Good morning, everyone!

I am Ma Haidong of the 2 class of martial arts science. It is a great honor to stand here, representing the 20xx graduates of the Institute of animal science and technology, to say goodbye to our alma mater, to teach our teachers tirelessly, to say goodbye to the classmates at sunset, and to say goodbye to this unforgettable time. First of all, let me, on behalf of all the graduates, express our heartfelt thanks and respect to all the leaders and teachers who have worked hard.

Four years, more than 1400 days and nights, it sounds so long, and when we face today, we feel that it is so short. Some people say that time is a book that is too hasty. Now when it hastily passes, these more than 1400 nights carry too many memories. I cant forget the freshness and confusion when I entered the school. We will say goodbye to the students who get along with each other, say goodbye to the teacher, bid farewell to the beautiful picturesque campus, and step on a new journey. david brooks writes today that there are large class differences in parenting styles. these different parent styles may explain the continued success of the upper class. hey, this fits in very well into the parenting theme week at 11d. thanks, davey. (and thanks, jeremy, for the early morning e-mail.)

david picks up on the work of annette lareau who finds that although working class children are more innocent and enjoy more freedom, they havent been prepared for economic success as well as upper class kids. (i have copied the whole article below the flap. take that, times select)

the funny thing about academics is that although they are highly educated, they are poorly paid. they are socio-economic anomalies. they either reside as the poor shlubs in wealthy neighborhoods or as the weirdoes in working class towns. we’ve been the class outsiders for my whole life, and i’ve had the chance to observe both life styles closely.

there are huge differences between the parenting styles between the upper and working class families. poor families respond less quickly to learning problems and are less aggressive with the school bureaucracy. they are less likely to verbally interact with their kids. they are less involved in homework activities. middle and upper class parents are more likely to reward independent thinking. all those factors will definitely impact on their kids’ futures.

but i hope that brooks and his pet academic aren’t insinuating that parenting styles alone impact on a child’s economic success. way too many other factors there. poor families are also likely to live in towns with poorer schools. peers will be more troubled. the poor families will be coping with a variety of problems that make it hard to be good parents – financial stress, drug and alcohol problems, lack of health care, depression. and really smart kids can in many instances over come all that and succeed, though even the smart ones still face obstacles. i would love to know if the researchers controlled for all that.

these parenting differences also don’t negate our obligation to helping these groups reach their potential.

that said, i’m sure that parenting styles are one factor among many that determine a child’s socio-economic future. my kid is already on such a different path from some of his buddies from school. at six years old, their futures are already written on their faces.

what i would like to do is to take the best parts of both parenting practices. somehow combine the respect for adults, the freedom, and the innocence of working class homes with the value for education, the aggressive independence, and confidence of the upper class. it’s a tricky line to navigate, but that’s what i’m going for.

Cutting through complexity to find a solution runs through four predictable stages: determine a goal, find the highest-leverage approach, discover the ideal technology for that approach, and in the meantime, make the smartest application of the technology that you already have — whether it’s something sophisticated, like a drug, or something simpler, like a bednet.

The AIDS epidemic offers an example. The broad goal, of course, is to end the disease. The highest-leverage approach is prevention. The ideal technology would be a vaccine that gives lifetime immunity with a single dose. So governments, drug companies, and foundations fund vaccine research. But their work is likely to take more than a decade, so in the meantime, we have to work with what we have in hand – and the best prevention approach we have now is getting people to avoid risky behavior.

Pursuing that goal starts the four-step cycle again. This is the pattern. The crucial thing is to never stop thinking and working – and never do what we did with malaria and tuberculosis in the 20th century – which is to surrender to complexity and quit.

The final step – after seeing the problem and finding an approach – is to measure the impact of your work and share your successes and failures so that others learn from your efforts.

You have to have the statistics, of course. You have to be able to show that a program is vaccinating millions more children. You have to be able to show a decline in the number of children dying from these diseases. This is essential not just to improve the program, but also to help draw more investment from business and government.

