《歌舞青春Ⅰ》是一部校園音樂電影。電影故事的男主角Troy Bolton是一個籃球天才，并擔任校籃球隊的隊長一職。在一次圣誕晚會上，與有著“愛因斯坦”稱號的女主角Gabriella Montez機緣巧合的完美的合唱了一首《Start Of Something New》,隨后女主角轉學于偶遇的男主角的學校，成為了同班同學。兩人都愛好唱歌，并希望參加學校本音樂劇主角的選拔活動，但各自同時又肩負著即將來臨的籃球賽和學術全能賽的任務，而做另一個全新的自己并不熟悉的事情，難易程度可想而知，他們為此徘徊不定。在輿論以及隊友施加壓力的種種困難下，追逐音樂的夢想最終使他們獲得了朋友的理解于支持，既獲得了音樂劇表演的資格，同時也各自在比賽中獲得了驕人的成績。電影最終以一場快樂的全體音樂舞蹈表演而告終。

作為一部校園音樂電影，其中歌曲演唱以及表演的部分，也是很大一個重頭戲。在洋溢著青春快樂，積極向上的氛圍中，每個角色都在恰當的時刻用音樂表達著自己的心情，《Get'cha Head In The Game 》、《What I've Been Looking For 》等歌曲完美的詮釋都很好的迎合了觀眾的胃口。歌曲的選取也做到了恰到好處，真正的通過音樂的輔助表達引起了大家的共鳴。可以說作為一部校園題材的電影，將劇情、音樂和主題結合的如此恰到好處，在近些年的電影中十分難得。
當然一部成功的電影不乏也存在一些不足之處，電影中某些的劇情處理的過于簡單。比如主角在面臨比賽與音樂劇角色選拔沖突時，他們采取的是破壞比賽計時器以及在實驗中釋放有毒物體以此使比賽暫停一段落。這樣的劇情安排不免有些荒誕不符合現實，不過還是不影響電影的整體效果。
總而言之，《歌舞青春Ⅰ》本身也是一個音樂電影的全新嘗試，帶給我們不僅是青春的感動，更是通過簡單的劇情勾勒，輔以音樂表達的方式，在構建一個夢幻般的青春使命的后面，點燃了我們追夢的勇氣！
