復合賓語--及物動詞之后的復合賓語
復合賓語是由賓語加賓語補足語所構成,位于及物動詞和介詞(with, without, like)之后。可以作賓語補足語的一般有名詞、形容詞、副詞、介詞短語、現在分詞(短語)、過去分詞(短語)和動詞不定式(短語)。賓語和賓語補足語之間有邏輯上的主語和表語關系、主語和謂語關系。
一、邏輯上的主語和表語關系 例如:
1.We call him Mr.Wang.我們喊他王先生。(名詞)
(He is Mr.Wang.)
They made me monitor.他們選我當班長。(名詞)
(I am monitor.)
2.We will build our school more beautiful.我們要把我們的學校建設得更美麗。(形容詞)
(Our school will be more beautiful.)
His not passing the exam made his mother angry.他沒有考及格使他母親非常生氣。(形容詞)
(His mother was angry.)
3.Who took my bag away by mistake?是誰誤拿我的書包了?(副詞)(My bag was away.)
Please let him out.請讓他出去。(副詞)
(He will be out.)
4.After class, Mr.Li kept her in the classroom.下課以后,李老師把他留在教室里。(介詞短語)
(She was in the classroom.)
二、邏輯的主語和謂語關系 例如:
5.Why did you keep me waiting for a year? 你為什么讓我等了一年?(現在分詞短語)
(I was waiting for a year.)
Can you hear Mary singing English songs in the next room? 你能聽見瑪麗在隔壁唱歌嗎?(現在分詞短語)
(Mary was singing in the next room.)
6.When you speak, you should make yourselves understood.你說話的時候要讓人明白。(過去分詞)
(….you are understood by your listeners.)
I saw Tom beaten black and blue all over.我看見湯姆渾身被打得清一塊紫一塊。(過去分詞短語)

7.Mr.Cheng told us to study harder than before.程老師叫我們比以前更加努力學習。

復合賓語--介詞with, without, like的復合賓語
“with/without/like + 賓語 + 賓補”其中的介詞(with, without, like)已經失去本來的意義,這種結構,在句子中通常作狀語,表示條件、原因、時間、方式和伴隨等,有時也可以作定語。賓語和賓語補足語之間有邏輯上的主語和表語關系、主語和謂語關系。
一、with + “復合結構”作狀語
例如:
1.Wu Song fought the tiger, with a stick his only weapon.武松打虎,手中只有一根棍子作為武器。(with+名詞+名詞,表示行為方式)
2.The boys were made a snowman, with hands red with cold.孩子們堆雪人,手都凍紅了。(with+名詞+形容詞短語,表示伴隨情況)
3.With my wife away, I had to cook myself.因為夫人不在家我得親自做飯。(with +名詞+副詞,表示原因)
4.The soldiers are on guard, with guns in their hands.士兵們持槍站崗。(with +名詞+介詞短語,表示伴隨情況)
5.The soldier rode on, with blood flowing from his right side.士兵騎馬繼續(xù)跑著,鮮血從右肋流了下來。(with +名詞+現在分詞,表示伴隨情況)
6.The old man lay on the ground, with his hands clenched.老人躺在地上,拳頭緊握。(with +名詞+過去分詞,表示伴隨情況)
7.With such good teachers to teach us, we will feel safe.有這樣的好老師教我們,我們就放心了。(with +名詞+不定式短語,表示條件)
8.With the meeting over, we all went home.會議結束了,我都回家了。(with +名詞+副詞,表示時間)
9.The war was over, without a shot being fired.一槍沒打戰(zhàn)爭就結束了。(with +名詞+現在分詞,表示結果)
10.The tree stands at the gate, like a miss welcoming guests.那棵樹站在門口像一位小姐歡迎客人。(with + 名詞+現在分詞短語,表示行為方式)
二、with/without+復合結構作定語
11.The woman with a baby in her arms is Tom’s mother.那位懷抱嬰兒的婦女是湯姆的母親。(with +名詞+介詞短語,作定語)

有的讀者讀英語報刊,心中無數,東翻翻,西看看,總想挑容易的文章讀。一篇文章剛看了個頭,一碰 到生詞,馬上換一篇。如此這般,換了六、七篇,還沒確定讀哪篇。那么,應該怎么讀?首先要有準 備地閱讀,如先大致了解一下某報各版的主要內容,然后按照自己的興趣或事先擬訂的閱讀計劃,選定 一個版面,有選擇地閱讀。
如果碰到生詞,也要堅定地讀下去。要知道,對于 初、中等英語水平的讀者,英語報刊文章很少會不 出現生詞。其次要有步驟地閱讀。一般應先讀標題,但由于標題(headline)短而精,不太好懂,不少 讀者常常繞開它。這是不明智的。一份英文報紙少 則10至20版,多則數百版。讀者一般時間有限,誰 都不可能像讀課文或看小說那樣從頭至尾一字不漏 地通讀一遍。我們拿起一份報紙總想迅速找到當天 的報道重點或個人感興趣的新聞和文章。怎樣尋找 呢?這就需要找個“向導”作介紹。顯然,新聞標 題就是十分理想的“向導”。這是因為標題是新聞 內容的集中和概括,它用簡練的文字濃縮了新聞中 最主要或最值得注意的內容。英語新聞標題的措詞、語法、修辭乃至標點符號等方面的特點較為突出,現一一予以簡述。
1.省略
標題是新聞不可分割的組成部分。閱讀英語報紙的 新聞標題是我們學習閱讀英語報刊的第一步。這么 說絕無夸張之意,從語法角度來看,英語新聞標題 有其一套獨特的語法體系,與人們平時常見的英語
句子語法有所不同,新聞英語學者稱之為“標題語
言”(headlines)。其中,標題中虛詞的省略就
是它的重要特點之一。一般而言,標題中虛詞省略
現象主要表現在以下幾個方面:
