
如果你完全遵循以上的視語教學規律,那么每一個生理上正常發育的孩子一定能像學會說話、走路、認物,聽音樂一樣不知不覺地三四歲脫盲閱讀,五六歲博覽群書,毫無負擔和壓力,這是識字閱讀教學有史以來破天荒的重大創舉。

現在我們又找到了視覺語言發展的第五種方法,即《漢字宮》教學法。
四、讓個個孩子走進瑰麗多彩的漢字宮殿
由于兩種語言同步相似發展的理論非常超前,一般家庭也難以完全理解和適時實施,那么讓每個4~8歲的孩子早早走進瑰麗多彩的漢字宮殿,讓他們快快樂樂地認字一年左右(每天約半小時),掌握3000個常用和較常用漢字,進入低幼讀物的閱讀,并培養起非常愛書的美德,這在家庭、幼兒園和小學低年級教師的配合下達到這一目標是輕而易舉的。
《漢字宮》是一部大型科教藝術電視片。經白雙法教授數十年研究,貫誠華文公司投入巨資歷時5年拍攝完成。它創造性地運用影視故事的手法教孩子學漢字,是給孩子乃至家長和老師送去的“漢語有聲有色大字典”。

基于以上五大優點,我們應當讓每個3~9歲的孩子走進漢字宮殿,跟隨漢字爺爺進行一年的識字旅游,奠定人生和人才一項重要的基礎素質工程同時,也讓孩子享受童年的一大樂事。
五、名人最初的足跡留下的啟示
研究古今中外名人偉人成長的記錄無不具備三大特點,一是自幼培養起遠大理想志氣,良好性格和做大事的氣概;二是他們的童年和青少年生活豐富多彩,有可貴的實踐和歷煉;第三則是他們自幼識字愛書,并且兒童少年期即博覽群書。??可以這么說,以上三者是人才金鼎之三足,缺一而不可立。
但以上三者不是割裂、分離的,是你中有我我中有你,如良好的性格習慣更讓孩子興致勃勃地做事和讀書,而閱讀好書又指導和豐富了孩子的生活,陶冶了性格,培養了志氣。當今社會顯然孩子們的閱讀能力、閱讀習慣和閱讀量太低了,究其原因,一是識字滯后發展,孩子沒有讀書的興趣;二是影視生活和電腦游戲占去了孩子太多的課余時間;三是教學中教師講課多,滿堂灌,沒有指導孩子讀書,加之作業負擔太重;四是成年人也大多不愛閱讀,給了孩子耳濡目染的壞影響。這樣國家規定的義務教育期間9年內每個學生應讀2000萬字的閱讀量遠遠沒有完成,學生的視覺語言、內部語言怎能發達,視野和知識面怎能廣闊,所獲信息怎能豐富而廣泛地鏈接呢?怎樣又能養成一生愛書,博覽群書的良好習慣呢?
再看看中外名人的閱讀,我們將受到怎樣的啟示:
德國、卡爾·威特4歲閱讀。8歲懂6國文字,14歲獲博士學位,16歲任柏林大學教授,是法學、但丁學權威。
控制論創始人維納,4歲大量閱讀,7歲讀但丁和達爾文專著,12歲上大學。大詩人,思想家歌德,4歲廣泛閱讀,8歲讀懂5國文字。英國“電波之父”麥克思韋,童年生活豐富,又能大量閱讀。
達爾文,四五歲識字讀書,非常熱愛大自然,青年時代周游世界,是“進化論”的創始人。
張衡,中國古代大科學家,幼年識字。10歲博覽群書,自學天文地理,發明地震儀等有多項杰出科研成果。
唐初四杰之一王勃6歲寫文章,“構思無滯,詞情英邁”。15歲寫出千古名篇《滕王閣序》。
駱賓王,6歲寫《詠鵝》詩。李白,“五歲誦六甲,十歲觀百家”。
白居易:“七齡思即壯,開口誦鳳凰”即寫《鳳凰》詩。杜甫:6歲顯露詩才,9歲通聲律,13歲寫“離離原上草,一歲一枯榮??”千古名篇。
大詩人黃庭堅5歲熟讀五經,后又讀《春秋》十日成誦,7歲寫牧童詩:“騎牛遠遠過前村,吹笛橫斜隔垅聞,多少長安名利落,機關用盡不如君”,小小年紀對當時社會有如此灼見。
歷史上曹植、李賀、陸游及唐宋八大家都因早期識字閱讀習作而嶄露頭角,柳宗元4歲讀完家里父親留下的全部藏書。明代醫圣李時珍很小讀完《釋鳥》、《釋獸》等難懂的書,還認識父親行醫的大量湯頭藥方。
清代大學者顧炎武6歲讀完《大學》,10歲攻讀《孫子》、《吳子》等兵書,及《左傳》、《戰國策》等史書。
梁啟超4歲讀四書、6讀完五經、11歲考中秀才。楊洲八怪之首鄭板橋6歲熟讀四書五經。
近代氣象學家竺可楨、畫家齊白石、詩人黃遵憲,畫家徐悲鴻,革命先軀李大釗、卓越領導人周恩來,任弼時,還有魯迅、郭沫若、聞一多、沈從文、起樹理、熊慶來等文學家都是自幼酷愛識字讀書的,把名家的思維流變為自己的思維流,吸收知識和新思想,加以創造因而成為大學問家。
最后,還要介紹一個世界著名的民族,猶太民族給人類的啟發,猶太民族人口并不多,不到一千萬,可是出了像馬克思、愛因斯坦、達爾文、弗洛依德等等大科學家大名家,一個多世紀來,全世界獲得諾貝爾科學獎的僅600余人,猶太人(不足我們一個大城市人口多)卻奪得了120多個,真是令人瞠目!究其原由是猶太人重視早期教育,重視行為規范又特別重視識字閱讀,所以猶太人歷史上沒有文盲,個個從小愛書讀書。據統計14歲以上猶太人平均每月看一本新書,這是何等巨大的信息量!我們從這里想開去,如果中國13億人口都消除了文盲、半文盲,人人會自學,思考和創新,那么我國的人才群體會像太空的星云那樣密集。視覺語言理論和《漢字宮》定將促進我國在不久的將來進入這個偉大的理想境界。