But if you want to inspire people to participate, you have to show more than numbers; you have to convey the human impact of the work – so people can feel what saving a life means to the families affected.

I remember going to Davos some years back and sitting on a global health panel that was discussing ways to save millions of lives. Millions! Think of the thrill of saving just one persons life – then multiply that by millions. … Yet this was the most boring panel Ive ever been on – ever. So boring even I couldnt bear it.

What made that experience especially striking was that I had just come from an event where we were introducing version 13 of some piece of software, and we had people jumping and shouting with excitement. I love getting people excited about software – but why cant we generate even more excitement for saving lives?

You cant get people excited unless you can help them see and feel the impact. And how you do that – is a complex question.

Still, Im optimistic. Yes, inequity has been with us forever, but the new tools we have to cut through complexity have not been with us forever. They are new – they can help us make the most of our caring – and thats why the future can be different from the past.

The defining and ongoing innovations of this age – biotechnology, the computer, the Internet – give us a chance we’ve never had before to end extreme poverty and end death from preventable disease.

Sixty years ago, George Marshall came to this commencement and announced a plan to assist the nations of post-war Europe. He said: “I think one difficulty is that the problem is one of such enormous complexity that the very mass of facts presented to the public by press and radio make it exceedingly difficult for the man in the street to reach a clear appraisement of the situation. It is virtually impossible at this distance to grasp at all the real significance of the situation.”

Thirty years after Marshall made his address, as my class graduated without me, technology was emerging that would make the world smaller, more open, more visible, less distant.

The emergence of low-cost personal computers gave rise to a powerful network that has transformed opportunities for learning and communicating.

The magical thing about this network is not just that it collapses distance and makes everyone your neighbor. It also dramatically increases the number of brilliant minds we can have working together on the same problem – and that scales up the rate of innovation to a staggering degree.

At the same time, for every person in the world who has access to this technology, five people dont. That means many creative minds are left out of this discussion -- smart people with practical intelligence and relevant experience who dont have the technology to hone their talents or contribute their ideas to the world.

We need as many people as possible to have access to this technology, because these advances are triggering a revolution in what human beings can do for one another. They are making it possible not just for national governments, but for universities, corporations, smaller organizations, and even individuals to see problems, see approaches, and measure the impact of their efforts to address the hunger, poverty, and desperation George Marshall spoke of 60 years ago.

Members of the Harvard Family: Here in the Yard is one of the great collections of intellectual talent in the world.

What for?

There is no question that the faculty, the alumni, the students, and the benefactors of Harvard have used their power to improve the lives of people here and around the world. But can we do more? Can Harvard dedicate its intellect to improving the lives of people who will never even hear its name?

Let me make a request of the deans and the professors – the intellectual leaders here at Harvard: As you hire new faculty, award tenure, review curriculum, and determine degree requirements, please ask yourselves:

Should our best minds be dedicated to solving our biggest problems?

Should Harvard encourage its faculty to take on the worlds worst inequities? Should Harvard students learn about the depth of global poverty … the prevalence of world hunger … the scarcity of clean water …the girls kept out of school … the children who die from diseases we can cure?

Should the worlds most privileged people learn about the lives of the worlds least privileged?

These are not rhetorical questions – you will answer with your policies.

My mother, who was filled with pride the day I was admitted here – never stopped pressing me to do more for others. A few days before my wedding, she hosted a bridal event, at which she read aloud a letter about marriage that she had written to Melinda. My mother was very ill with cancer at the time, but she saw one more opportunity to deliver her message, and at the close of the letter she said: “From those to whom much is given, much is expected.”

When you consider what those of us here in this Yard have been given – in talent, privilege, and opportunity – there is almost no limit to what the world has a right to expect from us.

