I felt shy, I felt embarrassed.And then my question became, am I the only one who does this? So, I decided to investigate.I'm fortunate enough to work in the rehab facility, so I get to see people who are facing life and death with addiction.And sometimes it comes down to something as simple as, their core wound is their father died without ever saying he's proud of them.But then, they hear from all the family and friends that the father told everybody else that he was proud of him, but he never told the son.It's because he didn't know that his son needed to hear it.So my question is, why don't we ask for the things that we need? I know a gentleman, married for 25 years, who's longing to hear his wife say, “Thank you for being the breadwinner, so I can stay home with the kids,” but won't ask.I know a woman who's good at this.She, once a week, meets with her husband and says, “I'd really like you to thank me for all these things I did in the house and with the kids.” And he goes, “Oh, this is great, this is great.” And praise really does have to be genuine, but she takes responsibility for that.And a friend of mine, April, who I've had since kindergarten, she thanks her children for doing their chores.And she said, “Why wouldn't I thank it, even though they're supposed to do it?” So, the question is, why was I blocking it? Why were other people blocking it? Why can I say, “I'll take my steak medium rare, I need size six shoes,” but I won't say, “Would you praise me this way?” And it's because I'm giving you critical data about me.I'm telling you where I'm insecure.I'm telling you where I need your help.And I'm treating you, my inner circle, like you're the enemy.Because what can you do with that data? You could neglect me.You could abuse it.Or you could actually meet my need.And I took my bike into the bike store--I love this--same bike, and they'd do something called “truing” the wheels.The guy said, “You know, when you true the wheels, it's going to make the bike so much better.” I get the same bike back, and they've taken all the little warps out of those same wheels I've had for two and a half years, and my bike is like new.So, I'm going to challenge all of you.I want you to true your wheels: be honest about the praise that you need to hear.What do you need to hear? Go home to your wife--go ask her, what does she need?Go home to your husband--what does he need? Go home and ask those questions, and then help the people around you.And it's simple.And why should we care about this? We talk about world peace.How can we have world peace with different cultures, different languages? I think it starts household by household, under the same roof.So, let's make it right in our own backyard.And I want to thank all of you in the audience for being great husbands, great mothers, friends, daughters, sons.And maybe somebody's never said that to you, but you've done a really, really good job.And thank you for being here, just showing up and changing the world with your ideas.Thank you.(Applause)

The night before I was heading for Scotland, I was invited to host the final of “China's Got Talent” show in Shanghai with the 80,000 live audience in the stadium.在我去蘇格蘭的前一晚，中國達(dá)人秀邀請我 到上海主持總決賽 體育館的現(xiàn)場有八萬名觀眾.Guess who was the performing guest? So today I want to talk about young people through the platform of social media.所以今天我想通過社交媒體的平臺說說我們的年起人First of all, who are they? So making a living is not that easy for young people.College graduates are not in short supply.In urban areas, college graduates find the starting salary is about 400 U.S.dollars a month, while the average rent is above $500.所以對于年輕人而言，生活并不是容易。本科畢業(yè)生也不在是緊缺資源。在城市中，本科生的月起薪通常是400美元（2500人民幣），而公寓的平均月租金卻是500美元。So what do they do? Among the 200 million migrant workers, 60 percent of them are young people.They find themselves sort of sandwiched between the urban areas and the rural areas.Most of them don't want to go back to the countryside, but they don't have the sense of belonging.在近兩億的涌入城市的農(nóng)民工中，他們中的60％都是年輕人。他們發(fā)現(xiàn)自己被夾在了城市和農(nóng)村中，大多數(shù)人不愿意回到農(nóng)村，但他們在城市也找不到歸屬感。They work for longer hours with less income, less social welfare.And they're more vulnerable to job losses, subject to inflation, tightening loans from banks, appreciation of the renminbi, or decline of demand from Europe or America for the products they produce.他們工作更長的時間卻獲得更少的薪水和社會福利。他們也更容易面臨失業(yè)，受到通貨膨脹，銀行利率，人民幣升值的影響，甚至美國和歐盟對于中國制造產(chǎn)品的抵制也會影響到他們。Last year, though, an appalling incident in a southern OEM manufacturing compound in China: 13 young workers in their late teens and early 20s committed suicide, just one by one like causing a contagious disease.But they died because of all different personal reasons.But this whole incident aroused a huge outcry from society about the isolation, both physical and mental, of these migrant workers.去年，一個駭人的事件發(fā)生在中國的一個富士康工廠，十三20出頭的年輕的人連續(xù)自殺，一個接一個，像一場傳染病。他們輕生的原因各有不同，但是這件事震驚了整個社會，喚起人們對工人們心理生理的孤立關(guān)注。

