有關英語課堂用語的學習材料
最近我在瀏覽天河部落時,多次在一些貼子上看到了老師們常提到的關于老師的語言素養。其中提得最多的是課堂的組織需要老師用簡單、清晰、準確和生動的語言,尤其是針對低、中年級的學生,顯得特別重要。從而,自己在備課和上課,甚至在聽課的過程中也會特別注意課堂用語的使用,使自己更深刻地意識到課堂用語在英語課中的重要性。恰好自己又看到了這一篇論文,關于英語教師課堂用語存在的問題及對策。下面是文中的一些觀點:
一、課堂用語存在的問題
1、課堂用語不規范,說話錯誤多
教師的教學語言是學生學習的樣板,要想培養學生正確使用語言的良好習慣,教師首先應當給學生作出榜樣,外語教師尤應如此。可惜課堂上,一不小心就會出現一些不規范的語言:
詞序不對Can you guess what does it mean?

詞形不準 Let's see the two sentence.Let's see the two sentences.搭配不對 Look at here.Look here.語態不通 The letter “ a ” pronounces.The letter “ a ” is pronounced 以上列舉的各類錯誤,有些是因教師說話過快,而出現的種種口誤。如名詞的單復數,賓語從句的詞序,動詞短語的搭配等。
2、課堂用語不系統,說話隨意性大
教學大綱指出:“為了使學生的英語與客觀事物建立直接聯系,提高英語教學效果,在英語教學中要盡量使用英語。
教師課堂用語隨意性大,隨意性的表現形式
講中文不講英文(”再來一次。“ ”看看哪個同學坐得最好。“ ”家庭作業,89頁第三題。“ ”打開書,翻到45 頁。“)
半中文半英文
中文式的英文(”Together answer.“ ”Give you five minutes to read the dialogue.“)
時而英文,時而中文。嚴格地講,這些教師還沒有養成用英語表達思想的語言習慣。
3、課堂用語不活潑,說話單調
語言的表達應該是豐富多采的。課堂上的表現情況不同,教師的評價語也應有層次變化。老用一個詞,老唱一種調,語言就乏味,也不利于調動學生的積極性,更不利于學生的口語發展。在課堂上我們經常聽到如下一些千篇一律的用語。如:表揚學生、提示學生注意、提問學生是否理解、叫學生口譯中文句子、任意一種場合都是 Good!Pay attention to....Understand? How to say...? OK, Right.以上列舉的這些課堂用語在目前課堂上出現的頻率相當高。一位廣州特約教研員曾做過統計:一堂課中有一位教師說了240次”OK“。湊巧的是,筆者在一次聽課中也發現了一位滿口是”OK“的教師。15分鐘的單詞教學中他竟說了120次”OK“。在很多情景中,這些教師愛用的高頻率詞匯并沒有錯。然而,情況是變化的。學生在課堂上的表現不同,我們的課堂用語也應該有所不同。例如對學生的回答做肯定的評價。教師可以說That's it.That's right.Good!Very good!Exactly!Great!Great job!Super!等。根據學生的不同表現,教師使用不同的課堂語言。這樣,學生才會因得到一個中肯、客觀的評價,而受到激勵和鼓舞。教師的課堂用語才會顯得生動活潑。
4、課堂用語不通俗,說話費解
口語有別于書面語,用詞要簡單,說話要明了。對于外語教師來說,我們所講的課堂用語要適合學生的實際水平,用學生熟悉的詞匯來組織課堂教學。能用小詞”small word“ 流利地表達思想是一門藝術。如:有一位老師在向學生解釋”think“一詞時,他的語言就值得我們借鑒:
”I see with my eyes.I hear with my ears.I walk with my legs.I speak with my mouth.I think with my head.“
二、針對存在問題的對策