In line with the promise of this age, I want to exhort each of the graduates here to take on an issue – a complex problem, a deep inequity, and become a specialist on it. If you make it the focus of your career, that would be phenomenal. But you dont have to do that to make an impact. For a few hours every week, you can use the growing power of the Internet to get informed, find others with the same interests, see the barriers, and find ways to cut through them.

Dont let complexity stop you. Be activists. Take on the big inequities. It will be one of the great experiences of your lives.

You graduates are coming of age in an amazing time. As you leave Harvard, you have technology that members of my class never had. You have awareness of global inequity, which we did not have. And with that awareness, you likely also have an informed conscience that will torment you if you abandon these people whose lives you could change with very little effort. You have more than we had; you must start sooner, and carry on longer.

Knowing what you know, how could you not?

And I hope you will come back here to Harvard 30 years from now and reflect on what you have done with your talent and your energy. I hope you will judge yourselves not on your professional accomplishments alone, but also on how well you have addressed the worlds deepest inequities … on how well you treated people a world away who have nothing in common with you but their humanity.

i am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world.i never graduated from college.truth be told, this is the closest i've ever gotten to a college graduation.today i want to tell you three stories from my life.that's it.no big deal.just three stories.the first story is about connecting the dots.i dropped out of reed college after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before i really quit.so why did i drop out?

it started before i was born.my biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption.she felt very strongly that i should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife.except that when i popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl.so my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: “we have an unexpected baby boy;do you want him?” they said: “of course.” my biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school.she refused to sign the final adoption papers.she only relented a few months later when my parents promised that i would someday go to college.and 17 years later i did go to college.but i naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition.after six months, i couldn't see the value in it.i had no idea what i wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out.and here i was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life.so i decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out ok.it was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions i ever made.the minute i dropped out i could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.it wasn't all romantic.i didn't have a dorm room, so i slept on the floor in friends' rooms, i returned coke bottles for the 5 deposits to buy food with, and i would walk the 7 miles across town every sunday night to get one good meal a week at the hare krishna temple.i loved it.and much of what i stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on.let me give you one example: reed college at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country.throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed.because i had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, i decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this.i learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great.it was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and i found it fascinating.none of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life.but ten years later, when we were designing the first macintosh computer, it all came back to me.and we designed it all into the mac.it was the first computer with beautiful typography.if i had never dropped in on that single course in college, the mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts.and since windows just copied the mac, its likely that no personal computer would have them.if i had never dropped out, i would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do.of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when i was in college.but it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.again, you can't connect the dots looking forward;you can only connect them looking backwards.so you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.you have to trust in somethingthe macintoshthat i had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me.i met with david packard and bob noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly.i was a very public failure, and i even thought about running away from the valley.but something slowly began to dawn on me – i still loved what i did.the turn of events at apple had not changed that one bit.i had been rejected, but i was still in love.and so i decided to start over.i didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.the heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything.it freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.during the next five years, i started a company named next, another company named pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife.pixar went on to create the worlds first computer animated feature film, toy story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world.in a remarkable turn of events, apple bought next, i retuned to apple, and the technology we developed at next is at the heart of apple's current renaissance.and laurene and i have a wonderful family together.i'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if i hadn't been fired from apple.it was awful tasting medicine, but i guess the patient needed it.sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick.don't lose faith.i'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that i loved what i did.you've got to find what you love.and that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.and the only way to do great work is to love what you do.if you haven't found it yet, keep looking.don't settle.as with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.and, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.so keep looking until you find it.don't settle.my third story is about death.when i was 17, i read a quote that went something like: “if you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right.” it made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, i have looked in the 作為一名語文老師，我想在此和大家說說學習語文的重要性。語文不但是人們在日常生活中交流的基本工具，而且是進行一切學術研究的基礎。對此，我國著名數學家華羅庚和蘇步青的觀點非常有說服力。華羅庚認為：“要打好基礎，不管學文科學理科，都要學好語文。因為語文天生就重要。不會說話，不會寫文章，行之不遠，存之不久。”蘇步青曾說：“如果允許復旦大學單獨招生，我的意見是第一堂先考語文，考后就改試卷。不合格的，其他的科目就不必考了。語文你都不行，別的是學不通的?！?/p>

