去年春節期間，我陷入過一場家庭紛爭。在我回家之前，我們家的電視除了已有的14個頻道外又增加了四個衛星頻道。晚上的黃金時間，每個頻道的節目都很精彩.結果，我們一家五口(父母，兩個姐姐和我)為了選臺而爭執起來。最后，我們決定應當看“最有意思”的節目??如果我們在什么是“最有意思”上可以認同的話。

不過我們全都清楚地記得，買了電視后的好長一段時間里，只有一兩個頻道可供選擇。電視頻道的增多反映出我們生活中的一個重大變化:選擇余地的擴大。15年前，我們身著同樣的款式，單一的色調。而如今，紛繁的花色和眾多的式樣讓我們挑得眼花繚亂。

15年前，我們幾乎無報可讀。而如今，除了大大小小的中文報紙，我們還讀上了《中國日報》、《21世紀報》這樣的英文報紙。

15年前，英語專業的學生只能選語言與文學課程。而如今，我們還學習西方文化，新聞，商務，國際關系，甚至還有計算機課程。

選擇的涌現標志著中國進入了一個嶄新的時代，一個充滿多樣化的時代，一個物質與精神都愈加豐富的時代，一個中華民族獲得新生的時代。

我們為選擇之多而歡呼雀躍，同時也深深地感到這一切來之不易。

一個半世紀之前，在西方大炮、戰艦的威通下，中國被迫打開了國門。經過祖祖輩輩的抗爭與犧牲，我們才最終贏得了當家作主的機會。改革開放這個正確的抉擇使一切發生了翻天覆地的變化。

我和其他同齡人一樣，太年輕了、沒有經歷過中國人喪失選擇權的歲月。但是，隨著下個世紀的腳步越走越近，我們是該們心自間了:選擇，對于我們青年一代，到底意味著什么? 選擇，是場靠僥幸來獲勝的游戲嗎?是句不用兌現的空話嗎?抑或是種讓人知難而退的困境? 首先，我認為，選擇意味著抓住機遇。

我是英語專業三年級學生，我所面臨的一個重大選擇當然是畢業后的去向。我可以攻讀碩士學位，或在國內，或在國外。我可以走上工作崗位，做名教師，翻譯，記者，編輯或外交家.實際上，雙向選擇的體制在我面前鋪開了通向各行各業的大道。

所有這一切聽上去令人振奮，但它們畢竟只是可能性。有些人面對五花八門的選擇挑得眼花繚亂，我要告訴他們:選擇就意味著接受挑戰。

15年前，懂門外語或會用計算機是個優越條件。但今天，隨著受教育面的拓寬，以上的知識也成了每個人必備的條件。

在這種形勢下，即便最細小的選擇也要求我們具有極大的智慧和自主精神。當我們面對選擇不斷增強自己的主動性時，每一次選擇的結果也同樣變得愈加重要。

比方說，核能可以提高人民的生活水平，可它同樣也能毀滅千百萬人的生命財產。經濟的發展使我們富裕起來，卻也給我們的空氣、水、健康帶來了嚴重危害。有些人對選擇的后果毫不在乎，我要對他們說:選擇還意味著承擔責任。我們替自己做選擇時，不能隨口一句“這不關別人的事”。作為下個世紀的決策者，我們必須承擔對和我們共同擁有這個地球的人們所負的責任。

期末考試前一天，她來求我說“請你給我講解一下行嗎?這次我很想考得好一點。”我開始給她講解，不一會兒便草草收場，假裝沒有察覺她迷茫的眼神，一溜煙兒地跑開了。不出所料，這次她又考砸了。兩個月后，新學期依始，傳來她死于血癌的消息。我沒有完成那項小小的任務，無人知曉。但我卻不能原諒自己。她的眼睛令我難以忘懷，仿佛在責問我，“你為什么不愿多幫助我呢?這對于你來說，并不費事。你為什么不能理解我對你的信賴，而讓我帶著痛苦和遺憾離開這個世界?”

我當時才八九歲。但從某種意義上講，這件事成了我生活的新起點。因為我開始體會到“責任”二字的意義，并盡心盡力地學著完成自己的義務。我也逐漸領會了這個神圣字眼的深刻內含:人與人之間的彼此需要和信任、合作和依賴正是人類社會存在的基礎。

之后，我在生活中又經受過多次失敗，但那小姑娘之死所引起的懊悔，心里卻不曾再現。想到自己做每一件事都能盡職盡責，一種滿足之感便油然而生。

此事及類似的多起事件改變了我，完善了我。當我長大成人，我開始領悟周圍發生的一切變化。我發現，從某種意義上說，社會跟我一樣，正處在一個自我完善的時期。新建筑、新商品、新款式一天一個樣。新思維、新信息、新技術層出不窮。即便萬里相隔，人們在轉瞬之間即可相互交談。社會競爭越演越烈。

人們越來越強調個性和創造性。越來越多的人因工作努力而受到獎賞。這就是當今的時代，一代新人由成長邁入成熟的時代。這是我們這一代人接替父輩治國安邦的時代。然而，我們也面臨很多間題。

據悉，壞人在光天化日之下作惡，周圍的群眾居然袖手旁觀，無動于衷。我還聽說，目前我國尚有100萬兒童連小學也上不起，而巨額資金卻拿去舉辦奢侈的宴會和購置豪華的轎車。

我們常常買的是劣質藥品，或名曰藥品實為一文不值的廢物，非但不能除病去痛，反而會使病情加重。在某些人看來，世上金錢最寶貴，只要能賺錢，不惜犧牲道德和責任。

因而，這個時代賦予我們的是更強烈的競爭和效率意識，使我們更善于批判性地思考和創造性地行動。

此外，這個時代要求我們這一代人必須認清自己肩負的歷史重任，下定決心，采取行動，解決上述問題。長期以來，歷史一直在我們這一代人身上培養著這些品質。現在，歷史呼喚我們挺身而出，以實際行動向全民族及全人類證實我們的拳拳愛國之心和大無畏的英雄主義。

此刻，我站在講臺上回顧15年來的學生生活。今后的歲月，我很可能平平淡淡地度過。但這絲毫不會讓我心灰意冷。因為我知道，憑借強烈的責任感和精益求精的不懈奮斗，我將追求一種有意義的生活，一種不枉此生的生活。
