研原因,未來規劃(學習、職業)。筆者對這些話題進行梳理,希望廣大考生有所了解并做好充分的準備,順利通過英語口試。
1.自我介紹篇(重點)。基本上每個院校每個專業的口試中都會涉及這一方面。考官其實是要借此了解你的口頭表達能力以及你的報名表之外的一些信息。自我介紹時間以2-3分鐘為宜。思路要清楚,要突出重點,口語盡量流利(不要太流利了,有背誦之嫌)。
1)考官要求你作自我介紹時,不要用…let me introduce myself briefly / please allow me to introduce myself to you等句子,重復、啰嗦。開頭可以只用一句話引入:Dear professors, I feel so glad to meet all of you here.然后就可以進入主題,介紹姓名、年齡等等。
2)自我介紹的主體內容。
① 姓名。介紹自己姓名時,發音一定要準(南方考生要多加注意)。
② 年齡。年齡可以跟在姓名后帶過(I am XXX, 25 years old)。
③ 原來的院校、專業。注意:一定要把原來學校的英文名稱、專業的英文名稱弄清楚(尤其是跨校、跨專業的學生)。
所屬的公司、職位。注意:在職考生則應將自己公司、自己職位/職稱的英文名稱弄明白。
④ 性格、能力。可以著重強調你的個性對你報考的專業有何積極的作用。如果報考的是學術性的專業,可以說自己細心(carefully,detail-oriented)、條理分明(logical)、踏實(steady)等;如果是研究性、應用性更強一點的專業,可以說自己負責(responsible)、可靠(dependable)、有效率(efficient)等。
其他的一些表示性格、能力的形容詞有:active, aggressive(有進取心的), adaptable, amicable(友好的), analytical(善于分析的), cooperative, creative, disciplined, dutiful, energetic, faithful, gentle, independent(有主見的),innovative, motivated, modest, objective, precise, punctual, precise(一絲不茍的), temperate等等。
在職考生或有過工作經驗的考生還可以強調一下你的工作成績,如:As the assistant to the General Manger of XXX Company, I have helped to negotiate a $200,000 deal for the corporation.⑤ 愛好。All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.除了強調你的學習的重視,同時也要避免給考官一種“書呆子”的感覺。一般可以從體育、音樂、電影等方面來說,同時要簡單說明這些愛好對你的積極意義(build my body, relax myself, open my mind…);注意避免提到那些可能引起考官反感的愛好,如:playing computer games,watching TV等。
⑥ 你對報考的專業有興趣(be interested in/be fascinated with/be obsessed with…),可適當舉出一些例子,如經常看相關的書籍、論文、文章、新聞等。在職考生可以強調知識教育對工作的影響: In my work, I find it necessary to broaden my horizons in communication.That’s why I long for entering your prestigious university.3)結束時可以用說:That’s all about me./ Well, that’s who I am.Thanks for your attention.2.家庭、家鄉、學校篇。考官其實是要通過你的家庭、家鄉或學校來了解你的成長的環境。
1)家庭。需要注意的是,考官并不是為了做人口調查而提出這個問題的,所以應該避免流水賬似地介紹家庭成員;要盡量說明家人(尤其是父母)對你造成哪些方面(性格、職業規劃、做事風格等)良好的影響。可以參考以下句式結構:Just like my father, I am especially interested in history./ Though my father is an ordinary worker, his responsible attitude towards work has a great influence on me.2)家鄉。正所謂“一方水土養育一方人”,考官實際上是想從你對家鄉的介紹中找出有關你性格、志向的線索。可以從歷史、歷史人物、著名景點、獨特風俗或特產等方面來簡單介紹,注意要表達熱愛家鄉的情感。