我再給大家打一個比方：語文對于其他學科來說，就像跑步對于整個體育運動一樣。表面上看，跑步往往給人簡單、含金量不高的印象，似乎并不需要太多的技巧，不像足球、籃球那樣精彩，也不如體操、跳水那樣專業。但實際上，跑步對體能和技巧都有很高的要求，并且是其他體育運動得以進行和出色表現的關鍵。說白了，跑步跑不好，足球、籃球你搶不過人家，跑步跑不好，體操、跳水你沒有爆發力。所以，跑步是整個體育運動的基礎，語文是所有學科的基礎?？梢妼W好語文是多么的重要！

我是六（一）班朱仲恒的媽媽，非常榮幸能在這里代表學生家長發言。今天對于我們所有的人，都是個意義非凡的日子?？粗⒆觽兊囊粡垙埿δ?，一下子讓我想起六年前，20xx年9月1日，記得那個早晨，我把朱仲恒送進附小這個陌生的校園，他那時是那么幼小、稚嫩，而且胳膊還骨折了，對未來的學校生活既好奇，又忐忑，我的心情也是既高興，又擔心。光陰似箭，六年時間轉瞬即逝，六年前的稚嫩的小樹苗，在各位老師的精心呵護下一天天茁壯成長了，已經長成了一棵棵生機勃勃的小樹?？矗麄兂瘹馀畈?，風華正茂，對未來滿懷信心，充滿希望。

六年來，作為家長，我們密切關注著孩子們的每一點成長，每一點變化，每一個進步，我們看到孩子們，告別了天真，走向了沉穩；脫去了稚氣，獲得了自信；拋棄了依賴，學會了選擇，懂得了自尊、自立、自強。

在為孩子的健康成長感到欣慰的同時，我更想說的是要衷心感謝學校和老師，在這六年里，你們的辛苦與無私的奉獻，我們有目共睹。我們的郭明蘋老師、孔素蓮老師陪伴了孩子們六年，蔣玲老師、周丹紅老師、周國強老師帶領孩子們在語文的王國里遨游，朱揚丹老師、錢云月老師幫助孩子們認識了神奇的ABC，還有劉平老師、皮慶媛校長、陶筱青校長、牛金娟老師、郭佳老師、李琦老師、儲老師，你們不僅引導孩子們在知識的海洋中汲取養分，更教給孩子們做人的道理，讓他們明善惡、辨是非，關心他們的身心健康，讓孩子既成才，更成人。

學校的各項課外活動，元宵的燈會與猜謎、運動會、春秋游、歌詠比賽、拔河跳繩比賽、跳蚤市場、參觀部隊、參加電視節目的錄制、紅領巾電視臺的編演、外出采訪，豐富的課外活動，讓孩子們更聰明、更樂觀、更團結、更自信。

我同樣要感謝我們的孩子們。這六年，對你們來說，是非常不容易的六年。你們原本懵懵懂懂，現在學習了那么多的知識，懂得了那么多的道理；你們原本是家里的小太陽，現在學會了集體生活，學會了結交朋友。你們有快樂，也有煩惱；受到過表揚，也受到過批評；經歷過成功，也體驗過失敗。我相信，你們每一個人都品嘗過各種各樣的酸甜苦辣。無論學習成績如何，你們每一個人都是優秀的、成功的，因為你們都已經變得更加獨立，更有思想，更加強壯。所以，衷心感謝你們的勤奮和努力。

再過兩個月，你們就要跨入中學了，從此開始人生的另一段新篇章。我的心情就像六年前一樣，又一次充滿了期待，也有些許的緊張，但我知道，你們已經不再是那時的你們了，你們長大了，能夠面對任何挑戰。我相信你們能做到：今天我以附小為榮，明天附小以我為榮。

1、要懂得珍惜。一位哲學家曾經說過，如果生命有兩次，每個人都可以成為偉人。也就是說，當一個人知道自己還一事無成時，你已不可能再回到當年，再去經歷學習、工作。這時，他才感覺到已虛度光陰，假如能重來，一定刻苦學習，可惜已不可能。人的成長，就是在這不經意之中完成的，你現在知道了努力，將來就不會后悔。

2、要胸懷大志。有志不在年高，無志空喊百歲。希望你們早日樹立自己的遠大理想，并為之奮斗。有了遠大的理想，不去努力等于沒有。空有目標，不踏踏實實地去學習，去追求，那什么理想目標都不能實現。在人生的道路上，沒有艱辛與曲折，沒有持之以恒的態度，是難以到達成功的彼岸的。

今天是個喜慶的日子，陽光燦爛，天人感應?，F在，我要送君送到南大門外，有句話兒要交代。

我在開學典禮上講過話，那場合的心情是收獲的興高采烈。畢業送行是什么心情呢?十分復雜，百感交集。如同送女兒出嫁，有各得其所的欣慰，依依不舍的親情;還有學生出師的如釋重負，有兒行千里的母擔憂，還有開閘放水的暢快、送部隊出征的激昂。總之，悲悲喜喜那都是老師們的事，諸君只管滿懷豪情地出發吧!

走出校門，海闊天空，有千千萬萬的門等你。有寫字樓門，工廠門，機關門，軍營門，國門都是敞開的。一切剛剛開始，一切都有可能。

社會是比較復雜的，必須勇敢面對。如同從溫室里移到大田，風吹雨打日曬，躲不過去，誰也替不了你。就業、創業是一個新世界，很有挑戰性。當然也很累，累了可以躺平歇會，可不敢一直躺平啊!躺的了初一，躺不到十五!我相信各位同學是不會躺平的，剛剛開閘放出的水，正是新一波的后浪。

社會是比較復雜的，建議簡單應對。簡單不是單純，“以不變應萬變”就是簡單，“有所為有所不為”就是簡單，“不忘初心”就是簡單，“一根筋”就是簡單。“天下本無事，庸人自擾之”，我們當然不是庸人。我喜歡把復雜的事情簡單化，結果，許多復雜的事情真的就簡單了。長期以來我業余自費琢磨兩個問題，一是長壽的秘訣，二是成功的秘訣。我破解了。破解以后，其實很簡單。長壽秘訣就是生活規律;成功秘訣就是堅持不懈。成功有時不需要精明，更依賴堅持，穩重堅守就是成功。

大學畢業，您就不是平民了。因為，帶上學位帽，您就是士人了，就是知識分子了;因為，在八朝古都、百年老校受過高等教育，您有了人文情懷，或者說應當有人文情懷。什么叫人文情懷?有畏懼心，有羞恥感，有良知，有天下情懷，能夠承擔社會的責任和痛苦，有獨立思考能力。無論作為知識分子還是老板，千萬不要泯滅與生俱來的善良，不要丟掉藏在心底的純真，因為，那是作為人的基因和理由。純真辟油膩，善良辟什么呢?善良辟邪!

