BEC考試中的商務知識考點

BEC考試作為目前國外考試中實用性非常強的考試之一，和眾多其他英語類考試一樣，是對考生聽說讀寫能力的一個階段性測試。但BEC又有其獨特的特點，根據(jù)BEC考試的理念，它考查的既不是純商務英語(Business Background)，也不是公共英語(General

English)，而是考查考生在商務情境中的語言運用能力和問題處理能力，商務背景談BEC考試是沒有意義的。

根據(jù)筆者多年的教學經(jīng)驗及對BEC考試的研究發(fā)現(xiàn)，BEC查和測試考生對商務英語的掌握情況：③商務詞匯

從考試性質(zhì)來看，BECBEC考試對商務詞匯的考查形1.BEC考試的考生都是英語專業(yè)，聽說能BEC考試中卻未能取得理想的成績。究其原因，BEC例如，在BEC閱讀中有這樣幾個高頻詞匯：proof、books和但在商務的語境下，proof不再表示“證據(jù)，證明”“樣本”；books并非“圖書”之意，而是表示“公司賬目”；range也不再表示“范圍，射程”，而是表示“產(chǎn)品組合、產(chǎn)品系列”。此外，在BEC聽力中也經(jīng)常會考查常見詞匯的特定商務含義。以BEC聽力真題中的一句話為例：“I'm often charged 18% interest per month on my outstanding balance.”這句話的理解重點在于

outstanding和balance兩個詞：outstanding是CET中的高頻詞匯，常表示“杰出、優(yōu)秀”；balance常作“平衡”之意。但這里如果按照常用的含義來理解這兩個詞，“outstanding balance”就變成了“杰出的平衡”，這個意思是說不通的。其實，這句話中有三個詞都具有商務英語的特征： interest在這里表示 “利息”；outstanding表示“未償付的”；而balance

表示“余額”。所以這句話的意思是：“我每個月總是為了未償還的余額而支付18%的利息?！庇纱丝磥?，考生只有理解詞匯在商務背景中的特定意思，才能準確解題。

2.如何備考商務詞匯？

(1)辨別日常英語詞匯和商務英語詞匯

對于BEC考生來說，要想突破詞匯這一關(guān)，首先是要辨別某個詞是日常英語詞匯還是discount一詞在日常英語中的含義為“打折”“；再如，turnover一詞的常用含義為”營業(yè)額“"close一詞在商務英語中不再表示”關(guān)閉“，而是指”于這些詞匯，考生要首先理解其基本含義，定含義。

(2)注意積累商務短語

在商務英語中，例如，debit note()、unsocial hours(非正常工作時間)、)、living out of a suitcase(經(jīng)常出差在外)考生不僅要知其意，還要做到在聽力題目中聽到

員工與客戶的關(guān)系等?？忌谄綍r的備考過程中，應該有意識地針對不同的話題建立相應的詞匯庫。以針對跨國交易這一話題為例，考生可以積累一些主要港口和城市的名稱以及一些常見的流通貨幣名稱，如Won(圓，朝鮮和韓國的貨幣單位)、Rupiah(盧比，印度尼西亞的貨幣單位)、Baht(銖，泰國貨幣單位)、Peso(比索，拉丁美洲一些國家和菲律賓的貨幣單位)、Dong(盾，越南貨幣單位)等。這樣進行歸類記憶，有利于考生理清思路，縮小范圍，方便記憶。通過這樣的日積月累，考生的詞匯量就能不斷擴大了。

商務背景知識

BEC考試是一種實用性非常強的考試，它注重考查考生在實際工作環(huán)境中用英語解決問題的能力，同時會涉及到一些對商務背景知識的考查。如果考生對商務背景知識有一定的了解，解題時就會更加順利。下面我們就來了解一下BEC考試對商務背景知識的考查形式以及考生增加商務背景知識的方法。

1.對商務背景知識的考查

BEC口語上。以口語考試中的第二部分Mini-Presentation個主題中任選一個主題，考生的演講，然后針對他的演講進行提問?！傲硪粋€考生可以針對此話題提問如下的問題：具體的公司結(jié)構(gòu)包括：)、flat

management structure()teams(由項目小組構(gòu)成的靈活公司體系定的商務背景知識，并能簡潔已經(jīng)參加工作的考生占據(jù)一