3)學校。如果是本校考生的話,在自我介紹中就可以點到(拉近跟考官的關系)。如果是外校,考官通常會問:Why did you choose our university? 那么我們就可以說說它與報考院校之間的異同,然后說明為什么你選擇這個學校(I do love the atmosphere in your university.It is full of youthful spirits.);要注意的是:一定要說明你對在原來的院校接受教育心存感激之情appreciation(從好的方面說一說),著重強調希望能被錄取,表達自己堅定的決心、展望一下未來。

一、了解口試評分原則與方法
了解口試評分原則與方法
在口試過程中口試教師依照口試評分標準進行評分,而不對兩名考生的口試情況作任何比較。口試教師依照口試各節的全部考查內容對考生進行口語評價,而且依照其中的某一部分獨立評分。
口試時由兩名口試教師對考生的口語能力進行評價。不參與交談的教師根據評分標準中列出的四項內容分項給分。參與交談的教師只給出一個綜合分。
口試教師從以下四方面評價考生口語交際能力:
★語音語調
根據考生為完成口試任務所產出言語的可理解程度評分。其中包括單音的清晰度,連讀、失去爆破、重音、節奏、語調是否運用的正確。只要不對理解造成影響,允許考生在英語表
達中帶有母語口音。
★語法與詞匯
根據考生使用語法和詞匯的恰當性和準確性評分。要求考生能夠運用準確的語法,其中包括時態、語態、主謂一致、單復數、句法結構等是否正確。詞匯方面要求單詞的恰當性和多樣性。允許存在一些不影響理解的錯誤。
★話語運用
根據考生話語的條理性和連貫性評分。要求考生具有較強的語言運用能力,能夠連貫地傳遞信息、闡述觀點等,其講話的方式是否自然、流暢。允許有個別的不連貫之處。★互動交際

1.有些比較隨和,善解人意的口試教師會盡量幫助考生放松情緒,克服緊張心理。在請考生坐定后,他們問考生的第一個問題很可能不是我們所期待的:“what’s your name?”或 “where are you from?”之類的正式問題,而是一個似乎與考試無關的非正式的輕松話題。比如他/她會像接待來訪客人一樣輕松地來一句:“it’s a nice day today,isn’t it?”“your t-shirt looks beautiful!”“how did you come here today?”等等,跟你閑談上一兩句,待你放松之后,再進入正式的面試話題。而我們有些考生被這突如其來的生活話題搞得不知所措,有的竟然啞口無言,目瞪口呆,連一個善意的微笑都沒有回應,心里懷疑自己是不是走錯了房間。要記住:口語考試的目的是考查考生用英語與人交流的能力或者說口試教師看重的是你的“生存英文”(survival english)而不是你的“學術英文”(academic english)。所以這時考生的正確做法應該是順其自然地與口試教師交談,充分展現你與人順暢自如的交流能力,既放松自己,又給口試教師留下一個良好的初步印象。
例如:
interlocutor: “how did you come here today?
candidate: “i came here by bus/taxi/bicycle.”
i: “it’s a nice day today,isn’t it?”
c: “yes,it is.it’s the best season of the year.”
i: “your t-shirt looks beautiful!”
c: “thanks.this is my favourite one.”
當然,不要期待每個口試教師都會千篇一律地用這種方式開始面試,正像不要期待每個口試教師都用非常正式的問題開始提問一樣,要準備迎接各種不同的面孔和問題,口試教師畢竟是人,不是機器。
2.口試教師的第二個目的,同時也是一個順理成章的結果,是得到有關考生英語水平的初步印象。這一印象對于考生的最后得分至關重要。因為根據心理學測試的結果,一個有經驗的面試官可以在口試開始后1-2分鐘之內得出對考生評判的結論,而無需等到口試結束。在余下的時間里,口試教師多半都在按照自己初步結論的慣性思維,從考生的回答中有意無意地尋找符合自己所做結論的證據來進一步證實自己的結論是正確的。其實這種思維方式不僅體現在各種口試中,也普遍存在于社會生活的方方面面,我們對于一個人或任何事物在最初接觸時形成的第一印象往往是很難改變的,除非發生什么戲劇性的情況,這種印象經常是占據主導地位的。
這就意味著我們應該特別注意對第一階段最初幾個問題的回答,盡管它們都是非常簡單的問題,考生絕不能掉以輕心,忽視對這些簡單問題的回答。有些考生在回答這些簡單問題時甚至會犯一些低級錯誤,給口試教師留下不好的第一印象,也影響了自己后面的正常發揮。例如:
i: “what do you do?”
c: “i’m talking with you.”