我小的時候喜歡上房，年輕時常常登山，現在能上樹。忘不了在泰山頂上俯瞰泰安城，感到那些高樓大廈很渺小，感到那些滾滾紅塵很無聊--我超脫了。換個角度看人生，能夠得到更新，加油。我的意思是，各位前程遠大，見識不凡，玉樹臨風，理應高瞻遠矚，不會汲汲于眼前的蠅頭小利，追求的是大目標。河大鐵塔牌的學生有個特點，那就是慢熱型，有后勁!讓我們微笑著仰望近幾年的暴發戶，不急不燥不泄氣，積蓄力量，伺機發力。我們總是笑到最后的人。

大家早上好！

今天我踏上校車時，突然意識到這將是我作為小學生，最后一次乘搭滬江維多利亞學校（VSA）的校車了。校巴上一如既往熙熙攘攘。同學們有的嘰嘰喳喳說笑，有的竊竊私語，還有的討論著學社之間的競爭。我的心情既不舍又激動。我不舍得離開可愛可親的老師們，不舍得離開幫助我、包容我的同學，不舍得總是在耳邊叮囑我們“善待他人，善待自己”的校長。

三年前，我首次踏上VSA的校車時，緊張得心都絞成一團。那時候，我剛剛從上海轉學到香港。我很擔心只會說普通話的自己在新學校找不到朋友，我很擔心會在偌大的校園里迷路，我很擔心不能跟上繁體字的教學。后來我才發現，這些擔心都是多余的。VSA非常尊重不同的文化，要求學生了解文化的差異，鼓勵我們和不同文化的人進行交流。在這種文化融合的氣氛下，我不僅很快適應了新的生活，還成為了學社的社長，圓滿完成了小學學習。今天我要借這個機會來感謝校長、老師和同學們。

謝謝您，親愛的戴校長！在升旗儀式上，在年級會議后，在運動會上，甚至在網絡會議的窗口里，您都不會忘記笑瞇瞇地提醒我們：“善待他人，善待自己”。我們都是不同的個體，每個人的想法都不一樣，出發點也不一樣。善待他人并不是一味的謙讓，而是基于理解的合作。善待自己并不是無度的放縱，也不是無極限的苛刻，而是容許自己按照自己的特點來成長。善待他人，善待自己，我們需要聆聽、需要合作、需要理解，甚至需要妥協。

在攀登科學險峰的道路上，我們必定會經歷重重困難。有的困難可能讓我們迷失方向，有的困難可能會像巨石一樣把我們壓得喘不過氣來，有的困難甚至看起來永遠無法逾越。那個時候，請想一想老師教導我們如何運用成長性思維吧！正面對待問題，關注自己可以影響的部分，一步一步堅持往前走，總會穿過黑暗，走向光明。當取得暫時的成就時，我們應該把目光放得更遠，更高。學海無涯，科學的探索和真理的追尋是沒有盡頭的。

我們的世界面對著很多的挑戰，小問題有我們身邊的孩子無法得到好的教育、學校旁邊的海灘受到塑膠污染等等，大問題有全球變暖、水污染和貧富差距懸殊等。我們學到的知識，都是用來回饋世界的。不積跬步，無以至千里；不積小流，無以成江海。同學們，不要等待明天才開始你的善行，讓我們從小事開始，關心我們的社區，服務身邊有需要的人，踐行服務世界的使命。

今天，是個特殊的日子，因為從今天起，我們六年級同學將告別小學生活，邁入中學生涯。我很榮幸地站在這個臺上，代表六年級264名同學，為我們難忘的小學生活畫上一個圓滿的句號。

在廈大的六年，作為一名理科生，我親身感受到了廈大自然科學的發展與壯大，見證了本部樓群的煥然一新，我們的實驗設備越來越先進，我們的學習環境越來越優越。從最初院系之間的各自為政到現今大學部的形成，從最初南方之強的地位到現今向世界知名研究型大學邁進的目標。我們欣喜不已，我們責任在肩。

自然科學貴在探索，但我們從未止步于探索。芙蓉湖畔我們悉心聆聽大師的諄諄教導，白城邊上我們共同探討自然科學的奧妙。我們注重理論探索，我們也注重實際應用；我們關心實驗結果，我們更關心地球和生命。

自然科學重在踏實，但我們從未囿于象牙塔的圍墻。從微小的粒子到浩瀚的宇宙，都是我們研究的對象；從實驗室到大洋科考船，都能看到我們的身影。學校、學院舉辦的各類區域性、國際性的學術會議和論壇不僅極大地開闊了我們的視野，更為我們提供了寬廣的交流平臺。

