實用英語---在美國不可不知道的100件事！

1.洗手間里的馬桶叫toilet。家里的洗手間叫bathroom。外面的洗手間叫restroom。

2.吃飯要給小費，一般給消費數(shù)額的10%--15%，快餐廳不給小費。

3.商店售貨員態(tài)度都特別好，第一句話是how are you today，這時應該很自然地回答good，她會說nice，然后說if there is any problem please let me know。買東西結賬之后要和他們說have a nice day，也許他們說在你前頭，那就說thank you，you too吧。

4.沒買東西也可以大方地走出去，他們會說thanks for coming，see you。

5.如果在一件商品前停留時間過長，售貨員會問你hows everything going on?我一般回答I“m fine thank you。

6.學校里黑人有的看起來很屌，有的很內向(表面很酷)，其實很好相處。正式叫法都用African American。我在中國學校學的也是這個，但一般都叫他們black(當然是認識以后)，negro是禁止的。

7.美國學校都用locker，如果你選了體育課你會有兩個locker，只歡迎保險柜上那種鎖，就是左轉右轉那種。

8.在美國刷卡或者用旅行支票要帶ID CARD。

9.YES PLEASE.NO THANK YOU。這兩個是配對的。切忌用混。

10.紅寶書或者各種詞匯書是沒用的。日常用語才是關鍵。

11.所有衛(wèi)生間里都有一次性馬桶紙和廁紙。

12.日常用品極其便宜。

13.白人很開放，韓國人很開放，墨西哥人很善良，黑人很熱情。

14.要熱情地告訴所有人中國怎么樣，因為他們什么都不知道。

15.別把校長看的太重要。這邊校長就跟普通教職工一樣。很和諧。

16.學會說各種NO。聽不懂說sorry然后再問一遍。

17.多吃蔬菜。蔬菜貴，肉便宜。

18.桌椅都是一體的，從正面右邊走向課桌，左邊坐不進去。[依學校不同可能有所不同]

19.別人打噴嚏可以說BLESS YOU。說了很熱情，不說很內向。

20.商店開門的時候要等下一個人接過門[如果后面有人]。前面人遞過來要說thank you。

21.插頭和中國有的不一樣，記得帶轉換器。

22.女生全化妝。歐洲美洲非洲女生會用除臭劑[可能有更隱晦的名字]

23.早晚洗澡。經常更換衣服。

24.書是循環(huán)用的，封面很破，里面嶄新。

25.女生生理期的說法:Im on my period。學校女生間常用My aunt flow is visiting我覺得這個太逗了。專用說法。I come into the menstruation。

26.衛(wèi)生巾是pad。國外女生一般用衛(wèi)生棉tampon，可以隨便游泳什么的，但容易發(fā)炎而且型號大的對處女有影響。

27.國外所有電影都很開放，各種廣告也是，第一個禮拜我很尷尬，后來就無所謂了。

28.樂于填寫商場里的各種地址登記和E-MAIL。因為他們會給你寄打折卡。

29.各種東西買的時候都收稅。我不知道別的州。得州是8.5%。但每個州應該都有那么幾天不收稅。

31.沒有人用洗衣皂洗衣服，沒有人做飯放味精。

32.紋身叫做tattoo。打耳洞叫做get ear pierced。這邊男男女女大部分都有。

33.女生必備晚禮服，建議在打折的時候買，同樣的裙子新上架一百多美金。打折的時候十美金，只要你不換學校，同樣的晚禮服不能穿兩次。男生必備西裝。

34.牙醫(yī)巨貴，而且不算在保險內。出國之前把牙該檢查檢查，做做窩溝封閉，避免蛀牙。

35.學習用品不便宜。那種小細條，透明。便條貼。上面能寫東西在這邊五個就要5.99美金。

36.很難見到made in USA.[除食品]我只見過made in China.made in Vietnam, made in Indonesia.made in Honduras.made in Taiwan.37.人字拖流行，英文叫flip-flops。英文解釋是穿在走路時會發(fā)出”flip-flop"的聲音---啪啪聲。