2.對于商務知識確有涵蓋，所以考生在備考時切勿鉆牛角尖，切忌去探究一些深入細致卻和考試無關(guān)的主題，抓住重點、淺嘗輒止即可。

以BEC教材《新編劍橋商務英語同步輔導》(高級)中的第一單元為例。此單元分為兩部分：公司職責與公司結(jié)構(gòu)?？忌诖藛卧枰私獾膬?nèi)容就是公司的基本經(jīng)營模式、各部門的具體職責以及各部門之間的關(guān)系。文章中出現(xiàn)了公司的各個部門的名稱，以財務部為例，文章在提到這個部門時提及了一些財務方面的詞匯，例如purchasing ledger(購貨分類帳)、sales ledger(銷貨帳)等，考生只需在看到這些財務方面的基本詞匯時，能知其意，請關(guān)注新浪微博：BEC商務英語http://weibo.com/panda9

并能根據(jù)這些詞來判斷這個人屬于什么部門以及這個部門的職責是什么既可，無需了解所有的財務英語詞匯和表達。

(2)廣泛閱讀，擴展知識

在橫向廣度上，考生要通過廣泛閱讀來擴大自己的知識面?？忌谄綍r一定要多涉獵商務類篇章，諸如金融、財務、商務接待、商務交際、商務管理等方面的文章，對一些重要的商務常識必須了解，例如The Nikkei 225 Stock Average(日經(jīng)225平均指數(shù)，由日本產(chǎn)經(jīng)新聞推出的東京證券交易所的225市指標之一)、Goldman Sachs(高盛集團有限公司)極高的，打開任何一家外媒的商業(yè)版，幾乎每天都會遇到這些詞，疇。此外，考生也要多關(guān)注國外金融類網(wǎng)站，諸如彭博社(Financial Times)、《經(jīng)濟學人》Economists報告，從中積累商務背景知識。

商務思維

BECBEC聽力題為例，其中討論公司發(fā)展前景；在這些特定的工作場景中，特別是英美BEC考

BEC以商務人士出差住宿的這一話題為例，如果針對此話題考生只能想到省錢這一個方面，顯然就不具備商務人士應該具備的細致和嚴謹?shù)乃季S。針對這一話題，考生還應根據(jù)商務考慮到需要酒店的位置、酒店附近的交通狀況等。再以寫作為例，假如BEC寫作的話題是要求考生處理一位客戶因被多收費而投訴的問題，那么應從哪些方面來考慮寫作內(nèi)容呢？據(jù)筆者觀察，基本所有的考生都能想到要向客戶道歉，并且告知客戶將退還多收的費用。但除此之外，拉開考生之間分數(shù)差距的關(guān)鍵卻在于考生有沒有展現(xiàn)出自己的商務思維，即進一步提出還款的方式以及還款的時間等，這樣才能充分體現(xiàn)出考生嚴謹?shù)纳虅账季S以及解決實際問題的能力。

2.如何培養(yǎng)商務思維？

(1)學會從商務角度看問題

怎樣才能從商務的角度看問題？以BEC中級教材中的一篇課文為例。這篇課文講述各國不同的風俗、文化以及各國之間的商務溝通所產(chǎn)生的影響。課文中涉及這樣一個問題：”Your first day at office, what kind of face do you want to see？“很多同學在回答這一問題時，給出的答案是：”I would expect a beautiful face.“從這樣的回答中就可以看出，考生并沒有運用商務思維來解題。大家可以想象一下，都會感覺緊張和陌生，在這種心情下，”a face of helpful and friendly"生將自己置身于真實的工作環(huán)境中，解題。

