了解口試評(píng)分原則與方法
在口試過(guò)程中口試教師依照口試評(píng)分標(biāo)準(zhǔn)進(jìn)行評(píng)分,而不對(duì)兩名考生的口試情況作任何比較。口試教師依照口試各節(jié)的全部考查內(nèi)容對(duì)考生進(jìn)行口語(yǔ)評(píng)價(jià),而且依照其中的某一部分獨(dú)立評(píng)分。
口試時(shí)由兩名口試教師對(duì)考生的口語(yǔ)能力進(jìn)行評(píng)價(jià)。不參與交談的教師根據(jù)評(píng)分標(biāo)準(zhǔn)中列出的四項(xiàng)內(nèi)容分項(xiàng)給分。參與交談的教師只給出一個(gè)綜合分。

當(dāng)然,不要期待每個(gè)口試教師都會(huì)千篇一律地用這種方式開(kāi)始面試,正像不要期待每個(gè)口試教師都用非常正式的問(wèn)題開(kāi)始提問(wèn)一樣,要準(zhǔn)備迎接各種不同的面孔和問(wèn)題,口試教師畢竟是人,不是機(jī)器。
2.口試教師的第二個(gè)目的,同時(shí)也是一個(gè)順理成章的結(jié)果,是得到有關(guān)考生英語(yǔ)水平的初步印象。這一印象對(duì)于考生的最后得分至關(guān)重要。因?yàn)楦鶕?jù)心理學(xué)測(cè)試的結(jié)果,一個(gè)有經(jīng)驗(yàn)的面試官可以在口試開(kāi)始后1-2分鐘之內(nèi)得出對(duì)考生評(píng)判的結(jié)論,而無(wú)需等到口試結(jié)束。在余下的時(shí)間里,口試教師多半都在按照自己初步結(jié)論的慣性思維,從考生的回答中有意無(wú)意地尋找符合自己所做結(jié)論的證據(jù)來(lái)進(jìn)一步證實(shí)自己的結(jié)論是正確的。其實(shí)這種思維方式不僅體現(xiàn)在各種口試中,也普遍存在于社會(huì)生活的方方面面,我們對(duì)于一個(gè)人或任何事物在最初接觸時(shí)形成的第一印象往往是很難改變的,除非發(fā)生什么戲劇性的情況,這種印象經(jīng)常是占據(jù)主導(dǎo)地位的。
這就意味著我們應(yīng)該特別注意對(duì)第一階段最初幾個(gè)問(wèn)題的回答,盡管它們都是非常簡(jiǎn)單的問(wèn)題,考生絕不能掉以輕心,忽視對(duì)這些簡(jiǎn)單問(wèn)題的回答。有些考生在回答這些簡(jiǎn)單問(wèn)題時(shí)甚至?xí)敢恍┑图?jí)錯(cuò)誤,給口試教師留下不好的第一印象,也影響了自己后面的正常發(fā)揮。例如:
i: “what do you do?”
c: “i’m talking with you.”
上面兩句中口試教師明明在問(wèn):“你是做什么的?”考生卻回答:“我正在跟你談話。”可以想像,這樣的回答會(huì)對(duì)考生產(chǎn)生多么不利的第一印象。
口語(yǔ)考試不僅應(yīng)該用口,還要用心回答每個(gè)問(wèn)題。在回答任何問(wèn)題時(shí),不要慌慌張張地急于切入主題,大腦中迅速思考一下這個(gè)問(wèn)題可能涉及到的后續(xù)問(wèn)題,盡量把話題引到自己比較熟悉而口試教師又可能感興趣的話題上,而不要匆忙中為自己設(shè)下一個(gè)陷阱。比如當(dāng)口試教師問(wèn)你曾經(jīng)做過(guò)哪些職業(yè)或從事過(guò)哪些業(yè)余活動(dòng)時(shí),如果你的回答是“i like singing”就可能被問(wèn)到更多有關(guān)singing的問(wèn)題,如“who is your favourite singer?”“what is your favourite song?”“why do you like him/her/it?”等等。這就要求考生在考前要做好相應(yīng)的準(zhǔn)備,考試中才能應(yīng)對(duì)自如,輕松過(guò)關(guān)。
三、聽(tīng)說(shuō)一體促進(jìn)提高口語(yǔ)水平
我們學(xué)習(xí)口語(yǔ)目的是為了與別人進(jìn)行交流,所以英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)中的幾個(gè)要素的重要次序應(yīng)為:流利—準(zhǔn)確—恰當(dāng)。也就是說(shuō),我們應(yīng)更注重與人交流的能力而不是僅僅把重點(diǎn)放在語(yǔ)法的正確性上。
首先,我講講我們的學(xué)生在英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)中主要存在的障礙:
①過(guò)于追求學(xué)習(xí)的捷徑,爭(zhēng)于求成,沒(méi)有真正踏踏實(shí)實(shí)地去接觸大量的英語(yǔ)材料。②套用中文思維方式去學(xué)英語(yǔ),而不是采用英語(yǔ)思維方式。中國(guó)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)的常用方法是大量地記憶單詞,或大量做題,卻不進(jìn)入英語(yǔ)本身的語(yǔ)言符號(hào)系統(tǒng)中去,而這正是“啞巴英語(yǔ)”產(chǎn)生的根源。
③把英語(yǔ)當(dāng)成嚴(yán)密的科學(xué)來(lái)學(xué),說(shuō)話之前首先看是否符合語(yǔ)法,始終用語(yǔ)法來(lái)思維。在英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)中,邏輯思維的運(yùn)用是必要的,但更重要的是還要運(yùn)用日常表達(dá)的習(xí)慣性思維。那么針對(duì)這些主要障礙,我提出以下幾個(gè)相對(duì)有效的學(xué)習(xí)方法:
1.通過(guò)大量的聽(tīng)力練習(xí),自覺(jué)培養(yǎng)英語(yǔ)思維習(xí)慣
語(yǔ)言輸入的一個(gè)重要途徑之一就是聽(tīng)。大家知道,口語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的關(guān)鍵是要模仿地道的英語(yǔ),如果你找不到老外或是練習(xí)口語(yǔ)的對(duì)象,你可以從聽(tīng)力材料中借力。聽(tīng)力材料需包括校園、社會(huì)、科普等話題,在進(jìn)行聽(tīng)力練習(xí)的時(shí)候,從中總結(jié)口語(yǔ)表達(dá)的語(yǔ)言套路,并加以演練,這樣你的口語(yǔ)聽(tīng)起來(lái)就會(huì)顯得洋味十足。開(kāi)始練習(xí)時(shí)速度可以慢一些,要逐步使自己跟上磁帶的朗讀速度。
具體步驟:先放錄音磁帶,聽(tīng)段落大意,理解整個(gè)故事的情節(jié);再放錄音,盡量聽(tīng)懂每一句話,實(shí)在聽(tīng)不懂再去看書(shū),搞明白每一個(gè)單詞的意思。然后,放一句,暫停,模仿錄音讀一句;然后,放下一句,暫停,再學(xué)一句,中間可以回放。當(dāng)你對(duì)文章的發(fā)音、語(yǔ)調(diào)完全掌握之后,就要在放錄音的同時(shí)同步跟讀。爭(zhēng)取讓自己的聲音與錄音磁帶完全重合。如果中間有結(jié)巴的地方也不要緊,繼續(xù)讀下去,然后再回來(lái)重讀。最后,關(guān)掉錄音機(jī),朗誦課文。注意使用學(xué)到的語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào)。
2.復(fù)述練習(xí):通過(guò)大量閱讀,提高英語(yǔ)思維能力
了解英漢兩種語(yǔ)言的思維差異需要在平時(shí)的閱讀中不斷地感受、體會(huì)、積累。由于受母語(yǔ)的影響,有些人講英語(yǔ)往往是先在頭腦中出現(xiàn)漢語(yǔ),然后才是英語(yǔ),因此就出現(xiàn)了不顧思維差異的“中式英語(yǔ)”現(xiàn)象。解決這一問(wèn)題的方法就是加大英語(yǔ)閱讀量,多讀一些簡(jiǎn)易讀物。要想提高口語(yǔ)表達(dá)水平,所讀的語(yǔ)言材料能夠朗朗上口。你可以試著把自己所讀過(guò)的章節(jié)或
剛剛讀過(guò)的小故事用英語(yǔ)復(fù)述出來(lái)。相信用這樣的方法練習(xí),一定會(huì)提高口語(yǔ)表達(dá)的流利程度,并逐步擺脫母語(yǔ)的影響,逐漸形成用英語(yǔ)思維的習(xí)慣。正是鑒于這一點(diǎn),本書(shū)第三、四章的長(zhǎng)難句及第五、六章的語(yǔ)義段落均選編自口語(yǔ)功能較強(qiáng)的英語(yǔ)國(guó)家原版期刊,考生必須對(duì)照磁帶上英、美專家的朗讀,加強(qiáng)自己的跟讀練習(xí)。
3.堅(jiān)持背誦和朗讀英語(yǔ),培養(yǎng)英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)感和英語(yǔ)思維能力