同學們，今天你們畢業了，這是你們人生中最重要的時刻之一。對我而言，今年也是一個非常特殊的年份，作為改革開放后的第一屆大學生，今年恰逢高考恢復40周年，非常榮幸作為那屆考生和今天的校長站在這里，為畢業生同學們送上祝福。此時此刻，你們充滿自信與期待的眼神，使我不由想起你們剛入校時的青澀與懵懂。你們的成長、成熟，正是大學生活賦予你們的最寶貴的財富。這也使我想起40年來，自己在這所學校學習、工作所經歷的成長與變化，想起在一代代交大畢業生身上所彰顯的品質和精神。

所以，我想在今天這個特殊的時刻，與大家聊一聊「初心」這個話題，希望對你們的未來有所幫助與啟發。

于學校而言，初心就是恪守大學之道、培養一流人才、建設世界一流大學。一個多世紀以前，我們的母校為培養“鐵路救國”的管理人才而誕生，1的時間里，雖然校名屢經更迭、校址多次變遷，但學校辦學從未中斷，一批又一批和你們一樣的優秀學子從母校走向社會，成為國之棟梁與骨干。去年，我們共同分享了學校120周年華誕的榮光與喜悅，見證了歷經三個世紀交大精神的傳承與創新，希望這些能成為你們大學生涯中永恒的記憶。

于我而言，初心就是忠誠教育科研事業，為國家、行業發展貢獻力量。40年前，恢復高考的春風使我幸運地成為了學校1977級的一名新生。當我第一次走進紅果園，迎面而來的是一條橫幅——“歡迎你，鐵路事業未來的建設者”。這句話深深印入了我的腦海。此后，無論是讀書、科研還是走上學校管理者的崗位，母校的期望始終激勵著我，矢志不渝地奮戰在科技創新和教書育人的戰場。

那么，同學們，你們有沒有認真思考過，你們的初心是什么呢？當經歷了這幾年大學生活的洗禮，你們的初心是否發生了改變？從今往后，當身處社會，面對比大學校園復雜百倍的環境、嚴峻百倍的挑戰，你們又能否不忘初心、繼續前行呢？

數年前，你們意氣風發地開啟大學生涯，心中一定充滿夢想與期待——有讀書報國的宏大志向，有出人頭地的自我期許，有成家立業的現實想法，有“讀萬卷書行萬里路”的美好愿望。但是，當時光流轉，你們是不是漸漸丟掉了當初的豪情壯志、開始把所有的理想信仰當成口號？你們是不是漸漸失去了奮斗意志，開始把得過且過作為日常生活的主題？

此時此刻，面對即將開啟的人生新篇，希望你們能堅定自己的理想與抱負，重拾自己的激情與斗志，涵養宏大格局、樹立家國情懷、強化責任擔當，從行業和區域的發展、國家的進步、人類的命運來思考與謀劃未來的人生?？梢灶A見，未來的人生路一定會充滿考驗與挑戰，你們的夢想會一次又一次看上去遙不可及，但請你們一定不要放棄，一定要保有那份追逐夢想的自信和決心。心中有夢、不斷奮進，這才是北京交大人應有的人生態度。

你們初入校園時，按時上課、認真作業、堅持自習、規律作息。你們一絲不茍地焊過很多電板、測量過很多校園的路、在天橋上數過很多車，并把這些單調的實驗過程作為寶貴的學習機會。但是，當時光流轉，你們是不是漸漸把“容易通過”作為選課的主要標準，把“不怕查重”作為對論文的唯一要求？是不是一面在《王者榮耀》的排名中相互追趕，一面給下滑的GPA找各種理由？是不是一面在深夜的聚會中神采飛揚，一面在早晨的課堂上昏昏欲睡？
