一種幫助學生學習定語從句的游戲
看過《三星智力快車》或者李詠主持的《幸運52》節目的人都了解一種游戲:一個比劃一個猜。就是兩個人配合,一個人面對屏幕、另一個人背對屏幕,面對屏幕的來比劃或者解釋屏幕上出現的某種事物,背對屏幕的那個人則要根據同伴的解釋或者比劃猜出它的名稱。我把這種游戲應用到了我們的英語課堂,目的是來提高學生運用英語來解釋周圍事物的能力和練習使用定語從句來進行描述的能力。我們第一次玩這種游戲,所以規定所猜的單詞必須是教室范圍以內的;游戲的組織比較簡單,全班分幾個小組,老師在屏幕上打上一個單詞,然后由面對屏幕的同學用英語來進行解釋,解釋對了而且同伴答對了,加一分,如果使用定語從句進行解釋,就再加一分;因為是比賽,所以進行的比較激烈,有兩位同學在幾分鐘之內得了8分。

第一次做游戲,老師可以做一下model,或者是進行demonstration,幫助學生學習使用定語從句進行描述和解釋。這種活動有以下幾個優點:
1、鍛煉學生英語思考的能力--They need to think in English
2、鍛煉學生英語表達的能力--They need to speak in English
3、鍛煉學生進行交際的能力--They need to communicate with each other in English
4、鍛煉學生學以致用的能力--They need to use what they have just learned
5、...缺點:同學們同時進行參與的范圍比較小,大多數同學只是做了觀眾。課堂上難以提供充足的時間。
運用任務型教學理念教學定語從句的示例 任務
一、競猜游戲 適用對象:初三學生 活動形式:6~8人小組活動
情境設置:教師先對教室里的人、事或物進行口頭描述。學生聽后作出口頭反應。例如: T:Sheisagirlwhogotthreegoldmedalsinthelastsportsmeet.:WuYan.T:Right.Nowanotherone.ItisabookthatcantellyouthemeaningofnewwordswhenyoustudyEnglish.:Adictionary.游戲規則:游戲分初賽和復賽;初賽后每組選出優秀選手3人參加復賽。為了使任務更加有趣,組員每猜中一次可得一分;教師將學生猜中的人或物寫在黑板上,以防重復猜測;最后角逐出前三名,并予以獎勵。時間:8~10分鐘。操作步驟:
教師布置任務,講清游戲規則; 學生活動,教師當裁判并維持秩序; 角逐出復賽選手,復賽后予以獎勵。注重事項:
學生熟悉了該游戲后,教師可以加大游戲的難度。教師可以聯系學生的實際,拓寬要猜測的人、事或物的范圍。教師事先預備一些圖畫、照片或卡片,將學生分為兩組:一組描述,另一組猜測。例如:

二、找同伴練習說英語 適用對象:高一年級
活動形式:教師課堂上布置任務,學生課下完成;教師指定一學生將信息表編號,并貼在墻上;學生課后閱讀,下一節課向全班匯完成任務的情況。
情境設置:假如你是一位高一英語教師,新學期伊始,你想讓學生在課堂上“結對子”練習說英語。為此,你讓學生填寫以下調查表,簡單介紹自己的愛好和愛好,并注明自己想與哪種類型的學生坐在一起。表2尋找學習伙伴 附圖 實施規則:
學生應對自己的情況多作一些描述,以免找不到理想的學習伙伴。
學生可在課下收集一些描述喜好的形容詞或動詞短語,以作備用。選擇學習同伴時,學生所用的語言不可有歧視他人的意味。例如,Idon’tliketositwiththosewhoarefromthecountryside./Idisliketositwithstudentswhoarestupid.將所有的信息表編號,并貼在墻上。學生課下閱讀,每人為同學結一兩個對子,上課時向全班匯。比如:

教師應給學生講清活動的目的與意義,以引起學生的重視;
教師可以適當地給學生提供一些語言上的幫助。任務
三、到車站接人 適用對象:初三或高中各年級
活動形式:教師設置車站接人的情景。師生通過打電話進行互動。
情景設置:你的外籍教師正在郊區踏青,他以前的一個學生Bill今天下午3點要來看望他,Bill的火車14:30到站,而你的老師15:30才能趕回家,所以請你到火車站接Bill。示例:

教師應對學生在完成任務過程中所出現的語言錯誤,非凡是口語方面的錯誤采取寬容的態度;否則學生會喪失信心。但是對于學生所犯的較為嚴重的語言錯誤,教師應巧妙或委婉地給予糾正。例如,在學生完成任務的過程中,筆者發現,有少數學生描述時用錯甚至漏掉了關系代詞who/that,或忘記省去與先行詞意義對等的名詞或代詞。比如: HeistheteacherwhichalwaystalksaboutDNAinclass.SheisthegirlherfavouritesingerisLiuDehua.Heisthemanlikestoplaytheflute.Itisthecityinwhichthe29thOlympicGameswillbeheldinit.對此,筆者先讓出錯的學生再重復一遍錯誤的話語,看他/她能否意識到并糾正自己的語言錯誤,或提問其他學生:Whatdidhe/shesay?讓其他學生幫助糾正。
任務的設計要符合學生的實際情況。以上介紹的“任務一”比較適合初三學生,因為初三學生剛接觸定語從句,教師可以用該任務引出定語從句的概念,并讓學生學會正確使用關系代詞。“任務二”比較適合高中學生,因為高中學生在初三時學習了定語從句,有了一定的基礎;這個任務不僅能幫助學生正確使用關系代問和關系副問,而且更加強調表達的流暢性和準確性。
教師可以讓學生單獨或在小組內完成某一任務。任務可以在課前、課中或課后完成,任務的形式可以是筆頭或口頭。教師還應尊重學生的個性,不強其所難,適當改變任務的形式。由于自身知識與能力的局限,部分教師無法找出語法項目的功能與學生實際生活的結合點,無法獨自設計語法教學任務。這就要求教師不斷學習,相互協作。比如,同一備課組的教師平時要注重收集一些任務,然后加以改編和使用;也可以建立相關語法教學任務的資料庫,收集、改編或設計一些供平時教學使用的任務。
