what does overpopulation feel like？when we move slowly through the city in a tazi. when we enter a crowded slum district. when the temperature is high and when the air is thick with dust and smoke. the streets are crowded with people. the streets seem alive with people. people eating. people washing. people talking. people sleeping. people visiting each other，arguing and screaming. people relieving themselves. people pushing their hands through the taxi windows，begging. people leading animals. people，people，people，people. as we drive slowly through the crowd，sounding the taxis horn，the dust，heat，noise and cooking fires made it like a scene from hell！i admit，frightening.

to the nature，overpopulation is a big problem. more people，more pollution. and the big population is threatening the nature every second.

the rapid rise in world population is not creating problems only for the developing countries. the whole world faces the problem that raw materials are being used up at an increasing rate and food production can not keep up with the population increase. people in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the worlds resources，its food，fuel and land，and cause the most pollution. a baby born in the united states will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the worlds resources than a baby born in india. unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population explosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land，food and fuel，and the future will bring poverty，misery and war to us all.

for most of the developing countries，it is a good idea to control the population growth. for example，china has carried out birth control for years. and this plan has a GREat effect on the world population.

if the population continues to increase，if the air and water continue to be polluted，if we dont do something to protect wild-plant and wildlife species will be declining. species and biological communities have difficulty adapting to change. economic opportunities and the quality of life of future generations are also put at risk. by protecting nature，we protect ourselves.

lets unite together，hand in hand we stand all across the land.

we can make this world in which to live. hand in hand. control the population growth. take good care of our nature.

it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day，while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays，because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.

frankly speaking，i don’t quite agree with ed，we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions.（examples）why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.

there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand，some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful，such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand，the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend，chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.

with the further development of the whole world，the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. we are indeed from different nations，but we are the citizens of the same world，so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture？the answer is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.

at last i’d like to share a famouse saying of gandhi with all of you，that is：if you want to change the world，then you must change yourself first.”

most people would like to be popular with others，but not everyone can achieve this goal. what is the secret to popularity？in fact，it is very simple. the first step is to improve our appearance. we should always make sure that we stay in good shape and dress well. when we are healthy and well-groomed，we will not only look better but also feel better. in addition，we should smile and appear friendly. after all，our facial expression is an important part of our appearance. if we can do this，people will be attracted to our good looks and impressed by our confidence.

The process is not the road itself but the attitudes and feelings ,the caution, courage and persistance we have as we encounter new experience and unexpected obstacles. Take myself as an example, I changed my major when I became a postgraduate. After the choice,days have been harsh for me.I cannot understand the new lessons at all. For they are closely related to mathmatics which I learned nothing about before. However wuth the belief that this is the great chance for me to experience new ideas and challenge myself,I persisted. I asked for help fr-om every channel and reorgonized my life. Gradually I could understand some parts and even found maths interesting.Moreover, I learned to act instead of complaining. In retrospect,the choice left no trace in my mind but the happiness and bitterness of the past four months becomes an unforgetable experience in my life.

第一音符：勤學

張衡曾說過：“人生在勤，不索何獲。”高爾基也說過：“天才出于勤奮。”這些話都說得千真萬確，古今中外，幾乎所有取得突出成就的人都有一部勤學、刻苦、奮斗競爭的歷史，絕少有靠投機取巧取勝的。東漢的孫敬和戰國的蘇秦懸梁刺股，而成為著名的政治家;波蘭的居里夫人十年如一日勤奮研究科學，才發現了貢獻全人類的鐳元素;歌唱家宋祖英勤奮練聲，才會在世界音樂大廳維也納唱響全世界。成為名人需要勤學，普通人完成事業也要勤學。農民種田要勤才有收獲，2人生產要勤才有效益，商人做生意要勤才有利潤。學生學習要勤才有成績

第二音符：識禮

勤學使我們長知識，但光有知識沒有禮節也是行不遠的。知書還要達禮!只有勤學識禮才能為自己增添魅力和光彩。

“識禮” 既要懂得禮儀，知道禮節，深知做人的道理。

我國古代有許多關于“禮”的成語，像：彬彬有禮、知書達禮、恭而有禮等。我國自古就被稱為“禮儀之邦”，最看重一個“禮”字。從一個“禮”字可以看出一個人的學識、品格，識禮之士必是個有修養、有文化的得體之士。“識禮”是對別人和自己的尊重，“識禮”是與人交往的“試金石”。一個人不識禮必成孤獨無援的人，一個國家不識禮必成為必塞落后的國家。在這個合作的社會里，唯有“識禮”才能和諧致遠。

第三音符：求實

“求實”，顧名思義就是實事求是，追求真理。“實事求是”是勤奮刻苦，銳意進取的敬業精神。堅持“實事求是”，就是嚴格按客觀規律辦事，這就是成就一番事業的必要條件。

古人說過：“知之為知之，不知為不知，是知也。”作為當代學生，我們也需要不弄虛作假的學習態度。不復制別人的答案，不濫竽充數。既要追求和掌握真理，又要排除各種干擾勇敢地去堅持和捍衛真理。在這個務實的社會里，唯有“求實”才能文明進步。

第四音符：奮進

“天行健，君子以自強不息。”這是《周易》中的一句話，意思是君子應該像天宇一樣運行不息，即使癲沛流離，也不屈不撓;如果你是君子天的運動剛強勁健，相應于此，君子處世，應像天一樣，自我力求進步，剛毅堅卓，發奮圖強，永不停息。幾千年前的古人都知道此理，何況文明社會中的我們?

人要保持一顆自強不息的心，要與困難做斗爭，正所謂“世上無難事，只要肯攀登”。困難像彈簧，你強它就弱，你弱它就強。在這個危機四伏的社會里，唯有發奮圖強、勇于創新，才能迎難而上。

人們對道德規范的敬重，人們心目中的誠信、道德人格和做人的尊嚴，就是人們的道德信仰。道德是一種實踐理性，它要解決的是“我應該怎么做?”的問題。“我應該怎么做?”包括兩個方面：一是我應該怎么做事?二是我應該怎么做人?二者不可分割，后者比前者更根本，且要通過前者表現出來。道德信仰涉及這兩個方面，但其核心是第二個方面。道德信仰是對道德理想目標的確認和篤信，是對怎樣做人的設定，是對理想人格的設定。道德信仰以人格來證明或顯示人性的神圣和尊嚴，顯示人的價值。一種道德信仰的確立，代表著一個道德價值體系的形成，又是對人們的道德認知、道德情感、道德意志、道德人格、道德觀念、道德動機的整合，從而將人們的各種關于道德的零散的信念和價值觀念統一起來，形成一個高低有序的道德價值觀系統，成為規范一個人全部人生活動和行為選擇的基本框架。整合一旦完成，作為一個價值系統整體，道德信仰又對道德生活的各個方面發揮重要的作用。

在中國傳統文化中，“誠”非常接近道德信仰。孟子說：“誠者天之道也，思誠者人之道也。至誠而不動者，未之有也，不誠未有能動者也。”孟子所說的“誠”是真實無欺的意思。天是真實無欺的，人也應該追求真實無欺。達到至誠就能使人感動，達不到至誠就不能使人感動。荀子也重視“誠”，認為“誠”是所有德行的基礎。他說：“君子養心莫善于誠，致誠則無它事矣。”把“誠”當作最重要的道德觀念的是《中庸》。《中庸》說：“誠者，天之道也;誠之者，人之道也。誠者，不勉而中，不思而得，從容中道，圣人也。誠之者，擇善而固執之者也。”可見，至誠是一種盡性知天并達到天人合一的崇高境界。這是中國特色的道德信仰，它不依靠宗教，不通過神學，而從人性與天性、人道與天道的合一，從相信人性善并通過盡性知天的途徑，達到天人合一的理想的人生境界。

令人遺憾的是，在現實生活中，一些人經不起利益的誘惑，做出了很多傷天害理之事。出現這類現象的原因盡管是多方面的，但缺乏道德信仰是其中最普遍的原因。當前，在認真貫徹《公民道德建設實施綱要》中，在加強誠信教育中，我們應高度重視道德信仰的重要性。
