20世紀百大英文小說全覽

美國藍燈書屋的《當代文庫》編輯小組于1998年7月間選出了本世紀一百大英文小說。這份排名書單一公布，即引起舉世回響和評論。國內媒體雖也報導了這件消息，可惜的是最多僅列出前十大小說的名單而已，一般讀者對全部一百本小說是那些仍未能一窺全貌。筆者在《美國的圖書館》（American Libraries）雜志1998年9月號上看到這份百大小說的名單，乃試著查出其小說作者、書名的中文名稱（以一般有中譯本且有通俗譯名者為優先取用原則，如無中譯本，則參考《大英百科全書》、《大美百科全書》及《劍橋百科全書》中之中譯名稱），并加上作者之國籍及出版年代，羅列于后，以供讀者或圖書館參考。百大小說之圈選，爭議難免；然而這畢竟是審視本世紀經典小說之一份參考名單。既是英文小說，入選者國籍自以英、美兩國占多數，愛爾蘭、匈牙利、千里達、印度等皆寥寥充數而已；然不見加拿大、澳洲等較大的英語系國家之作者入選，倒是遺憾之事。百大書單中，以英國航海作家康拉德（Joseph Conrad）入選四本最多；其他如喬伊斯、?？思{、勞倫斯、福斯特、詹姆斯、渥夫各有叁本入選。喬伊斯的《尤里西斯》是第一名，這本書在其他單位選拔的名單（如美國瑞德克里夫出版研習班的「百大英文小說」及紐約公共圖書館圈選的「世紀之書」等）也都名列前茅，文學地位似可蓋棺論定。就出版年代而言，出版最早的是1900年的《嘉莉妹妹》和《吉姆爺》；最近的則是1983年的《紫苑草》；1985年以于尚無入選作品，可見文學作品需要經得起時間考驗。本刊前兩期曾連載紐約公共圖書館「世紀之書」名單（175種），再對照本期之百大英文小說，本世紀之經典，大約應可盡納其中矣！

一.接受業務委托

㈠了解和評價審計對象的可審性；

㈡決策是否考慮接受委托；只有在符合下列條件下才能接受委托：

⑴在初步了解業務環境后，CPA應當考慮承接該業務是否符合獨立性和專業勝任能力等相關職業道德規范的要求⑵承接鑒證業務還應當具備下列所有特征①鑒證對象適當；②使用的標準適當且預期使用者能夠獲取該標準；③CPA能夠獲取充分、適當的證據以支持其結論；④CPA的結論以書面報告形式表述，且表述形式與所提供的保證程度相適應；⑤該業務具有合理的目的。如果鑒證業務的工作范圍受到重大限制，或委托人試圖將CPA的名字和鑒證對象不適當地聯系在一起，財該項業務可能不具有合理的目的。

三.風險評估程序㈠了解客戶及其環境；從6 個方面了解⑴行業狀況、法律環境與監管環境以及其他外部因素⑵客戶的性質⑶客戶對會計政策的選擇和運用⑷客戶的目標、戰略以及相關經營風險⑸客戶財務業績的衡量和評價⑹客戶的內控。它有5要素（①控制環境；②風險評估過程；③信息系統與溝通；④控制活動；⑤對控制的監督），2個層面（①從整體層面了解評估它，②從業務層面了解評估它）