38.所有餐廳飲料都無限續(xù)杯。快餐店交錢拿杯子。飲料自己隨便打。大部分都是4美金大杯。

41.30歲以下女生請穿比基尼去各種游泳場所，不是說尺度特別大，但拒絕連體。

42.高中沒有校服，女生的衣服要蓋住胸以上。不允許吊帶。膝蓋以上十公分要蓋祝肚子要蓋祝教室內不允許化妝。

43.不允許在教學樓內用手機。各種攝像頭。沒有盲點。錄象里你用手機就要沒收。

44.加油站永遠沒有人屁顛屁顛跑過來為你服務，自己加油，自己付賬，加油站都有擦玻璃的一套東西，包括紙什么的，加油的時候可以順便把玻璃擦了。

45.上課所有人都積極爭著舉手回答問題。你會但是不舉手在美國是傻子。各種老師說我需要volunteer做演講。做題。都要自己主動舉手。

46.提前預習，老師不會講書上例題。

47.學校的冷氣永遠十分充足，上學帶外套。

48.老師永遠會讓你考試通過，但你一定要平時聽他的話。天天帶書。寫作業(yè)。不會也要算出錯誤答案。改正卷子

49.沒有人會借你作業(yè)抄。只能告訴你思路。同樣你也不要給別人抄作業(yè)。

50.不要接受別人給的藥或者糖，也不要給別人，因為可能是毒品，你承擔不了責任。也沒人承擔你的責任。

51.學校只有老師有校服，要在規(guī)定的日子穿著。學生有學校TEE。開學時穿，有活動的時候建議穿。

52.和不認識的人微笑說HI，和認識的人擁抱。或者說hows going。whats up。

53.中國學生書包背在屁股上。美國學生流行把書包帶盡量縮短。在這邊經常見到男生女生背的書包都是什么蜘蛛俠，海綿寶寶……

54.學校里永遠有各種穿著打扮。打著各種洞的人。他們其實人都特好。不要畏懼。

55.和你每堂課的同學打成一片，你們起起哄就沒有作業(yè)了。

56.IM SORRY。這句話分量特別重。

57.請學會用計算器。我指的是TI-84以上級別。

58.嚴格遵循各種老師布置的任務。家長簽字。準備照片什么的。所有的都算在你的成績里。

59.每天換衣服。要么就永遠穿一樣的。要么就請每天換。

60.在美國一定要看的懂橄欖球，就算看不懂也要學會當你們學校進攻的時候站起來尖叫，一起喊口號，隨著樂隊的歌曲扭。

61.開學頭一個禮拜如果覺得自己選的課不好要趕緊找自己的counselor換。要按照自己的喜好。和未來的發(fā)展方向選課。

62.男生上學穿著:TEE。牛仔褲。或者七分褲。我見過有人穿格子睡褲。我看見男生穿拖鞋。就是穿一白色襪子。然后穿一個ADIDAS的那種拖鞋。不是人字拖。美國男生也有非主流范。

63.美國學生的筆記本和中國不一樣。不建議帶各種本兒過來。這邊筆記本都是比A4小一點的紙。最左邊有三個孔。然后孔右邊有一條紅線。孔左邊是方便撕的那種虛線。老師收各種作業(yè)也都接收這種紙。因為可以把所有學生的作業(yè)都夾在一個文件夾里。BINDER!那個文件夾就是中間有三個金屬圓環(huán)可打開的那種。

64.GIVE ME FIVE。擊掌的意思。要使勁響亮。握手也是要使勁。

65.海綿寶寶的英文是sponge bob。

66.有一周是奇奇怪怪服裝周。SPIRIT DAY。我們就是開學第二周。每天有穿著的要求。比如周幾要把頭發(fā)弄得很奇怪。周幾要穿你們年級的顏色。周幾要穿各種不搭配的衣服。周幾要找個人穿雙胞胎衣服。之類的。我們還有一周是服裝周之類的。周一穿自己喜歡大學的東西。周二扮演在電視里看到的人物。周三要穿舊時代人的衣服。周四要扮NERD。

67.去國外要克制自己吃快餐，學校中午飯全是快餐。

68.各種作業(yè)都有DUE TIME。一定要在這個時間之前交，否則你的得分將不超過滿分的50%。

美國高中課程表--看看美國孩子學啥？

兒子今年秋天要上高中。學校給了一份完整的高中課程表，請家長去學校開會，Counselor單獨給每位學生及其家長提供咨詢，學生及其家長自己做決定，準備上什么課。我把課程表譯在此，供國內讀者參考。

很多課分榮譽課和普通課，前者即國內的好班，內容、進度和難度要大。初中成績在B以上的學生可進榮譽課，必須由初中任課老師評估，學生申請，家長簽字同意。也就是說，即使B以上的學生，自己決定是否上榮譽課。學生將來大學如果讀文科，或者學生想把更多的時間放在其他方面，他可能就不上數(shù)學或化學的榮譽課。課程表上有咨詢老師、所有科目主管老師和校長的電話。有問題，可打電話詢問。

高中畢業(yè)必須達到的學分：英語4，社會研究4，數(shù)學3，科學3，健康0·5，藝術1，外語1，體育2，選修3·5，總學分22。

社會研究即英語以外所有的文科課程，科學即數(shù)學以外所有的理工科課程。學分通常是一年一個學分，半年半個學分。