上面兩句中口試教師明明在問:“你是做什么的?”考生卻回答:“我正在跟你談話。”可以想像,這樣的回答會對考生產生多么不利的第一印象。
口語考試不僅應該用口,還要用心回答每個問題。在回答任何問題時,不要慌慌張張地急于切入主題,大腦中迅速思考一下這個問題可能涉及到的后續問題,盡量把話題引到自己比較熟悉而口試教師又可能感興趣的話題上,而不要匆忙中為自己設下一個陷阱。比如當口試教師問你曾經做過哪些職業或從事過哪些業余活動時,如果你的回答是“i like singing”就可能被問到更多有關singing的問題,如“who is your favourite singer?”“what is your favourite song?”“why do you like him/her/it?”等等。這就要求考生在考前要做好相應的準備,考試中才能應對自如,輕松過關。
三、聽說一體促進提高口語水平
我們學習口語目的是為了與別人進行交流,所以英語口語中的幾個要素的重要次序應為:流利—準確—恰當。也就是說,我們應更注重與人交流的能力而不是僅僅把重點放在語法的正確性上。
首先,我講講我們的學生在英語口語學習中主要存在的障礙:
①過于追求學習的捷徑,爭于求成,沒有真正踏踏實實地去接觸大量的英語材料。②套用中文思維方式去學英語,而不是采用英語思維方式。中國學生學習英語的常用方法是大量地記憶單詞,或大量做題,卻不進入英語本身的語言符號系統中去,而這正是“啞巴英語”產生的根源。
③把英語當成嚴密的科學來學,說話之前首先看是否符合語法,始終用語法來思維。在英語學習中,邏輯思維的運用是必要的,但更重要的是還要運用日常表達的習慣性思維。那么針對這些主要障礙,我提出以下幾個相對有效的學習方法:
1.通過大量的聽力練習,自覺培養英語思維習慣
語言輸入的一個重要途徑之一就是聽。大家知道,口語學習的關鍵是要模仿地道的英語,如果你找不到老外或是練習口語的對象,你可以從聽力材料中借力。聽力材料需包括校園、社會、科普等話題,在進行聽力練習的時候,從中總結口語表達的語言套路,并加以演練,這樣你的口語聽起來就會顯得洋味十足。開始練習時速度可以慢一些,要逐步使自己跟上磁帶的朗讀速度。
具體步驟:先放錄音磁帶,聽段落大意,理解整個故事的情節;再放錄音,盡量聽懂每一句話,實在聽不懂再去看書,搞明白每一個單詞的意思。然后,放一句,暫停,模仿錄音讀一句;然后,放下一句,暫停,再學一句,中間可以回放。當你對文章的發音、語調完全掌握之后,就要在放錄音的同時同步跟讀。爭取讓自己的聲音與錄音磁帶完全重合。如果中間有結巴的地方也不要緊,繼續讀下去,然后再回來重讀。最后,關掉錄音機,朗誦課文。注意使用學到的語音語調。
2.復述練習:通過大量閱讀,提高英語思維能力
了解英漢兩種語言的思維差異需要在平時的閱讀中不斷地感受、體會、積累。由于受母語的影響,有些人講英語往往是先在頭腦中出現漢語,然后才是英語,因此就出現了不顧思維差異的“中式英語”現象。解決這一問題的方法就是加大英語閱讀量,多讀一些簡易讀物。要想提高口語表達水平,所讀的語言材料能夠朗朗上口。你可以試著把自己所讀過的章節或
剛剛讀過的小故事用英語復述出來。相信用這樣的方法練習,一定會提高口語表達的流利程度,并逐步擺脫母語的影響,逐漸形成用英語思維的習慣。正是鑒于這一點,本書第三、四章的長難句及第五、六章的語義段落均選編自口語功能較強的英語國家原版期刊,考生必須對照磁帶上英、美專家的朗讀,加強自己的跟讀練習。
3.堅持背誦和朗讀英語,培養英語語感和英語思維能力
在學漢語時,我們知道“熟讀唐詩三百首,不會作詩也會吟”,英語學習也是這樣,可以這么說,如能熟背英語九百句,口語交流的基本障礙就會被掃除。在實際生活中,在各種不同的情景或場合、對不同的對象表達某一意念時常使用的習慣用語并不太多。這些用語大多具有固定的句型,往往不能用漢譯英的方式直譯出來。一個對口語句型掌握熟練的人,只要掌握2500~3000個常用詞和短語,就能較自由地表達自己的思想。而朗讀英語實際是在“磨牙”、練口腔肌肉,是純粹的“體力活”。成年人英語講不好很大程度上是因為講英文時舌頭不靈活,沒有講英文的習慣。找一些英文段落、繞口令或者典型句型,反復大聲讀,直到舌、齒靈活。我相信只要持之以恒,通過朗讀發聲訓練完全可以提高“口齒”伶俐程度。同時,朗讀會不斷刺激大腦,強化英語語感和英語思維能力。
4.通過英漢口譯練習,鍛煉英語思維
首先要選擇地道的漢英(或英漢)對照讀物,選好材料后,先讀漢語部分,然后逐句口譯成英文,完成一小段后,再對照書上的英文部分并與自己的口譯進行比較,就可以發現口譯中的錯誤、不足以及一點一滴的進步。這種比較過程,就像一位高級教師在指導你,一些我們在學習英語課文時熟視無睹的地道的英語用法通過比較會被重新發現和認識。進行這種“back translation”練習,開始時要選擇較簡單的讀物,而且應大量地做,只做一兩篇效果是不明顯的。這種練習在最初的時候可能進展緩慢,費時較多,但這是一個啟動、加速的過程,只要堅持下去,練上一段時間后你的翻譯速度就會大大加快。經過大量的練習,你會有這樣的感覺:你的翻譯水平大大加強了,你的口語表達能力大大提高了!你的口譯(語)能力和英語思維能力同步增長!<本書的第三、四章所運用的英文語句,我們都基本上采用直譯的方式譯成漢語與其原文按對照方式排列,這樣就是為了方便考生進行“back translation”的練習>
5.尋找學伴一起練習口語
英語角是個不錯的地方,在那我們不但可以練習口語,還可以交流英語學習經驗,開拓視野,提高英語學習興趣。如果找不到學伴或參加英語角的機會很少,那么也沒有關系,有很多種方法可以自己練習口語。比如通過自己對自己來創造英語環境。可以對自己描述所看到的景物,英語口述自己正在做的事情。
6.聽譯法—角色互換:三人一組,模擬翻譯實戰
一人說漢語,一人說英語,扮演老外,一人作翻譯。練習一段時間后互換角色。這是一種非常好的翻譯訓練方法,也是很好的相互學習,取長補短的方法,而且可大大提高反應速度和能力。在這樣的練習中要特別注意短語(詞組)和小詞的運用,中國式的英語尤其是口語,一個很大的缺點就是學生喜歡用大詞,而真正地道的英語口語卻是充滿著短小、活潑、生動的短語,富有生氣。而這些短語大部分有小詞構成。
另外,如果可能我們也可以大聲且快速朗讀英文繞口令(就像相聲演員練嘴),還可以同時口中含塊糖以加大強化訓練的力度。這樣來強化我們的口腔肌肉迅速適應英文發音,使我們的口語相當流利、清晰,而且還有自信。
例如:
