Never Lose the Vision of Reality
Talking about dreams and future, I would say, dreams should not be too far from reality.Detaching from reality, lacking solid and practical actions, any future plan, and dream project will be nothing short of daydreaming, or, at most, well-intentioned thinking. Here I am reminded of the year 2000, when 191 member states of the United Nations held a World Summit Conference, which made a declaration known as the Millennium Development Goals. The goals for 2015, which all the member states pledged to meet, were such as elimination of hunger and poverty, drastic reductions in child mortality rates, reversing the spread of AIDS and other deadly diseases…etc
Now, 6 years later, almost half way to the final year of 2015, do we see some signs of realizing the pledged goals? Today, half the world---nearly three billion people, still live on less than two U.S.dollars a day;in the world today 270 million children have n access to safe water, about 11 million children die before they reach the age of five each year.Have we come to harness the spread of AIDS? The answer is also no, and indeed is spreading faster and wider than before. What is even worse, in the wake of the Iraqi War, there is the nuclear crisis in Iran, and unsettled situation in many places. The vision of us young people may be limited, but the limited vision we do have and care about everyday cannot change our conviction that our world does not seem to promise a very bright future before us.Who is to blame for all this? Of course we can blame the governments: how disappointing they all seem to be: in one moment they are pledging to build a better future for people, and in another moment, they ignite wars killing more innocent people. But don’t you think that we ordinary folks should also take some responsibilities for, say, elimination of poverty? When we quickly rush to schools, work places, or places of entertainment, how many times do we stop to hand over some food to the deprived on the streets? When we are browsing the newspaper for the news about what is going in this world, how often do we stop to think about the actual ways we can help the people
who are suffering from various disastrous situations? In fact how much have we done to help those who are in need just around us?
Dreams are certainly beautiful and indispensable to our life, for they give us inspiration and
motivation.Plans for the future are certainly necessary, for they provide us with goals and guides. But what is most important is actions on a day-to-day basis. To make our dreams come true, to realize our future goals, we need to base our vision on reality and we need to put our words into our deeds. In other words, while human beings should be, first and foremost, idealists and thinkers, we should, all the more be realists and practical doers.

演講稿:Our Future: A Battle between Dreams and Reality
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen:
When I was in the primary school, I have a dream.I want to invent a device which could bring you from one place to another in no time at all. When I was in the secondary school, my dream was to study in my ideal university. And when eventually I got into the university, my dream was to graduate. How pathetic! When we grow up, we dream less and become more realistic. Why? Why do we have to change our dreams, so, so in order to let it be “fulfilled”? Why do we have to surrender to the so-called “reality”? What IS the reality actually?
Ladies and gentlemen, the reality is not real.It is a barrier keeping us from all the possible fantasies.Flying, for example, had been a dream to mankind for thousands of years.A hundred years ago, “man could not fly” was still regarded as the “reality”.Now if that was really the reality, what did the Wright brothers do? How did some of you get to Macau? Only when we believe that the reality is not real can we soar with our dreams.People say that our future is a battle between the reality and our dreams. And if, unfortunately, Mr.Reality wins this war, then I see no future of mankind at all.AIDS will never be curable as this IS the reality;People living in the undeveloped countries will suffer from starvation forever as this IS the reality;4)Disputes among different countries would never be settled as this misunderstandings and intolerance IS the reality.Ladies and gentlemen, how many of you have a dream of being able to make a lot of money? Please raise your hands.Oh, quite a number of you!Actually, ladies and gentlemen, this is not a dream, but a task.Every one of us has to make a living, right? Anyway I hope your task will be accomplished. How many of you think that you have already fulfilled your dream and that you don't dream anymore? Dear 5)adjudicators, what do you think? C.S.Lewis once said, “You are never too old to dream a new dream.” So for our future, please dream and be unrealistic. Now that I am a university student, my goal is to graduate with excellences. But at the same time, I have a dream deeply rooted in our future. One day, people living in the areas now 6)sweltering with the
horror of wars will be able to sit with their families and enjoy their every moment. One day, people from the rich countries are willing to share what they have with those from the poor countries and those from the poor countries will eventually be able to make their own happy living themselves. One day, different cultures in this age of globalization will coexist with tolerance and the unfriendly confrontations among them will be 7)eliminated.One day, the globe will share the dream with me and we will all contribute to making our dream come true. One day, our dream will defeat the reality!Thank you very much.

