李陽的命運之門，在大二訇然洞開。

大學二年級第二學期，他開始自我反省，深感改革開放已經成為當代中國不可逆轉的歷史潮流，與世界政治、經濟和文化的交流幾乎滲透到社會生活的各個角落。學好外語，迎接國際舞臺的挑戰，已成為當代有為青年的大勢所趨。于是，李陽調整目標，開始奮起一搏！全國英語四級考試就在這時為他提供了一個契機。當時，英語一直是中國大學生非常重視的科目，周圍的同學創造了許多奇跡：背誦字典，成本成本地大做考試題。于是，李陽也開始模仿他們，整天泡在語法分析、詞意辨析上，沒過幾天，熱情就消失得差不多了。

偶然的發現

非常巧合的是因為李陽很難集中精力，所以就索性跑到校園的樹林里，山頭上，湖水邊，烈士亭大喊英文！他驚訝地發現，在大聲喊叫中，他的注意力變得特別集中。喊叫的時候，有一種爆發力，有一種神奇的征服力量。幾個星期后，他去英語角，別人很奇怪地問他：“咦，李陽，你的英語怎么一下說得好了許多？”一語點醒李陽，他想，這個“喊”的方法是不是很有效？

立下軍令狀

于是他決心繼續嘗試，雖然充滿了“肯定會失敗”的恐懼。為了避免這次的決心再落得同樣“半途而廢”的下場（come to a disgraceful end），他約了班里最刻苦的同學（李陽所見過的唯一一個大學四年堅持周末上自習的人，現在美國作博士后研究工作），立下軍令狀，每天中午吃完午飯后，奔赴學校最美、最偏的地方烈士亭，大喊英語。而且誰如果先退下陣來，就會被對方任意處置，拳打腳踢、公開侮辱（insult）或是罰請客。改變中午午睡的習慣實在是困難，但只有這個時候，校園是最清靜的。剛開始兩三天，李陽充滿激情，沖好咖啡，帶上風油精，奔赴戰場(battlefield)。

但沒過幾天，吃飽飯以后的懶惰，“從明天開始”的惡劣慣性使李陽向舒適的床上爬去。

“你去不去？”“實在太累了，明天再去吧！”“你記不記得你的諾言？”“ 我記得。但我還是不想去！”“那我可要開始侮辱你了?！薄半S你的便吧！” 見硬的不行，他就來軟的。

“只要稍微堅持一下，你就可以創造奇跡。世界上人的智力都差不多，成功的人就是堅持的人。如果瞌睡，也到烈士亭去睡，做做樣子也是需要的，因為一旦今天停下來，明天又會再找個理由不去。你將來會為今天的選擇感到自豪的！” 就這樣，李陽堅持了下來！對自己的挑戰取得了第一次勝利！

無論是下雨還是刮風下雪，每天中午，兩個身影在烈士亭準時出現。剛開始，一些過路人把他們當瘋子（lunatic;a mad man）、神經病。后來，逐漸不斷的有人從圍觀、猶豫、激動到放下臉皮加入進來。李陽自豪地回憶說：在冬天的大雪中喊英語，感覺棒極了。穿著軍大衣和部隊的大頭皮鞋，在雪花中大聲喊著，跳著，就像是武打影片中的報仇故事，苦練春夏秋冬，以雪國恥家仇。

整整四個月，從秋末到春天即將來臨，他和同學們以頑強的毅力高聲復述完了近十本各類原版英文書，涉及流行口語教材、美國歷史、文化、總統演講以及大量科普、經濟金融管理方面的文章和書籍。

背誦這些文章，對于李陽來說是不可能的（背誦中文都是很難的），他所說的復述是指當時能夠將文章里的句子復述出來，然后將“特別地道、特別常用”的句子收集到筆記本上（形成李陽引以為傲的“財富本”），重點攻擊。這就產生了李陽瘋狂英語突破法的核心(core)：句子中心論。大量的句子操練使單詞和語法獲得了反復鞏固(consolidate;strengthen),并且成為最活單詞、最活語法。三最口腔肌肉訓練法的誕生

李陽在大喊英語中發現，英語講不好主要是因為說慣了中文的嘴巴肌肉不適應英語的發音習慣，就像一個打慣了乒乓球的人非常不適應打羽毛球。中英文兩種語言有些發音的習慣是一樣的，但很多發音所用到的口腔肌肉部位是不同的。因為我們講了十多年、幾十年的中文，漢語部分的肌肉非常發達、完美，那些英語特殊發音所要用的肌肉就相對落后(underdeveloped)、僵硬(stiff/rigid)。通過最大聲、最快速、最清晰的操練，強行鍛煉口腔肌肉，很快一個“陌生拗口”的句子就能脫口而出。

其實瘋狂英語最初的本意，只是針對當時傳統英語教學中聾啞英語的很多問題，而反其道提出的一個將英語脫口“說”出的辦法。其次李陽本人是一個性格內向的人，小的時候，他認為自己能夠去買一瓶醬油，就是很大的成功了，因為他不敢和陌生人說話。所以至今他的父母跟同學都會感到納悶，那是李陽嗎？是什么力量使他突破自己最早禁錮的心？李陽說：是通過喊英語喊出自信來的，為了克服自己的弱點他找了一個同學跟他一起喊，這個人絕對認死理，一旦制定計劃就一定要做到，他們兩個相互鼓勵堅持喊英語。一段時間后他們到外語角去講英語得到了別人的夸贊，嘗到甜頭后他們又繼續努力，就這樣一步一步小小的成就感，漸漸地堅定了信念，獲得了更大的成就。

所以，李陽十分感慨地說，我愿意把以后的精力放在兩件事情上：一個教育自我，另外一個通過教育自我獲得經驗再傳授給別人。讀大學后他渴望突破性格的障礙，在英語中找到自信，所以取了“瘋狂”這個詞，取意為全身心的投入，超越極限。而如今，瘋狂英語給大家的印象就是幫你把英語說出來，大家一聽到瘋狂英語就認為是能快速把英語講好的一個方法，就像新東方最早的時候就是應試英語一樣，一聽到新東方就會馬上反映到考上托福拿高分。

李陽說，瘋狂英語應該訴求兩點：一個是突破聾啞英語的一個很好的辦法，另外一個是人生奮斗的精神。很多人講它在精神上對人的鼓舞超過了方法，我則希望兩者并重，如果只是個精神的東西那方法也太失敗了，我希望它首先是個好方法，同時呢，也包括一些人生勵志的主題，比如永遠不要讓祖國失望，學好英語就是愛國等等。應該說不止成百上千的方法都是要把英語說出來的，不止是瘋狂英語，其實大家的目的是為了交流。那么“瘋狂英語”跟他們的區別就在于：我們發起的時間比較早，1988年的時候，中國還沒有什么口語的概念，我們的持續性比較強，影響力比較大，另外還有一個核心的人物，品牌的影響力要更大，我想的就是這些區別吧。

“李陽瘋狂英語”的受眾群體是所有去學英語的人，而且是全世界學習英語的人，所以他們在韓國的《評比周刊》中瘋狂英語影響力名列第一，他們在日本的影響力、在亞洲的影響力也非常大，而且在德國、美國、加拿大這樣的英語強勢國家也有很大影響。

最初創造“瘋狂英語”這種學習方法，也沒有太多的想法，李陽回憶道，當時只是覺得自己比較喜歡教英語。

1988年在蘭大讀書的李陽，辦起了第一期瘋狂英語培訓班，一人收八塊錢，有幾百人報名，那個時侯，二千多塊錢，是一筆豐厚的收入了。一般人平均一個月的生活費也就是幾十塊錢，這是李陽的第一桶金。

受到鼓勵的他，將這第一桶金全部用來繼續印資料。不停地辦班、辦演講。既沒有商業的概念，也沒有品牌的意識。賺到的錢馬上把它印成“我的學習方法”，白天上課，晚上熬夜用手刻版，然后印好多好多份，只要有人請他去講座，就人手一冊免費發放，有時一萬多人也照樣發給他們，錢就這樣用掉了。也是在這過程中品牌慢慢產生，莫明其妙的成了叫響的品牌。

自信，造就品牌

1990年李陽大學畢業被分配到西安西北電子設備研究所當了一年半助理工程師，從事軍事和民用衛星地面站工作。這一年中他堅持每天清晨在單位九樓頂大喊英、法、德、日語，進一步實踐和完善了“瘋狂英語突破法”。

1992年，李陽因出色的英語水平被調入廣州籌辦的中國第一家省級英語電臺—廣東人民廣播電臺英文臺，并擔任新聞播音員。“TALKSHOW”(脫口秀)節目主持人，同時主持廣州電視臺的英語新聞節目，是廣州地區最受歡迎的英語播音員。

李陽用其獨創的方法練就了一口連美國人都難以分辨的地道美語，他配音的廣告，在香港和東南亞電視臺廣泛播送。同時，他也是廣州著名的獨立口譯員、雙語主持人和美國總領事館文化處、農業處和商務處的特邀翻譯，被人譽為“萬能翻譯機”，圓滿地完成了各種大型國際會議、談判和外事訪問的口譯任務。例如在中美關系處于緊張狀態的1993年底，李陽擔任了美國眾議院外交委員會首席顧問理查德.布什先生關于“克林頓當選總統以來美國對華政策的制訂過程”重要演講的現場口譯，獲得了中美雙方的高度贊賞。

李陽獨立完成的主要口譯還有信息高速公路、移動通訊、知識產權保護、電腦軟件保護、最惠國待遇問題、關貿總協定、國際環境保護、公司法和證券等等專題的演講、國際研討會和國際電視電話會議。

李陽純正的美國英語引起不少外國記者的好奇，美國的ABC廣播網、英國的BBC、香港電臺(RTHK)、日本放送協會(NHK)、蘇格蘭國家電視一臺以及加拿大國際廣播電臺等都曾采訪過他。

這段時期，應該是李陽人生中比較輝煌的時期。誰也沒有想到，這個在新聞界已經嶄露頭角的“英語第一嘴”會抽身下海，辭掉了公職。因為他有兩個夢想:“讓3億中國人說一口流利的英語—讓中國之聲響徹全世界”、“讓3億外國人講一口漂亮的漢語—21世紀將是中國人走向全世界，用中文?折磨?外國人的世紀”。

這個宣言，真正是李陽式的瘋狂。1994年，李陽下海組建了“李陽國際英語推廣工作室”。即便在這個時候，“李陽瘋狂英語”還只是有牌無品，沒有統一的標志和系列產品的出籠。1996年李陽文化教育發展有限公司成立，那時雖然知道品牌對一個企業的發展有著至關重要作用，但是由于受到國人認知習慣的困擾，“李陽瘋狂英語”這個品牌，一直令他猶豫不決。真正被接受還是2002年，李陽上了中央電視臺的春節晚會，“李陽.瘋狂英語”系列才算成為他心目中不再猶疑的品牌。

接下來的幾年時間，“李陽.瘋狂”系列，迅速開始全方位注冊。從“克立茲國際網上英語學院”、“李陽瘋狂英語”到“李陽瘋狂皮具”，把幾乎所有的行業，40多類全部注冊。李陽希望“李陽瘋狂英語”能成為英語教學行業中的第一品牌，全球化的一個品牌，因為只要有人在的地方都會有人學外語，包括像美國這樣的移民大國。比如剛下臺的加拿大總理，李陽說;因為他是法國人，英語一直有語法問題，所以他一直都在學習英語。我們希望瘋狂英語就像麥當勞、肯得基那樣，會像連鎖店一樣遍布世界，它的影響力，應該說想到學外語就想到瘋狂英語，外國人很喜歡“瘋狂英語”這個名字，亞洲人也喜歡，中國雖走過一段猶疑的路，但大家都習以為常了，尤其是年輕人非常喜歡這個名字。

“李陽·瘋狂”演繹品牌

在更大范圍普及“瘋狂英語”的同時，“李陽·瘋狂”系列品牌的合作也在緊鑼密鼓地展開。強強聯合，推動教育，民族事業支持民族企業。李陽把自己的追求納入了振興民族的時代大潮，通過自己的講學去宣傳幫助民族工業。2001年4月，李陽首次與知名企業合作，為步步高語言復讀機提供瘋狂英語解決方案；2001年10月與“金山軟件公司”合作，共同開發“金山詞霸”“金山快譯”。并與金山公司共同承辦了“金山--李陽英語瘋狂夜”；國際著名企業美國寶潔公司在中國各大主要城市創辦“飄柔自信學院”，李陽現身說法，坐堂第一課，等等。

2000年5月，李陽應邀出訪日本、南韓進行講學，“李陽瘋狂英語”迅即風靡亞洲。日本國家電視臺NHK用7分鐘的新聞節目，向全日本報道了李陽瘋狂英語;作為中國著名的英語口語教育家，李陽應邀與韓國著名企業合作，進行產品開發。韓國三星等大型企業紛紛邀請李陽前往講學，并在韓國成立了“李陽瘋狂英語亞洲研發中心”。2001年8月，“李陽瘋狂英語”韓國版問世。

自此，“李陽瘋狂英語”作為“李陽·瘋狂”系列的核心品牌，真正地走出了國門，成為國際化品牌。

李陽現在忙著一個CEO該忙的事情，那就是如何將他稱作“土包子”的品牌，變成真正健全的國際化品牌，把它變成永久的企業。所以，他們請來了咨詢顧問公司、金融公司、各方面的律師事務所對“李陽瘋狂英語”進行全面的整理，以后準備上市。

李陽打趣地說：目前它還是一個民間的東西，我要把它做成國際知名品牌?，F在是個好時機，海歸的人不少，很多留學的都回來了，職業經理人在慢慢地增加，我要為它物色一個出色的CEO。我對品牌體會不太多，因為我還是個搞學術的人，一天到晚研究的還是如何教英語，直到今天為止。別人都說，品牌是企業的一切，企業的生命，沒有品牌就完了，我自己沒有特別的感觸，但我知道未來時代就是品牌時代，一切都是品牌，現在學校都講究品牌，各行業都是品牌，品牌是多年積累的，我的品牌完全是我自己講學講出來的。

我的方法演繹已經形成了這個平臺，進一步的演繹和完善，應該是下一任CEO的事情。我不能當CEO，CEO好辛苦，我應該在哪？游山玩水，遍訪各地名家和各地高僧交流，為企業提供一些點子，就像架構師一樣。那個時候我就真的可以像他們說的那樣，做我這個領域里的比爾·蓋茨了。

他說，最終他希望這個品牌和他沒關系，因為以后有關系的話會有風險，如果個人出現什么問題，個人很多東西就會影響到這個品牌。慢慢地他出頭的機會將越來越少，漸漸地淡化。這個名字，最后成為一個符號，然后全部的價值就附著在這個名字上面了。

以后肯定過五六年，我可能做什么事都沒關系了！他很輕松地說：我可能會開個飯店，或到世界各地去轉一轉，流浪一下，沒關系，真正按照一個品牌經營了，這是目前我們在努力做的一件事情。

我們瘋狂英語出版業已經很大了，現在需要一些人生勵志的東西去支撐。因為有很多人學了卻堅持不下去，所以瘋狂英語將會成為一種哲學思想，我們會發展一整套的教育思想，家教思想。歸納成我們的“瘋狂哲學”，達到關注人的成長，提供人生的選擇性的需要，比如說我們還有《瘋狂健康》，《瘋狂管理》等等。我目前在李嘉誠開辦的“長江商學院”修習企業管理，等我修完后，再有幾年的實踐經驗，我就做一本《瘋狂管理》，《瘋狂管理》肯定會讓人把最大的潛質發揮出來，達到所有管理方式的最佳結局。一個人在工作的時候享受工作，并通過工作全面提升自我。瘋狂英語只是我的語言品牌，但他是我的核心品牌，我要超越一步，現在我的這個品牌遠遠高于別人，我還要把這個品牌做到最好，能夠引發大家的共鳴，感動大家，做好美譽度。然后在這個品牌上搭建起的其他東西，相信一定會有更大的魅力，一定會成功！
