The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers;wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints;we spend more, but have less;we buy more but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families;more conveniences, but less time;we have more degrees, but less sense;more knowledge, but less judgment;more experts, but more problems;more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life;we’ve added years to life, not life to years.
We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We’ve conquered outer space, but not inner space;we’ve done larger things, but not better things.
We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul;we’ve split the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less;we plan more, but accomplish less.
We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait;we have higher incomes, but, lower morals.
We build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication;we’ve become long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are the days of two incomes, but more divorce;of fancier houses, but more broken homes.
These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw away morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.Where are we heading...?
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.
And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family an unwise investment indeed.
So what is the morale of the story?
Don’t work too hard...and you know what’s the full word of family?
FAMILY =(F)ATHER(A)ND(M)OTHER,(I)(L)OVE(Y)OU.家=爸爸媽媽,我愛你們。

Get a Thorough Understanding of Oneself
In all one's lifetime it is oneself that one spends the most time being with or dealing with. But it is precisely oneself that one has the least understanding of.When you are going upwards in life you tend to overestimate yourself. When you are going downhill you tend to underestimate yourself. It's likely that you think it wise for yourself to know your place and stay aloof from worldly wearing a mask of cowardice, behind which the flow of sap in your life will be retarded. To get a thorough understanding of oneself is to gain a correct view of oneself and be a sober realist—aware of both one's strength and shortage. You may look forward hopefully to the future but be sure not to expect too much, for ideals can never be fully realized. You may be courageous to meet challenges but it should be clear to you where to direct your efforts. To get a thorough understanding of oneself needs self-appreciation.Whether you liken yourself to a towering tree or a blade of grass, whether you think you are a high mountain or a small stone, you represent a state of nature that has its own reason of existence. If you earnestly admire yourself you'll have a real sense of self-appreciation, which will give you confidence. As soon as you gain full confidence in yourself you'll be enabled to fight and overcome any adversity. To get a thorough understanding of oneself also requires doing oneself a favor when it's needed. In time of anger, do yourself a favor by giving vent to it in a quiet place so that you won't be hurt by its flames;in time of sadness, do yourself a favor by sharing it with your friends so as to change a gloomy mood into a cheerful one;in time of tiredness, do yourself a favor by getting a good sleep or taking some tonic.Show yourself loving concern about your health and daily life.Unless you know perfectly well when and how to do yourself a favor, you won't be confident and ready enough to resist the attack of illness. To get a thorough understanding of oneself is to get a full control of one's life. Then one will find one's life full of color and flavor.
There once was a master who went to india.in those times, we didn't have the communications or airplanes or many kinds of transportation that we do now.so the master went to india on foot.he had never been to india before;perhaps he came from persia.and when he got there, he saw a lot of fruit.in india they have plenty of fruit to sell, but much of it is expensive because they can't grow much due to the water situation.so he saw one basket, a big basket of some very red, long fruit.and it was the cheapest in the shop, not expensive at all. So he went up and asked, “how much per kilo?” and the shopkeeper said, “two rupees.” two rupees in india is nothing;it's like dirt.so he bought a whole kilogram of the fruit and started eating it.but after he ate some of it: oh, my god!his eyes watered, his mouth watered and burned, his eyes were burning, his head was burning and his face became red.as he coughed and choked and gasped for breath, he jumped up and down, saying, “ah!ah!ah!”
But he still continued to eat the fruit!some people who were looking at him shook their heads and said, “you're crazy, man.those are chilies!you can't eat so many;they're not good for you!people use them as a condiment, but only a little bit to put into food for taste.you can't just eat them by the handful like that;they're not fruit!” so the stupid master said, “no, i can't stop!i paid money for them, and now i'll eat them.it's my money!”
And you think that master was stupid, right? similarly, we sometimes do a lot of things like that.we invest money, time or effort in a relationship, business or job.and even though it's been a long time, bitter experience tells us it won't work, and we know there's no more hope that things will change in the futurewe still continue just because we've invested money, time, effort and love into it.if so, we're kaput in the brain.just like the man who ate the chilies and suffered so much but couldn't stop because he didn't want to waste the money he'd paid.
So even if you've lost something, let it go and move on.that's better than continuing to lose.
Silence is soundlessness;silence exists in different forms.
An empty head or a blank mind which leads to speechlessness--that is silence.
Enthusiasm fades like dying embers and thus leads to cynicism and indifference to life, which arouses neither happiness nor sadness, neither worries nor anger, and which costs people their interest in and desire for anything--that is silence.
Despite all the experiences of love and hate, of disorientation and reorientation, of order-giving that was answered by hundreds and call-issuing that was not answered by a single soul, there is not a word uttered, but only a clam eye that watches on this world--that is also silence.
Worries and sufferings, tastes of changes and vicissitudes of the world, footprints left in mountains and valleys and noises of rivers and oceans cherished in the heart are all but hidden unrevealed--that is still silence.
Either an invaluable Italian violin or a reed whistle cut out casually would remain silent if they are not played, although the connotations of their silences differ greatly. For even though they are never touched by anybody, you can still imagine the vastly different sounds they can possibly produce.
A flawless jade ornament, or a coarse, gross brick will always remain silent if it is left untouched, but who can draw an equal sign between them?
Indeed, for a living being there is no such thing as true silence, for silence itself is a revelation of the mind and the heart, an echo of the soul of a different form.
Some people use silence as a disguise of the emptiness of the head.
Some use it as a means to depict their disorientation and melancholy.
And some use it as a way of expressing their angers and sorrows.
Silence usually is ephemeral. It reminds one of the bronze bells dangling from a pagoda's eaves;on windless days they are a decoration upon the age-weathered beauty, but with wind they give out wonderful tinkling and jingling metallurgic sounds, as if echoing age-old stories of long, long ago...
Do you not think the same of silent people?
They say that “silence is golden”, but of what nature is this “gold”? It can include integrity, honesty and kindness;it can stand for indifference to and detachment from fame and fortune;but it can also act as an excuse for hypocrisy, slyness and cowardice...the glittering of gold may not necessarily be the most brilliant lustre in the world.“沉默是金”,是怎樣的一種“金”呢?
Can it be that permanent silence is only represented by death? Perhaps even death cannot represent true silence, for the carrier of the soul can turn into dust, so that the sincere and wise voices from the bottom of the heart will trigger long-lasting echoes in the seas of human hearts...
We all, at one time or another, have pretended to be a rock star, singing and dancing along to our favorite song. Most of us have done this in the privacy of our own room when we were kids and as adults, in the privacy of our homes.Me? I love to do that when I drive!I turn on the radio, find a song that I can sing along too and pretty soon my arms are in the air and I am moving along to the rhythm. Most of the time, I do this on my way to work.
Yes, that is true.I will be in my nice work clothes, jamming while driving or stopped at a traffic light.I get weird looks from some people and others laugh.Personally, I love to get lost in the rhythm of a song which leads me to share with you the importance of being silly!
The definition for the word silly, according to the dictionary is: stupid, foolish and nonsensical.I know many people do not want to look foolish. So they walk around all serious, which in all honesty, is foolish!
No one is perfect, I repeat: no one is perfect.I don't care how educated, how thin, how beautiful, how simple, how frugal, how rich, and so on? No one is perfect! So why pretend to be something you are not?
Life is so short? You never know when this beautiful journey will be over, so why waste a single second on being so full of rigidity? Here is a quote by Souza, that I think says it all and is a great recipe for life: 人生何其短暫?? “Dance as though no one is watching you, Love as though you have never been hurt before, Sing as though no one can hear you, Live as though heaven is on earth.“ 跳舞吧,就像沒有人欣賞一樣,去愛吧,就像沒有受到傷害一樣,唱歌吧,就像沒有人傾聽一樣,生活吧,就像今天是最后一天一樣。
When we were kids, we had no idea of what limitations were and we had no care in the world so we could do things without worrying about how we appeared to others. However, as we grew up, we lost that childlike innocence.
So don't lose the child that still lives within you.The next time you feel down, go turn on your favorite song, and sing and dance along like there is no tomorrow.Or watch something that makes you laugh.Laughter is the best medicine to whatever ails you and nothing is better than laughing so hard that your tummy hurts.Trust me, you will feel a whole lot better, and who doesn't want to feel good?
Time is a bank
Everyone has a bank. Its name is TIME.Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.
Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the records of the day.If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no going back. There is no drawing against the “tomorrow”.You must live in the present on today's deposits.Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success! The clock is running.Make the most of today: “Seize the day!” So, you see, time is important, make the most of it.After all, life is either a daring adventure or nothing!
Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to have your time. And remember time waits for none.
The Power of Words
The Power of Words
A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed of what the other frogs were saying and gave up.He fell down and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could.Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die.He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, “Did you not hear us?” The frog explained to them that he was a little deaf.
He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
This story teaches us two lessons:
1.There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.1,你的話有決定生死的力量。
2.A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them.2,而一句消極的話足以殺掉一個消沉的人。
Be careful of what you say.Speak life to those who cross your path. The power of words is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way.
Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times.Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.