當然,對于開始用英語來組織課堂教學的我們(non native-speaker teachers of English)來說,出現了本文中提到的種種情況,是一個不可避免的階段,但通過觀察、分析和比較,探究如何克服這些課堂用語中出現的毛病乃至最大限度地縮短這個課堂用語的”中介語階段“,是有必要的。為此,需要注意下面四個方面的問題。
1、端正認識
用英語組織教學,對于青年教師來說,有一定的基礎。主要解決的是一個認識問題。要在思想上重視它,注意課堂用語的系統性、規范性、交際性和針對性。對于部分口語有一定的困難的中老年教師來說,用英語組織教學,首先要消除自卑感,在實踐中樹立自信心。先備好、講熟最常用的課堂用語。在此基礎上,日積月累,逐漸達到熟練的境地。
2、處理好兩個關系
首先是英語和母語的關系。課堂教學中一定要堅持盡量使用英語的原則。利用學生已學的英語來解釋或介紹新的教學內容,以便在真實的教學情景中增強學生運用英語的能力。但在教語法和講解抽象名詞時,可適當利用母語。用英語來概括這個關系就是:”Speak English if possible, speak Chinese if necessary.“ 其次是課堂用語中準確與流利的關系。準確指的是我們用語言表達思想的正確程度(包括語音、語法、用詞和語體的正確);而流利則是指我們表達思想時的流利性。長期以來,教師對學生口語練習中出現的錯誤,是有錯必糾。過分強調語言形式的掌握及語言準確的訓練,使不少學生因怕講錯而不敢開口。與此相反,我們不少教師的課堂用語則是流利有余,而準確不足。在聽課中,我們發現部分教師的課堂用語聽起來似乎很流利。但語音、語法錯誤,邏輯性的錯誤卻比比皆是。有些”低級錯誤“甚至連聽課的學生也能指出來。這種以犧牲語言表達的準確性,來追求”流利“的現象當然不可取。因為,教師的不規范語言直接影響學生的理解和領悟程度。
3、擴大課堂用語的交際性
課堂用語的交際性,目前還遠遠沒有體現出來。不少教師把課堂用語的使用僅僅局限在少數幾句課堂用語中。不敢越雷池半步。放棄了許多師生可以用英語進行交際的機會。例如,上課前如果發現班上新添了一面球賽錦旗,教師就可以用英語向學生了解球賽的簡單情況,并向學生表示祝賀。又如,教師找到了一本好的工具書,就可以用英語向學生簡要地推介或回答學生的提問。有些教師擔心學生的水平還不夠。其實,學生對這種真實的言語交際活動很感興趣。關鍵是教師敢不敢于挑戰自己,有沒有這種擴大言語交際的意識。還有一些教師擔心這樣做會影響教學進度。從教學目的是交流的觀點來看,這種擔心也是多余的。最新的理論表明,真實的語言交際活動是學生認知語言的重要渠道。
4、虛心學習,敢于實踐
對于我們每一位英語教師來說,課堂用語所追求的不是最好,而是更好。幾乎每一位教師都面臨一個”學習--實踐--提高“的問題。那么,怎樣提高我們教師自身的口語表達能力呢?筆者認為,一要虛心學習,二要敢于實踐。虛心學習,首先指的是向書本學習。課堂用語涉及到英語教學體系和專業知識分類的框架。不讀一些專業的書籍和刊物,不熟悉一些課堂用語詞匯,課堂上就會出現講”外行話“的現象。其次,要向他人學習,向那些課堂用語講得準確、流利的老師學習。特別要爭取機會聽外籍教師的課,注意他們在不同的課堂情景中的語言表達方式。還可以有目的地收看教育電視臺播放的優秀課例,注意從教學效果的角度揣摩其課堂語言特點,從中吸取養分提高自己的課堂用語水平。除了虛心學習,還要大膽實踐。把學到的東西運用到自己的課堂教學中來。這樣,也只有這樣,我們的課堂用語才會規范、流暢、富有變化。
三、結束語
根據教育學理論,教師的語言能力,尤其是課堂組織教學中使用的語言能力,將在很大程度上決定教師課堂教學的效果。由”應試教育"向全面素質教育轉變,從某種意義上來說,關鍵是提高教師的素質。一個外語教師課堂語言質量實際上就是教師基本素質的縮影,讓我們不斷提高自己的語言使用能力,為把自身素質提高到一個更新的層次而努力吧。
