現代的社會是一個流動的社會，愛情的形式也體現了這一趨勢。越來越多的異地戀就這樣產生了。在英文里，異地戀的說法是“long distance relationship(直接翻譯為長距離戀愛)。那“距離產生美”英文應該怎么說呢？“Distance creates beauty”？不對。地道的英文講法是“Absence makes the heart grow fonder”(直譯為“人不在更加使得兩心相悅”)。Absence 的意思是“缺席”，也就是不在身邊的意思，grow fonder 的意思是說“我的心更加喜歡你”。美國人很喜歡用fond這個詞語，意思上感覺比like來得更強些。I am fond of you 就是“我很喜歡你”。記得我以前曾經讀到過一句非常肉麻的話：“你在我身旁的時候，你是一切。你不在我身旁的時候，一切是你。英文估計可以這么說：“When you are with me, you are everything;When you are not with me, everything is you.”這句和“Absence makes the heart grow fonder”有著異曲同工之妙。

“眼不見，心沒你”英文怎么說？”Out of sight, out of mind”。sight 是視野，視線的意思，而mind 是思想的意思。那么out of sight , out of mind 就是不在視線之內也就不在思想之中的意思。大家如果想知道老外對長距離戀愛是怎么看的，可以在google里打入這兩句英文，你會找到很多討論這個話題的文章。怎樣表示你有多愛你的另一半。

d.如果你的他/她給你死氣沉沉的生活帶來了無數歡樂，讓你的人生煥然一新，那么下面這兩句話就在合適不過了：你就像那沙漠里的綠洲(You are like an oasis in the desert)；你就像我生命中的新鮮空氣(You are like a breath of fresh air in my life)。是不是肉麻死了？這種語言雖然聽起來沒有什么新意，但是到了女孩子耳朵里還是聽著舒服極了。會說這種話的男孩子一定嘴巴甜得不得了，在英文里被稱為“smooth talker”。smooth 的意思是平穩，光滑，但是和 talker 一聯系起來就成了把每一個人都說得舒舒服服的意思。嘴甜惹人喜愛是件好事，但是如果跟每一女孩子嘴都那么甜，他可就成了playboy(花花公子)了。Watch out！

不要就此認為老外說“ I love you”是件很隨便的事。男女之間說出這句話還是很慎重的。這往往表示彼此對對方還是很認真的。

分手時說 I love you but I am not in love with you 意思是說，我依然關心著你，喜歡你，就像愛朋友那樣，但是我已經感覺不到火花了，愛情已經銷聲匿跡了。聽到這句話的可憐的人也應該知道“愛情已成往事”，不要再強求些什么了。

4.date 的用法

大家都知道 date 的意思是約會，既可以作動詞，也可以作名詞用。

a 傍大款英文怎么說? 英文里有這么一個詞 gold digger(掘金者)，表達的就是中文里傍大款的意思。總想在哪位身上挖出點兒金子來的人就稱為“gold digger”。美國模特Anna Nichole Smith 在她26歲那年嫁給了89歲的億萬富翁，她在美國就經常被人叫做“gold digger”。

1.I don't want to be the third wheel.我不想當電燈泡.一般的自行車都只有二個輪子, 要是有三個輪子呢? 沒錯, 那第三個輪子就是多余的。所以Third wheel 就是美語中電燈泡正確的表示方法。還有一種I don't want to be the third arm.這里不是說“三只手”的意思, 而是和third wheel 一樣, 都是電燈泡的意思。

2.He is dating another girl on the side.他同時腳踏兩條船。把這句說成I have my feet in two boats 的人也不在少數吧!其實正確的說法應該是像這樣, He is dating another girl on the side。或是你可以說He is dating another girl behind her back。

3.I am the one-woman kinda man.我是那種從一而終的男人。在美國從一而終的人好像不多, 他們通常從高中就開始交男女朋友, 一直交到結婚, 中間不知改朝換代過多少次.。所以這句話是很難得聽到的。kinda在口語中常用, 它是kind of 的簡寫, kinda man 就是說那樣的男人。

還有一種用法叫We are exclusive。這個exclusive 指的是排他的意思.所以當一對情侶說, We are exclusive時, 就是說我們心里只有對方一人, 我們都不會再去喜歡上別人。

4.Those boys like to hit on me all the time.那些男生老愛找我搭訕。Hit somebody 是說你打某人的意思, 但是hit on somebody 就不一樣了, hit on somebody 是當作搭訕來解釋.常常電視劇里可以看到, 一個男的跑去跟一個陌生女孩多說了兩句話, 那個女生就說: Are you hitting on me? 你現在是在跟我搭訕嗎? 實在是很有意思。5.That's the long distance relationship.我和我的情人分隔兩地。一般relationship都是特別指男女朋友之間的關系, 比如你可以跟你的另一半說, I really appreciate our relationship。就是我很感激我們能夠在一起。Long distance relationship是一種固定用法, 一般情況下不會說成We live far away from each other.只會說We have a long distance relationship.再來你可能可以接著說, It's so hard for me.6.You should have chivalry.你應該有點紳士風度。

All over you 就是說對你非常地著迷, 這還有另一種表示方法, 叫I have a crush on you.這二句都是表達很喜歡某人的意思。

All over somebody 還有一個很常用的用法, 我把它翻成“三貼”比如說你去舞廳跳舞, 看到有一對男女跳到三點都貼在一起了, 你就可以跟你的同伴說, Hey, look, the guy is dancing all over the girl。9.I'm over you.我跟你之間完了。

一字之差但是意思完全不同喔.你要是說I'm over you, 就是說我跟你之間完了, 我不想再和你有任何的瓜葛.這和I'm all over you 是完全不一樣的。

10.Are you trying to seduce me? 你想要勾引我嗎? Seduce 就是說你用言語或是行為去勾引某人。

* A nice-looking girl caught his eye.（漂亮的妞兒吸住）。注意：不用eyes。

* He was introduced to a pretty woman and they seem to hit it off immediately.（他被介紹給一位漂亮女子後，他們似乎就一見鍾情）。或

* They were attracted to each other the moment their eyes met.* When he met her, he had the hots for her.（當他見到她，他就對她愛慕不已。）(多半指 sexual attraction。)例如說，女對男的沒有興趣，那么也可以說：

* She did not feel any attraction toward him.（她對他毫無興趣);或

* He is the man for whom she feels no attraction, catch or no catch.（不管他的條件好或壞，她對他就是沒有興趣）。

這里的 catch，可指財富、地位、名望和外表。to be a lady's man(或 ladies' man)； to be a prince on a white horse； to be a casanova； to be a womanizer.這些都是指男人英俊瀟灑，作風奔放，野性旺盛，喜歡在「女人窩」里。例如： * Mr.Lin has been considered a prince on a white horse.（林先生被認為是白馬王子。）

這是中古時代女子對男人的夢中理想，然而現在也有老外認為美男子應該是： 全身盔甲燦爛光輝的王子。* He is a prince in a shining armour.（動詞時態：shine, shone 或 shined。）

* Many people think that Mr.Clinton is a real lady?s man.（或 a real womanizer）(許多人認為柯林頓先生喜歡在女人窩里。）

*As a casanova, he has many girl friends.（由於他是美男子，他有許多女友。）

倘若說：…… like flies to the garbage 指像一群蒼蠅喜歡垃圾那樣，當然就不是恭維了。to be a beauty queen;to be a dream boat;to be a cutie;to be a babe;to be a fox.這些都是形容女人漂亮，曲線玲瓏，身材曼妙，揮身性感或散發一種性感的野性。

例如：

* She is a beauty queen.（= very beautiful）

* She is a cutie.（= pretty and attractive）（漂亮迷人）* She is a dream boat.（= ideal type of woman）（理想女人）* She is a babe.（= very beautiful and attractive）

* She is a fox.（= She is a foxy lady = She is sexy.）（她很性感）。

注意：如果說： She is as sneaky（或 cunning）as a fox.又是指她像狐貍一樣的狡猾。

假如女人能使男人拜倒她的石榴裙下或神魂顛倒那么就能說：