在學(xué)漢語(yǔ)時(shí),我們知道“熟讀唐詩(shī)三百首,不會(huì)作詩(shī)也會(huì)吟”,英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)也是這樣,可以這么說(shuō),如能熟背英語(yǔ)九百句,口語(yǔ)交流的基本障礙就會(huì)被掃除。在實(shí)際生活中,在各種不同的情景或場(chǎng)合、對(duì)不同的對(duì)象表達(dá)某一意念時(shí)常使用的習(xí)慣用語(yǔ)并不太多。這些用語(yǔ)大多具有固定的句型,往往不能用漢譯英的方式直譯出來(lái)。一個(gè)對(duì)口語(yǔ)句型掌握熟練的人,只要掌握2500~3000個(gè)常用詞和短語(yǔ),就能較自由地表達(dá)自己的思想。而朗讀英語(yǔ)實(shí)際是在“磨牙”、練口腔肌肉,是純粹的“體力活”。成年人英語(yǔ)講不好很大程度上是因?yàn)橹v英文時(shí)舌頭不靈活,沒(méi)有講英文的習(xí)慣。找一些英文段落、繞口令或者典型句型,反復(fù)大聲讀,直到舌、齒靈活。我相信只要持之以恒,通過(guò)朗讀發(fā)聲訓(xùn)練完全可以提高“口齒”伶俐程度。同時(shí),朗讀會(huì)不斷刺激大腦,強(qiáng)化英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)感和英語(yǔ)思維能力。
4.通過(guò)英漢口譯練習(xí),鍛煉英語(yǔ)思維
首先要選擇地道的漢英(或英漢)對(duì)照讀物,選好材料后,先讀漢語(yǔ)部分,然后逐句口譯成英文,完成一小段后,再對(duì)照書(shū)上的英文部分并與自己的口譯進(jìn)行比較,就可以發(fā)現(xiàn)口譯中的錯(cuò)誤、不足以及一點(diǎn)一滴的進(jìn)步。這種比較過(guò)程,就像一位高級(jí)教師在指導(dǎo)你,一些我們?cè)趯W(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)課文時(shí)熟視無(wú)睹的地道的英語(yǔ)用法通過(guò)比較會(huì)被重新發(fā)現(xiàn)和認(rèn)識(shí)。進(jìn)行這種“back translation”練習(xí),開(kāi)始時(shí)要選擇較簡(jiǎn)單的讀物,而且應(yīng)大量地做,只做一兩篇效果是不明顯的。這種練習(xí)在最初的時(shí)候可能進(jìn)展緩慢,費(fèi)時(shí)較多,但這是一個(gè)啟動(dòng)、加速的過(guò)程,只要堅(jiān)持下去,練上一段時(shí)間后你的翻譯速度就會(huì)大大加快。經(jīng)過(guò)大量的練習(xí),你會(huì)有這樣的感覺(jué):你的翻譯水平大大加強(qiáng)了,你的口語(yǔ)表達(dá)能力大大提高了!你的口譯(語(yǔ))能力和英語(yǔ)思維能力同步增長(zhǎng)!<本書(shū)的第三、四章所運(yùn)用的英文語(yǔ)句,我們都基本上采用直譯的方式譯成漢語(yǔ)與其原文按對(duì)照方式排列,這樣就是為了方便考生進(jìn)行“back translation”的練習(xí)>
5.尋找學(xué)伴一起練習(xí)口語(yǔ)
英語(yǔ)角是個(gè)不錯(cuò)的地方,在那我們不但可以練習(xí)口語(yǔ),還可以交流英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)經(jīng)驗(yàn),開(kāi)拓視野,提高英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)興趣。如果找不到學(xué)伴或參加英語(yǔ)角的機(jī)會(huì)很少,那么也沒(méi)有關(guān)系,有很多種方法可以自己練習(xí)口語(yǔ)。比如通過(guò)自己對(duì)自己來(lái)創(chuàng)造英語(yǔ)環(huán)境??梢詫?duì)自己描述所看到的景物,英語(yǔ)口述自己正在做的事情。
6.聽(tīng)譯法—角色互換:三人一組,模擬翻譯實(shí)戰(zhàn)
一人說(shuō)漢語(yǔ),一人說(shuō)英語(yǔ),扮演老外,一人作翻譯。練習(xí)一段時(shí)間后互換角色。這是一種非常好的翻譯訓(xùn)練方法,也是很好的相互學(xué)習(xí),取長(zhǎng)補(bǔ)短的方法,而且可大大提高反應(yīng)速度和能力。在這樣的練習(xí)中要特別注意短語(yǔ)(詞組)和小詞的運(yùn)用,中國(guó)式的英語(yǔ)尤其是口語(yǔ),一個(gè)很大的缺點(diǎn)就是學(xué)生喜歡用大詞,而真正地道的英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)卻是充滿著短小、活潑、生動(dòng)的短語(yǔ),富有生氣。而這些短語(yǔ)大部分有小詞構(gòu)成。
另外,如果可能我們也可以大聲且快速朗讀英文繞口令(就像相聲演員練嘴),還可以同時(shí)口中含塊糖以加大強(qiáng)化訓(xùn)練的力度。這樣來(lái)強(qiáng)化我們的口腔肌肉迅速適應(yīng)英文發(fā)音,使我們的口語(yǔ)相當(dāng)流利、清晰,而且還有自信。
例如:

☆ this fish is a fish that has a thinner fin than that fish.