Dream vs.Reality
Last month, I happened to watch an interview of a Chinese student studying abroad. At one point the hostess asked: “For how long have you been away from home?” “Three years,” he said.“How do you keep in touch with your parents?” “We wrote emails,” the young man replied proudly.“Then I guess your parents learned how to send an email just because of you, right?” Having heard this from the hostess, the young man was speechless for a long time.Indeed, in the world today, it is not easy for the elder generation to keep up to date with the rapid development of technology. This story reminded me of my concerns when I first left home for college three years ago: My parents don't understand English. They couldn't identify the buttons marked in English on our remote controls. So when I was away from home, who would help them select Chinese subtitles when they wanted to watch a foreign movie on our DVD? My parents don't use pinyin, the phonetic symbols for Chinese. Therefore, they couldn't input Chinese characters into their cell phones using the keyboard.Without me, whom could they depend on when they needed to reply to a text message? I worried a lot, so before I left, I carefully prepared a flow chart on how to operate the DVD player, and stored as many template messages in my parents' phones as I could possibly think of.Fortunately, my efforts did work for my parents. However, what makes me more optimistic is that society at large is becoming more concerned about the elder generation, and the fruit of technological innovation is no longer believed to be an asset only for the young people.Today, with simple Chinese instructions on the remote control, even my 80-year-old grandfather can play his favorite TV program on a DVD.Last year, with the money I earned from a part-time job, I bought my mother a new cell phone which supports handwritten messages instead of inputting words through a keyboard. And now, my mother no longer has to use the templates messages I've stored for her, instead, she now sends me messages as long as 300 words. The joy I have when reading those text messages is
inexpressible, not only because of the words she writes, but also because our technology has indeed become a real blessing in her life. Two years ago, the counter service in our neighborhood bank was replaced by an ATM station. With those intelligent machines, people can carry out all their regular banking services. My father, however, was not used to such a change.Thereafter, he always walked three blocks further to a bank with a counter to use their services. In the future, however, this will no longer happen, because when I went to that ATM station again last spring
festival, I found a delightful change: the terminals there have adopted a voice guidance system. While I was there, I noticed a grey haired man using the voice instructions. And despite his hesitation between pressing the buttons, he left the bank with a satisfactory smile. What a marvel! My vision for the future was unfolding before my very eyes.At that moment, I rejoiced thinking of my father, someday, standing there using the banking service.I rejoiced thinking of myself that when I become old, the new inventions can still ease my life rather than making the life harder.

i did, when i first time heard it from the radio.and suddenly realized that we are born to be the same.this eye-catching news approved what we called “global village”, and then told us we are born with a “global citizenship” just like with the character.however, same to the character, global citizenship is not only accepted by oneself ,but also by others.as traditional chinese saying goes, “thousands of miles should begin at first step”.only if we have a good beginning at home — step first we firmly stepped, it would be easy for other global citizens to admit us.but you may feel a little bored to listen to my lecture and ask “what do you really want us to know?” so let’s pay attention to our motherland.china has set us good examples to favor the title “global citizenship begins at home”.more than a hundred years ago, when the old chinese government limited economic growth and lock his doors against the world.he missed the best opportunity to develop himself.he abandoned home, but was eager for an absolute global citizenship.he wanted to ignore the first step but jump far.let alone other countries with an ulterior motive, i cannot agree.but now everything is changing.china is enjoying his broaden global citizenship in global affairs.only when he is getting stronger himself, the global citizenship is truly owned by himself.honor judges and dear friends, remember “global citizenship begins at home”, our dream should be that we keep on going to conform the changing world and keep our global citizenship worthy.as long as our dream outweighs our ability, the world, our country and ourselves will be forever young.that’s is our destiny.and this is our moment.thank you for listening.good night.演講大賽英文演講稿 good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.the title of my speech is the development of traditional culture : the 21st century has started a new history.great changes have taken place in the world because of the prosperous development of technology and science.some of you might have noticed that more and more people around us have started to learn a second language besides english.but maybe you will ask me “isn?t it a good thing ?”
no , absolutely not.it certainly meets the objective request of the economic globalization.while we accept western culture, some of us lost themselves in the ?cultural sea?.chances are that we are likely to lose our own traditional cultures.so ,the cultural globalization which is caused by economic globalization may be harmful to our country?s scientific development.as is well known to all , culture is the pillar of science.but there exist two phenomenon in the process of globation.one is some people called ?mr west ?。
