如何學寫英文作文

對于大多數同學來說，學習英語基本上是“考試驅動”的，所以對于作文，向來就不是很重視。原因很簡單，從中學學習英語開始，作文雖然在考試中也占據一席之地，但是實際的重要程度和學生在作文考試中的區分度都不是很高。而且，國內的英語考試對學生寫作的要求已經低到了令人發指的地步，比如四級考試僅僅要求考生寫一篇非常簡單的100個單詞左右的文章。所以，很多同學從來就沒有接觸過真正的英文寫作，在他們的心目中，英語寫作就等于“背幾個句型”并且進行生硬的套用。然而，當這些同學開始面對托福、雅思、GRE、GMAT、SAT之類的國外考試時，他們在寫作能力上的巨大缺陷顯現的淋漓盡致——文章結構松散，論證邏輯混亂，論據使用不合理，語言表達不準確等問題讓他們的作文完全無法在考試中得到考官的認可。而絕大多數作文老師錯誤的教學思路和方法，讓這些同學們在學習英語寫作的道路上越走越偏。

實際上，當我們面對一個作文題目的時候，我們無非會思考兩個問題：一是“寫什么”，二是“怎么寫”。顯然，“寫什么”應該是需要我們首先考慮的問題。比如，在托福考試的Independent Task和雅思考試的大作文中，題目通常會描述兩件事情或者一件事情的兩個方面，讓考生進行比較或者選擇，并闡述理由。而在GRE的ISSUE考試中，題目通常會要求考生對某一個問題發表看法。在考慮這樣的題目時，我們應該明確我們的態度，并想出支持自己想法的理由，還的加上證明理由的例子。這里，“態度”、“理由”和“例子”就是要寫的內容。態度通常是容易確定的。比如題目要求我們選擇是喜歡在家吃飯還是在餐館吃飯，我們可以立刻給出自己的選擇。但是，“理由”和“例子”則是我們比較難以迅速想到的東西。在這種情況下，很多同學愿意選擇“讀范文”的方式來幫助自己思考“理由”和“例子”。但是，這樣勢必會造成思維路線單一的問題，甚至有的同學還會被所謂的“范文”束縛，難以找到除了范文中所述理由和例子以外的東西。事實上，范文永遠是不能解決我們“寫什么”這個問題的，因為對于一個題目或者一個觀點來說，我們可以選擇的理由和例子是相當多的，不同的人會從不同的角度進行分析和闡述，并針對不同的理由給出大量的證據。因此，“討論”是幫助大家擴展思維和找到理由和例子的有效途徑。

這種積累理由和例子的方法我們在學習中文寫作的過程中也是經常使用的。在小學或中學時，我們往往會成立若干個“學習小組”，然后大家一起討論某一個問題應該如何解決，從哪些方面去思考，最后得到若干條寫作的路徑供小組成員選擇。同樣，我們在英文寫作的學習中也可以使用類似的方法——找周圍同樣準備托福、雅思、GRE作文的同學成立作文小組，每個人都針對某個題目發表自己的看法，互相討論，整理出若干理由和例子并選擇使用。然而，相比之下，通過網絡進行討論則是更好的辦法，因為它消除了場地、地域等限制，而且我們還可以在任何時間留下自己的思考的結果。的作文平臺是包含有這種理由和論據討論模塊的。甚至，為了讓大家能更好地參與討論，還針對每個題目提出了一些思考題讓大家回答，以便于在進行理由和論據討論的時候每個人都能夠有話可說。對于A同學提出的理由和論據，其他同學可以表示贊同，也可以表示反對，并需要給出反對意見。這種討論方式在國外的作文教學中已經非常流行，只不過Langlib使用網絡和SNS平臺把它的功能實現的更強大，使用更方便而已。通過這樣的討論，在寫作之前我們都可以擁有基本的寫作思路，并能清晰地看到我們需要?寫什么”。至少，現在我們可以用中文寫出文章了。至于“怎么寫”的問題，我會在第二篇中進行闡述。
