The old man and the sea In the past a few days, we learned something about a novel called the old man and the sea, after learning it, I have some thoughts about it.The story introduced an old experienced fisherman to us.His name is Santiago.He has not caught any fish for 84 days, so the 85th day, he went to the deep sea, trying to get some fish.It was a hard time when Santiago floated on the sea for almost 3 days in order to catch a big fish called marlin.Finally, he made it.But unfortunately, the smell of blood attracted a lot of sharks.At last, all his effort to drive away the sharks was in vain.His marlin was eaten up, and he still got nothing.Although the consequence was not so good, I still believe that Santiago is a real hero.A hero, not means that he is never afraid of anything, but means that he is really afraid, but he never gives up.This is hero.In addition, his words in this story also impressed me a lot.He said,“man is not made for defeat, a man can be destroyed, but not defeatded.’’ Perhaps we wish that everything can go well in our daily lives, but as we know, it is only a wish.We are sure to meet some trouble in our whole lives, so we must be brave.We can never give up.No matter how old we are, no matter how unlucky we are, no matter how hard the problems are, we are expected to solve those problems bravely, and never say:“no”.Of course, now we are college students, we may have not met any problems that were really difficult to solve.But if we enter the society after a few years, we have to face some trouble which will make you lose your head.Then will you give up? The novel tells a story that an old man almost sixty years went to sea and fished alone in Santiago.The old fisherman had got nothing for eighty-four days and he almost died because of hunger.However, contrary to common people`s thought, he did not give up.In the eighty-fifth day, he fished a huge marlin whose body was eighteen feet in length, 1500 pounds in weight.The fish was so large that none of the Santiago`s fisherman had had got one.The old man fight with the large marlin for 3 days without any food, water and arms, and finally killed it.But, in the back journey, lots of small sharks ate out the marlin.As a result, the old man came back Santiago with the big marlin skeleton frame.I think every reader will be deeply moved by the old fisherman as me.On the one hand, I am sympathy of his failure.On the other hand, I have a great esteem for the old man`s persistence and courage.Although he became old and failed, he still made great efforts and showed a positive attitude on failure.The novel shows us an outlook on life of striving——faced with the unconquerable nature, humans still can win in spirit.Maybe the result is failure, in the process of striving, however, we can see a man of indomitable spirit.

Book Review: The Old Man And The Sea This is a great book, mind you.How I gave opinions to that is the spirits of Santiago greatly affected me.But the author, Earnest Hemingway said if his writing is really good, then the characters can also be many other things.Santiago is a common fisherman, and he hadn't had a fish for 84 days.And this time when he left he fished a big salmon by himself.He fought the fish for 3 days and nights and finally he kills it.He called it his 'brother'.But he then had to fight the sharks and finally he gone home with a fish spine, and some fish bones.I could find his great spirits of never giving up.particularly if he jus loose the grip of the fishing pole and let the fish go, he wouldn't have any trouble, but he can stay to the end.Something I regret to tell you is that I didn't read this book very carefully, so I intend to tell you I want to read this book again and tell you what I've gained through the second-time reading.今晚睡覺前，Alex花了二十分鐘草草寫下此文，寫作長度和速度還要加強，而且還有不少語法小錯誤呵，英文讀后感:老人與海，讀后感《英文讀后感:老人與海》。自覺要求再讀第二遍，值得表揚，繼續努力吧！
