I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude.I am referring to that unfortunate accident the other day, when I was knocked off my bike by a taxi.If it had not been for your timely assistance in giving me first aid, I fear that the consequences might have been much serious.Everyone agrees that it was your quick-witted response in that emergency that has led to this satisfactory outcome.Although nowadays people in mounting numbers talk about the need to be unselfish, we see very few people practice what they preach. If there were more people like you, this world would be a much nicer place.Yours sincerely,Li Ming(107)

Dear Kate, I wonder if you can lend me your MLA Handbook for Academic Writing.I am in the process of writing my graduation thesis, and need to consult the book now and then for standard formatting. Thus I might need to keep the book for about a month and a half, and I hope that would not bring any inconvenience to you.I assure you that I will maintain the book in good condition. If possible, please give me a call and I will come by your house to pick up the book. Thanks a lot.Yours, Judy 齊頭式: Dear Kate,I wonder if you can lend me your MLA Handbook for Academic Writing.I am in the process of writing my graduation thesis, and need to consult the book now and then for standard formatting. Thus I might need to keep the book for about a month and a half, and I hope that would not bring any inconvenience to you.I assure you that I will maintain the book in good condition. If possible, please give me a call and I will come by your house to pick up the book. Thanks a lot.

Dear Sir/Sirs, Dear Madam/Madams, Dear Sir or Madam, To Whom It May Concern 正文:
I am looking forward to your reply. Please pass my best wishes to all your family.
如果是用于關(guān)系非常親密的朋友或者親人,則還可以用“Yours affectionately, Affectionately, Love, Lovingly, Cheers, Your devoted friend, Your loving son(daughter, nephew, niece, grandson, granddaughter, father, mother, husband, wife, etc.)”。

(Invitation)
晚宴、舞會(huì)等請(qǐng)柬用“request the pleasure(or honor)of your company ”來(lái)邀請(qǐng)。在教堂結(jié)婚,邀請(qǐng)出席婚禮用“request the honor of your presence”,中文的意思是“敬請(qǐng)出席”或“恭請(qǐng)光臨“。