(2)通過泛讀培養(yǎng)商務思維

由于文化背景的差異，對于意，要想克服這一點，考生必須要只要考生能夠持之以恒地閱讀，

BEC商務英語口語考試

口試簡介

口語考試大多是在考試當天的下午進行，也有少數(shù)是在第二天進行，具體要看準考證上的時間安排。考生兩人或三人一組進行考試?？记耙x擇好搭檔。搭檔選擇的方式主要有以下幾種：第一種是考場內(nèi)考號相鄰的考生為一組；（考號的安排是按照姓氏的漢語拼音順序。姓艾的在前面，姓張的在后面。）第二種是考生在考場內(nèi)自由選擇，沒有找到搭檔的，由監(jiān)考老師幫助分組。第三種是考生在考區(qū)內(nèi)自由選擇，沒有找到搭檔的，由監(jiān)考老師幫助分組。具體的考試方式要看準考證上面的安排或者聽監(jiān)考老師的安排。每個考區(qū)會根據(jù)自己的情況靈活安排。

口語考試由兩位考官（一位提問官，一位評分官）對兩位或三位考生同時進行測試。提問官負責主持口試，并負責給每位考生的表現(xiàn)打總分，評分官負責對每一位考生的成績進行分析評估。經(jīng)過提問官的介紹以后，評分官就不再參與交流。

口試兩人一組進行。但是如果考點的考生人數(shù)為奇數(shù)，最后三位考生可以同時進行考試，考試題型有特別適合三人小組的試題。兩人的考試時間約14分鐘，三人約20分鐘。

考試由三部分組成：

第一部分，考官對每個考生輪流提問，問一些一般性問題，并不嚴格按照順序進行。這部分考試時間為3分鐘左右。主要考查考生自我介紹的能力，提供有關(guān)自己家庭、興趣、學習和工作的信息，并表達如同意、反對或喜好等意見的能力。

第二部分是簡短發(fā)言。考官給每位考生三張卡片，每張卡片上都有指定的話題?？忌梢赃x擇其中一張，用大約一分鐘的時間準備一段持續(xù)一分鐘的有發(fā)揮的簡短發(fā)言?？ㄆ嫌袃蓚€提示要點，考生可以發(fā)揮第三個要點，以充實內(nèi)容。每個考生講完后，就會請他們的搭檔對他所講的內(nèi)容提一個問題?？荚嚂r間為6分鐘左右。考試的時候考生不可以互換卡片。互相不知道對方的話題，所以考生要認真聽考官講話，考官會把考生要講的話題說出來的?？脊俚闹甘菊Z請看本文最后一部分。

第三部分是考生間討論問題，（三個考生則采取三向討論的形式）?？脊俳o考生一個討論題目，里面有關(guān)于主題的背景介紹和兩個和主題相關(guān)的小問題。討論前給考生30秒的時間閱讀題卡要求，不可以寫筆記，然后直接進入討論，討論時間是3分鐘左右，考官可以進行恰當?shù)囊龑АＳ懻摻Y(jié)束后，考官會向兩位考生提一些與主題有關(guān)的問題?？荚嚂r間總共為5分鐘左右。

評分標準

每個考生的表現(xiàn)會被單獨評分。參與對話的考官對于考生的表現(xiàn)會做全面的評估。不參與對話的考官對于考生的四項表現(xiàn)：語法和詞匯，話語組織，發(fā)音和互動溝通能力進行單獨評分。

語法和詞匯

指的是對語法和詞匯形式恰當運用的范圍和準確性。BEC中級測試，需要一定程度的語法和詞匯量。這一水平的考生應該相當準確并使用足夠的適當詞匯表達自己的意圖。

話語組織

指每位考生個人談話是否連貫，長度是否合適，是否切題。話語應足以符合BEC中級水平的要求。由于時間有限，有時候考生的談話可能長度不當。

發(fā)音

指考生發(fā)出讓人理解的聲音的能力。在BEC中級水平，要求通過恰當使用重讀、節(jié)奏、語調(diào)和清楚的單個發(fā)音來表達意思。盡管聽者偶爾可能聽起來費力。

互動溝通

指考生在談話過程中積極參與的能力。在BEC中級，考生應該對輪流說話反應靈敏，并通過恰當?shù)靥釂柡突卮鹗拐勗捘艹掷m(xù)進行。有時會有停頓，需要聽話者有耐心。