For those who do return back to the countryside, they find themselves very welcome locally, because with the knowledge, skills and networks they have learned in the cities, 對于那些回到農(nóng)村的年輕人，他們發(fā)現(xiàn)自己在家鄉(xiāng)很受歡迎，因為他們有知識技能和人際網(wǎng)，他們在城市學(xué)到了技能，with the assistance of the Internet, they're able to create more jobs, upgrade local agriculture and create new business in the less developed market.So for the past few years, the coastal areas, they found themselves in a shortage of labor.在互聯(lián)網(wǎng)的幫助下，他們更有可能獲得工作，提升農(nóng)村的農(nóng)業(yè)水平和發(fā)展新的商業(yè)機會。在過去的一些年中，一些沿海的城鎮(zhèn)甚至出現(xiàn)了勞動力短缺。

So happiness is the most popular word we have heard through the past two years.Happiness is not only related to personal experiences and personal values, but also, it's about the environment.“幸福（感）”是近兩年中國的流行詞匯。幸福感不僅僅與個人體驗和價值觀相關(guān)，更多的，它與環(huán)境息息相關(guān)。People are thinking about the following questions: Are we going to sacrifice our environment further to produce higher GDP? 假如你即將死去，并且糟到只能打一個電話，你會打給誰？說些什么？你到底在等什么？

有天晚上，我重拾一本我曾讀過的書，內(nèi)容是有關(guān)為人父母的種種，這種書我已看過幾百本，而我覺得有種罪惡感，因為那本書描述了一些為人父母該使用，而我卻從未使用的策略。主要的策略是和你的小孩交談，使用三個神奇字：“我愛你。”這句話已被強調(diào)過無數(shù)次，那就是：孩子必須知道無論在任何情況下，你是的的確確、真正地愛著他們。

我上樓走到兒子的房門前敲了門。敲門時只聽到他的鼓聲。我知道他在房里，但他卻沒有應(yīng)門。所以我打開門，不出所料，他正坐在那里，戴著耳機，邊聽錄音帶邊敲他的鼓，我靠過去引起他的注意，開口說：“提姆，你有空嗎？”

他說：“哦，當(dāng)然有，爹地，我一直很閑。”我們煞有介事地坐下，但在15分鐘內(nèi)只有一些瑣碎、支支吾吾的交談。我只好看著他說：“提姆，我真地很喜歡你打鼓的樣子。”

他說：“哦，謝謝你，爹地，我很感激。”

我走出他的房門說：“等會兒見！”當(dāng)我下樓時，突然記起上樓是為了某些想法，而我并沒有傳達(dá)。我覺得有必要回到樓上，找機會說出那三個神奇的字。

我又爬上樓，敲了門然后打開。“提姆，你有空嗎？”

“當(dāng)然羅，爹地。我當(dāng)然有空。有事嗎？”

“兒子，我剛才上來是為了和你分享一些事，但不知怎么的，說了一些不是我想說的。提姆，你記得以前你學(xué)開車時，給我?guī)砗芏嗦闊﹩幔课覍懥巳齻€字塞在你的枕頭里希望你會留意。身為父母，我已表達(dá)了我對你的愛。”最后又聊了一會，我看著提姆說：“我要你知道我們都很愛你。”

他看著我說：“哦，謝謝你，爹地。你是說你和媽媽嗎？”

我說：“是啊，是我們兩個，我們都表達(dá)得不夠。”

他說：“謝謝，那對我來說意義重大，我知道你們很愛我。”

我轉(zhuǎn)身走出房門。下樓時，我開始想：“我真不敢相信！我已經(jīng)上樓二次了——我明知自己要傳達(dá)的是什么，但為何老是顧左右而言他？”

我決定立刻回到樓上，讓提姆知道我真實的感受。這次他會直接從我口中聽到那三個字。我不在乎他現(xiàn)在已6尺高了！所以我走回去，敲了門，聽到他在里面喊：“等一下，別告訴我是誰。該不會又是你吧，爹地？”

我說：“你怎么知道是我？”他回答道：“爹地，我認(rèn)識你已不是一兩天了。”

然后我說：“兒子，能不能再給我一點時間？”

“你知道我隨時奉陪，進來吧！我猜你剛才并沒有把你想說的話說出來吧？”

我說：“你怎么知道？”

“打從我包尿布時期我就認(rèn)識你了。”

我說：“唔，提姆，這也就是我一直想說而沒說出口的。我只是想讓你知道，對我們家而言，你有多特別！我們愛你并不是因為你曾經(jīng)做過什么偉大的事，而只是因為你是我們的兒子。我愛你，而且我只想讓你知道我愛你。我實在不懂為何這么重要的話我一直藏在心里。”

他看著我說：“嘿，爹地，我都了解，聽到你這么說感覺真的很特別，謝謝你的想法和努力嘗試。”當(dāng)我即將跨出房門，他說：“哦，爹地，耽誤你一分鐘。”

我心里開始想：“糟了！他要對我說什么？”嘴上卻說：“哦，當(dāng)然沒問題。”

我不知道孩子們從哪里學(xué)來這個，但我確定絕非來自父母，他卻說道：“爹地，我只想問你一個問題。”

我說：“什么問題？”

他看了我一下說：“爹，你是不是去參加了研習(xí)會還是什么的？”

我腦中閃過：“慘了，就像其他18歲的小伙子，他已洞悉我的心理。”我回答“不，我只是看了一本書，書上說告訴孩子你的真正感受是很重要的。”

“嘿，謝謝你花了這么多時間，待會兒再談，爹地。”

我認(rèn)為提姆給了我一些啟示：要明了愛的真正意義及目的，唯一方法就是愿意付出代價。我必須勇敢地跨出第一步。

第四篇：別吝嗇那鼓勵的話

一個眼神，一句話語都可能改變一種狀態(tài)或者一種人生。千萬不要吝嗇那善意的眼神、鼓勵的話語。給人一種自信的力量，也許歷史就會重新改寫。

羅杰.羅爾斯是紐約州的第53任州長，也是紐約歷史上的第一位黑人州長。他出生在一個貧民窟，這里環(huán)境骯臟，充滿暴力，孩子們從小耳濡目染，逃學(xué)、打架、偷竊甚至吸毒，長大后極少有人獲得比較好的職業(yè)。然而羅杰.羅爾斯例外。這得感謝他小學(xué)的一位校長----皮爾.保羅。皮爾.保羅想了很多辦法來引導(dǎo)這群孩子，可是沒有一個有效。后來他發(fā)現(xiàn)孩子們很迷信。于是他上課就多了一項內(nèi)容----給學(xué)生看手相。當(dāng)羅爾斯從窗臺上跳下，伸著小手走近講臺時，皮爾.保羅說：“我一看你修長的小拇指就知道，將來你是紐約州的州長。”我真佩服皮爾.保羅，他是一個稱職而又認(rèn)真的老師，他能絞盡腦汁、想盡辦法來引導(dǎo)孩子，居然想出看手相的法子，真是高明。而且他善于了解孩子，知道他們最喜歡什么，最熱衷什么，一針見血地教育他們，收到了事半功倍的效果。最值得贊揚和學(xué)習(xí)的是他面對比海明威“迷惘的一代”還要無所事事、不與老師合作、曠課、斗毆甚至處處搞破壞的孩子，從不輕言放棄，就在想盡辦法之后，依然關(guān)心他們，了解他們，用他那鼓勵的話語激勵著他們。“你將來是紐約州的州長”他的這句話讓羅杰.羅爾斯大吃一驚，因為長這么大，只有奶奶使他振奮過，說他可以成為五噸重的小船的船長。這一次校長先生竟然說他可以成為紐約州的州長，著識出乎他的預(yù)料。他記下了這句話，相信了這句話。從那天起，“紐約州州長”就像一面旗幟，在以后的40多年間，他沒有一天不按州長的身份要求自己，于是在他51歲那年，他真的成了州長。

試想，假如沒有這位校長的這一句話，羅杰.羅爾斯也許就成了流氓、地痞，更別提什么州長了。假如他碰到的不是皮爾.保羅，而是一個一般的、普通的老師，想不出那么好的金點子，只是一味地抱怨這批孩子教不好，嘗試各種手段都無濟于事之后放棄了，那么羅杰.羅爾斯只能與流浪人同流合污。如果說“人類的本質(zhì)中最殷切的需求就是渴望被肯定”，那么我們并不一定要大張旗鼓或者用高昂的物質(zhì)去獎勵，有時候一個真心誠意的舉動或者一分鐘的贊美，都會讓他人心中充滿暖意。“好風(fēng)憑借力，送我上青云”愿我們所有的教師嘴巴里都能多吹吹這一股好風(fēng)、暖風(fēng)。我們強勁的風(fēng)力，就是孩子們強大的動力，就是他們堅定不移的信念。也許你要問：信念值多少錢？告訴你信念不值錢，它甚至是一個善意的欺騙，然而你一旦堅持下去，它就會迅速升值。但愿我們留給孩子們的是比金錢更寶貴的東西。

別吝嗇你的微笑

尊敬的各位領(lǐng)導(dǎo)各位同事大家好：

我是來自餐飲部的胡香渝，今天我為大家演講的題目是“別吝嗇你的微笑”。俗話說“笑一笑十年少”微笑能使人變得美麗，微笑是溝通彼此心靈的無聲語言。

我們酒店來住的外賓很多，當(dāng)我們不能與外賓正常交流時。無聲的語言微笑就起了決定性的作用。當(dāng)他們走進百花園微笑的迎領(lǐng)客人，帶到相應(yīng)的位置坐下，再給客人倒茶遞熱毛巾時微笑加請的手勢客人就會明白你的用意。在為客人點菜時客人會在菜譜上點他所需要的菜品，這是你微笑的點點頭客人就會明白你已經(jīng)知道他需要的菜是什么。在給客人上菜的時微笑著端上他所需要的菜品，這時客人會滿意的點點頭在客人用完餐后他會簡單的“謝謝”來表示你的服務(wù)。只要不吝嗇你的微笑就算滿意流利的語言也是最好的服務(wù)。

我們臉上的微笑永遠(yuǎn)是屬于客人的陽光，在我們服務(wù)過程中要始終堅持“客人就是上帝、賓客至上、服務(wù)第一”的原則。更應(yīng)該充分的認(rèn)識和發(fā)揮微笑的作用，深入持久地開展微笑服務(wù)。
